Fantasy Of Knights and Legends (Fate-inspired)

Actually, I'm leaning towards General, instead of Mana Burst.

But if Lancelot keeps his vote, I'll shift it to Mana Burst, tbh.

It was the eve of a new year. Now seven years old, you've picked to focus on training with a sword. Finally, your brother, Gawain showed you how armor works, how to wear it, which piece is called what, and how to use it to your advantage. After a month of training in armored combat, he taught you more melee fighting for another three months. This time, you moved to practice -- him, and you, both with blades, both in armor, although yours was lighter to match your growing posture. And as such, you grew in skill rather than knowledge. You started grasping your inner combat instinct and honing your talents with a sword. Unfortunately, a week before the end of your training, Gawain left Londinium to become a Knight of the Round Table under High King Arthur. Under the circumstances, Gaheris took over your training. Gawain still wrote from time to time.

It was then that you continued expanding your knowledge of strategy and tactics. This time, taught exclusively by your brother Agravain, with the occasional aid from your father to correct a few of his mistakes, you learned more about laying a siege and defending your castle during one. You understood which parts of the castle serve what purpose, or why there are such tall walls around you, and why archers stand upon them raining down punishment upon the enemy. It all became clear. The reason why whenever father left to fight the Saxons his men carried tall ladders -- it was so they could put them up against the walls and climb them. It all made sense now. You were fully aware of it.

The last four months of the year you spent with your mother. She wasn't mean to you, ever, but she never really... interacted with you or your siblings. You saw her only during important ceremonies and for all you know, she spends a vast majority of her time holed up in that tower of hers. But right now, you were to walk up the stairs and spent four months with her inside, learning the infamous arts of magecraft and witchcraft. Honing your inner talent, you learned the basic foundations of thaumaturgy as well as how to channel your mana into a basic incantation and cast a spell or two, but you probably can't use them in combat.

At the end of the year, there was... a peculiar event.

More specifically, the Saxons laid siege to Londinium. Lot was very protective of his people, you admired him for it. As much as you wanted to join into the fray, you couldn't. Only Gaheris and Agravain actually rode into combat, while Gareth helped prepare the defenses. You, on another hand, stayed inside. Perhaps that was why it happened. Why they took their shot...

...

~~~~
You sit in your room, quietly. Mother told you to stay in there and walk out to only eat meals. You could still train magecraft, though, so that's a plus.
You lay down on your chest on the carpet of your room, looking into a crystal ball. You take a deep breath and feel a small warmth in your stretched arm. Your hand hangs over the blue sphere and slowly, you chant. "Felly galwaf, dinistrio, byw, ond amlwg. Dyna yw eich llwybr." The blue sphere started glowing with a blue radiance at its edges. "Torri golau os oeddech yn gwrando ar y gorchymyn hwn."
And with that being said, the sphere showed you the walls of the castle. The sensory input of that place was projected into the crystal tool for scrying before you, but the fact that it took you five lines to cast a simple spell like this that took your mother merely a wave of the hand proves just how much of a novice you are. You'll have to work on it...
Clang... clang... clang...
You hear metallic footsteps outside your room.
Suddenly, the wooden door breaks. You look up and see a man. He had brown hair and wore chainmail under a few plates of armor. In his hand was a shortsword of unclear origin. You gasp as he approaches you.
The man swings his sword at you. You do as your brother taught you and step back, increase the distance between you and the attacker. He catches up and strikes again from above, but you duck and manage to evade, so he hits your bed instead. You quickly run outside of the room and yell for help, but realize that everyone save for the servants is now near the walls. All you could hope to do... all you could hope to do was...
You outstretched your hand back at the door of your room with an open palm. "Galwaf am wynt. Galwaf am dân. Cyfuno a thorri, yna rhyddhewch eich pŵer!" This spell came much more easily to you. You said it much more quickly, fluently, and it was shorter, yet by itself, it had a higher power than the scrying one. This was because of your elemental affinity that your mother told you about. It became much easier to learn spells attuned to you, like this one...
Your hand lights up. Lines of crimson energy fly alongside your forearm until they stop at your hand and wait for the release. As soon as the assassin walks into the doorframe, he is blasted by a potent attack of red lightning. The substance melted through his armor and chainmail, then inflicted a grievous injury, drilling a hole in his chest and sending him three steps back until he fell over in death.
Who knew that your magecraft training would come in use?
~~~~

Your training was useful in the long run. A new year began, and the Saxons were driven back. You started considering your new curriculum for the year, and, as Gareth and Agravain advised you, you split the schedule into 4 parts each one 3 months long. The first three months you spent with Gaheris and Gareth, honing your swordsmanship and preparing yourself for the future in which you would have to fight yourself. You have also had several, fairly serious spars and duels with Gareth. As a result of which, the two of you bonded, and your skills grew exponentially. You even managed to beat him once while he was going all-out, which is a testament that even if he's two years older than you, you are still proficient. You have relied on your instinct multiple times and won many times against the other soldiers. You are feared and known in all Londinium as the child most experienced in swordsmanship. According to your father, you've surpassed even what Gawain could do at your age; an achievement you are very proud of.

The second quarter of the year you spent with the librarian by the name of Mephiston. Mephiston tutored you and taught you how to properly use a quill, which letter sounds like what, and what numbers look like. By the start of the summer, you could read texts, write letters, and count numbers. And with that being done, you've started writing letters to Gawain. He wrote back to you and praised you on your growth. Everything looks bright so far.

The following three months you spent with your mother, learning more complex pieces of thaumaturgy. Finally, you've shortened your lightning spell chant to one, short line. You have learned quite a bit more spells and now, they are usable in open combat. In order to test your mettle, you've spared against Agravain, using a mixture of swordsmanship and spells to aid yourself. By casting reinforcement on your body, you managed to gain a physical edge, and by using lightning spells, you controlled his movements until he was in the perfect position for you to beat him. You managed to defeat your own, 15-year-old brother. Of course, you've had a rematch afterward with no spells, in which you lost in seconds, but still, your magecraft and fencing complete each other like a husband and wife.

The last three months of the year you spent learning about different steeds and mares. Their different races, aspects, and how to ride them. You were shown how to sit upon a saddled horse, how to tame it, and how to make sure it does not throw you off. Although you still aren't a master, you now have the complete set of the skills a knight must have. And though they may be lacking, they are still there and ready for improvement.

Let's cap swordmanship first.

Then I think we should go with Mana Burst and Resistance.

And then finally I think we should go with Riding and Taming

Under Gaheris' tutorship, you've finally reached perfection in the arts of swordsmanship. Capable of beating even Gareth and Gaheris, you have reached your peak in skill and can challenge even Agravain to a standstill. Such martial perfection at this age is very rare, and you became the pride of the whole family. Thus, you spent three months honing your melee combat skills and finally, the rock of a swordsman you were is now a refined diamond.

Afterward, your mother showed you a new technique regarding the release mana that she called Mana Burst -- and according to her -- it is a rare, valued skill, possessed by a scarce few individuals. Another person that could do it would be High King Arthur. The reason you hold this skill, she revealed, is because when you were a child, she fused your essence with that of a dragon to ensure you would be powerful. You felt pride when she explained this, and within 3 months, you learned how to control your inner dragon and bleed mana through your body and weapons to infuse them with additional power.

The next three months you spent honing your inner soul's capacity to resist thaumaturgy. As a result, your body became capable of canceling any magical energy trying to invade it, but the quality of this resistance is still low and you can only fully negate short, weak spells. Overall, your ability is equivalent to that of an amulet that resists magical energy.

And once again, the last three months of the year you spent learning more about horses, steeds, and other creatures of the wild. You've become an adept rider, perfectly capable of controlling any horse you sat upon with little difficulty.
