My Interest Check
Marcia slips through the door. It was just a quick peek! She wanted to see what the world looks like overrun by mutants. Maybe she could even collect a sample for the scientists to study! She pokes around in her bag before nodding to herself. Spear, check. Food, check. Water, check. Journal, check. Extra change of clothes, checkity-check check!

It wasn't like she'd be gone for long.

The girl rushes over to the ladder, quickly beginning the climb. For a top-secret bunker, this place wasn't really all that well-guarded. Ah well. It works in her favor.

Marcia shoves the hatch off the top of the bunker. "Okay, Marcy, let's do this!" She hops out of the bunker, looking around at the (surprisingly) lush surroundings.

Why don't we come up here more often? This is great!

Azilo was sitting upside down in a tree, their tail helping them sit up more comfortably on the tree. He was partly asleep from all the short drama and everything the others weee doing. He open his eyes as he heard something. He sit up on the tree and turned around, looking left and right to see where the sound came from as his tail hanged over the branch. (Sorry if it’s pretty bad!)

Marcia looks around the overgrowth with poorly concealed wonder. Her mouth was opened in a slight 'O' shape as she dramatically spun around. This didn't seem dangerous at all! Fresh air was so much more than she'd ever thought it'd be. She could finally understand what great-grams meant!

She flops into the grass, watching 'faires' float into the sky above her. Not a mutant in sight, either. Marcia closes her eyes, sighing peacefully.

This was a good distraction from everything happening down in the bunker. It was always so crowded there! Considering there were 1,500 people cramped into a village-sized hole probably didn't help.

What would top-side villages look like? Would they have real trees? Would she be able to see the sky from there?

She flips onto her back to stare at said sky.

(You're good, dw!)

Azilo snorted as he didn’t find what he heard. he shrug as he sat up and jumped from tree to tree. he wanted a peaceful sleep but he also wanted to see what made the noise.

He look around as he flicked the tip of his tail. he didn’t see anything yet but kept looking. ‘What was that..’ He mumbled to himself as he jumped onto the ground and sniffed around, keeping his ears perked in case of something.

Marcia laughed to herself. She had found flowers! Real flowers! And she was making a crown out of them.

She twists the stems around each other in delicate patterns. It was like weaving in a way...Well, really it was just like weaving. But this? This was real.

Marcia couldn't get over that fact. She was really in a real forest with real trees, the real sky, and real grass beneath her feet.

The girl giggles giddily again.

Azilo perked his ears as he began to follow the sound of the giggles. he slightly narrow his eyes as he hid into a bush.

He still his tails as he saw the human-like feature. he snort a bit as he sniffed alittle then growled quietly. he move his paw arm as he shook his head.

‘A human.. why here?..’ He thought to himself as he slightly puffed up his fur to try to keep himself more hidden.

Marcia, very not attuned to the forest, fails to notice the pairs of eyes watching her. "I should take Luce up here! He'd love it!" She roughly shoves the flower crown onto her head, a few petals falling to the ground with the motion.

Suddenly, a giant mass comes crashing into her. Marcia screams. Was it a mutant?

"Whatever are you doing out here, little girl?" The voice purrs. "Humans do not come up here often."

Marcia strained her neck trying to take a glimpse of the mutant. From what she could see, it was some kind of canine. A wolf, maybe?

Azilo pinned his ears back as he growled slightly louder. he look around then looked up at a tree branch. he jump onto it and glared at the other Mutant.

‘Let her go.’ He flicks his tails with annoyance and anger as his fur slightly bristled up.

Even tho he didn’t like humans at all,he didn’t wanna see one get hurt or eaten. he lift his paw, ready to leap any moment if he needed too.

"What're you gonna do about it, kitten?" The beast looks over at Azilo with a snarl. A mutant fox.

Marcia tries to wiggle out of the fox's grasp, effectively making it push down on her harder.

"Is it really worth it? For an insect like this?"

Azilo eyes narrowed more as he pinned his ears back to touching his back. ‘I warned you fox.’

He look at Marcia and snorted, looking back at the fox soon jumping down from the tree and ran into a bush behind the fox.

He get ready to pounce then smiled, jumping onto the Fox’s back and growled.

The fox howls, flipping around to tackle Azilo. "I warned you."

Marcia slips away into a bush. As much as she'd love to run back to the burrow, when else would she get the chance to study mutants?

She eagerly watches the battle from the shadows.

Azilo jumped back as he looked up at the fox, ready to leap back whenever.

His eyes watched a the girl left then shook his head. He crouch down as he growled at the fox,his tails lashing. ‘Come get me you little foxy’

He snicker as he turned around and ran into the forest like ravine, glancing back as he smirked.

The fox snarled, unwilling to put in the effort for a chase. "Come on out, kiddo. I know you're still around."

Marcia's breath hitched. She should've left! Damn her curiosity.

"You may have fooled that cat, but I am smarter than that."

Azilo stopped dead track in his run and snorted, realizing the fox didn’t follow him. he walk back to the place, spinning around in the tall grass and the bushes.

He look at the girl as he grumbled slightly then made a small roar sound, quiet to were the fox couldn’t hear it.

Marcia flinched, looking back at where the roar had come from. She studies the creature wearily.

"Human...You are getting on my nerves."

With a quick glance backward, Marcia crawls towards Azilo.

Azilo moved back a bit, looking back at human then snorted, turning around and lead to a small cave.

He look behind him and cooed slightly, tilting his head to the cave, trying to give her the idea of safety form the Fox.

Marcia scrutinized Azilo, nodding cautiously, before scurrying over to the cave.

"What was that?" The fox whipped around. "I can hear you, little pest! Give up while you still can."

Azilo growled quietly as he got onto his back feet, using the small leaves of the save to cover it then went back into the bushes.

He spin around the fox in the bushes as he cooed to get the Foxes attention away from the direction of the cave.

Azilo growled as he tried to push him off,his eyes slightly widening as his personality changed from anger to worry. ‘Get off me you fox!’

"Tell me where the human went!" The fox growls, baring his teeth at the figure trapped beneath him.

"...Maybe I'll spare you then."

‘I will never tell you where they went!’ Azilo inched his face away from the fox, struggling to move.

Marcia peeked out of the cave at Azilo's panicked words. With a slight struggle, she grabs the spear out of her backpack.

"Then you die." The fox snarls, leaning in close enough to Azilo that he could smell his, quite frankly, horrible breath.

Marcia sets her bag gently back onto the floor. With a deep breath, she prepares herself.

"Hey! Foxface!" Marcia launches herself at the fox. The mutant turns to growl at Marcia and is instead met with a spear through its skull.

Azilo closed his eyes tightly, almost thinking he was gonna die then opened his eyes. He look at the fox and then at the spear.

He kick the Foxes paw off him and got up. He dust himself off then looked over at the girl, blinking as he tried to think. ‘Did you do that?..’ his voice was still quiet, scared to normally speak up.

He fix his shirt as he letted his fur flattened down and calmed himself down.

Marcia grimaces as she yanks the blood-coated spear out of the fox's skull. "Yes..." A quick glance around. "Who else would've?"

Her eyes light up. "Oh! Are there more mutants around? You guys are very good at hiding.." The girl puts the spear on her back.

Marcia produces a pen and journal from seemingly nowhere. "That would make sense, though, considering you're a...tiger?" She hums, writing something down and starting back off towards the cave.
