Fantasy Of Darkness and Dragon Knights

Avatar Arvis

The Last Avatar
Long ago, the world of Vandara faced a terrible danger. For eons, Dragonskind had watched over the races and help maintain balance in the world. And era of peace ruled over this unique world for so long, no one actually remembered a time before. But then one fateful night a meteor fell from the sky, landing in the far outskirts. It was this event that would forever change the fate of Vandara and her children. The meteor was made of a magical crystal then awakened the evil within people's hearts. Soon anger, greed, hate and all manner of negative emotions began to spread across the world. People infected by the crystal were able to use magic far more powerful than normal magic, for the source of this magic was life itself. Death spread across the world like an unstoppable disease. Battles raged that shook the very world, the Dragons fighting to destroy those that used the life draining Tor Magic.

When the Tor user's were at their peak and their power seemed insurmountable, a discovery borne from a desperate act reignited a flicker of hope. Swords made from Draconium allowed humans to gain enormous power upon entering a contract with a Dragon. Thus the Dragon Knights were created. These warriors, eight in total, were the force needed to push back the tide. Together, the Dragons and their Dragon Knights destroyed the Tor users and finally ended the war. Slowly Vandara began to return to the light. The races rebuilt their cities and towns, but the seeds of darkness had forever been planted within the hearts of mortals. It became evident that the Dragon Knights were still needed, so generations passed, new Dragon Knights being chosen every ten years. Only 7 Knights remain to this day, for the 8th Dragon has never chosen a successor for her blade.

Upon the Eve of Renewal, a Red Moon shall rise.
Bound by power long lost, the seal will break.
Once again free, the Tor will ravage and destroy.
Into chaos the Vandara will fall.
The Eighth's return marks the Beginning of the End.

Present day 3,000 years later.

Vandara is a thriving world. Technology and magic have long since merged together, allowing for incredible advances in both. Cities float in the skies as the world below flourishes. The Renewal Ceremony held every ten years is about to begin. Young adult of the races is allowed to touch the Dragon Blades in hopes of the sword reacting to them, signifying they have been chosen as the new Knight. This event takes a dramatic twist when the Eighth Dragon Blade reacts for the very first time over 3,000 years. Shortly thereafter, strange creatures and reports begin to flow into the Vandaran capital. Darkness has been awakened and the cursed magic of the Tor is once again wreaking havoc. The new Dragon Knights will have to master their new powers quickly if they hope to survive long enough to stand a chance against Tor. Evil lurks in every corner and the Dragon Knights can only save their world if they can become a team. What dangers await our heroes?

I would like to reserve the shadow knight if that is still possible, pls.

Rusty of Shackleford Rusty of Shackleford the blades when unbound are simply elegant looking swords. But they indeed change to fit their wielder. So it could turn into a bow that shoots arrows of elemental magic, a war hammer or ax, a pair of berserker gauntlets. I will say limits are it must be something inclined to fighting and handheld

Would it be possible to use a tiefling character?

Since I seem to have almost all of the slots filled, I will be working on the main thread today.
Abyss Abyss what is a tiefling?
A tiefling is a D&D race which is basically half human, half demon. One of these guys.
latest

Typically characterized by the horns and tail and can come in a bunch of different colors

They're decendants of a specific lineage of humans who's ancestors once made a pact with demon. Due to the pact they have developed a unique appearence passed along the lineage.

They are very rare (largely due to the stigma still held against their ancestors for working with evil forces), and have no specific land of origin or culture save for a few naming customs.

Just how advanced is tech? Is it steampunk level, modern day, futuristic, etc...?

so just outta curiosity, what’s the selection process for these dragon knights? I understand they touch the blade and see if it reacts, but there has to be some kind of criteria for the selection?? Do they just let anyone walk up to the blade to touch it? Or is there some kind of process they go through to pick the best possible candidates to try the blades?

Abyss Abyss the technology will be futuristic. Think of floating cities, hard light holograms, flying cars. The idea is that magic provides the power for all of it, and allows for incredible advancement. The goal of such a setting is that there is so much more able to be lost during the war to come.

On that not, there will be very advanced weaponry involved such as magic cannons and other such. However the Dragon Knights' weapons will be on par or stronger than most weapons upon mastery of their powers.

explosiveKitten explosiveKitten the process is both simple and complicated. There are trials to undergo for people to become candidates for the swords. They are tested in many different field of character, truly grueling and only those that pass the trials have chance to touch the blades. But in all honesty it would be the dragon that the blade is connected too that would chose the wielder.

And to answer the next possible questions:

The swords can't be broken. They will not work for anyone else. The swords have two forms: Base form in which it takes when it chooses a knight, and Awakened when the Knight invokes the Dragon's full power which transforms the sword into a more fantastic form and often changes the appearance of the Knight with either physical alterations or unique armor.

I'd like to request you add one more, the null knight for my character; the janitor who bumped into a sword by accident
powers; nothing at first
then it just makes you extremely plain and unassuming (maybe a stealth advantage)
