Fantasy Of Distant Legends

Seraphine Reizylle
A FAIR DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE KING AND HIS AUDIENCE

The arrival of the king was unexpected, but welcome. He had his way with words that's for sure. His very presence was compelling, but Seraphine had dabbled enough in the field of enchantment and the like to give her some sort of tolerance for it. Granted, her distance from the group, the king, and the large horned creature may have paid some assistance to this as well.

Honestly, she didn't know where exactly this was all going to be. A giant creature calling itself as a great demon, a king who suddenly emerged for some reason, and a group of very distinct individuals all meeting in one place. But, since she had nothing else to do she continued to follow and observe them, at a fair distance, as she have said before.

But, all of a sudden, there was a floating skull drifting towards her. And as it grew closer and closer, the more curious and cautious she looked to be. Once it wa close enough for it to make an actual conversation with her, she took a step back.

The question it posed to her, gave her a little surprise, nothing too drastic to be concerned with. "Well, I talk of my master, of course.", she replied. Sure, revealing what would be private, valuable information to strangers is usually frowned upon, but telling it to a talking, floating skull surely wouldn't be of any harm. Or would it? Completely unsure of what to do next, Seraphine decided to follow her instincts.

"The one and only Pioneer of Magical Sciences and Scientific Magics!", to others, speaking this out loud in a very proud manner is quite an embarrassing thing to do, but not to Seraphine. It would appear that she has gotten some traits from her mentor. However, before she expanded on who this extravagant fellow was, she returned a question back to the skull in curiosity.

"You sound and look awfully similar to one of my master's contacts. Do you know him by any chance?"

Some distance from the King... And getting ignored by said King. | Reinhardt Reinhardt June Verles June Verles

"Ugh..." Faust recoiled in disgust, attempting to avert his gaze from Seraphine as she made an unnecessarily exaggerated and proud introduction to her 'master', a genius in 'science-magic'. Goddamn, if that idiot taught the girl anything, it was putting on utter shitshows like himself. "For fuck's sake, for all his 'magic science' shenanigans, he still hasn't made me my damn reality-dissipating nuke!" Faust spat in annoyance as if what he had just said wasn't concerning at all. Well, who wouldn't be pissed after ordering a reality-dissipating nuke and not having it delivered after almost a century? He even paid all the expenses upfront!

"I'm uh, a friend, I guess?" Faust responded to Seraphine's query, unsure of what to say next. Should he just tell her the truth, or make some bullshit up? Why did he even need to explain how they met?! "Uh... We went to the same... magic academy?" He slowly pieced a sentence together, word after word at a crawling pace. "In any case, all he does is going around preaching his research notes like a fucking religion! That, and doing all sorts of weird shit with that Anima Core of his! Last time we met, he was using a female body, functional organs and all! In fact, I'm certain that he's done some weird selfcest shit already!" His bullshittery quickly turned to a list of complaints.

"And then, he and that old fart just decide to go off and 'save the world' or some shit, and leave me here to clean up the mess! They could've at least taken care of the fucking gnome, but noooOOoOooO0o00. Here I am, the almighty Elder Lich, Faust Windfallow, reduced to nothing but a floating head that can't even conjure up half a retarded skeleton!" He continued grumbling annoyedly under his breath. Looks like being a powerless (albeit indestructible) floating skull has gotten to him. "Yes, I do know your 'master', and the next time I meet him, I'm going to shove my Guillotine Scythe up his asshole and tear him a new one!"

Faust's verbal assault was cut short, however, as a homeless-looking guy just... emerged from a bush, and presented him with a bag, with a human head... that had weed growing out of it...

"What..." Faust muttered in pure shock. Even he couldn't quite comprehend the sight before him. "HOW THE FUCK IS THE CROP QUALITY SO GREAT?!" He screamed out in a mixture of awe and joy. "THIS IS PERFECT!" He began showering the guy (who was clearly high) in praise (though not sure how much it's worth coming from Faust... But he hardly ever gives praise, so I guess it's good?) "WHY DIDN'T YOU COME SOONER?! WE'LL GO TO THE RAVEN'S ARCANA IMMEDIATELY, LET'S MIX IT WITH DRIED SHADED PARASOL AND HALF AN OUNCE OF CONCENTRATED MANA...." Faust began trailing off, reciting the recipe of a never-before-heard, probably extremely lethal drug not even he knows wtf it's meant to do, with ingredients more illegal and diabolical than simple cannabis like the ground-up heart of an Old God, and some weird shit called 'Necrium', whatever that is. Right in front of the king.

"This. Is. Going. To. Be. The. Best. Trip. EVER."

He completely forgot that he couldn't get high because of interdimensional gnome bag shenanigans.

Ozirmok [NPC] + Azhi

"How fortunate it is, then, that this is all just hypothetical," Ozirmok said, his voice carrying layers of intent, as he nodded in understanding with a smile. "Nonetheless, theorems are created by testing out hypotheses, so as a man of progress, I will be sure to... look into this one, if you catch my meaning."

"Now, since the completely coincidental summoning of Mr. Baphomet was indeed just a freakish fluke of nature, I will be on my way, to the villa of a certain archmage living nearby. Perhaps to support him regarding conjugal matters, and other such things. Then I will probably head home to have words with Mr. Baphomet and I will attempt to give him some good life advice, as friends often do. Today's events have truly rattled my bones."

Ozirmok walked back with a whistle, and his wyvern approached and humbly lowered itself, letting the king saddle it and take its reins. "I bid you farewell and a good day, citizens." With a shrill screech, the wyvern flapped its wings and took off like a rocket, heading west.

The king's aura receded soon after. The keen positivity of his majesty seemed to fade away, very slowly, but some elements; pieces of the peace and serenity remained in the minds of those present.

Azhi practically sagged, his face becoming long and almost tired. The boy approached Faust, then poked him in the back of the skull. "Hey! Why did your pedophiliac assistant give me a crystal that summoned Baphomet of all things? Wasn't it supposed to conjure up an Avangion or something like that? What kind of people do you hire, anyway? Hey, I'm talking to you!" Azhi said incredulously, as he poked Faust repeatedly, unaware he grabbed the wrong crystal due to being molested at the time by the aforementioned assistant. He decided to pester Faust, and leave scolding Christopher to the mother bear.

Brom Beararm
It took him a minute to calm his rage when the King's aura left. The good thoughts and peacefulness that came with that aura struck him, as Brom was not used to such powerful magic. It wasn't a bad thing, it just forced him to be happier and innocent. It forced him to be like someone he wasn't, someone he hadn't been in many years. While this might have been fine on its own, the sudden departure of the king ended the aura rapidly. It took his happy thoughts, his peace, and ripped it out of him like a newborn baby from a womb. It left him without these emotions, making him cold and angry. It clouded his judgement, and allowed himself to be overtaken with his anger. This probably wouldn't stick around, but at the moment, he did not take into account it was a child who made a mistake. At this moment, he saw someone who he believed was too stupid to listen to his advice, and he was pissed.

He stormed over to Evelyn, though less of furious speed walking and more rigid steps. "Can I ask you a question?" He said quietly, still not realizing that he was talking to a child. "Do you ever think twice about what you do? Or even once for that matter? How could you let this happen? I warned you-I warned EVERYONE here that this was a bad idea. I said this was stupid, too many things could go wrong. Did you listen? No! You summoned a GOD DAMN lord of hell, or wherever that thing crawled out of! How could you be so stupid?! I thought magic required strength of mind, not idiotic and rash decisions that a rapid dog would be smart enough to avoid!"

He was not violent with this, though he may have looked rather intimidating due to his size and anger. He would never strike her, or draw a weapon. He wouldn't touch her, but that wouldn't stop him from giving her a piece of his mind.

"Seriously, you're lucky the King saved our asses here! And how could you for a second deny bringing in a priest, or any help? You think you could handle it? You think any of us would trust you to handle your own mistakes when you can't ask for help when you clearly need it? Of course not! You think you can do anything you want, and it doesn't matter because mama will make it all better, or it doesn't effect you so who cares right? This is the problem with you magic folk, you think you can do whatever you want despite the consequences until something effects you-and then you just move on to the next thing that will terrorize the world! Learn to think! You're not a God, and you're sure as hell not loved by the people who have to clean up your messes! How many more times do you have to mess up before you figure out that you need to stop being an irresponsible brat and maybe try thinking for a change?!"

Bethany Evelyn - "The Arcanist Absolute" Armitage

At the mentioning of a group of demon summoning cultists Evelyn had been prepared to speak up though her mother had said something first. She looked at him pouting a bit at having her moment of speaking up and coming off important thwarted though she didn't raise her voice in response. If she really needed to make up some lies before essentially admitting to the king their situation it was on her mother. It seemed rather cumbersome to go and lie just to give away such information. Evelyn was less into coming up with elaborate lies... though her earlier attempts to quell Baphomet in a way proved otherwise. The main point was she was one who tended to give the truth while weaving certain details careful around in order to create a story that works to her benefit without being that far from the truth! As the king departed she let out a sigh of both relief and frustration looking to her mother.

"I could of handled it myself! No reason hiding I was the one who summoned it, its not as if it was all on purpose... and the fact it was even suppose to be a demon could of been..." She spoke as if to air grievances with her mother trying to protect her when suddenly Brom came up speaking up to her. She looked on seemingly a bit puzzled at first though that look of confusing quickly became sharper as it changed into a glare. She looked up at him resting her hands on her side showing a bit of her own attitude letting him speak up. It might look like it was her acting kind though in her head she was already working on a response as he spoke wanting to come off in a way that made her come off much stronger and more precise as to discredit him. She wasn't fond of someone attempting to step upon her ego. She had no interest in being belittled.

"I'll have you know I more then think about what I do, it might be hard to register in your little brain but I tend to plan things out several steps ahead in order to surmise the best solution with minimal risk with the highest probability of success! utilizing a demon was the easiest way to create a sense of threat, one that would elect a fearful response from our target, thus making the need for our rescue that much more needed, as well as emphasizing the danger that the two bit archmage was trying to protect her from! It would of elicited the best emotional response in order to counteract any of his sabotage more effectively. Such an egomaniac like that, one so dangerous needs a force in its life to keep it in check and some risk, small as it was meant to be wouldn't of been remotely any danger for us." She spoke mentioning the egomaniac portion a bit ironically, granted it wasn't something she really would recognize herself.

"Second off, Baphomet was clearly in a state of calm in which he was willing to join in and help our cause. He showed no signs of being trouble and was more then willing to help. Raising any suspicion with him would only elevate the risk he might go against the plan and just go on a rampage. A priest or other figure would of only raised suspicion that much more we were up to something. He could of worked with us and been on his way for all you know! Besides, I am far more talented then you can comprehend, and I'd even be willing to admit everyone where is likely of some skill themselves. If things really got bad and we needed a holy figure to suppress Baphomet I could of brought... him... if i needed to in mere seconds. I am not some two bit sorcerer who hasn't the faintest clue on navigating the arcane or astral planes to travel places quickly. I'll have you know I was casting spells likely before you even lifted up your first blade!" She spoke, as to belittle him and raise up her own ego more despite the fact given age alone it wasn't likely true.

"Third, and most important of all... I didn't summon Baphomet on purpose you ignoramus! Clearly I utilized a catalyst in the form of a crystal which caused such a demonic lord to come instead of something a talented Arcanists such of myself would of picked out to cause maximum distress while being easy enough for our party to deal with. Even a child would know that the spell casting utilizing crystals, scrolls, or other magic stimulants of that nature will only conjure the effect of which was effectively 'cast' upon it in its creation. I merely act to utilize my mana in order to activate the object for it to trigger its transcribed incantation. If you want to blame someone blame numskull over there for getting my clueless brother the wrong crystal!" She spoke as she pointed over towards Faust as he was by that strange new girl and her brothers, not aware her little bother had been complaining to him about the very same thing being too lost in being yelled at and feeling the need to bite back with her own words. After pointing she crossed her arms shooting a strong glare clearly not at all happy to be talked down to in such a way. Her own ego wouldn't allow any responsibility to be placed on herself, even if all things considered she was in at least part at fault even if not as much as Brom seemed to insinuate.

Christopher Armitage

Christopher frowned, his mood visibly soured as he interacted with Faust. Don't get him wrong, Faust was a loyal and very engaged partner and customer which paid the bills for his research but he was a bit too excited for his likes. Are all un-dead so active into their old age? Oh well not like it matters, business is business.

He was about to follow the floating head to his Japanese pornography storehouse that he masqueraded as some sort of magic shop before he felt as if someone disappointed was now looking at him. Turning around he notices that the origin of those stares were none other than his mother. The oldest Armitage thinks for a moment what he could've done to upset his mother.

He was visiting every week? Check.

He made sure to not give in too much to his little brother's less socially acceptable requests? Check.

And then it hit him, he was interacting with a lich, that's what must have been it right? Christopher sighs, he certainly understood where she came from but Faust wasn't more of a senior citizen who just happened to know how to kill someone by turning them inside out and really liked good quality weed that he couldn't smoke than a dangerous lich. Still he handed off the plastic bag to the skimpily dressed girl in witch cosplay that appeared to be the latest unfortunate assistant to the lich;

"Don't have sex with it, it gives the plants too much moisture." he says before walking up to Shri.

Once he walked over to her he waited there for a second trying to conjure what to say before simply bowing;

"I apologize." staying in the bow.

Two days later...
Cesimir's Mansion

After not hearing from Cesimir for a day, the team was finally called back to his mansion.

Now, everyone stood in a small meeting room, with Cesimir propped up against the table without his staff and in visibly lighter robes; casual wear for a magician, rather than strictly businesslike, but still wearing his signature mask and gloves.

"Hello everyone," Cesimir grunted, Lady Runagate enjoying tea in a seat behind him with Sebastian the monkey butler serving her refreshments. On the table, there was a small, elegant wand from cyan enamel.

"Before we begin today's meeting, I'd like to officially congratulate you on ruining my lif--" ZZZZAP! Cesimir screamed out in pain, dropping to the ground as he was mercilessly tormented by a torture device, Lady Runagate holding up her wand but not aiming it specifically at him.

"A-as you can see," Cesimir said blearily, getting to his knees, his legs too wobbly to stand, "The king has provided my lovely spouse with a very nice toy, which I intend to destroy the moment I get my hands on-" ZZZZAP!

Lady Runagate smiled at him. "Lord Luthandriel devised it, I doubt you will be able to do anything about it."

"When I'm done, they won't find the body," Cesimir threatened, then held his hands up in surrender when Calista raised the wand. "Wait, no, please, no, I'm sorr--" ZZZAP!

After thrashing on the ground for several seconds, Cesimir used the help of a golem and the table, slowly standing up. The golem kept its hands under Cesimir's armpits to ensure he wouldn't sag back down to the ground from a lack of vitality in his legs.

"Let's begin," he said, revealing some enmity and ignominy. "His Majesty, let us bask in his radiance, has contracted you, specifically, with a dungeon crawl to retrieve the dreaded Goblet of Malice. I'll teleport you there, but that's as far as I'm getting involved in this disaster. Knowing how life goes, it'll probably result in the kingdom's inevitable destruction, but, hey, you didn't hear that from me, and Luthandriel is weirdly confident about this. Any questions?"

"That's very kind of his Majesty," Shri said. Having had time to actually prepare for this meeting, she's donned her armor once more and looked rather regal and surprisingly radiant in the blue and gold theme. She made no effort to conceal her delight in Cesimir's suffering and even gave the Lady Runagate a complimentary nod of approval.

Glancing back at her children and her newly met friends and companions, the Demon shook her head slowly. "No questions you'll likely be able to answer beyond how we expect to return."

Sir Mann I. Fuchsalot
574642Sir Mann I. Fuchalot entered the room graciously, gloriously and definitively not gayly, his greaves hanging low and his machine gun slung forwards pointing down, extending multiples of inches beyond his crotch to represent his magnificent, magnanimous, manly member. As today was the first day of his employment with the Cesimir company, after being given a ultimatum to either get a real job or be arrested for pillaging the corpses of dead guards, he decided to get dressed nicely today, with a nice coned helmet and a brand spanking new tabard, and don't call it a fucking surcoat you ingrate.

Entering he notices the demonness, he would lie if he said he didn't want to show her the righteous way but apparently she was married to another member of the clergy, and you know how the saying goes "Brethren before Wenches" so he abstained. On the other hand the newly married Lady Runegate with her attitude definitively looked like someone in need of spiritual guidance, and who would he be if he didn't provide it when it was necessary?

The knight walked calmly up to Cesimir, and walked past him without speaking to him before sliding into a one knee stance holding the hand of the Lady, all of thi was done expertly in one movement as it's proper.

"Mine god, nev'r has't I expected that I, with mine own eyes would receiveth to see a damsel of such grace and beauty. t saddens me that thee art already united with another sir ere I hadst the chance to knoweth more deeply. But if 't be true thee ever wanteth to discuss the holy scriptures in private I'd beest more than joyous to."

Brom Beararm
Destruction of the Kingdom? What the hell? What could possibly be a good idea if even this madman thought it was a bad idea. First the guild wants to summon a demon, and now they are after something called the DREADED Goblet of MALICE?! This was not what he signed up for. Not for the first time, but perhaps for the last, he looked around at those who were near him. Magi, Demons, Undead. Powerful warriors that he would never match up to, and people that didn't listen to him, no matter if his words had wisdom or if they lacked it. Brom was not an old man, but he was too old to be wasting the last of his years here. Hell, this group could be the reason the world ended. He needed to be ready for that, or at least spend his last few days doing what he loved-not spending it with these people.

"No..." He said quietly. "I cannot accept that. Goblet of Malice? That's not what I joined here to do. I joined here to help the realm, not to threaten it. I came to help people and this...this isn't helping anyone. You guys won't need me, and I don't want to spend my last minutes here. If this world is to be forged by those with powerful magic and immortal souls, so be it. I will return to where I belong and prepare for the end, whether it is old age or a disaster that you lot caused. I have watched you all for a long time wondering what gives you the right to decide whether thousands live or die. I still don't know, aside from a sick God or luck. Either way, I will not spend my final hours willingly looking for a Goblet of Malice."

He turned and walked off, not sure where he would go. This was not his place, and these were not his people. He didn't belong here, and doubted he would ever. He was not the one that would bend worlds and save kingdoms. He was one that would do what he could to be good, and help people in any way he could. This was not helping people, this was running errands for someone who was only in charge because he could kill anyone who opposed. This was the way of the world, he understood that, but he didn't need to be a part of the conquest.

"Farewell. If our paths cross again, I will buy you all a drink. Till then, I wish you all terrible fortune in destroying the realm, but hope you all figure out why some are gifted with magic and others are not."

And that was it. He had said his part, and was done. He turned and left to settle down elsewhere. As a smith, a guide, who knew. He would do good elsewhere to the best of his ability, but not here. He could only hope that one day someone who was powerful enough to make a difference could show the world the inherit danger magic possessed. He hoped that they would be good and just, and find a way to regulate the destructive power that so many had. But that someone was not in this world today, and that someone would probably not be born for many years. But if that someone did come to exist, Brom had no doubt that this person would be a Legend.
