Zofia Smith

The idea of Stefan running the family actually kind of made Zofia laugh, not that he wasn’t capable and smart, but it just wasn’t him. He didn’t seem like the kind of guy who needed or even wanted to be in control, at least not of that sort of thing. It was nice to laugh again, to let loose. It was what the rest of the night was for and oh boy did Zofia take advantage of that. Thankfully it sounded like Mikhail had thought ahead about the activities that would transpire that night and had arranged for a ride and some hotel rooms.

“Oh thank god.” Zofia sighed, that was one less thing for her to stress about. The others quickly made their way out to the car that had arrived for them and Zofia found herself sitting on her seat looking up at Stefan as he offered her his hand. It made a sad smile spread across her face slowly. She didn’t deserve kindness from anyone at this point, let alone him. “I can, but I’ll take your offer either way.” She reached out and took his hand, pulling herself up and keeping hold of it for a moment longer than she probably needed.

“Tonight was nice, it was good to just see friends and not be working for once.” Zofia sighed and took in a long breath once they were out in the cool night air. Every minute of her life recently had been a grind, training, working, fighting. It was rare that she was actually able to take a moment and enjoy herself. Even if that enjoyment would give her a wicked migraine in the morning. “I’ve missed everyone… I’ve missed you. Even all the chaos around this entire strange situation we found ourselves in due to everyone's favorite long lost twins. But it was a different type of chaos, fun. Different from the chaos I’m in now.”

Mikhail Sommers

The others all left fairly quickly and it seemed that Nicholai was onto Mikhail’s plan quicker than he thought he would be. In all fairness, he wasn’t trying to be subtle or sneaky. Clearly he had some sort of motive otherwise why else would he choose to be the one who stayed behind? “Oh I don’t think I’m slick, at least not because of this.” He spat the words out slightly, watching with a raised brow as Nicholai busied himself with cleaning to avoid the conversation at hand. “You’re going to crack, you always do.” He sighed and rolled his eyes, the other man had put on his stern face and was avoiding eye contact with him. It made Mikhail drop his arms from across his chest and begin picking up as well.

“Of course its about the girl. Aleksi was at the funeral today and I think we both know how lucky we are that Katya didn’t notice. But shes not dumb either, today thankfully there was a dead body to distract everyone but that excuse is gone after today Nicholai. She’ll absolutely lose it!” Nicholai finally spoke up and Mikhail spat back with probably a bit too much spice. But honestly it was a sore subject for him. These fucking Petrovs were constantly playing with their hearts and it was getting OLD. It was old then and it was old now. This was EXACTLY why Mikhail was so against the idea of the two of them playing house.

“Last hurrah?” That was it. That was the thing that made him snap. “I told all of you how STUPID it was to let them pretend this would work and guess who was right? I think you all think that I’m just trying to be a downer, that I’m trying to make everyone miserable but I think you forget that I am speaking from EXPERIENCE.” Mikhail was being loud, it was rare that he got emotional and upset but when he did, oh boy. When they were younger Mikhail and Nicohai were something, something pretty great honestly. They had to sneak around, not only from the families but because of being closeted. But it was okay… Mikhail knew they were worth fighting for. It was something special and he knew it. He was head over heels for the man. Clearly he was alone in that sentiment because he got dropped like a rock. Nicholai wasn’t willing to be himself, especially not with a member of the Ivanov family. It came out of nowhere and suddenly Mikhail had his heart broken. He would be DAMNED if the same thing would happen to Katya. Her and Aleksi were DONE

Katya Ivanov

Kat didn’t need Aleksi to explain himself, she could tell how upset he was and she knew it wasn’t about the funeral. Part of her didn’t want to know why, she was terrified that his father put something in the Will that would separate them for good. Turns out she was right. At first she was angry, not at him but at just the situation. Katya took a deep inhale and thought about what to say. What could she say? “So you get married.” She gave a small shrug as the others climbed into the car, her big blue eyes glancing back over at Aleksi. “I assume it’s something in the will, right? It’s just legalities, there’s always a loophole. I’ll, I’ll figure this out. OK?”

The drive to the hotel was mostly silent, it seemed as if everyone was exhausted by the long day and she couldn’t blame them. Kat was exhausted, but with the new information she wouldn’t be able to sleep. “Come on, I’ve got you.” With a soft smile Kat carefully helped the trashed Aleksi out of the car. Nicholai would arrive soon to help him but she just wanted to make sure he got to his room safely, she was sure the family was keeping a close eye on him right now. Once they got the room keys Kat walked Aleksi up to his room, not saying a word as she did.

“If you need to get married I support you, I know you don’t want to but… I get it.” Quickly she swiped the keycard and opened the door for him, placing the keycard in his hand once she was done. “Divorce her. There’s nothing in the will that prevents a divorce right?” With a small shrug Kat placed a quick kiss on his cheek. “We finally have each other back and I don’t want to lose you. If you want me to back off though and support you from afar I will. I just want you happy.” It was tearing her apart inside thinking of saying goodbye again, but if that was what he needed from her then…well, she’d do it. Love made you do crazy things, and she’d do anything Aleksi needed her to do. “Sleep on it, OK? I’ll try to see you tomorrow before I head home.” Mikhail would be so pissed if he knew she was still trying to make this work, but she couldn’t help it. Aleksi made her happy, but more importantly seeing him happy made her happy.

Annabella

Anna noted that Masha was acting different but she lumped it up to her being slightly tipsy. Being around everyone again, just being HERE was overwhelming for the woman and she was sure that she was on edge. At least she got to unwind, see her sisters, and experience the good company that would be waiting home for her. These were the people that missed her. “In you go dear.” Anna chimed cheerfully as she opened the door for Masha, climbing in once everyone but the guards were in. They seemed like they were all set; Kat would take care of the trashed Aleksi (poor boy), Stefan would watch over Zofia, and that left the tipsy Masha in Anna hands.

It wasn’t long before they arrived to the luxurious hotel. The car ride was mostly quiet and she was sure everyone was tired from their exhausting day. Soon enough everyone was provided their key cards for their rooms.
Everyone was provided their own rooms, though the guards were right next door to the Ivanov girls and Aleksi. It had been a long few days of traveling, and it had been an even longer day, and it only hit Anna right as she was escorting Masha to her room that she had something for her. “Mash, I know it’s late and everything but I have something to give you.”

Quickly Anna reached into her purse and pulled out an old key. “This is for the church, it’s yours now. Nuns still run it and everything, they have some additional funding as well now. The church is under new ownership and the owner wants you to run it. It not she understand, but she thinks you’d be the best fit.” Anna knew that Masha missed the church, she missed her friends and family. Maybe if she could be the one in charge, no shady business, she’d want to set down some roots again. “I’ll follow you anywhere though,t he choice is all yours.”

Stefan

It was nice to see Zofia relaxed and like her old self. Stefan didn’t realize how attached he had gotten to her in such a short time frame and that only made him miss her that much more. She looked tired, like since she left she had been working herself to the bone. The bruise, the bags. He wished that would have been some help to her lately. She didn’t want to be found though, and despite wanting to help her he didn’t want to push her further away. He had to give her her space. After seeing that sad smile of hers however, for the first time he regretted giving her the space.

“The offer stands any day, any time Zofia. ” Stefan shot her a warm, gentle smile before following her into the cool night. He pocketed his hands as she spoke and he couldn’t help but smile sadly. “I wish we could continue to have good times like this again.” He left it at that however as they got into the car, giving a small yawn as they took off for their destination. He was happy to go to a hotel for a night, back at home his mother still would be harping on him. She didn’t like Katya or how she ran things, and honestly Stefan just wanted her to go back home. Some silence was nice to finally have.

Once everyone received their keycards Stefan walked Zofia to her room. He wanted to make sure she got there safe and maybe just have one last time to talk to her before she cut him out of her life again. “Zofia, if I may.” He finally managed to work up the nerve to say something. If he fucked up he lost her, but he didn’t do anything then he’d lose her anyways. “I, you know I want to support you no matter what. I care about you, but I truly worry about what you’re mixed up in. Can I just, can we talk? I miss you. I need to know what you’ve been up to.” Stefan took her hands in his and he was pleading with her. Now that he was done with being the boss of the house he could focus on helping her. Hopefully she didn’t turn him away.

Nicholai

“Why should their experience be ours? They had fun! Sometimes love just isn’t enough, unfortunately that was the case here too. You act like we just live to play with your hearts, but it’s not! I was terrified to be found out by the boss, you don’t know what he was like! I was confident, but one of the guards was found to have a similar relationship. He disappeared, his boyfriend disappeared. I didn’t want anything to happen to you.” So I hurt you, and I feel terrible for doing so. The sentence continued in his head but he was too proud to say it. Nicholai had never had a boyfriend before, Mikhail was his first but he knew he loved him. Their banter, their similarities, their interests. The two men were similar beyond belief and they made the perfect pair, but Nicholai wasn’t willing to let Mikhail get hurt.

Suddenly this had become about the two of them and their history. It was tragic, but the boss was gone now. It felt like a weight had been lifted off of his shoulders now that he could trust the boss. “Aleksi is a good guy. A big playboy sometimes, but you know he’s always liked Katya. He wouldn’t hurt her on purpose. I never wanted to hurt you but what would we have done? Run away? How long would we be able to survive like that before they hunted us down and killed us?”

Nicholai hadn’t gotten this worked up in a while. He was so good at holding things in, swallowing them down so he didn’t say anything. Tonight he broke. “I loved you, OK? I’m sorry I hurt you, but seeing you get to live life every day is worth your anger.” It was like his body moved on instinct. His strong hand cupped Mikhails cheek and, despite knowing the repercussion of his actions, his lips crashed down to his for a heated moment.

Mikhail Sommers

It was very very rare that Mikhail ever cried, honestly he struggled to remember the last time he ever had. Well that is, until now. "They had fun?" Mikhail spoke almost breathlessly as his eyes began to well up with tears. "This will break her, I don't think you understand. She won't look back at this fondly while Aleksi moves on and gets married, she wont be able to say oh well, it was good while it lasted. This. Will. Break. Her." His voice was getting quieter, harder to understand through the emotion he was currently choking on. He was so fucking pissed that Nicholai had this power over him, to make him cry. To make him this angry, this sad. All of it. "I know that girl more than anyone, we're very similar. So I can tell you from experience how she's going to feel at the end of all this."

Mikhail simply stared at Nicholai as he continued, tears finally steadily streaming down his face. What would they have done? Tried. Jesus looking back on it all now, things would have felt so much different now if they had at least tried! "You didn't even fight for me! For us! You saw the first sign of fucking trouble and tucked your tail between your legs nd bailed!" Loved you. Hah. Worth your anger .Hah. Then it happened.

At first Mikhail was in so much shock he simply stood there, frozen like a statue with wide eyes that had finally stopped crying due to the sheer confusion he was going through. Then came the few seconds that he too let himself get lost in the moment, his eyes closing and his body leaning into the kiss. But then came the final stage, the one where he pulled himself away and his hand flew across Nicholai's face. "D-Don't ever touch me again." With that he moved and made his way out of the bar, calling for a ride. There was no way in hell he could look at Nicholai, not now. Not now that he was outside, alone, a sobbing mess. He didnt ever want anyone to see him like this...

Aleksi Petrov

Aleksi’s head felt like it was trying to rip itself apart. Not from the alcohol, from the situation he was facing. He almost thought it would have felt better if Katya had gotten mad or upset? Instead her being so kind and understanding was making him feel even fucking worse. Sure right now there was nothing about a divorce but there was always the threat of something lurking around the corner now. Who knows what other safe guards his father had in place to make sure they were always under his control? “I can sleep on it. For sure.” He didn’t have the heart to say anything more right now. He didn’t know what to say anyways.

Aleksi loved Katya more than he thought was even possible. It was wildly unfortunate that he was forced to realize it now that things were really fucking shitty but … he knew he had to make it all work somehow. There had to be something he could do. Just right now he did not have the emotional capacity or mental capacity to come up with anything. No right now all he wanted to do was get some rest. Well and make use of the time he had, in case it was truly running short.

Katya had helped him to his hotel room, opened the door and was sending him to bed. But Aleksi refused to send her to her own room. “Come on.” He didn’t even ask, he simply gently grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her inside so the door clicked shut behind her. “I don’t want to be alone, I want you here. Mikhail and Nicholai will be pissed but what’s fucking new.” Aleksi let her wrist go and turned around so he wasn’t facing her, unbuttoned his shirt and eventually removed his undershirt before replacing his button up back onto his body and turning back around. “You can wear this if you want, so you’re not uncomfortable. You can have the blankets too. I’ll lay on top of them, I just want to hold you tonight. If that’s okay.”

Zofia Smith

Part of her wanted to tell everyone what she was up to but she knew it would cause more trouble than good. So she was very thankful that they were getting a hotel room, it meant no one would be taking her home tonight to see the janky apartment she lived in above the gym. On the flip side, it meant more time keeping up the fucking lie. A lie that got even harder when Stefan said he wished they could see each other more.

The whole car ride made her dwell on those words. She missed him, a lot. It was stupid how much she missed him when you consider they really hadn’t known each other long. But she did. Almost as much as she had missed Masha. Stefan got her, they had fun together and it wasn’t awkward or forced. That was the whole reason she was avoiding him now, because she wasn’t good enough for him or anyone else to waste their time on.

The ride was silent mostly, at least for her. When they got to the hotel Stefan insisted on walking her up so she said her good nights to the others and allowed him to walk with her. Part of Zofia knew this wouldn’t be a simple good night, they were alone now and she could just feel a shift in his mood. As soon as they reached the door she realized she was correct, “Stefan.” Zofia sighed, looking up at him for a moment but having to quickly look down. She didn’t want to tell him. However when he took her hands she felt something break, “C-Come in okay?” She still couldn’t look at him but she simply turned and unlocked the door, making her way inside and sitting on the edge of the bed.

“You don’t have to worry about me. I’m really okay.” Zofia said it so surely that she almost convinced herself. For a moment she almost forgot about the pain she was in and the literal shit hole her life was. But the confidence fell fast when she adjusted on the bed and winced from a sharp twinge in her ribs. “I have been working at a gym. Scouts honor on that one. But I’ve also been boxing.” Fighting. “And working with someone to rig the bets.”

Zofia knew Stefan would freak so she quickly tried to reassure him about it all. She stood from the bed and began pacing as she spoke a mile a minute. “Really, I win most of the time! I’m training and doing really well but everyone loses eventually right? And the guy is good guy! Well not really he’s a scumbag but he’s trustworthy I think! He hasn’t fucked me over yet. Plus I rent the apartment above the gym now so it’s a lot cheaper since he owns the place.” Maybe this wasn’t helping.

Masha Ivanov

Masha didn’t know if the booze or the lack of sleep was catching up to her again or what but during the car ride she found herself getting more and more drowsy and dizzy. It was reaching that point that she was now all giggly again and not really able to walk straight. Thankfully she knew that at the end of the tunnel there was a nice comfy hotel bed with her name on it! Oh and Annabella was there, she would help. She always helped, she was kind, smart, fun, cute… Oh boy. Masha shook her head and slumped back against her seat in the car. So drunk.

“Who let me drink this much? Was it me? I’m always doin’” Hiccup. “That.” Hiccup. “Bad me! Bad.” Masha leaned against Annabella as they made their way up to her hotel room, every few feet she stumbled, every couple of seconds she hiccuped. Drinking was not her strong suit.

“Hmmmmm?” Masha said with a giggle, turning to face Annabella as she said she had something for her. “A gift? For moi?” She pointed to herself dramatically with a small smile before it fell looking at the item in Annabella’s hand. She explained that the Church was doing better, no longer affiliated with any shady business. For a moment when she saw that damn key all she could think about was the cage she was locked in, how Katya almost died. It overshadowed all the years of good there. But then Annabella continued and Masha felt a bit of a raise in her spirits, maybe she could come back. Do what the church should have been doing, be around her friends again, the kids. All of it.

Masha looked up at Annabella for a long moment and honestly she wasn’t quite sure what overcame her but she was shortly standing up on her very tip toes and wrapping her arms around the tall womans neck, planting a soft kiss against hers. It was her first kiss ever and if anyone had ever gambled that Masha would ever have the confidence to imitate it it would be shocking. But… she liked Annabella. A lot. For so many reasons but right now all she could think of was how many times the woman came to her rescue in different ways, how she helped her see the light and made sure she was happy.

But then came the second thought, one that made Masha pull away and blush madly. Annabella was a woman.
