Full Name: Chahaya Arif (pronounced Chuh-hi-yuh Ah-riff)
Name Meaning: Chahaya means “light” in Indonesian, whereas Arif refers to one who is “knowledgeable or wise" and literally means "I know" in Arabic. A common mistake is people from other cultures assuming that Arif is a surname, whereas it is really his stepfather’s given name, as is customary in parts of Indonesia where surnames are not the norm.
Nicknames: To his students and people in general, Chahaya introduces himself as Cha-Cha but doesn't mind Chaya either. In his own words, he wants “none of that Professor nonsense,” and is sometimes still called “Professor Arif” by first-years who insist on propriety, even though it’s just incorrect. Among his colleagues, he’s gotten some nastier nicknames, including Mind Games, Nightmare Fuel, and Crazy Bastard. The only flattering one that Cha-Cha has retained from his days as a student is Bubbles, on account of his effervescent personality. Among the magical criminal underworld, he was known as Night Bird or Iblis, the Indonesian word for "demon."
Gender: Male
Age: 32, but he is often mistaken for much younger on account of his boyish looks. He doesn't smile too frequently, but when he does, they glow, which adds to the youthful illusion.
Birthdate: March 23rd. He was born at the end of Indonesia's wet season during a particularly brutal thunderstorm that upended his city, which seems symbolic for his overall disposition.

Nationality: Indonesian, though Cha-Cha has been banned from his home country on account of egregious crimes committed there, including a plan to blow up Jakarta that he almost pulled off. Technically he’s also banned from Russia, but after a lot of palm-greasing, an exception has been made so that he can revisit Koldovstoretz for the tournament and never again. He speaks fluent Sundanese, Indonesian, English, and Spanish. To a lesser extent, he has a rudimentary verbal knowledge of Chinese, Arabic, and Russian but can't read any of them.
School: Teaches at Castelobruxo but attended Koldovstoretz. Was originally supposed to attend Mahoutokoro, but Koldovstoretz waived his international tuition on account of exceptional magical aptitude, and money talks.
Rank: Professor, and a very unconventional one at that.
Year: This is Cha-Cha’s sixth year of teaching at Castelobruxo. Fortunately, he is now a mostly fluent Spanish speaker, which wasn’t the case when he first got the job. Portuguese is a whole ‘nother ball game though, and his ain’t good.
House: At Koldovstoretz he was Sorted into the Red Court or Court of Beauty, those who are most proficient with Charms and Transfiguration, though later Cha-Cha would find that his real talents lie in Occlumency and Legilimency. On account of his unique gifts, he jokes that he should have been in a separate Gold Court at Koldovstoretz, especially now that his second wand has less than an aptitude for spellwork than his original one. Although never a student, Cha-Cha once underwent the Sorting ceremony at Castelobruxo in his first year teaching there and was Sorted into Sylph, those who favor the imagination and are also sly and dreamers.
Wand: In his student days, Cha-Cha’s first wand was blackthorn and billywig stinger, 12.5", pliant, but he (in)famously broke this wand in the final challenge of the Triwizard Tournament that he won for Koldovstoretz fifteen years ago. His current wand is black walnut and vampire fang, 10.75", fairly bendy. Vampire fang is an extremely rare core that adapts to either Dark or Light magic with equal ease; whatever its inclination, it is an excellent potion stirrer.
Pet: Not currently, but when Cha-Cha was a student he had a sort-of pet unicorn that he competed with in very illegal races. He renamed the unicorn Kepo, an Indonesian word that describes a busybody or gossipmonger. Nowadays he thinks about getting a pet ferret but hasn't yet.

Blood Status: Half-blood, but until age fourteen, he was under the belief that he was Muggle-born. Occasionally he still lies and claims that he is.
Patronus: Originally a boa constrictor, currently Cha-Cha’s Patronus is a red panda. He speculates the shift was in part caused by his drastically different second wand (and also considerable changes in his sanity prolly played a role too). Interestingly, ever since his Patronus shifted, snakes seem to hate him with a burning passion, a feeling that Cha-Cha reciprocates. He thinks snakes are intrinsically evil creatures.
Boggart: Sasaki Ken’ichi, former Mahoutokoro student and runner-up to the Triwizard Tournament that Cha-Cha won. Sasaki would later become the first person that Cha-Cha has killed.
Quidditch: Back in his day he was a Chaser. Now he occasionally plays for fun, assuming that others want to play with him… which is rarely the case.
Preferred Classes: When he was a student, Cha-Cha always had exemplary grades in Magical Theory and Alchemy, the latter of which is a subtle nod to his placement in Koldovstoretz’s Red Court. He also thoroughly enjoyed Care of Magical Creatures, with an especial adoration of unicorns and other equine beasts such as pegasi, hippogriffs, and Thestrals. Overall, Cha-Cha was a very well-rounded student with shortcomings only in Ancient Studies and Muggle Music, because this man has no sense of rhythm whatsoever. However, his truest gifts lie in Occlumency & Legilimency, this being the start of his sixth year teaching it at Castelobruxo. For better or worse, Cha-Cha is presently recognized as one of the most skilled Legilimens in the Wizarding World.

Appearance: Based on looks alone, you'd never guess that one as elegant and seemingly harmless as Cha-Cha can hold such capacity for wickedness. He is candy-coated poison, the face of an angel who's hiding horns. For starters, Cha-Cha appears deceptively young for his age; in fact, his very first day teaching at Castelobruxo, he was mistaken for a student. His unlined face comprises slender, straight features, so pretty that they verge on feminine a little bit. He has a long, vaguely rectangular face with his forehead and jaw both coming to squarish points. As is typical of most Asians, these features are complemented by a subtle nose and eyebrow ridges. When Cha-Cha smiles his chin narrows to a distinct point that is--somehow--slightly villainous in nature. He has a spare upper lip and a full lower one, and together, they have a constant mischievous curve. He has pale skin with a healthy golden undertone, but amid the equatorial tropics of both his homeland and his current Brazilian residence, it's not enough to keep him from burning when exposed to abundant sun. Forming a stark contrast with his complexion, his hair is a soft black reminiscent of Coca-Cola or, when the sun hits it just right, chocolate cherry, with warm reddish highlights becoming visible. Typically tied back in a short ponytail, Cha-Cha's hair is a little past shoulder-length and wavy, with dangly bangs that frame his face in loose tendrils. He will wear his hair down only very occasionally when he's teaching, but when he does it's as if he's just stepped off a photoshoot, with his hair wind-tossed in a swashbuckling way that speaks of high-seas adventure.
Cha-Cha's eyebrows are wispy, not nearly so dark as his hair, and form perfectly straight lines despite his various expressions, giving him a calm, serene disposition. His eyes are velvet black and seductive, inky pools of blackness that stretch into infinity, wells that are impossible not to lose oneself in. When Cha-Cha is trying to establish a rapport, he has a certain way of veiling his eyes with his lashes that is right in between inducing a sense of calm and inviting... flirtatiousness. They have a somewhat slanted quality at the corners, crinkling when he smiles. On the flipside, Cha-Cha is rather scrawny, at a dearth of both fat and muscle, making him a collection of lines and angles. He doesn't work out and, on top of that, childhood malnutrition has made him less tall or broad than he probably could have achieved. Yet he's no stranger to physical labor; his current job is only his second white-collar one, and an adolescence of racing unicorns has given him almost surreal lower-body strength. Finally, he is very inked up, all up and down the left side of his back and both sides of his chest... more on that later.
Wardrobe: He somehow mingles sophisticated with edgy and the result is devilishly handsome, like a hit man and his handler went out for a drink. Cha-Cha maintains a dangerous, subtly provocative wardrobe even when teaching, oftentimes foregoing bland robes for blue or black jeans or leather pants, with a plain or printed T-shirt on top. The finishing touch to his look is often a form-fitting white leather jacket, a flashy affectation that he likes to tell people he got from a basement-price Indonesian bazaar for the equivalent of several American dollars, when in reality he more likely stole it. All of his jackets are enchanted with spells that make them weigh feather light yet are durable enough to stop a bullet; a wise precaution, as there are many who would like to see him dead. He's also a sucker for heeled boots, his typical pair being tall leather ones that climb halfway up his shin, syrupy brown in color. On formal events, Cha-Cha cleans up nicely in a brightly-colored, tieless suit, still forsaking robes because they're not good for fighting, he says. In reality, he just enjoys playing up the bad-boy angle and using his good looks to his advantage. He sometimes accessorizes with a black Panama hat, especially if it's a raining day and he's walking, biking, or riding a broomstick to his destination.

Scent: Wood and spices, something that reminds you of old, grand furniture, dark mahogany, something close to pinewood. Rich and mellow, warm, mildly dusty. Sweet, dark, maybe just a little bit spicy. Rosemary with a touch of incense is the closest thing he smells like, but that's not exactly it either. It's an aroma like old, antique things and eras gone by, something soothing and complex that just draws you in and relaxes you a little too much as you try to pinpoint exactly what it is. A lovely, deadly recipe to lull you into the clutches of sleep and surrender.
Height & Weight: 5'7" & 135 lbs. Once Cha-Cha got into a duel with a Dark witch who commented that, after hearing of his notorious reputation, she expected him to be taller. Nothing but cinders remained of her after that duel.
Body Modifications: You may not notice it at first glance, but Cha-Cha has canine teeth sharpened to subtle points, giving him a borderline sinister smile when he flashes teeth. Reformed Dark wizard that he is, rumor has it that once he kills an enemy wizard, he enjoys drinking the victim's blood straight from their veins. Furthermore, he has two piercings: a vertical eyebrow piercing on the right side of his face, and a navel piercing, the latter of which tends to catch a lot of people by surprise (but why should it, really, once you've seen his smile?). Cha-Cha has a variety of tattoos that he's very proud of, boasting an inked chest, flank, and abdominals, mostly in black but also with here-and-there glints of white and red ink. Perhaps somewhat peculiarly, only the left side of his back is tattooed, but it is an unbroken wall of ink from shoulder blade to waist, as is the case with his left leg. More than one Westerner has mistaken him for a Yakuza member based on his sheer volume of tattoos and fashion sense before.
Leg, chest, back, flank
Physical Disabilities: Iron-deficiency anemia that makes him very sensitive to cold environments, and a shoulder that suffered a compound fracture in a Quidditch match when he took a Bludger at 90mph. Despite receiving surgery, occasionally his right shoulder still gives him pain, and it can't bear as much weight as his left shoulder. Fortunately, he is left-handed.
Faceclaim: Paing Takhon

Personality: Depending on how you judge him, Chahaya Arif is either a tragic hero and victim of circumstance or a master manipulator and despicable anti-villain, but one thing remains clear: He is a magnificent bastard however way you cut it. As a highly gifted Legilimens capable of gleaning others' thoughts both wandlessly and non-verbally, Cha-Cha is powerful beyond most wizards' wildest dreams. And he really, really tried hard to use his gifts for good, but unfortunately in his case, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Nowadays, he is much more discreet and respectful in terms of keeping out of people's heads, generally only glimpsing thoughts when others invite him inside or when it pertains to a lesson, but this was only after a steep learning curve. As a result of his ability, Cha-Cha is highly attuned to that which isn't immediately obvious, to the hidden room behind the curtain, as he's learned that there are often huge discrepancies between what people think and do. Unsurprisingly, his classes have an intensely psychological component. He believes that, whether they know it or not, every person is looking to be loved, meaning that they wish to be seen, recognized, and understood. Every person, whether consciously or not, is driven by goals and emotional needs. People are puzzles, and when their missing piece is found, they open themselves to external influence. Thus, as he teaches it, the cornerstone to Legilimency is figuring out what people want by analyzing their behavior. And Cha-Cha is a sucker for cause and effect. Have what a person wants, make it tangible to them, and in turn you can get them to do what you want. This simple little formula is basically his way of life.
At the core of Cha-Cha's personality is fear of losing control of himself and his abilities again, as he's done in the past. He's prone to withdrawing and isolating himself because, when in the grip of intense emotions, his Legilimency has a mind of its own. He will delve deep into others' memories and feelings without intending to, and sometimes when he is afraid for his own mortality or that of a loved one, his will imposes itself on the person threatening him. As a result, Cha-Cha tries to drastically limit how much he uses his Legilimency compared to in the past, when he didn't need a reason to leaf through a person's deepest, darkest secrets. He is afraid that his power is too great for him to wield, and if not kept in check, it will drive him mad as it once did, fulfilling his ambitions at whatever ruthless cost. Cha-Cha is often wary of skin-to-skin contact, as it is difficult to keep himself from slipping into someone else's consciousness when this happens. Because of this, he often shies away when others go in for hugs or handshakes.
However, his paranoia is not just limited to himself and his gifts. He is deeply suspicious of other people, constantly testing them to see how they'll react in an effort to determine whether they can be trusted with further information. He suspects others of betraying him before they do, and he'll seek out signs to confirm their nefarious intentions. Sometimes he'll just imagine them into existence. As a result, Cha-Cha subconsciously strives for control over others in proportion to their importance to his life, which is completely paradoxical to his fear of letting his Legilimency grow out of hand. He does not want his Legilimency to take control of him, yet he does not seem to know how to function without it. Anyway, he is quick to assume that others will abandon him or try to use his weaknesses against him, and so he justifies manipulating them to keep them hanging on and coming back to him.
When Cha-Cha feels particular vulnerable, he will put on a show of strength to discourage others from attacking him while he is down. This behavior manifests even when he does not always have a logical reason to believe others will turn. Trust is perhaps the hardest thing for him, as he has felt fundamentally alone and misunderstood for his whole life on account of his unique abilities. Paradoxically, these feelings of separation from the world leave him feeling thankful that he's not "common," and perhaps he feels a little superior in this regard, yet he simultaneously envies others' abilities to fit in without trying. He feels cut off from the cheap thrills and simple forms of happiness that so many people readily enjoy: having a girlfriend, a nice car, and a weekly barhop to forget the pain. He feels as though his problems cannot be so easily solved. Thus, his gifts serve as both a blessing and a curse in his eyes. He goes back and forth between feeling perceiving himself as one of the enlightened elite and deep feelings of shame. Fears of somehow being defective and flawed and alone.
Cha-Cha has a limited social battery and reserves of energy. As a result, he's not the wild and crazy type who will dive head-first into hare-brained ideas. Rather, he's skeptical and pragmatic and somewhat wary of novel experiences. He's the type to analyze and carefully consider before acting. While he's plenty disorganized with both his schedules and belongings, he generally needs some notice before you spring sudden plans on him, as he does not like feeling caught off-guard. However, given some time to acclimate to ideas, Cha-Cha is pretty open-minded, and he usually won't knock something before he tries it. He's a deep thinker, taking plenty of time to sort out his thoughts and feelings because he genuinely enjoys introspection. In the moment, he's rarely aware of exactly what he's feeling until he's had time to reflect on a situation, as in the present he's more attuned to the vibe around him. As a result of this disconnect with himself, he sees his identity shifting and molding itself in accordance to his experiences, and more importantly, his social roles and relations to other people. For instance, he's quicker to think of himself as a professor or a son or a friend to someone else than to define himself by his own goals or characteristics.
He has a sharp mind, an endless curiosity, and a fondness for questions that can't be easily answered. As a result, Cha-Cha is on a constant quest for truth, especially as it pertains to other people--finding out what drives them and makes them tic. His personal opinions are fluid, and even small interactions with other people have the potential to update his mental files of them. He reads between the lines and analyzes tones and micro-expressions like a human lie detector. Nonetheless, Cha-Cha is modest without intending to be, and doesn't believe that he is particularly talented or qualified. He is creative, but he needs others' reassurance to believe it. Of course, he's prone to overthinking compliments and occasionally suspecting the giver of trying to manipulate him, yet the support of his loved ones is important to his self-worth. When he trusts someone, he is more inclined to reveal his vulnerable side and vent about the bad day he's had. On the flipside, he is very empathetic of others' suffering and takes on their problems as his own, doing everything in his power to solve them.

— Bima Soleh // Biological Father // Wizard // Deceased
Hometown: Bandung, Indonesia. However, Indonesia is mostly governed by local laws, so he considers himself Sundanese, one of the main ethnic groups of Java, before Indonesian.
Backstory:
Chahaya was born to a single-mother Muggle woman named Endah Kersen in West Java and was raised in a half-step above abject poverty. Endah, having previously worked as a model who was occasionally commissioned by her company as a sex worker to high-paying customers, had her modeling career ended when she was raped in an alley one night by a well-dressed drunk. When she fought back, the man hit her across the face with a glass bottle and continued having his way with her. As if this weren't traumatic enough, the newfound scar that she was left with was cause for her modeling company to fire her, claiming that her beauty was marred and she would no longer be a profitable investment. Unable to afford rent in her previous apartment, she was forced to downgrade to a straw hut as she looked for new work. Endah also discovered some weeks later that the forced sexual encounter had left her with child. With abortion being way so far out of her price range that it wasn't an option, she delivered a son nine months later in a wooden bathtub on her own. She named the boy Chahaya, a name that means "light," hoping that he would restore the lost light in her life.
An unskilled worker with minimal formal education, Endah worked explicitly as a sex worker from then on, one who sold for a lower price due to the scar on her face. When she brought a man home, she would give Chahaya some money and send him to the arcade, or if they were especially short on money that week, she sent him to bathe at the riverbank. As he aged, she cared less about the destination and just sent him away, and Chaya would find himself playing a variation of handball with the other street urchins, until some foul play inevitably occurred and some poor child would get pummeled and then the game would continue as if nothing had ever happened. A small and spindly child by healthy standards but not by slum standards, Chaya learned to throw hands and never think twice about going for a dirty shot, because he'd get the hell beaten out of him if he didn't. At age eight, after administering a particularly brutal beating to a boy who'd called his mother a palacuran, "whore," Chaya attracted the attention of a few older boys who introduced themselves as a special kind of family. Their close-knit group was called the Anak Bangsat, "sons of bitches" in Sundanese. Finding the name amusing given the context of the beating, Chaya agreed to work with them for a cut of the profits, and because he desperately wanted friends. His mother had never shown him anything but love, but he felt bad for seeking her attention because he knew her to be a hard worker.
Chaya was given red envelopes and told to give them to special clients who would meet him on street corners. Naturally curious, when he'd ask what was in the envelopes, the older boys would laugh and ignore his question and tell him just to do his job, and wanting them to like him, he obeyed.
A year of this passed, and Chaya started on the path of becoming a delinquent. He showed up to his lessons at the schoolhouse once or twice a week, when he wasn't running the streets with the other boys. They spray-painted walls and slashed the tires on fancy cars and took what they wanted, and Chaya learned by example to be a petty thief. Endah smacked him silly the first time that he surprised her with a loaf of bread she knew to be outside their price range, saying that she didn't raise a thief, and then they enjoyed the stolen loaf together in silence. She questioned future stolen goodies less as time went on, simply advising Chaya to be careful.
Wanting to please his mother, Chahaya one day got in his head to steal her a pretty gold bangle from a market. The shopkeeper caught him in the act and yelled for the guards, who cornered Chaya and manhandled him to the public square, where small-time felons were whipped because law enforcement didn't want to go through the hassle of a formal arrest and possible trial. Appraising the nine-year-old boy with the heavy gold bangle, an officer sentenced him to twenty lashes. Resolved to be tough like a real Anak Bangsat, Chaya took off his shirt in preparation of the whipping, knowing that it was one of a handful he owned and that his mother would have to buy him a new one otherwise. He screamed at the first lash he received, unable to fathom how he would withstand nineteen more.
And then a man Chaya had never seen before was shouting for it to stop and pushing his way up onto the stage, saying that he would take the boy's whipping instead. Not caring who received the punishment, Chaya was untied and pushed away, barely remembering to take his shirt with him. He watched, rooted in place as this stranger who had sacrificed himself received nineteen lashes without crying out. When the whipping was over, Chaya raced back to the man, compelled to thank him and find him medical care. He led the man back to his mother's hut, only a short distance from the public square. Endah, suspicious of strange men ever since the night Chaya was conceived, was angry at her son for bringing this one into her house, bleeding or not. But when Chahaya told her about the whipping, Endah thanked the man breathlessly and told him and her son to lie down where she could clean the wounds and stitch them to the best of her ability.
The man's name was Arif and he was a soldier of the Emirates temporarily stationed in Bundang. Realizing the family-of-two's very modest means, he treated Endah and Chaya to dinner that night as thanks for Endah stitching him up. It was the first time Chaya had ever been in a restaurant and the experience of being surrounded by white-linen tablecloths and people dressed in much nicer clothes than his own bewildered him slightly, but his anxieties were erased the moment the food arrived to the table. Arif stayed with Endah and Chaya for several days after that as their wounds healed, the single lash Chaya had received already scarring over in a twisting line on the left side of his back. In those few days, Arif taught Chaya to make falafel, the basics of driving a car, and self-defense tactics he'd learned in the military. The night before he was supposed to depart, he gave Chahaya a hunting knife with an inscription in Arabic, لا تستسلم أبدا دون قتال or "never give up without a fight."
Seeing the bond that he had created with her son, Endah asked Arif to stay with them for as long as he wanted. He accepted her offer, at least until he was stationed elsewhere. He took both of them shopping and got them some new clothes and did various home improvements. Chaya wasn't sure when they started to become romantically entangled, but they did. For the first time in his life, he had a father figure, one that he grew to love fiercely. Until then, his full name had been Chahaya, as many Indonesians do not have last names, especially if they are not of a high societal rank. But some Indonesians place the father's given name after their own to honor him, and Chahaya became Chahaya Arif, wearing his stepfather's name with pride.
Despite Arif's intentions to keep Chaya off the streets, Chaya was stubborn and he missed hanging out with the boys of Anak Bangsat, the self-proclaimed sons of bitches. Upon seeing him freshly washed and decked out in fine clothes for the first time, the other boys mocked him, asking if a rich man had adopted him in the past few days they hadn't seen him. Indignant, Chaya challenged the boy who'd made fun of him to combat, eager to show off the new moves that Arif had taught him. The bigger, older boy laughed and shoved Chaya into the dirt. He suggested that if Chaya was such a man, then why don't he open one of the envelopes he sold on street corners and try the stuff inside. Unwilling to back down from a challenge, Chaya accepted, and upon the other boy's instruction, he used a thin cylinder to breathe the powder into his nose.
Chaya didn't remember stumbling home, but he collapsed shortly thereafter, feeling indescribably weird. He woke on his sleeping pallet, his clothes soaked through with sweat and feeling like he was baking inside his own skin. Endah told him that he had a fever as she brushed the damp hair back from his forehead. Chaya lost consciousness again, and this time he hallucinated images, voices that weren't there. He saw butterflies balloon to the size of houses and rivers of blood run through the city of Bandung. He saw emotions without feeling them, fear manifesting as black-and-white streaks of lightning. Meanwhile, Endah was frantic and Arif was trying to calm her down to little avail, wondering what the hell this illness her son had contracted was and unsure who to call. Chaya awoke to his mother sitting on the edge of his bed, holding his sweaty hand and muttering to herself about what a horrible mother she was. "You're not a bad mother," Chaya responded, and Endah looked at him in amazement for, unbeknownst to him, she had not spoken aloud. But Endah didn't think too long on her astonishment, for she was ecstatic to see her son lucid and talking. After three days of confinement to a bed, Chaya's fever had broken.
Several days later, when he was feeling stronger, Chaya angrily stormed back to the street urchins who used to be his friends, livid with them for having tricked him. He challenged the same boy who'd given him the stuff inside the envelope to a fight, and when the bigger boy just laughed again, Chaya attacked. Somehow, Chaya knew the name of the stuff without ever having heard it said aloud outside of slang: kokain. He also somehow knew that the boy whom he was beating up suffered frequent abuse at the hands of his drunkard father and taunted him about it during their fight. And lastly, he knew exactly where and when the other boy was going to strike, and anticipating all his opponent's moves, Chaya didn't take a single hit.
The next day at Endah's hut, when Arif was out grocery shopping, a strange-looking Japanese lady paid them a visit, saying that she was here on behalf of Chahaya. Apparently the boy, freshly turned ten years old, had a strong magical aptitude, and next year they hoped to recruit him at a school for especially gifted children. Knowing that this lady must be pulling her leg because her son almost never attended his lessons and there was no way he was gifted, Endah tried to show the strange woman the door. But the woman soothed Endah's hostility, trying to explain that Chaya didn't have an ordinary regular academic aptitude. Chaya interrupted midway through, "What's Mahoutokoro like?" The woman looked at him a little funnily, surprised that an allegedly Muggle-born boy would know the name of the school she worked for when she was fairly certain she hadn't said it yet. Or maybe she'd just paid too many visits to similar-looking waifs these past few days and they were all blurring together. Anyway, she explained to Endah and Chahaya that, well, he was a wizard, and she'd been sent here to talk to him on account of an exceptional display of magic that had taken place the day before, linked to Chaya. To Chaya, the only magical display was kicking the living shit out of the boy who'd given him drugs that almost killed him. Anyway, when the Mahoutokoro woman started going on about tuition and living expenses, as Chaya was an international student and would have to pay to attend, Endah laughed bitterly and showed her to the door, saying that there was no way in hell they had that kind of money and goodbye.
As soon as she left, Chaya asked his mother, "What's a scam artist?" hearing her say the word as she talked to herself. But again, she hadn't spoken a single word aloud. Endah turned to her son and looked at him with brand-new eyes, weighing the ridiculous possibility of that woman--the scam artist, she'd thought privately--was right about her son being more than normal. He was, at the very least, able to intuit her thoughts without her speaking a single word, and as such his vocabulary was noticeably advanced for a ten-year-old boy who almost never attended school.
Half a year later, the small family was paid a similar visit by a white man in swelteringly hot clothes for the eighty-degree Indonesian winter. He introduced herself as a representative of Koldovstoretz, and Chaya immediately asked, "What kind of school has a class called Transfiguration?" struggling to pronounce the unfamiliar English word. The Russian man's--Koldovstoretz's Transfiguration professor--eyes widened until they looked ready to pop out of his face. He commented dryly how Transfiguration was a big word for a Muggle-born boy, and could Chaya tell him what a Muggle is? "A normal person," Chaya replied, just knowing the answer. "Like everyone I've met so far, except for the Japanese lady." Astounded with this boy's precocious knowledge, the Transfiguration professor--Smirnov, as Chahaya would come to know him--deduced that something else was at play. Going out on a limb, he reached out toward the boy's mind telepathically, a little sloppily because Legilimency wasn't a skill he often used.
But Smirnov heard Chaya's answers loud and clear, and just looking at each other, the two conducted a silent conversation flawlessly. Smirnov, a little sharper than the Mahoutokoro representative and sensitive to the family's obviously modest means, told Chaya telepathically, Normally international students have to pay considerable fees to attend Koldovstoretz. But I have a feeling they'll let you in for free when I tell them what you can do. Chaya responded if what they were doing wasn't normal for magical students, and Smirnov told Chaya that he was far more gifted than even he could fathom. Not used to praise and shy around strangers, Chaya shifted a little uncomfortably. And true to Smirnov's word, a month later a formal letter in English arrived that only Arif could read, explaining that not only would Chaya's tuition be waived, but should he choose to attend Koldovstoretz, they would foot the expenses for his books and robes and wand. And another season later, Smirnov had returned to assist Chaya to the school, telling him that they would have to wade into a black lake under the moonlight.
Prior to entering the imposing castle, only a fraction of which could be seen above the imposing lake, Smirnov told Cha-Cha--as he'd taken to calling the boy--that he may not want to reveal his hand to his peers. Mystified by this enigmatic comment, Cha-Cha detected an emotion that was not quite shame or concern but somewhere in between. Smirnov elaborated that Cha-Cha's peers may feel alienated by his telepathic ability, which was atypical for wizards so young to possess. That it may not be best for him to be open about what he could do, if he cared about not making his peers feel inferior. Craving desperately to be liked and have friends that weren't for profit, Cha-Cha took this advice to heart, resolving to keep his cards close to the vest. In his first year, he didn't have much of a social life at all. Being an international school, Koldovstoretz conducted classes in both English and Russian, the language of instruction being at the professor's discretion. Eleven-year-old Cha-Cha had a rudimentary understanding of the first and none of the second, meaning that few kids initiated conversation with him. He found that his closest friend throughout his first year--perhaps embarrassingly--remained Professor Smirnov, who applauded Cha-Cha for grasping Transfiguration concepts with minimal practice; the boy simply absorbed information like a sponge.
In his second year, Cha-Cha underwent the Sorting. It is customary for Koldovstoretz students to be uniformly sorted into the Grey Court for the entirety of their first years until they demonstrate magical aptitude in one realm or another. The Red Court or Court of Beauty, those who specialize in practical magic such as Charms or Transfiguration, chose Cha-Cha. Just as Smirnov, the Head of House, had suggested, Cha-Cha concealed his ability for Legilimency, locking it away in a box that he only opened on occasion. He strove amid his classes, performing with all his effort not just because this was his new purpose and it beat handing out envelopes on street corners (which it absolutely did) but Cha-Cha thirsted for knowledge to this world that had hidden itself from him for so long. He was a striver, and he had natural ability, and he didn't have a last name (a conundrum he tried to explain many times to majority white European students with mixed results), so Cha-Cha's closest friends were oftentimes his professors. Wanting to please Smirnov, he took the man's advice, almost never reaching out to probe with his Legilimency and feeling guilty when it happened of his own accord, though he had minimal idea why.
At the start of his fourth year, still ranked as one of the students with the highest grades but without many friends, Cha-Cha tried out for the Red Court Quidditch team and, against all odds, made it, despite having minimal prior knowledge of the game. To celebrate their selection, the newly-formed team decided to go out for a night on the town in the nearby city of St. Petersburg that weekend, and Cha-Cha, not quite knowing what this meant but wanting to explore it, tagged along. There was much carousing and bar-hopping to be had, and bartenders who were supposed to keep alcohol out of the hands of wee fourteen-year-olds not being paid enough to care if it meant decent tips. In the company of his teammates, he drank some liquids that he imagined gasoline to taste like and smoked some stuff that had him bent over coughing so hard he almost retched. The effect was the voices in his head grew so overbearingly loud that Cha-Cha couldn't separate fact from fiction, answering unspoken thoughts as if they'd been voiced aloud and being unable to detect a difference. It was a sensory overload that only grew the more time passed, and not quite remembering how he did it, Cha-Cha outed himself as a Legilimens that night.
Within the coming week, everyone and his brother seemed to have hear about the rumors of Cha-Cha's telepathic ability. Professors singled him out for cheating on tests without any evidence, suspecting him of delving into his peers' minds when he didn't know a test question. Cha-Cha was distressed, because he had never done this before, and tried to explain Professor Smirnov's advice that he'd adhered to without naming his confederate, which was largely inadequate. Other than his Quidditch team who respected him on the field and didn't interact with him much outside, students steered clear of him. All except for one. A Syrian boy named Suhail Bukhari, there on an academic scholarship much like Cha-Cha. As same-sex affection was largely disapproved of by the Russian Muggle population and occasionally this stigma carried over into the Wizarding World, the boys were not openly affectionate, but privately they told each other everything. Suhail, unlike many pureblood students, did not judge or think any less of Cha-Cha for being a Muggle-born student, and Cha-Cha did not judge him for the ponderous weight of the expectations that Suhail's family held him to. Cha-Cha tried to show Suhail the basics of Legilimency, while Suhail tried to instruct him in the ways of music (to little avail; the band instructor informed Cha-Cha time and time again that his attempts at playing trombone had no substance, no soul, and he did not take it again the forthcoming year). Nonetheless, for a small time in the world, everything was right, perfect. Until they eventually broke up when Suhail admitted attraction to a girl in his Ghoul Studies class.
Cha-Cha went home that summer. As a student of limited means, Cha-Cha did not often return home; only for summers, in fact, as transportation fees were hefty for him to foot even once a year. He arrived to find that, after five years of dormant station in Bandung, Arif had been called back to the Emirates to continue his tenure with the army, but supposedly he'd promised Endah he'd return as soon as his superiors let him. Meanwhile, she was distraught, having grown very attached to his presence in the time that they'd been lovers, and separation broke her heart. Cha-Cha was astonished to find that she'd turned to drugs, self-medicating with substances that didn't look unlike the stuff in the red envelope he'd taken on a dare so many years ago. In an effort to stop her unhealthy habits, Cha-Cha offered to do something he'd never tried before: Using his powers of Legilimency, he tried to soothe her mind and ease her melancholy, her cravings. And, much to his surprise, it worked. A little too well. Cha-Cha did this every day for the duration of his stay, unsure how to take it when Endah told him that "his magic was better than any drug," and would he please soothe her again? So long as she stayed away from the drugs, Cha-Cha would do what he had to, and he obliged her.
Until one night the week before he was due to return to Koldovstoretz, when he was finally tackling the task of his summer homework. Cha-Cha had just turned fifteen, and he was reading a required textbook for Magical Theory. When Endah strode into the room, asking what he'd like to eat for dinner, and her gaze fell upon the back cover of the book. More specifically, upon the face of the man who'd authored it, an esteemed scholar-turned-Ministry-man named Bima Soleh, a fellow Indonesian. Endah stiffened, and Cha-Cha watched in confusion as mute tears began to leak from her eyes. In a breathless whisper, she said that that was the man who'd raped her, so many years ago. As do many fatherless children, Cha-Cha had inquired repeatedly about his father in his early years, but after Endah's frequent shutdowns, he'd learned that she didn't want to discuss it and stopped pressing the topic. But this time, already familiar with the nooks of her mind, he delved inside and immediately encountered the memory of the well-dressed, drunken dandy raping her in the alleyway, slashing her across the face with a bottle. Even more so than when professors accused him of cheating on exams that he hadn't, Cha-Cha felt so horribly ashamed of his own existence. After that day, Endah stopped asking her son for telepathic healing and resumed her former drug activities.
Cha-Cha couldn't wait to return to Koldovstoretz fast enough, for the first time feeling uncomfortable and uncertain in his mother's presence. At the end of his fifth year were the OWL exams, and in order to take special preparation courses, he'd have to shell out a decent sum of money that he didn't currently have. And so he went looking for a job, finding one as a stablehand not too far from the school's location. He tended horses, administering medication, cleaning and maintaining stables, and exercising them around the pasture. And, though there were only a handful, his care sometimes extended to unicorns too, illegally domesticated. Perhaps due to Cha-Cha's Legilimency which surpasses any spoken language, the animals took a quick liking to him. Cha-Cha's employer, a little old Russian lady named Gennadiya, was demanding but impressed with the quick rapport he'd established.
Halfway through the year, just before winter break, calamity befell the stable. Gennadiya turned quite a profit from the unicorn racing business, despite its overt legality to use a rare magical creature in such a way. A race was scheduled for one cold December afternoon, and her jockey had fallen suddenly ill, unable to compete. Too old and unfit to race herself, she appraised the small, lithe groom in her employ and told Cha-Cha that she hoped his riding skills were up to par, because he'd be filling in that day. It wasn't a question, and Cha-Cha knew better than to disagree with an illegally rich white lady whose money was at stake. At the very least, it was a welcome change from shoveling mule shit that day.
Suited up in a loose-fitting jockey silk with goggles fastened tightly to his face because recognizing a racial minority off the illegal track would be all too easy, Cha-Cha rode the fastest, most lithe unicorn in the stable. A buckskin stallion with a butterscotch coat and dark-as-night mane, named Spletnik, a Russian word that means "gossipmonger." Thinking Russian an ugly language, Cha-Cha called the horse Kepo, renaming it to something he thought more palatable, as he did with most of the stable beasts. Perhaps it was because of Cha-Cha's Legilimency. Perhaps it was because he wielded a unicorn hair wand at the time. But the unicorn gazed back at him with intelligence in its button-black eyes, and a lifelong connection was forged. Horse and rider lined up at the starting gate and burst free upon the bell. The fifteen-year-old boy who barely weighed a hundred pounds soaking wet hung on for dear life. Kepo and Cha-Cha, a pair who had never raced together before, did not finish dead last. In fact, much to Cha-Cha's amazement, they came in seventh out of nine, third to last.
Apparently Gennadiya thought Cha-Cha's performance was on a comparable level to her usual jockey's, and apparently she just liked him better overall than the "unreliable waste of life who was sucking her money dry." Because, seemingly pleased with the outcome of the race, she fired the former jockey and enlisted Cha-Cha to ride in future races. Still never consulted for his opinion but finding the arrangement better than shoveling manure, Cha-Cha smiled tightly and was given permission to practice riding with Kepo on the track, which he did gratefully. He was quickly developing a soft spot for the mischievous unicorn, who was prone to munching an entire bag of apples if left unsupervised.
At the start of his sixth year, as he was practicing on the edge of the forest with Kepo, something strange happened. Something indescribable even after the fact, when it felt more like a fever dream than reality. His Legilimency gradually honing itself despite his lack of formal training, Cha-Cha had the uncanny feeling that he was being watched. Then he heard the titter of laughter, and when he looked up, he swore he saw a flash of movement as someone ducked for cover behind the treeline. Leading Kepo back to his stall, Cha-Cha took it upon himself to investigate, as witnesses to him training with a very illegally domesticated unicorn were no good. Prepared to use his Legilimency if he had to erase some memories despite having no idea quite how that worked, Cha-Cha stepped toward where he'd seen the movement and heard the laughter, swallowing his nerves.
When he called out, to his surprise, the figure revealed themselves. Herself. An almost-naked woman with pointy ears and teeth and hair that tumbled in a fiery-red curtain down to her waist, her feminine parts clad in a scanty garment of woven vines. Her alabaster skin sparkling in the evening sunlight, the Veela locked eyes with him across the field. And then she suddenly turned and began to run. Hopelessly bewitched by her otherworldly beauty, Cha-Cha pursued the Veela through the forest, finally catching up to her in a clearing where they subsequently coupled. When they'd finished and lay breathlessly intertwined, not even so much as feeling the cold ground, the Veela introduced herself as Zanna. And then they parted ways, with Zanna vanishing into the trees between words, mysteriously promising to leave a piece of herself with him. Unable to find where she'd gone and dearly exerted, Cha-Cha dressed and resolved himself to return to his bed at Koldovstoretz.
Only when he returned to school he encountered a search party consisting of his Quidditch teammates, who'd allegedly been looking for him for almost a week now. Cha-Cha blinked, astonished at the lapse of time in the Veela's forest, thinking he'd only been gone for two or three hours. Knowing that he'd fallen horribly behind in schoolwork, an even bigger concern took precedence in his mind: his boyfriend at the time, Gregorio Bulalacao. Horrified that he had somehow completely forgotten the existence of his boyfriend when he'd lain eyes on Zanna, Cha-Cha felt compelled to come clean about his actions, wondering how the hell he was going to explain himself in a way that made sense. But Gregorio spared him the effort, instantly breaking up with Cha-Cha for having vanished without a word for a whole week. Cha-Cha was slightly heartbroken, but he knew that he was culpable, and Gregorio breaking up with him was probably a cleaner resolution than he could have hoped for had he explained the details of his disappearance. Even more surprising than the sudden fallout of his relationship, Cha-Cha's encounter with Zanna had altered him in one other inexplicable, corporeal way: When he examined his reflection, he was astonished to find that his canine teeth were now sharpened to small, pixielike points, just as Zanna's had been. True to her word, she had left behind a piece of herself with him. Genetically, he is indeed a carrier of the Veela trait despite having no true "lineage" to them.
Needing to get his mind off of the breakup with Gregorio, Cha-Cha threw himself into a new club: Dueling Club, where he quickly earned a fearsome reputation. He was no member of the Black Court, famous for producing adept duelists, and he carried a unicorn hair wand, known to pack less of a powerful punch. Yet Cha-Cha had fewer compunctions about delving into others' thoughts as a student than he presently does, and he used Legilimency to deduce exactly which spells his opponents would cast, much as he'd overpowered the bigger and older boy from his youth gang. When Cha-Cha emerged undefeated, the club's sponsor professor matched him against pairs and sometimes even trios of students, and even then, half the time, he would come out on top. As such, the Black Court, feeling upstaged, developed a resentment toward him, and vowed to crush the Red Court in the upcoming Quidditch final. They did, creating a full-fledged rivalry between the Courts that, for the first time, made Cha-Cha suddenly popular, as he was accredited for starting it. Other students also feared him for his unmatched combative prowess. Amid the ensuing prank war, he found a new boyfriend: Cezar Weber, Romanian student and fellow Red Court member who shared Cha-Cha's Care of Magical Creatures class. Cezar is the only person to whom Cha-Cha has revealed that he illegally races unicorns.
But the happiness didn't last for long, as is its wont. Near the end of the year, as Cha-Cha was exercising Kepo in a field and stopped to gather and purify water from a nearby stream, Kepo was killed by a small band of poachers who sought to steal his blood for its magical properties. Startled by Kepo's death scream, Cha-Cha raised his wand and advanced on the poachers with murder in his eyes, fully prepared to take on all three adult wizards as he'd done in dueling club but to the death this time. However these wizards were far more skilled in Occlumency than Koldovstoretz students, pushing the boy out of their thoughts. Cha-Cha had only gotten off a few blocked hexes before he was hit with a Stupefy spell. When he awoke some hours later, he went to Kepo's side and knelt in the snow and cried and hugged his dead unicorn, resenting himself for leaving Kepo vulnerable.
Understandably out of a job after letting the prize jewel of Gennadiya's stable die, Cha-Cha returned home that summer feeling like a failure. By this time, his mother's fondness for mind-altering substances had increased, to the point where they didn't get her high as much as they used to and she begged her son to use his Legilimency to induce a similar rush. Unwilling to give in to her demands but thinking it a better alternative to substances, Cha-Cha obliged, "mending" her mind with his powers. But it wasn't the same as getting the drugs she was hooked on, and her body knew it. Endah suffered a collapse and almost fatal seizure one day, and praise be to Allah for Endah was Muslim, the paramedics arrived at their little hut in time to administer medical care. And sixteen-year-old Cha-Cha was left to deal with the paperwork and payment for his mother's mandated stint in rehab, fortunately having enough money after the considerable pay raise that being a sometimes victorious jockey brought him.
An announcement was made upon his return to Koldovstoretz at the start of his seventh year. For the first time in half a century, a Triwizard Tournament would be held, a competition between the magical schools of Koldovstoretz, Uagadou, and Mahoutokoro, with the latter school hosting the tournament. Honestly not ever expecting to be selected, Cha-Cha entered his name into the Goblet of Fire. And against all odds, the street urchin who'd sold drugs in a gang and peeled the shirt off his back before he was whipped was indeed selected as Koldovstoretz champion. A socially conservative school as is Russian culture generally is, there was a small backlash that a Muggle-born student had been chosen as champion, as that is what Cha-Cha had told everyone when he was as a first-year and never bothered to correct them when he found out that the man who'd raped his mother so many years ago had indeed been a wizard.
Days before his scheduled departure to Mahoutokoro with the rest of the Koldovstoretz fleet, his still-boyfriend (and longest relationship so far!) Cezar confessed to Cha-Cha that his parents were disowning him, as Cezar, a Muggle-born, refused to give up magic and revert to the Muggle world after graduation as they were pressuring him, and thus his family was cutting him off, financially and emotionally. Unable to handle the sudden abandonment, he broke down into tears and confessed his aspirations to kill himself. Distressed and at a loss for an alternative, Cha-Cha probed into Cezar's mind as he had his mother's and just... replaced the sadness. With elation that Cezar was casting off those who were no good for him. With confidence that he would be able to stand on his own two feet, now and in the future. With unconditional love for his boyfriend, because that would absorb all of Cezar's attention, right? After Cha-Cha was done, Cezar was staring at him with a glazed look in his eyes and a sloppy grin on his face, as if he were several drinks in and going back for more. Cha-Cha kissed his boyfriend goodbye before departing with the tournament committee, promising Cezar that he'd be back before his beloved knew it.
As ought to be the case with three of the most powerful wizards of the next generation, the Triwizard Tournament boiled down to heart-stopping victories and losses. The Uagadou champion, Izara Nnamani, was a fierce leopardess Animagus, and the Mahoutokoro champion, Sasaki Ken'ichi, had been born into a pureblood family who'd influenced Japan's wizarding community since the Edo Era, his family able to afford the finest tutors that money could buy. Sasaki won the first trial, and Cha-Cha, by the skin of his teeth, took the second, so that it all boiled down to the outcome of the third match which, if Izara seized it, an obligatory fourth would be held over the summer. But such a notion was unnecessary, as she fell early in the third challenge--which was to steal the the the shogun's jade necklace in a vault of replicas guarded by goblins--when Sasaki caught her with a nasty and somewhat unsportsmanlike jinx, disqualifying her from the match when she was unable to continue. Meanwhile, Cha-Cha's wand had broken in a skirmish with Acromantulas that the goblins had set as a trap, rendering him weaponless. Or seemingly so. Realizing that Legilimency was his only option--and Sasaki was a decently skilled Occlumens, at least as much as his parents' money could buy--he resorted to trickery, fooling Sasaki into believing that he'd stumbled upon the real vault, when it was really just an illusion that Cha-Cha had projected into his mind. He'd never altered another wizard's perception of reality to such an extent before, merely gleaning facts off the surface and exploiting their informational value. But Sasaki, with a considerable head start while Cha-Cha barely escaped the Acromantula trap, fell for the illusion, wasting his time advantage scouring a false vault with all fake jade necklaces. While Cha-Cha headed to the real one and detected the shogun's jade necklace among all the fakes.
Hailing from a pureblood supremacist family, Sasaki Ken'ichi refused to accept that he'd lost to a Muggle-born wizard (as this was the lore that Cha-Cha continued to propagate, despite finding out the truth of his parentage in his fourth year). He and his family tried to contest the results of the third challenge, asserting that Cha-Cha had cheated to secure victory. None of the judges from any of the schools sided with Sasaki's family, claiming that Cha-Cha had won via a perfectly viable usage of wizardry. Sasaki and his band of followers and hanger-ons were livid. The night before the Koldovstoretz and Uagadou committees were set to depart Mahoutokoro, they ambushed Cha-Cha in the Incendiary, a somewhat hidden room made entirely of lava and fire, located in the inside of a volcano where Cha-Cha disappeared to when he needed alone time. Before the Koldovstoretz victor could react, Sasaki drew his wand and cast the Cruciatus curse on Cha-Cha. Over and over again, numbing his concentration and ability for telepathic retaliation. Knowing that he would be unable to kill Cha-Cha without a thorough investigation being conducted, Sasaki knew he was limited to torture methods that would leave no physical evidence. So he settled for terrorizing the supposedly Muggle-born boy as best he knew how, and reminding him of how very insignificant and helpless he was, as was his natural place in the Wizarding World. When Sasaki momentarily lifted the curse, taunting Cha-Cha that the pain would stop if he begged, Cha-Cha spat in the eye of the runner-up to the Triwizard Tournament. And he and his friends took turns torturing Cha-Cha until sunrise, when their absences could no longer go unnoticed.
Unable and unwilling to prove the trauma that Sasaki Ken'ichi had inflicted upon him, Cha-Cha returned to Koldovstoretz for congratulations by his classmates and graduation, as this was the end of his seventh and final year of schooling. He went through the motions without truly being able to partake in the festivities, numbed and mentally absent after all that he had endured. When Cezar welcomed him home with a kiss, Cha-Cha didn't return it, feeling that so much had happened to him over the past year that he just couldn't articulate, and... he shocked even himself by breaking up with Cezar on a very impulsive whim. To say that Cezar was devastated was an understatement. As per Cha-Cha's Legilimency to push him back from the brink of suicide, Cezar loved his boyfriend unconditionally, and unconditional love cannot be broken. He implored Cha-Cha not to leave him, but the tournament victor could not span the impossible distance that the past few months had created. After returning home, Cha-Cha would find out a month later in a letter from Cezar's parents who had threatened to abandon him that their son had killed himself and left everything in his will to his former boyfriend.
With the money that he'd inherited upon Cezar's death and the research on Legilimency that Cha-Cha had thrown himself into after Sasaki had accused him of winning the tournament by cheating, Cha-Cha was determined on two fronts. One: to better understand his immense and uncanny power, and two: to help other people, as he'd always wanted ever since he stole that overpriced loaf of bread for his mother as a child. So he combined these interests by opening up his own private mental health practice in Bandung, in which he used Legilimency and basic conversational skills to act the part of a magical therapist who sought to cure patients of their pain. When basic advice-giving failed to solve the problem, Cha-Cha would use hypnosis to delve into the minds of his patients to find the source of discontent and overwhelm it with a simulated rush of dopamine, creating temporary, fake, and very strong periods of euphoria. Of course, he did this in much lower doses than he had to his mother (who'd finally been released from rehab!), just enough to motivate his patients and renew their reasons for soldiering on. It was a chronic character flaw of his, present throughout his childhood and his tenure at Koldovstoretz. Cha-Cha gave and gave so much of himself to solve other people's problems, internalizing them as his own, so much that he attracted a certain type of person: the emotionally unstable, who leaned on him to everyone's detriment. And this pattern only intensified during his time as a therapist.
Something strange started to happen. He was twenty years old, having had his private practice for two years now. In a slow but slippery slope, Chahaya gradually started to lose himself as he gave himself to treat his patients. In a way, it is very similar to the phenomenon that occurred between Zanna and him, where their encounter had imprinted itself on him in the form of altering his teeth into fangs much like hers, only this was a more psychological transaction that ensued. By probing the minds of the mentally and emotionally unstable, Chahaya took on some of these qualities himself, gradually losing his hold on reality and entertaining violent, wild thoughts that were so unlike his warm, gentle nature. It didn't help that a lot of his repeat patients also gradually started to change. Addicted to his telepathic treatments as Endah had become, they worshiped their therapist who had restored their will to live, who numbed their problems if he couldn't outright solve them. In their eyes, Chahaya was more than human. He was their savior, and they wanted to serve him in whatever way they could.
Chahaya normally refused to talk about himself during sessions with his patients--man's a professional, after all, if an underqualified one--but numerous patients expressed concern on his behalf. They wanted to repay him for all of his efforts in any way they could, even just by reciprocating the empathy he extended. His consciousness already altered by the contagion of mental illness he exposed himself to every working day, Chahaya finally relented to one, two, three of his favorite patients. He told them about the suffering that he had endured at the end of the Triwizard Tournament, how he'd never been confronted with such personal hatred as that which Sasaki Ken'ichi held for him, and it rattled him. He felt guilty for winning the tournament through borderline dishonest methods, but more than that, he felt... terribly, wordlessly angry at the extreme prejudice Sasaki Ken'ichi harbored against Muggle-borns. How the pureblood refused to be bested by one of them. Chahaya knew by now that he was technically not a Muggle-born, but he'd spent half of his life under that impression, and several of his friends and lovers had been Muggle-born. It didn't change things not to have a dog in the fight.
Hearing and understanding Chahaya's plight, his three favorite patients wanted to return the gifts he'd bestowed upon them in any way they knew how. As it turned out, they kidnapped Sasaki Ken'ichi from his manor in Yokohama, Japan, slaughtering any bodyguards who stood in their way. With him in tow, they returned to Bandung, presenting Sasaki to their master so that he might be brought to justice. With the adversary who'd tried to revoke Chahaya's victor status and then made a spectacle of torturing him on his knees, Chahaya conducted a trial, administering a small vial of Veritaserum that he kept handy in his office to ensure Sasaki's honesty. Sasaki admitted to not actually hating Muggle-borns for being Muggle-borns; rather, this hierarchy was just a convenient platform to establish his superiority. Chahaya asked his acolytes to act as a jury. They unanimously voted that Sasaki was guilty. Firmly believing that magic is a tool to cure and not inflict harm (for then he would be no better than Sasaki), Chahaya unsheathed the dagger that his stepfather Arif had bestowed upon him so long ago, the one with the inscription "never give up without a fight." He used the knife to slit Sasaki Ken'ichi's throat.
As Chahaya continued taking patients and treating their psychological wounds with Legilimency, his own mental health spiraled further, creating a vicious cycle. Venerated by his most loyal patients (many of whom were Muggle-borns or half-bloods who had endured abuse at the hands of pureblood supremacists, much like Chahaya himself), they formed a group called the Crow Court, a band of vigilantes united under the vision of eliminating corruption in the Wizarding World. Taking justice into their own hands, they targeted crooked politicians, sadists who used magic maliciously against Muggles, old-money families who paid to sweep scandals under the rug, propagators of pureblood propaganda, and any Aurors who tried to stop them. Basically, whoever stood between them and their goal of an egalitarian future. "Cult" was an ugly word for it; the Crow Court preferred to see themselves as a circle of friends committed to justice, using violence as a necessary tool to achieve their goals.
Two years later, the Crow Court's revolutionary activities peaked when one of them uncovered intelligence about a top-secret facility in Jakarta. Here, Muggle-born children who had mysteriously gone "missing" from their families were being experimented upon to divest them of magic, purifying the Wizarding population through their elimination. The result was that many of the children had turned into Obscurials, unleashing Dark magic in powerful, uncontrollable bursts. Not to mention that many of them had been taken from their homes as toddlers, so they were almost completely feral after having known nothing but abuse and neglect and fear from the Dark wizards who held them. Under Chahaya's direction, the Crow Court was gearing up for their biggest job yet: to spring the child Obscurials from the facility and kill every single faculty member involved in their captivity.
But the Obscurials were more powerful than anyone had anticipated, and because many of them were feral, Chahaya could penetrate their minds no more than he could a wild animal's. During the massive battle in the laboratory that followed, the Crow Court was losing. They'd underestimated the sheer power of the Obscureses the children possessed, which were aimed indiscriminately at both lab hands and would-be rescuers alike. Seeing that the Crow Court was being pushed to the brink, Chahaya made a necessary, awful decision: to destroy the entire facility, with the Obscurials who were beyond saving in it too. They blew up the lab, and the surviving Crows escaped into the night.
Utterly enraged by the lengths that pureblood supremacists were willing to go to secure their agenda, Chahaya sent some of his Crows to spy for him, as he often did, and then used Legilimency to experience reality through their senses. Their job was to uncover who had commissioned the design of the lab. Their findings uncovered that it had been devised by several big names in the Indonesian Ministry of Magic, one of them being Bima Soleh. The author of the textbook that had traumatized Endah several years ago, when she'd glimpsed the face of the man who had raped her so many years before. Considered an expert in the realm of Magical Theory, Bima Soleh was a pureblood wizard and member of Indonesia's Wizengamot, the highest court of wizards who judge especially contentious cases. All of Chahaya's hatred narrowed on this man, and he knew that his vision of a just world would not be complete so long as Soleh, the father who had never acknowledged him or his mother, was in it.
Deciding that this was a visit he needed to make unaccompanied, Chahaya broke into his father's lavish suburban mansion on the outskirts of Jakarta, using Legilimency to turn every bodyguard he encountered on each other. It was a tactic he frequently used on his political opponents, as the killer of one would be put on trial and locked away, eliminating them both without the need for the Imperius Curse or tracing the murder back to Chahaya. Anyway, upon confronting his father, Soleh was already alerted to a break-in, and a short duel ensued with him trying to fend off this vengeful shadow until Aurors arrived. Chahaya overpowered his father by knowing in advance what spells to expect, as he'd done often at Koldovstoretz's Dueling Club. With Soleh disarmed, Chahaya described his mother, the woman that Soleh had disfigured and taken advantage of in an alley over twenty-one years ago. If Soleh could say what her name had been, Chahaya would let him live. But unsurprisingly, Soleh had not cared for the name of the woman who was just serving his need for power, and Chahaya stabbed him through the chest with Arif's knife.
Just having slain one of the vile wizards who had founded the lab that experimented on Muggle-born children, Chahaya felt triumphant. The blood on his hands was a terrible price to pay, but he had restored justice. His mother had been avenged, and he'd won-- Drunk with power and victory as he was, Chahaya failed to notice Bima Soleh's cat that tripped him as he was going down the stairs, and the fall badly broke his tibia. Chahaya had never been half as skilled at healing physical wounds as he was psychological ones, and he was still lying on the floor when a team of Aurors arrived on the scene and arrested him, as Chahaya was in too much pain to focus his Legilimency on numerous targets at once.
At age twenty-one Chahaya would be sent to Azkaban, probably the only prison with security strong enough to hold an especially skilled wandless Legilimens. He declined his right to a trial, not intending to dispute any of the allegations made against him and not caring to be judged by the corrupt forces that he'd done everything in his power to weed out. Still afflicted with considerable psychopathy from tinkering around in his patients' unstable minds, Chahaya was prone to violence and trying to infiltrate guards' minds so that he might escape. To prevent his Legilimency, he was sedated with potent cocktails of drugs pretty much around the clock for the first two years of his stint at Azkaban so that even when he wasn't asleep he was too high to concentrate. It was an effective countermeasure.
Chahaya had weekly mandatory sessions with a psychoanalyst, and a curious phenomenon took place. After having not used Legilimency in close to two years, Chahaya was demonstrating significantly more prosocial behaviors. Rather than hissing and issuing death threats as he'd been upon arrival, he was polite and sometimes even friendly with the guards. He was no longer raving that he had to finish what he'd started with Bima Soleh's death and eliminate the rest of the Indonesian Wizengamot because they'd all been in on the experiments with the Muggle-born kids. And most of all, he stopped insisting that killing the Obscurial children was the right thing to do; while he still believed they were so far gone that it'd been mercy, he felt crushing remorse for his actions. He also regretted letting his patients worship him as a savior and using them as pawns to fulfill his radical political agenda, saying that truly, when he'd set out to be a therapist, he really did just want to help people like he'd tried to help his mother during her period of substance abuse.
Noting his significant change in behavior and mental state, the Aurors at Azkaban couldn't help overlooking the fact that Chahaya's unique powers could make a very useful tool. Experimentally, they stopped sedating him for several weeks, and when Chahaya didn't use his Legilimency as a weapon, they made a deal with him. Cooperate with the Aurors, use his powers only when given explicit permission, and help them catch some Dark wizards. And maybe, just maybe his sentence would be reduced in proportion to his usefulness. Despite his distrust of the "justice" system, Chahaya agreed to the deal, realizing that most Dark wizards weren't vigilantes fighting for a cause as he'd been, and he'd have much more capacity to do good working alongside the Aurors than brooding in prison.
Acting as an undercover operative, Chahaya would be planted within proximity of suspected Dark wizards and initiate a seemingly innocuous interaction. As he distracted them with chatter, he'd be discreetly probing suspects' minds for any indication of their guilt and, if that were the case, the location of physical evidence that could be uncovered to make a case against them. An exemplary actor and a velvety charmer, Chahaya was a natural in the role, though he wasn't allowed a wand in the fiend and often it was dangerous work (which was another reason why the Aurors wanted to use an inmate for the task, because if he got killed then big deal). One time to sell his performance and stall for time to collect evidence, he let a (rightfully) suspected killer take him home. Another time a suspect noticed Chahaya poking around in his brain and, since Chahaya didn't have a wand to defend himself, hit him with a Sectumsemptra spell that almost killed him, leaving a permanent scar across his throat. Nonetheless, over a period of two years, Chahaya--or Night Bird, his operative alias--assisted in the capture of thirty-three Dark wizards.
For his considerable services to international law enforcement and because Chahaya had provably not been in his right mind when he'd gone on his killing spree, he was released after four years in Azkaban, on the condition that he never practice therapy again and that he submit his wand for inspection every month to detect the use of Dark magic. He'd also been told that an anonymous benefactor had assisted in the arrangement of his release. Oh, and he was banned from Indonesia on account of slaughtering one of their highest-ranking wizarding officials. Unable to return home, Cha-Cha continued writing his mother and moved to New Orleans, where he spent two years waiting tables at a Creole restaurant, playing Mortal Kombat II and Tekken 5 at a retro arcade for twenty-five cents a pop, and getting lots and lots of tattoos. Sincerely remorseful for his crimes, he had voluntarily decided to relinquish the use of magic, wishing to integrate into the Muggle world. He got the high score on the pinball machine. He was very proud of that.
And then, a few weeks before his twenty-seventh birthday while he was living with two roommates in a shabby apartment, he received a wax-sealed letter by owl from Headmistress Lorena Dantas of Castelobruxo, informing him that a brand-new Occlumency & Legilimency class was being created, and Cha-Cha was her first pick for the post. Expressing his gratitude for being thought of, Cha-Cha penned back a kind yet firm letter declining the position and wishing her the best in her search for someone to fill it. A week later a lovely Brazilian woman in her mid-thirties came to the restaurant where Cha-Cha worked and specifically requested him as her server. She introduced herself as Headmistress Dantas and, after ordering the chicken parm po-boy, she informed Cha-Cha that she'd been the mysterious benefactor who'd facilitated his release from Azkaban. Apparently she'd been motivated to do so because, during Cha-Cha's last year of school spent at Mahoutokoro for the tournament, he'd helped her younger sister in the exchange program study for an Alchemy exam that she needed to pass in order to graduate, and she did due to his tutorage. "Kindness is worth its weight in gold," Dantas said in her elegant accent, promising Cha-Cha that, if he were to rethink her offer of employment, he could pick his salary. She left a hundred-percent cash tip.
The rest is history.

Sexuality: While he used to date boys in school, he is now mostly hetero, partly for social acceptance and partly because he can't picture himself married to a man. Cha-Cha now only dates if he sees a potential future with the partner, so he pursues women almost exclusively anymore.
Relationship Status: Has an "it's complicated" relationship with Castelobruxo Headmistress Lorena Dantas, whom he sees as a close friend and colleague but she wants more. They've been seeing each other for a year and a half now. Their relationship has lasted so long largely because Cha-Cha does not know how to break it off with his professional superior.
Crush(es): Yessss
Past Partners: Oh, there's been many. First there was the Veela who lured him into the forest as a student, three boyfriends during school, and countless flings ever after. Two female patients that he slept with when he worked as a therapist and one former student a few years after she graduated. Nobody's perfect, 'kay?
Turn-Ons: Making the first move, the thrill of the chase, good with words, stands up for herself, challenges him, bold and unafraid, unique tattoos, philosophical conversations, muscular without being shredded, accents, quality boots, glasses, getting inside someone's head and "solving" them, control, mischievousness, good eye contact, playing with his hair, neck kisses, picking up the tab, a nice car, clever sense of humor, emotionally mature, capable, marriage potential
Turn-Offs: Obsessed with materials, tries to control or make decisions on his behalf, confiscates his cigarettes or other substances, cliche tattoos, flaunts him like a bauble, excessive compliments, very loud or obnoxious behavior, indecisive, too easy, will not try new things, dismissive of the Muggle world, traditional or socially conservative, wears too much perfume, close-together eyes, choosing family over him every time, religious zealot, being restrained, receiving pain, habitually asking for money, tries to convince him that he's a good person
Dominant or Submissive: Dominant, but he enjoys playful resistance from his partners, so long as he wins in the end.

Appearance: Auri is an absolutely lovely young woman who carries herself with confidence and a sense of purpose as she has always been placed in a leader-like position. She has beautiful long ebony hair that has been carefully braided and she often adds little hints of jewelry to but isn't opposed to wearing it without them either. Her skin is smooth, soft, and golden in tone with a natural warmth that makes her perfect for giving hugs. Her deep coco colored eyes are shrowded by long thick eyelashes and her lush lips are often quirked into a small smirk or smile. She clearly takes good care of herself as she is very fit and has a flattering figure. Her lioness form is a mixture of soft and warm golden shades with deep golden eyes. She is a lovely and clearly very strong lioness.

Personality: Auri is an incredibly confident young woman but her confidence doesn't come without merit. She applies herself fully to everything she wants to achieve and she will not accept less than her best which often makes herself her biggest critic. She studies hard and will spend hours pouring over old tomes and scrolls to gain an absolutely thorough understanding of any topic she has an interest in or that is assigned to her. Her photographic memory certainly helps but she wouldn't be able to memorize these facts and have this knowledge if she didn't put in the work of digging through countless books to find it in the first place. Her confidence makes her incredibly ambitious when it comes to her grades and her extracurriculars but she isn't the type of person who will steamroll a partner or a fellow student who is falling behind. She is almost always happy to tutor others or help them with their school work if they don't understand something or simply work better with someone there with them. The only times she might refuse is if you have proven to her in the past that you don't take her help or her time seriously in which case she will feel disrespected and unwilling to further assist you. Auri is the furthest thing from a pushover because despite having a kind heart she also has a major understanding of self-worth and knows when and how to stand up for herself and others. Her kindness should never be seen as weakness because as willing as she is to help others she is also more than ready to jinx someone into oblivion if they push her buttons. She can be absolutely charming and easy for others to talk to as she has a very welcoming presence about her. Auri is also an amazing problem solver and loves puzzles, riddles, and mazes. She falls into leadership roles easily due to her upbringing and the status of her family among the people of her island and the African Wizarding world in general.

Imani Quansah - Mother - Alive
Dakarai Quansah - Father - Alive
Asha Quansah - Grandmother - Alive
Hometown: Mauritius Island
Backstory: Hundreds of years ago the world of muggle and magic faced each other in a war that ripped through Africa. In efforts to stop the senseless violence and save countless lives, many magical beings took it upon themselves to depart the main land and find refuge on an island off the coast in the Indian Ocean. This island was Mauritius Island, the land of magic. While muggles also made their homes upon the island this place became a sanctuary for all magical folks, no matter your status or situation. It was a place where people could come to learn, trade, and heal among wizards from all across the world. For generations, ever since the start of the sanctuary, Auri's family has acted as the islands leaders and protectors of the peace. They had grown to have quite the status among the magical families of Africa and the rest of the world. Auri knows that it is her destiny to one day take up the torch and lead those on the island just as her family has for centuries and through the best and worst of times. Currently, her grandmother Asha rules as the island's guardian and eventually the role will be passed on to her mother Imani. Once Auri is ready and has finished her training under the guardian's before her she will take her place as Guardian To-Be and one day become the island's sole guardian provided she proves herself ready and worthy of the grand task. She has cousins who eagerly vie for the role she is in line for, thus Auri works tirelessly to become the leader she knows she can be. She had thus far evaded any attempts to sabotage her but she knows she must be alert for all the years to come until she is the family head and guardian of the island's magical sanctuary. Being chosen as she has been has meant Auri was forced to grow up fast but her father has always been there to help her slow down and stay grounded. He is the one who introduced her to the ocean and all of it's beauty and he is the one who has always reminded her she doesn't always have to be the heir, some times it is okay for her to just be Auri. Even when she is away at school she is constantly kept up to date about everything happening on the island and has even accompanied her grandmother to the International Confederation of Wizards on multiple occasions. Her grandmother is a very well-respected witch and leader all across the world and Auri looks up to her a great deal. She strives to ensure her grandmother knows that her mother did not make a mistake in naming her future heir.

    Nicknames: Lis

    Gender: cis male(?) | he/him

    Birthdate: August 26th (Virgo)

    Nationality: Colombian

    School: Castelobruxo

    Rank: Champion

    Year: 6th

    House: Daulphine

Wand: Chestnut wood with unicorn tail hair, 8 ¾” | pic

Pet: Lupe, a female Turkish Van cat

    Blood Status: Pureblood

Patronus: A Mink | Minks are as resourceful and wise as they are mischievious and crafty. Those with a mink patronus often seek safety and security. Lis himself is resourceful and good at coming up with a plan, but he feels very drawn to his security bubble.

Boggart: His mother yelling at him and calling him a failure

Quidditch: Plays on a student team as a Chaser, also plays on a school football team

    Preferred Classes: herbology and potions

    Appearance:
    PXmW8dH.jpg

Lis has always been shorter and smaller than his peers and has felt the pressure of looking a certain way. He often wears platform boots and shoes in order to add a couple of inches of height, but it still leaves him feeling towered over by those around him. His look used to be very clean, with fluffy curly hair and no piercings. However, after going through a period of rebellion, he shaved his head and got his ears and tongue pierced, with intent to get more eventually.

    Wardrobe:
His outfits lean more towards the comfortable side. He spends a lot of time trying clothes on and deciding whether he likes them, because if a fabric doesn't feel good he knows he's never going to actually wear it. He doesn't wear clothes that are frumpy or plain though, as being "presentable" has always been hammered into his head. He does wear clothes now that perhaps his parents don't approve of, but being dressed to the nines is a habit he happens to not mind having. He's trying to lean towards a more "edgy" style, incorporating more black and other darker colors (especially blue and green) into his clothes.

He will often begin the day with a well-put together outfit that includes jewelry or other accessories and ends up taking them off by the end of the day due to being overstimulated. This causes him to lose a lot of his jewelry in pockets or bags.

Body Modifications: He has his ears pierced and his tongue is pierced.

Physical Disabilities: he is Hard of Hearing and uses hearing aids, which he struggles without.

    Faceclaim: Jason Genao

    J8gWfhy.jpg
    Personality:

Lis grew up without a lot of comforting from his parents, causing him to have to learn to self-soothe, especially after Nestor left their family. He doesn't really have much patience for others' emotions, unable to empathize with them easily, especially as he has difficulty sharing his own even if he needs help. This leads him to having struggles with others even though he really wants to make friends. He also finds a lot of solace in being alone, comfortable with being by himself, but realizing every so often that he actually has a deep sense of loneliness.

That being said, for much of his Castelobruxo experience, he had a large group of friends, they were just very vapid and surface level, more concerned for parties than true connection. This was great for Lis, however, because all he'd ever known was parties, and it was easier to unwind and communicate with others with a bit of Firewhiskey in your system.

Typically, he's matter-of-fact and blunt, and he will let you know if he thinks he knows more about a topic than you do. He's not afraid to call you out if you are blatantly wrong. he isn't good at filtering his thoughts, but occasionally gets held back by his anxiety. Often, you will get one of two extremes with Lis -- a very quiet one who doesn't say much at all, or one who doesn't know how to shut up and will often say too much. He tries to be a good chameleon in social situations, but if it's more than surface-level conversation, he can struggle. A lot of his silence is from not knowing the "socially acceptable" response and having to play within his own personal script.

Recently, his life has kind of turned upside down, so he has been rebellious and is trying to turn over a new leaf. Before, he was very much a stickler for the "rules," but now he's trying to make up his own personal rules instead of just being told everything he's "supposed" to do. In looking for new friends, he wants to befriend the "outsiders," and people that his old friends would have picked on.

Positive Traits: perceptive, almost photographic memory, articulate, clean, organized, disciplined, quiet, sneaky, focused, eager to take charge when necessary, generous, incorruptible, logical, resourceful, self-reliant, studious

Negative Traits: stubborn, distant, anxious, calculating, kind of bland (due to not being able to form his own personality growing up), cynical, gullible, easily irritable, sensitive, Very regretful, hyper aware of his surroundings

MBTI Type: ISTJ-T | The Logistician

    Moral Alignment: Lawful Neutral

    Temperament: Choleric

Likes: music, the moon, being outside during a peaceful night, walks by himself, gardens, reading books (usually nonfiction), experimenting with clothing, the stars, waking up early, sweaters, surrealistic paintings

Dislikes: total silence, puzzles, loud noises, large crowds of people, big, formal social gatherings, messy rooms, scratchy or fuzzy textures, styrofoam texture, overly citrus-y scents, trying new foods, metaphors, non-literal language,

Habits: biting his nails, fidgeting with basically anything around him, patting rhythms out on things, usually his legs,

Fears: owls, germs, social interactions, authority, not being real, being left behind, losing people who are close to him, thestrals, spiders, losing the rest of his hearing, losing his senses entirely, never seeing his brother again, claustrophobia, public speaking, rats

Hobbies: art (he does a lot of paintings and drawings, almost always having a sketchbook on him), playing the ukulele and piano, researching muggle history and how it intersects with wizarding history, collecting muggle coins from different locations, tending to and learning about plants

    Mental Disorders: (undiagnosed) autism, anxiety

    Background:

Lis grew up in an affluential wizarding family with very high expectations for all of their children. They were new money, so they were obsessed with appearances and the upward mobility of their children from a young age. His father, Felix, was a professional duelist turned auror, who eventually joined an auror squad in Colombia, where Lis grew up. His mother, Marisol, was a journalist and socialite who managed to make herself integral to the Colombian wizarding scene by throwing the most fantastical parties. Marisol and Felix met through an interview with him for her paper. That interview turned into dinner and a conversation that continued through the night. They enjoyed one another's company and both saw a good future with each other.

While they loved each other, each was so obsessed with their image and the steps to the next big thing for their family's social standings. Their children were even meticulously planned. The obsession with their looks inevitably extended to their children, who always had the pressure on them to be overachieving socialites.

Lis' childhood was filled with private tutors and elite social gatherings, with Marisol parading her gaggle of children around with pride. It was like they were born and she stamped them with their futures, no debate allowed. The most Lis had in common with his early childhood friends were that their rich parents all attended the same parties (most hosted by his mother). His best friend, however, was his older brother Nestor, who was two years his senior and had sworn to be his protector since hiss birth. Lis had been a sickly child with a lot of anxiety, and was very shy in many of the social settings he'd been thrust into, but Nestor had helped him through it all. He'd often speak for Lis when he couldn't and coach him on what to say, as well as calm him down when he was overwhelmed.

However, as they both got older, it became obvious that, as Lis showed more evidence of being magicals, Nestor's abilities remained dormant, never producing even a hint of accidental magic. At first, their parents assumed that Nestor had been a late bloomer, but when he didn't recieve a letter of invitation for school, they didn't know what to do with him. Marisol sent him away to live with her similarly exhiled squib brother in America, and they moved forward with their lives with Lis as their eldest son, pretending that Nestor had never existed at all.

This caused an immense amount of pressure on Lis before he was even in school. This, coupled with the fact that he'd just lost the support of his brother, caused him to be left a little lost. His mental health quickly declined as he could not be as charming and suave as his older brother, desperately trying to remember all of the lessons he was taught. His parents dismissed him, telling him that his social anxiety was nonsense and that he would catch up with his peers in no time. They also dismissed his other anxieties, which were piling up as time went on. He also suffered from depression in those early years, as he hadn't heard from Nestor since he'd moved to America, but he figured maybe his brother was ashamed or busy with his new life.

His parents were right, in a way. He began to navigate these social situations like a pro once he started school. Of course, they often very similar and fit the "script" that Nestor had given him a long time ago, and he could notice similar patterns in them. If he said something weird or awkward he would often just ignore it or smooth it over just to agonize about it for years after. His fears, too, were quickly shoved to the backburner as he tried to live up to his parents expectations.

When he began attending Castelobruxo, he immediately tried to get with the 'in' crowd in any way possible so that it wouldn't be harder later on. He knew that his parents had little birdies everywhere (they were friends with many of the teachers and parents of his peers, as they attended their parties) and that they would want him to make a name for himself. They would want him to be THE "it" boy, but he couldn't accomplish that. Often, he felt like he was flying from the seat of his pants, that he was mere seconds away from being the bullied/less popular kids. In order to fit into the in group, he'd had to participate in some negative treatment of other students on occasion, just falling into the rudeness and toxicity of the group and mirroring their behaviors. Whatever it took to be accepted for once and maybe be enough for his parents.

In his private time, however, he didn't feel like that person. He was just an artist and a lover of herbology who wanted to be left alone and didn't understand or want to have to navigate these stupid obstacles. Marisol would often hold "being a lowly shopkeep" or "being poor" over her children's heads, but Lis would honestly prefer that to this insane world his parents craved to be in. They wanted him to be an auror or a duelist like his father, but he would have much preferred to be a herbologist or work with potions. However, his professors being friends with his parents caused them to push him along the auror rout, sending him extracurricular materials on becoming one (they were promply shoved into a trunk and never looked at) and encouraging him to join the Duelling Club (which of course, he did). He quickly left anything not prescribed by his parents behind, lest he faced the same fate as Nestor.

However, the summer before his Sixth Year of school, his world turned upside down. While his parents were out of the country on a business tirp, he recieved a letter from his brother Nestor. While the family recieved letters from Nestor on occasion (for holidays, birthdays, big family milestones), it hadn't been like this before. He'd never written Lis directly (something that Lis had carried since he left, feeling rejected by his brother). This letter had a tone of almost... defeat, detailing to Lis how Nestor had been writing him for years but he wasn't sure if the letters had ever reached Lis, how this was his last attempt to reach him in case Lis actually just didn't want to talk to him, and talking about his life in America with their uncle, and how he was doing okay. Lis sensed that this wasn't the only letter he'd recieved like this before, so while his parents were gone he searched through their stuff, finding a trunk in his mother's things, full of letters over the past eight years, addressed to him from Nestor. Correspondence about Nestor's eight isolated years from his brother and how it was tough to cope.

This crushed Lis, causing him to reevaluate everything about his life and his relationship with his parents. He sat on a lot of this for the summer, processing what to do with it until his parents returned from their trip. He confronted them about it, causing a huge blowup fight right before he turned to school for his Sixth Year. He was rebellious for those last weeks in a way that his parents had never seen before, dyeing and then cutting his hair, getting piercings, leaving the house at all hours, and not attending their final party of the summer before school. Along with this, he rejected all of his old friends from school upon his return, having never really liked them anyways and wanting nothing to do with them.

Since the announcing of the Octowizard Tournament, they'd been pressuring Lis into talking to his professors about being picked for it. He never did, but evidently they'd either put in a good word or his work in Duelling Club had been enough to speak for itself, because as he returned, he was chosen to be the champion of his school. He didn't understand the choice, never seeing himself as a powerful wizard or competitor, but he didn't dare dispute it because he knew that this is what his parents wanted. But he'd show them he could compete in his own way, whether he won or not.

    Sexuality: gay

    Relationship Status: single

    Crush(es):
-- Baxter Flynn: He was a student who took part in one of Castelobruxo's foreign exchange programs from Hogwarts. He was in Lis' circle only in that the popular kids like to latch onto these foreign exchange program kids because they are new and exciting. He didn't really pursue the crush, because he was pretty sure Baxter was straight and Lis himself wasn't quite out yet.

-- Nico Sala: One of the popular kids in his circle who he violently rejected when he came back to school this year. Nico wasn't the meanest of them, just had his own ambitions. He and Lis never had anything directly, though they would occasionally flirt it was hard to tell if it was joking or half serious. He didn't break the friendship cleanly with Nico and wishes he'd handled the whole situation better, but he didn't really know how to have a total rejection of his past self.

Sanctuaryforall1 Sanctuaryforall1 Oh my goodness, it's gonna be super hard for me to root against your lovely heiress in the tournament, accepted! Just one question, Auri is a pureblood, right? It says in her Turn-Offs section that her father is a Muggle.

Whoops! Yes she is! I had played around with the concept of her mom being divorced and marrying a muggle man who Auri sees as her father but decided to go without that and forgot to change her turnoffs! My bad! Fixed it!

Full Name: amity pearl monroe
Name Meaning: amity means "friendship" or "harmony", with pearl meaning "strong" and monroe meaning "from the mouth of the river"
Nicknames: her students and friends usually call her "monroe", with only close friends calling her "a" or "ames"
Gender: female
Age: 29 - she is a very young teacher, and started teaching when she was 24 going on 25
Birthdate: august 1st - she's a leo baby

Nationality: american
School: ilvermorny
Rank: professor of astronomy and divination
Year: probably her 5th year teaching there? she's a relatively new and younger teacher
House (some schools may not be applicable): when she was a student at hogwarts she was a hufflepuff. however when she got sorted (for fun) at ilvermorny, she was discovered to be closely related to the traits of the pukwudgie and horned serpent house - though because students get to choose what house they end up in if multiple houses want them, amity chose to be one of the teachers for the pukwudgie house
Wand: willow wood with a unicorn hair, 13 3/4th and quite flexible flexibility
Pet: a brown owl she named tippy

Blood Status: half-blood
Patronus: her patronus is a dog, more specifically a bernese mountain dog
Boggart: before she came to america, her boggart would have been someone calling her a 'mudblood' and just generally treating her poorly for being a half-blood. but now that she has been in therapy and worked through some of the stuff she went through, her boggart takes the shape of either a boy or a man, both being the same person - her husband, keaton
Quidditch: despite a popular rumor, amity was actually a good quidditch student back in the day. she was a seeker, having stopped playing after graduation. when she was offered the coaching position for the house she led, she was rather quick to reject the offer, claiming that she was too old to accept the position
Preferred Classes: when she was a student, she loved herbology and astronomy, whereas she struggled with potions

Appearance: amity is 5'8. she has long, dark hair that goes a little past her midback with forehead bangs and framing pieces that surround her heart-shaped face. she has pale skin with striking blue eyes and full lips. she has freckles and a light scar on her forehead, but both are covered easily with makeup. even though she is rather short, she gives the illusion of being taller through her outfits - ranging anywhere from bright and vibrant to all black, but mostly a combination of both styles and therefore colors. she has an hourglass figure, one that is only a little muscular despite how often she is active. she is typically seen with a full face of makeup, however is just as comfortable in her skin without it and on days where she is feeling sick or simply slept in, she will teach barefaced. she wont, however, go without an abundance of jewelry - always preferring to wear a variety of necklaces and at least three rings on any given day
Wardrobe: amity is somewhere between grunge and boho/hippie. she wears a lot of dark colors blended with 'deeper' colors
example 1 examples 2 and 3 example 4 example 5 example 6 example 7 example 8
Scent: she smells of coffee beans, sweet vanilla and white flowers
Height & Weight: 5'8 and 127 pounds
Body Modifications: the dragon on the back, the plant on her chest, these on her hips, this moth large on her upper thigh, and a potion bottle on her left ribcage. while she has a desire for more tattoos, she also likes having all of her tattoos hidden while she is working - she is seen as a rather sweet teacher and despite knowing that tattoos dont make her any less qualified, she likes not having students distracted by them and maintaining her 'sweet girl' image. she does, however, have a ton of piercings. she has a nose stud, a nose hoop, multiple ear piercings, spider bites (which she doesnt wear all of the time), and an eyebrow piercing
Physical Disabilities: she has a few well hidden scars on her body, the only two being visible is one on her face, a small scar on her forehead right above and going through one of her eyebrows, the other one being on her palm, extending from her thumbpad to her wrist
Faceclaim: christina bazan

Personality: at a first glance, amity is collected and comfortable in her skin. she doesnt walk around with her head down and is known for being friendly and approachable. she likes to joke around when given the opportunity, as she would always rather see someone smile than frown. she acts very trusting, however that is far from the truth. the way she stumbles around her words and the soft tone of voice is both a lie and a truth; for she thinks herself to have a soft heart, but her timid nature is mostly an act. she is strong, but hides it behind an impression of someone who is never seen with a frown. she has done horrible things, but expertly avoids saying anything very personal about herself. no longer being in a position where she is forced to hurt others, she has mostly chosen to take the chance she's been given to be a better person, and despite the way she tells herself she's still a messed up person for 'pretending' to be good, her actions speak louder than any internal conversations she has with herself; she may find it rather amusing that she has had so many people fooled for years, however she is one of the first people to speak up when someone is being treated poorly and she often acts selflessly without expecting anything in return. she is smart, but has her moments every so often that serve as a reminder of the decade long relationship she is finally free of. at times, she can be indecisive, almost to a point that is ridiculous - being allowed to pick things for herself can prove to be intimidating. however, she is far from a people pleaser. if you rub her the wrong way or piss her off, she will make sure that any and all interactions with her only serve to confuse you or make you feel worse about yourself, her insults and backhanded compliments thinly veiled behind a bright smile and infectious laughter. she does not mind ruffling a few feathers, however due to not wanting to bring too much bad attention on herself in fear of being discovered she generally avoids bothering too many people. she is very creative, and spends a lot of her free time doing things that she finds aren't very common, such as cleaning bones and reading the flames and smoke of a fire. she takes pride on being an empath, but of course keeps most of her cards up her sleeve in fear of going to jail. amity wants to help others, especially after all the bad she was forced into doing, and as a result doesnt seem to mind too much when she is left without something she really wants. she will not tolerate bullying or hazing, and is well crafted in playing mind games to punish anyone she deems deserving of it, but just about anything else she will just assume that she should put up with as justice for the horrible she did with keaton. she is also very patient, and even faced with something disturbing will not jump to anger and harsh words; she knows that emotions can control what is said in the heat of the moment. so in the company of those she know truly do not make a habit of being mean to her, she does not hold it against them when they speak and say something they end up later apologizing for. she is typically the teacher that students feel safer to act like children in, the one that students can go to to vent about life or ask for help without judgement
Positive Traits: attentive, creative, clever, determined, focused, knowledgeable, playful, resilient, resourceful, patient, enthusiastic, understanding, warm, optimistic, perceptive
Negative Traits: vindictive, easily distracted, doesnt like routine, disorganized, emotional, sneaky, places higher value on feelings instead of logic, (too) passionate,
MBTI Type: the turbulent campaigner - enfp-t
Moral Alignment: true neutral - with a little bit of chaotic neutral maybe
Temperament: sanguine maybe

Likes: kickboxing, writing, animals, photography, learning, teaching, studying, divination, her stones, her tarot cards, astronomy, astrology, hiking, camping, nature, children, stringed instruments, plants, interior design, the holidays, cheesy dad jokes, traveling, surprising people (seriously she is almost as twisted as clara but nobody would guess it because of how wholesome amity paints herself to be), winning, a good competition, confusing people, collecting and cleaning bones
Dislikes: being lied to, being stuck in one place for too long, mean-hearted people, being underestimated, getting caught, losing, not being trusted, not being taken seriously (though secretly she also likes this a little bit too), being looked down on, ignored
Habits: messes with her jewelry a lot (though oftentimes it is to make people think she is uneasy, however her necklaces do get tangled a lot), avoiding eye contact at times, taking control of a conversation to not allow it to focus on her for too long
Fears: amity is scared of being caught for the things she did as a student at hogwarts and during her time as a young adult working alongside the bad aurors. she has no desire to see keaton again, which is really the underlying fear - as much as she thought she loved him, she also knows that he is very likely to kill her if he sees her again. she made no effort to help him once he'd been taken despite her abilities to do so
Hobbies: amity doesn't like to have too much time to think to herself, so she keeps herself quite busy. in her downtime she spends as much time as she can outside, whether that be camping, hiking, or studying the stars - she also likes to bake, help take care of the animals at ilvermorny, write and journal, make her own jewelry, and box or kickbox when she has the energy
Mental Disorders: ptsd and depression

Family: mother autumn and father william
Hometown: yorkshire, london
Backstory: tw for abuse/dv and heavy themes of violence. nothing is explicit until the end of her backstory
amity grew up minutes away from upper flagley to two parents, mother autumn and father william. she wasn't very close with either of her parents and saw them more as roommates due to how little they all interacted - but she did love them to an extent. william was very busy working as a muggle lawyer whereas autumn was an auror and traveled often because of her job. this left amity alone quite often well before she was even a hogwarts student. she had a few close friends but otherwise learned to be comfortable being alone. amity found that she didn't like to get too close with anyone because she possessed abilities similar to that of an empath. when she would describe it to teachers they would simply say that she was daydreaming or lying, so the fact that she could tell when people were lying or change their emotions at will went largely undetected. there was one teacher who eventually put together what it was amity was experiencing, and until he passed of old age he helped teach amity in private how to navigate her abilities. he mostly focused on drowning out the other noises and emotions of people, as well as guarding her mind from people similar to her. as a result, from a young age she had always been good at occlumency, and even found that on a few exceptionally rare and crazy circumstances, she could lie to whoever was reading her mind. she found it easy to just hold down and hide some thoughts or feelings, but lying about them to deceive the viewer was rather difficult. unfortunately that and quieting the static she often heard or saw from others was all she would learn until the professor died her fourth year at hogwarts.
it was around then that she became friends with a boy named keaton jones - someone who would eventually be her husband. they were fast friends, though at the time amity did not know that he was manipulating her; he had found out her abilities and planned to use them for himself. after gaining her trust and having her confide in him, thus began the abuse and blackmail that would continue until she was twenty three. amity had been told that she shouldn't be ashamed of how her abilities gave her a unique insight to those around her, but keaton convinced her it was a terrible thing. with that, he convinced her that it would be devastating if news got out to her peers, and struck a deal with her; he wouldn't tell anyone about her abilities and that she was continuing to train if he got to use her abilities as well. from then on, she continued her training with a different teacher to learn how to replace and project emotions, and kept on honing her skills with psychometry and psychic navigation. meanwhile, keaton began abusing her powers for his own gain; having her help him manipulate peers to get whatever it was he wanted. with her having taken to projection and augmentation quickly, it was rather easy to help him. learning how to use legilimency was the most difficult and something she technically 'doesnt' do, however as an adult she would take to 'doing' it without speaking or using a wand. she was more comfortable reading and seeing emotions, as well as altering them or removing them entirely, instead taking the pain on as her own - which is what she tried to do for a long time, not wanting to truly help keaton but seeing no other choice.
after they graduated from hogwarts, amity thought she would be free of the abuse she went through as keaton's girlfriend and unwilling companion in the he used her to hurt others - but through a lot of manipulation on his part and her hope that he would change, they moved in together and both got jobs - amity made a career out of using things such as osteomancy and pyromancy to help predict the future (only using her abilities to help her customers a little bit), as well as selling handmade items she made such as jewelry or home decor. meanwhile, keaton became an auror like autumn. they got a cottage together in godric's hollow, where the town was small and the homes were fairly cheap due to rumors of a haunted graveyard and little to do in the area. unfortunately, the abuse amity went through only got worse outside the confines of a school surrounded with teachers - a very confusing time where keaton would hit her or blackmail her but turn around and say that he loved her and was only doing everything to protect her. amity was not allowed to continue any other friendships she'd once had, and he often made fun of her passion for divination. she had a brief moment of joy when they got engaged and were quickly married three months later, only for things to start looking bleak again. keaton would go through periods where she thought he would try to change, only for the situation to go back to how it always had been. things did not get better when he became an auror either; he worked longer hours and was quickly finding out that he was not good at his job. in an attempt to save his reputation, he decided to drag amity into what he was doing - there was a part of the ministry who was dirty and wanted to purify the wizarding world. despite amity being a half blood herself, keaton made easy work of forcing her to help and keep up the lie that she herself was a pureblood; he would throw her in azkaban if she didn't. not wanting to die and not wanting to give up hope on the only person she'd ever loved or been with romantically, she begrudgingly helped. thankfully, at this time her mother had retired, though it wouldn't be for a long time that amity learned that autumn quit her job to avoid unknowingly helping the dirty workers.
at first she was used just to make contact with suspected wizards and muggles, using her abilities to seemingly befriend certain targets that the ministry deemed important. she would go to parties or interact with them at grocery stores, using her more emotionally based magic to sense how they would react when she brought up certain topics. depending on how that went, sometimes she would be forced to interact with them multiple times to gain information. however, amity downplaying her abilities quickly backfired on her, as a few weeks into this arrangement she accidentally revealed to her husband that she was far stronger than she had told him of. during their last few years at hogwarts amity would only show minimal improvement to keep up the illusion of still learning, when really she was far more advanced than keaton knew. during an episode where he was beating her, she accidentally used her magic to replace his rage with her exhaustion, which resulted in him basically falling asleep mid-hit. when she had tried to erase his memory of the incident, he had caught her by surprise by waking up and thus, sensed her there. from then on, she was to assist with him when he captured and tortured people. it became her job to comb through the victims' memories to see if they were lying or not, as well as alter any memories to make them forget who had taken them or where they had been taken to. sometimes to find victims they would use amity's ability to see emotional hues to track down when and where people may have gone. there was one other person there who was good enough at legilimency, however because they couldnt adjust memories and didn't have the same skillset as amity, they mostly used that other party to just verify that she wasn't secretly helping her patients. regardless, she still tried to whenever she could, and got away with taking on their emotional pain and altering their memories to protect them a lot more than she really should have gotten away with. she was not very good at legilimency, but she really only needed it to get through enough layers of the human mind to get to memories - from there, she could use her more empath based abilities to do whatever she needed to do. she could not read minds, and never had been able to despite keaton's belief that she had always been able to. she could only do it long enough to get to memories, and even a lot of that was more around her talents with seeing real emotions versus fake ones and seeing the hues around memories that told if they were older or newer, as well as how the person generally felt about it and during it. manipulating the memories was also just emotional work; if you take away the core feelings of a memory, there isn't much to remember if you feel indifferent about it.
anways, this went on for three years before amity was finally able to escape. someone had hurt keaton while he was out on the job. he nearly died from it and was brought in and found guilty for the crimes he commit. knowing that she would likely be turned in by her husband, amity fled. she didnt so much as give a goodbye to her family, their last conversation being that amity was simply grateful keaton had been brought to azkaban for his crimes. though she technically isnt wanted for anything in europe, besides maybe to testify against her husband and be brought in for questioning about his claims, she sure wasn't going to stick around to find out. in three days she'd cleared out her cottage and had things shipped to a few different addresses in north america. from there, she took a flight and after a week of driving around in a uhaul to different states to get all of her belongings, she started anew in missouri, landing herself a job as a professor and trying to erase the horrible things she helped to do innocent people, while grieving the person she could have been if she hadn't fallen in love with a monster. she has gone to great lengths to hide her past, even faking a southern country accent to mask her british accent and always has some sort of defense up for her mind should anyone attempt to go prying before she is aware of it. she covers her tracks well and has yet to be seriously questioned of her previous whereabouts

Sexuality: pansexual
Relationship Status: painfully single
Crush(es): nobody at the moment. she is not looking for any type of relationship
Past Partners: the only person she ever dated was keaton jones, a boy she began dating in her third or fourth year at hogwarts and is technically still married to
Turn-Ons: the bar is in hell for her; she doesnt want to flinch in the company of whoever she is with. that's literally it, just dont scare her. maybe being a little protective too, but she seriously does not have any specific turn ons. she'd be amazed just that anyone remembered her birthday and things like that
Turn-Offs: she'd joke and say that she has 'so many' but literally all of them are classical traits of abusers anyways. she doesnt like rude people, though, nor does she appreciate those who have bad hygiene and aren't passionate or don't care about anything going on in their life
Dominant or Submissive: more of a switch, but leaning towards submissive

Personality: lan is a very friendly but honest person. he is incredibly tenacious, but stubborn to a fault. he is driven, which means his focus can be narrow to the point he ignores things he shouldnt. hes independent, which means he is capable of isolating himself and shutting people out at times. he has a huge sense of responsibility, which as a result can make him borderline controlling when he's under stress because he assumes he has to make decisions for other people. lan is protective of his friends and family, which is usually a good thing, but he can utilize that in a way that isnt good or very healthy. and though he is, generally speaking, a soft person who doesnt wish to bring harm on anyone, sometimes he has a temper and speaks with his hands. hes also more optimistic than pessimistic, because he experiences both and is able to view things at their best and worst, but tries to focus on the good rather than the bad. he still believes in hope and faith, that everything will be okay in the end. lan is also communicative, almost to an awkward amount. he's an innocent fifteen year old and having no desire to get in trouble, he often over-explains himself to others in a way that can be either adorable or a little strange. he also doesn't like to do things just because his peers thinks it cool or fun. he can have his mind changed but he will never give into doing something just because a bunch of people are telling him to do it. additionally, he will never try to force someone to do something they don't want to either. respecting women is a huge part of how he was raised and he wouldn't dream of disappointing the girls in his life. with this, he is also respectful in general. of friends, family, peers, and authority especially. he's not one to break the rules very often and very rarely speaks back to his teachers. lan is also creative - though he is smart, a lot of his brains comes from the way that he can take a single concept and turn it into so many different things. he thinks outside of the box and does so much with what he knows, rather than not questioning his knowledge or the world around him. he is very generous too. he's always looking out for the little guy despite sort of being one himself and is not one to join in on hating someone just because he thinks he knows someones story
Positive Traits: passionate, intelligent, selfless, eager, sociable, rebellious, artistic, personable, loyal, kind, calm, innovative, responsible
Negative Traits: reluctant to accept help, principled, not well spoken, stubborn, emotional, a bit of a people pleaser, awkward

Temperament: sanguine

Likes: music, sketching, drawing, painting, sculpting, making friends, parties,
Dislikes: being pitied, not having any control, having too much responsibility,
Habits: he has to be constantly doing something with his body. oftentimes he will twirl his wand in his hand or bounce his leg repeatedly under the desk or table he is sitting at. he is also notorious for clicking pens and drumming his fingers on smooth surfaces, oftentimes to the beat of whatever song is currently stuck in his head
Fears: lan struggles with claustrophobia; he despises tight spaces and really struggles with feeling large in a small space as well as ophidiophobia (snakes)
Hobbies: lan loves to build and create. he will sculpt, sketch, draw, and do anything regarding wood if he can get his hands on the required tools to do so. he also likes to play sports, though he does love his soccer as much as he enjoys quidditch
Mental Disorders: lan struggles with anxiety, and is helped via medicine and therapy

Family: lan's parents, as well as his two older brothers, younger brother, and younger sister
Hometown: yorkshire, london
Backstory: lan was born in london to his mother and father as a middle child. while they weren't poor, the certainly didn't have as much money as the rest of his peers. for starters, not a lot of other people had as many siblings as he had, but also there were other families with better paying jobs. even so, lan and his family never went without what they needed. they still got to go out and do things, but it just meant that their holidays were a little smaller, everyone had to order water at restaurants, and he got a lot of hand-me-down clothes. his family was always really close, and he looked up to his older siblings a lot. being the middle child had its ups and downs, but it really helped that he came from a loving family with fantastic siblings and a sense of unity between everyone. he didn't have a lot of friends at school, but the few he had were phenomenal and he's been friends with the same two or three people for years. there is actually not a lot to share in terms of where he comes from - he has not suffered any huge losses, nor does he have any bad relationships or experiences in general. aside from bullying at school, lan is an otherwise normal kid. he spends a lot of time playing video games, doing art, and playing sports (he loves his quidditch), but other than that he's your typical fifteen year old. when he goes to the muggle world for breaks he indulges in his art, gaming and soccer, and back in the wizarding world he pours himself into his studies and quidditch

Sexuality: demisexual
Relationship Status: single
Crush(es): na
Past Partners: lan dated a boy for nearly three years, but they broke up because he cheated on lanre with someone cooler. it really hurt, and because he doesnt develop crushes easily anyways, he just hasn't found anyone since that he likes that way
Turn-Ons: flirty, funny, warm, not ashamed of him, artsy (whether that be painting, music, writing, anything really) or passionate about something, maybe likes sports too/athletic, kind, friendly
Turn-Offs: rude, has shame around dating him, doesnt like to do anything, cant hold a conversation, doesnt like to include him in their life, too secretive, cant or wont talk to him
Dominant or Submissive: he tends to be more submissive in general, which would likely transfer to a relationship too

RAPHAEL

Raph
Bisexual
Male
Champion
"Raph"
AT A GLANCE
Full Name: Raphael Antoine Badeaux
Name Meaning: His first name means "God has healed". His middle name comes from an unknown origin, but is often mistaken for various types of flowers. His last name means "stupid" or "gullible"
Age: 17
Birthdate: July 7th

Nationality: French-American
School: Beauxbatons
Year: 7th, assuming that that is the last year students are still enrolled in school
House: Bellefeuille
Wand: Ash wood with a dragon heart string core
Pet: Raphael has an orange cat named Sunshine that he is deeply attached to

Blood Status: Half-blood
Patronus: Phoenix
Boggart: The boggart would turn into his dead mother or various types of monsters that are shown to be killing either of his parents - the important key being that he isn't scared of the monster itself, just what it could have done to his family
Quidditch: Beater, and a really aggressive one at that. He has nearly gotten kicked off the team for accidentally breaking equipment and playing too rough against classmates
Preferred Classes: Raphael doesn't enjoy many of his classes, but if he had to pick one it would have to be Transfiguration. He doesn't do well in most of his classes, he has good enough grades to not be held back and asked to retake classes

Appearance: Raphael has curly blonde hair that is longer at the top but cut much shorter at the sides. He has an angular face with a strong jawline and high cheekbones. He has a larger nose with bottom heavy lips and green eyes. He has tan skin and is rather muscular.
Wardrobe: He does not know how to dress himself to save his life. He pretty much picks his outfits by putting on whatever his hand touches first. In earlier years he would simply recycle outfits until they smelled bad or went missing, but now he has more variety. He typically wears sporty things but styled more laid back. Never anything expensive enough that it would be a big loss if he stained or ripped it
Scent: Sandalwood or cedarwood and pine
Height & Weight: 5 foot 8 and 185 pounds
Body Modifications: Raphael has one tattoo on his chest of a large flame. The work is done in red, orange and black
Physical Disabilities: Raphael does not have any physical disabilities, but many would claim that there is something fundamentally wrong with his head for how slow he can be
Faceclaim: Aleksander Sloth
THE DEEPER STUFF

Personality: You know that kid in class who talks loud, is super friendly but you have no idea how he's passing any of his classes or how he's still alive and in one piece? That's Raphael. He's a walking and talking tornado of a person. He's super chaotic and a huge ball of energy. The dude literally works out not because he wants to be bulky, but because he has so much energy he doesn't know what to do with himself. Raph is also the person who will accidentally break just about anything he touches; he's had to replace a lot of broken things at school. He also is a dumpster truck when it comes to eating, he eats a lot and he eats often. He practically blinks and has downed three plates. He's a little anti-social because he doesn't make friends easily, but once he has them he's super outgoing with them and will do anything to make them laugh. Really that extends to everyone because he doesn't like to see people hurt. He is super quick to jump into fights too, both because he likes fighting and he doesn't like when things are unfair. He doesn't tolerate bullying, and despite truly being an airhead to a degree he will sometimes play stupid to get the harassment off of someone he knows doesn't enjoy it. He takes a hands on approach to just about anything, and will not think before he speaks or acts. He entirely reacts on impulse which gets him in trouble all the time. Raphael is a well meaning person, who is very rough and boyish in nature but has a heart of gold. He teases, often, and likes to joke around even in situations where he shouldn't. He really struggles with staying still and going long periods of being serious, however he can be emotional. He just doesn't feel the need to talk about it and prefers to let go of any ill grudges he has against others. Once in a while he will show his petty side, but if you are a real friend to him he would rather let bygones be bygones. He is determined and dedicated, and doesn't take losing well. Raphael is also one of the most stubborn people you will meet, as well as competitive. He is very rarely able to swallow his pride and will do just about anything ridiculous to prove himself; this is why he gets into so many fights. It will be a miracle if he isn't disqualified before the first challenge. Raphael is also self assured, which is a weird pairing when he also feels the need to show everyone how good he is at something. More to be revealed in the roleplay
Positive Traits: Forgiving, courageous, strong, dedicated, carefree, loyal, protective, compassionate, mischievous, goofy,
Negative Traits: Dense, stubborn, blunt, messy, too hopeful, reckless, straightforward track mind, destructive, competitive, hot-headed
MBTI Type: ESFP The Entertainer
Moral Alignment: Chaotic good, to the extreme on that "chaotic" part
Temperament: Choleric

Family: Charlette: mother, deceased, muggle
Casimir: father, unknown, wizard
Hometown: Sainte-Marie
Backstory: Raphael grew up closely with his muggle mother and wizard father. Growing up in the heart of southern France, it wasn't uncommon for him to spend his days playing on the beach with his parents and daycare friends before returning home to spend more time in the sun on their property, never straying far from either of his caretakers. Raphael only remembers a few memories with both parents present, however he looks on them fondly on the very rare and unusual times that he actually sits and thinks about it. His first vivid memory is finding out that his mother died - Raphael was only five when she passed, and all that was said about it was that a monster had killed her. He took his father for his word and from there, they had to pack up and move from their nice home not a block from the beach to a crappy and barely functioning one bedroom apartment much farther than where they had lived before - Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges. Raph's dad said that the town was closer to where he would be going to school and that the plan was for them to move there anyways, but Raphael didn't like change and was unhappy with the change. Life continued otherwise normally, with many changes. For one, Raphael went from being higher middle class to barely getting by. Even after selling many of their nice things and downgrading to a considerably smaller place, they were barely getting by on one income. Another thing was that they had lived in the muggle world, and suddenly Raphael was living somewhere where he used pencils and paper to do his homework, but now the his babysitters expected him to use quill and ink. It was all very confusing for little Raph. And then, when he was nine, things got weirder. Raphael found that things were happening he couldn't explain. As it turns out, he was something called a "wizard", but was showing signs of magic far earlier than his father had expected him to. Raphael was already a difficult child to care for because he was all over the place energy-wise and he could not go to any wizarding daycares because until that point it had not been confirmed whether he would be a muggle or halfblood, but not on top of everything else he was having magical outbursts and the hours that Raph was needed to be watched were becoming more difficult to meet, with his father's work getting busier. Eventually, Casimir was able to find a program that would help teach Raphael how to help prevent his outbursts. This went on for a little bit and proved to be helpful up until the point that Raphael was to start going to Beauxbatons. But four months before school was supposed to start, his father left for work and never came back. Raphael tried getting ahold of him by his cat Sunshine, but all mail ended up coming back to him. His babysitter was not able to get ahold of him either, and eventually Raphael became homeless. Being homeless in the wizarding world proved to be intimidating, and being a scared ten year old boy, he accidentally wandered out into the muggle world. As a result, he ended up living on the streets stealing and hiding from others until miraculously, someone who worked at Beauxbatons found him. He ended up going to school a month and a half late, needing to be checked at a hospital to get nourished again. From there, he tried to be a normal student, but being in a classroom setting proved to be hard. He couldn't retain much information and he found it hard to sit still in class. Even when he studied really hard, he wouldn't do better on tests, so he gave up entirely. He just barely passes his classes to get by. He does, however, thrive when the tests are not on parchment, and as a result some of his teachers have adapted their tests for Raphael to show what he really does or does not understand by demonstration. With that technique, his grades improve immensely and show that he is capable of being booksmart. With not having a family, he largely just stays at school during any holiday breaks and during the summer is placed at random in foster homes. He's never had the same family twice and most of them have been nice enough. Any mean placements he had he just shrugs off, not really voicing anything concerning but also not caring enough to call it out seeing as he will likely not see any of them again. More to be revealed in the roleplay

- Classroom settings
- Feeling dumb
- Reading
- Sad music
- Cooking
- Feeling out of place
- The holidays (because he always spends them alone)
Habits: Raphael has to always be doing something with his hands or entire body, but to an extreme and ridiculous degree. Some days doodling in class while he pays attention is enough, but most days he's asking to be in the back where he can pace back and forth instead of sitting down at his desk. He always has some sort of snack on him, and most days he's feral when it comes to protecting it and not sharing. He also tends to toss his wand up in the air and catch it, or twirling it around in a way that always makes others uneasy that he will break it. Somehow, he never has even though he's broken just about all of his other belongings
Fears: While Raphael would say that he isn't scared of anything, deep down he's really uncomfortable with the idea that his father abandoned him simply because he no longer loved his family
Hobbies: Working out and Quidditch. That's literally it. Bro doesn't know how to relax unless he's physically drained and he keeps busy to prevent his mind from wandering
Mental Disorders: Raphael would not say that he struggles with depression, he would say it struggles with him. He jokes often about how depression will try to kill him but that he's just too stubborn to go willingly or quietly. He also has ADHD
DATING LIFE

Relationship Status: Raph is single! He's never been in love or had a crush before. He's not so immature as to think that girls have cooties but he just wouldn't know what love was if it smacked him in the face. I want to plot something with him! Like a one sided relationship where he gets his heart broken or he falls hopelessly in love with someone he least expects
Crush(es): None
Past Partners: Nada
Turn-Ons:
- Shorter than him
- Good hygiene
- Can hold their own but will still let him baby them
- Good heart
- Physically fit or will work out with him
- Doesn't mind that he can be a little clingy
- Brave
- People that scare him a little bit
- The ability to be silly with him
Turn-Offs:
- Mean hearted
- Smells bad
- Doesn't like affection
- Doesn't have any plans in life
- Refuses to be open with him
- Prejudice tendencies or beliefs
- Can't deal with how random he is
Dominant or Submissive: Dominant. He's not good at the mushy gushy stuff but he doesn't want to be the baby in the relationship either
FOR FUN
His playlist:
-
Angry Too by Lola Blanc
- My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark by Fall Out Boy
- Take It Out On Me by OneRepublic
- Heathens by Twenty One Pilots
- I'm Just A Kid by Simple Plan

Headcanons:
- Raph has never been drunk or high before. The first time he gets drunk he tries to bench press EVERYONE. And he's the kid who gets high and can't stop laughing at everything or gets the zoomies then crashes for twelve hours afterwards
- I know the point of the roleplay is for characters to try and win, but I want to see Raph fall flat on his face. Where he completely fumbles the ball during one of the first competitions and ends up sticking around and discovering he's a good teacher or support to one of the other champions. Or like there is a redemption arc for him where the last few competitors have to go against one of the losers for something and Raph comes back as a force to be reckoned with. Idk how characters will be chosen to win but my character can be a sacrifice or one of the first to be eliminated
- He is easily bribed with food
- Raphael can fall asleep anywhere in any position. He is like a baby or puppy who wants to stay awake when in the company of others because he doesn't want to miss out on anything
- He is one of those jocks who gets way into the sport they play. He made Quidditch his whole personality and its the only thing in school he is good at. He would have failed out of school if it weren't for the rule that students have to maintain a certain grade level to stay on the team
- He plays rough too
- He is rough in general. Even when he tries to be gentle he ends up breaking something or is clumsy. He is a big dude but he does his best

Plot candies: A few thoughts I had when I was snooping while working on Ralphael's sheet, will only do after talking them over with the others
- Naomi and Raph should be friends! He probably makes it a point to say hi to her every time he sees her and ask about whatever art project she's working on that day. He probably offers to pose for her and does the most out of pocket things for her to paint or draw or brings her random things he found that he thought she would like. "Look I found this rock! It's shaped real silly, I thought you could do something with it!"
- Cosmo and Raph are probably two best friends who everyone think is secretly a couple, but it's just the world's most intense bromance ever seen. They work out together, pig out together, and have to be separated because they are way too loud together
- I think it would be funny if Chahaya tried to read Raph's mind once and there's like... nothing there. It's the middle of a test or a survey that Chahaya is observing and he sees Raph just selecting things at random so he takes a peek and its like *A tumbleweed rolling very slowly across the desert of Raph's mind*
- I'm foaming at the mouth at Liz's form. I see him and Raph getting along. Raph is the kind who would accidentally trauma dump the most random and horrifying things one has ever heard and then run off chasing a butterfly or something. They bond over relationships with their family that could have been more and how stressful social situations can be
- My money is on Raph having a crush on Gavriel or Clara. If it's Gavy and she likes him back, its a longer lasting relationship. And if its Clara she cannot stand him and him repeatedly trying to win her over turns from annoying to really funny. I want to hear thoughts on these ideas because he is good for having real feelings and learning how to love but he is also good for just being the lovesick idiot who pines and pines after the girl that doesn't want him back
- The first time he sees Vasu speaking Parselmouth, Raph is astonished. He didn't know speaking to animals was a thing some wizards could do (his father never clued him in on that part and it just never came up) and afterwards he always asks "Do you know what this *anything that is not a snake* is saying? Can you translate my cat's meows for me? Can you tell her I love her?"

Other: I have not done a group roleplay in YEARS but I couldn't resist after seeing all the creative people everyone crafted. I'm looking forward to getting back into the scene of doing things with multiple people as opposed to the one on one stories I find myself doing more regularly

captaindanger captaindanger Exceptional form! Oh my goodness, Raphael looks like such a unique character that everyone is gonna have a blast with! I'm so happy you came outta your comfort zone to do a group RP with us, because your boi is an absolute feral darling. Welcome to our thread. 🤎 also please forgive the late response I got lit like a christmas tree at dnd last night ahahaha

Also as for your plot candies (ingenious by the way), Chahaya would be very concerned on Raphael's behalf, first when he starts aggressively pacing at the back of the classroom and then later on when he's making paper planes with an exam, and would prolly approach Raph like, "Are you okay? Is there anything you want to talk about? You're disrupting the class and my ability to teach, so I'd love to help you work through whatever is bothering you for everyone's betterment!" Super cheerily and not at all outwardly mean the way he says it even though it's low-key an ultimatum for Raphael to get his act together or he'll be very nicely asked to leave subsequent classes. Maybe Chahaya would bribe him with food to sit politely in class and participate.

In response to Raphael's questions, Vasu would adopt a very condescending smile, heft a legitimate chalice full of absinthe, thrust it at Raphael, and be like, "Here. Drink this. It's delicious, and with enough of it, you'll be able to talk to snakes too." Getting other people (and himself) drunk is Vasu's specialty. Or he will try to screw with Raphael and tell him the most absurd and mean things that other animals are saying about him. "See that cat? She wants to claw your eyes out right now. Oh, no. Don't tell me that's your cat." Or, "That dog is almost thirty years old, and he's spent most of his long life mourning the steady decline in quality of American gameshows since the 1970s. Truly heartbreaking."

Thank you! pearjuice and I know each other irl and she had told me about this roleplay while we were talking about our newest ocs. I didn't know it was exactly this one until I went to fill out the form and saw her there lol

I can't see Raph taking to that well but then again I challenged myself by making a mess of a character so we will see haha. I normally play charismatic types and he doesn't fall into that category whatsoever. He is all muscle and good intentions but awful delivery. && He tries to be quiet but he can't for the life of him. He is easily distracted and can't focus if he is tied to one spot and can't do anything with his hands. He might legit forget that his paper airplane is his homework because he is that desperate for something to do other than sitting quietly. Everything you said about Vasu is funny. Raph takes all of it as truth right away. He starts crying thinking his cat hates him but the drinking goes two ways: either he hates the taste of alcohol but Vasu challenged him to a drink off which results in Raph getting plastered or he gets plastered because of his own idiocy. He is gullible because of the amount of trust he places in complete strangers. He wouldn't think to be wary of Vasu even if they are competitors

Hello hello hello - is the current character list up to date? Trying to scope out potential openings and character relationships! Also please take this as my formal place holder for a Beauxbatons girl, an Ilvermorny girl, and POSSIBLY a durmstrang boy.

WanderLust. WanderLust. So glad to see you over here, my love! Yes, the current roster is up to date. We have a Uagadou Champion still open, but that's the only one. Are you sure you don't want this position? In the meantime, I'll happily reserve the other stuff for you!

Aviator Aviator My knowledge of African culture and Uagadou is soooooo limited, but I can do some research and try to make a character who possibly recently moved to the region if you're trying to fill the spot?

Full Name: Kiara Ophelia Sinclaire
Name Meaning: "Kiara" meaning "light", "Ophelia" translating loosely to help or aid, Sinclaire meaning "holy"
Nicknames: Her older brothers sometimes call her "Ki'" but she detests this and will throw a punch if you try it
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Birthdate: September 5

Nationality: French Romanian
School: Beauxbatons
Rank: Secondary
Year: 7th
House (some schools may not be applicable): Ombrelune
Wand: Aspen wood with dragon heartstring core, 11 inches, sturdy
Pet: Her family used to breed but now simply rescues and protects multiple dragons whom Kiara considers "pets" - perhaps most notably...
Several Romanian longhorns all named after the lost boys in her favorite childhood book "Peter Pan", a Hebridean black ("Ludvig"), two Antipodean Opaleyes ("Valkan" and "Lady"), a Ukrainian Ironbelly ("Maurice") and Kiara's favorite, a young Norwegian ridgeback who is particularly bonded with the young witch, "Nemo". (Pictured below) Nemo is a dusty grey colored dragon who has yet to grow into his massive wings. He is still in the very early stages of learning how to fly and sucks at it though this has yet to dissuade Kiara from attempting to ride him.
tumblr_plrxfqYBFF1wv0ws2o4_250.gif

Kiara also has a pet bowtruckle, (a gift from her brother, Luca) whom she named "Twiglet" (Twig or Twix for short)

Blood Status: Pureblood
Patronus: Norwegian Ridgeback Dragon - Kiara's patronus charm is exceptionally strong, mostly because she has so many beautiful and powerful memories to pull from when casting it
Boggart: Kiara has only ever confronted a boggart once and it did not end well. She ended up staring at what, upon first glance, appeared to be her own reflection. Upon further inspection she realized that while the boggart looked like her, it was an unsettlingly perfect version of herself that she described as "distinctly inhuman and f***ing creepy" when asked about it later.
Quidditch: She doesn't play it but she will aggressively cheer for her favorite teams

Appearance: Kiara has very delicate, yet defined facial features. Genetics gifted her with high cheekbones, a sharp jawline, and a full lower lip give her a very elegant and refined look when you first look at her, however Kiara would define herself as anything but elegant. When she's not furrowing her brows in annoyance, she's liking glaring in your direction or rolling her eyes. Her Caribbean blue eyes stand out amongst her other features, and are typically the first thing people notice about her, framed by thick lashes and notoriously cocked eyebrows. Spending a majority of her time outside with the dragons has tanned her skin and speckled a light dusting of freckles across her small, sloped nose. Her face is framed by long, brown hair that falls past her shoulders, to the middle of her back, and is typically a mess that she will occasionally pull back into a braid. She is on the slimmer side but has a healthy distribution of muscle where she needs it.
Wardrobe:
Outfit 1
Outfit 2
Outfit 3
Outfit 4
Scent: Peaches and cream (her favorite snack) with a hint of vanilla and something that can only be described as a "summer breeze"
Height & Weight: 5'6" and 125 pounds
Body Modifications: N/A though she desperately wants to get a tattoo of a dragon on her back.
Physical Disabilities: Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and Tachyarrhythmias - Kiara sometimes has fainting spells brought on by over exertion and an irregular heartbeat causing under oxygenation of her blood, though most of the time the fainting occurs for absolutely no reason. Typically, her only warning that she is about to faint are pin pricks of white in her vision and a ringing in her ears.
Faceclaim: Barbara (Palvin) Sprouse

Personality:
Kiara is an exceptionally self-sufficient girl. She is independent, competitive and doesn't like to feel weak or lesser than, which is why she tries her hardest to keep her fainting spells a secret. Incredibly confident, she is very outgoing and never fails to speak her mind. Much like the dragons she grew up with, she can be quick to anger, though she's typically better at reigning it in. She doesn't let herself get attached to anyone too easily, although she does have many friends and is typically well liked amongst her classmates. She values honesty and bravery, and is perhaps a bit too reckless for her own good. Kiara doesn't mind drawing attention to herself and has quite the mischievous streak and a knack for getting herself into trouble, that being said she's also pretty good at talking her way out of said trouble. She has a burning desire to prove herself and her curiosity can sometimes get the better of her. Kiara is relatively friendly and talkative, though if you get on her bad side she won't hesitate to let you know. She can be playful and teasing, but when it matters most you will find that her loyalty runs deep and she would go to the ends of the earth for those she cares about.
Positive Traits:
- Hyper observant
- Brave (perhaps too much so for her own good)
- Outgoing
- Honest and trustworthy
- She's very intelligent when she puts her mind to something
- She has a naturally good heart and is typically very empathetic towards those going through hardships
Negative Traits:
- Reckless
- Incessantly stubborn
- Can sometimes be oblivious (especially when it comes to romantic relationships - if you're staring at her she'll assume it's because she has something on her face)
- Bluntly honest
- Easily distracted
MBTI Type: ENTJ
Moral Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Temperament: Choleric

Likes:
- Animals, from the muggle word or the Wizarding World. Odds are she will try to pet it, regardless of how "vicious" they are known to be. Her experience with dragons has led her to believe that all creatures have a soft side if you know where to look.
- Sweets. She has a notorious sweet tooth and would likely spend her last dollar on a pumpkin pastie if given the opportunity.
- Scary movies, anything that gives her adrenaline, she's quite the thrill chaser
- Games, well.... winning games. She's not very fond of losing games.
- FLYING, whether it's on a broom, a hypogriff, an Abraxan or (especially) dragons. She feels more at home in the air than on the ground.
- Bows, she frequently puts them in her hair and firmly believes that all she needs is a bow to make her outfits look put together and well thought out
- Christmas!! Her love language is definitely gift giving and she KNOWS she already got you the perfect gift
- Children, they're honest and easy to understand
Dislikes:
- Misogynistic people (she grew up with three older brothers and had to fight of everything being the only girl)
- Bullies
- Shy people, she doesn't know what to do with them
- Large books, too many words and she will lose focus
- Homework
- Messes, surprisingly her ADHD mind works better when her surroundings are clean and organized
- Doing the dishes, this was always her chore growing up and she still recoils every time she thinks about touching soggy food
- The cold, she will have mittens and a scarf on if it drops below 50 degrees
- Puking pastels.... gross
Habits:
- Frequently plays with her hair whether she's bored or uncomfortable
- Taps her fingers on desks or walls or pretty much whatever is close to her
- Always pulls her knees into her chest when she's sitting
- Eating dessert before the main course
Fears:
- Spiders, the one creature she can't convince herself to get friendly with
- Humans, in her experience they are particularly cruel and judgmental
- The ocean, she's not a very strong swimmer
- Loud noises, they always seem to catch her off guard
- Puking pastels... again, gross.
Hobbies:
- Hiking
- Hanging out with magical creatures (and riding them, particularly Abraxans, Hypogriffs and Dragons)
- She's very good at wizard chess
- Shopping (mostly just browsing though, she rarely buys anything)
- Conquering her fears, so if anybody is good with swimming or spiders she could use the help!
Mental Disorders: Undiagnosed ADHD (which also leads to raging insomnia)

Family:
Father - Dimitri Sinclaire (52)
Mother - Marcella Sinclaire (48)
Older Brothers - Adrian Sinclaire (27), William Sinclaire (23), and Luca Sinclaire (19)
Hometown: Bucharest, Romania
Backstory: Kiara grew up in Bucharest, Romania with her parents and three older brothers. Her parents made a fair enough living breeding exotic dragons for many prestigious clients around the Wizarding World, until the breeding of most species of dragons was outlawed throughout Europe. At this point, her parents took their remaining dragons and moved to a large estate in Champagne, France, where they continued to raise and rescue dragons, especially from abusive or hoarding situations. Growing up around the giant creatures, they became a huge part of Kiara's life. There was never a beast she couldn't love, and she found that if she spent enough time with any of them, eventually they learned to love her too. Still, she knows that some of them have their triggers and can be violent when provoked, so she's made a point to learn their boundaries. As rambunctious as they were, she found that the dragons were nothing compared to the chaos and incessant pestering of her elder brothers. Her brothers were never malicious or cruel, in fact, as much as they bickered she knew that her brothers would move mountains for her. However, as the youngest and the only girl amongst her siblings, she was frequently left out of games, teased and taunted, and forced to fight for everything she wanted. It made her a stronger and more outgoing individual, and eventually she became one of the boys. Now, her older brothers know better than to mess with her, as she's perhaps the most hot headed in the family.

WanderLust. WanderLust. Kiara is accepted! Only thing I noticed (no big deal, I promise) is that you left her hobbies blank, so maybe consider filling these in if you wanna give her more options to connect to other characters. And I think Naomi also has a bat named Zuko, so clearly ATLA is a popular show among the Wizarding World! No problem though, they have good taste. Excellent form, and I'm excited to meet your other babes.

I totally changed my mind and decided to do a Hogwarts secondary in lieu of a Durmstrang secondary oops

63cefcab078f154d57dff90b22e5de51.gif

Full Name: Theodore James West
Name Meaning: "Theodore" ancient greek for "Gift from God"
"James" hebrew for "supplanter"
'West" old english origins, an abreviation for "western stream"
Nicknames: Theo
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Birthdate: April 20

Nationality: English
School: Hogwarts
Rank: Champion
Year: 6th
House (some schools may not be applicable): Slytherin (though he was quite the hat stall, he was almost placed in gryffindor)
Wand: Ebony wood with chimaera scale core, 14 inches and rigid (a hand-me-down from his paternal grandfather)
Pet: N/A

Blood Status: Pureblood
Patronus: Theo cannot cast a corporeal patronus, instead his wand just emits a barrier of blue light
Boggart: His brother, Cas, staring at him with a smirk
Quidditch: Chaser (and a damn good one at that)
Preferred Classes: Defense Against the Dark Arts and Potions

Appearance: Theo is a very large, muscular creature who exudes strength and confidence. Sharp, masculine features define his objectively attractive physique. He has thick eyebrows, tanned skin, a strong, dimpled chin, sharp jawline and deep, molten amber eyes. He keeps his brown hair cropped relatively short, though frequently has a few longer strands at the top that give it a messy look. As expected for one as physically active as himself, Theo has broad shoulders, and stands a few inches taller than most of his classmates. Overall, most would describe him as handsome and hulking, and he has no objections to that.
Wardrobe:
Outfit 1
Outfit 2
Outfit 3
Outfit 4
Scent: Frosted cedarwood and
Height & Weight: 6'2" and 190 pounds
Body Modifications: N/A
Physical Disabilities: N/A
Faceclaim: Jacob Elordi

Personality: In a word, abrasive. While his cool exterior and relatively devil may care attitude may persuade some to believe otherwise, Theo is incredibly closed off and guarded when it comes to the more personal aspects of his life. Most of his relationships, whether romantic or friendships, are incredibly superficial. He preserves alliances for the sake of image and safety in numbers, but he wouldn't hesitate to turn on those he calls friends if something that served him better presented itself. His loyalty runs deep, though it is not granted to anyone at the moment besides his sister and his father. He won't stick out his neck for you, even if he's on your team, and if he's not on your team, you should hope you don't catch his attention. While he strives to exude control over all things in his life, he fails miserably when it comes to throttling his anger. Underneath his facade, Theo is actually very perceptive and even feels great empathy or (more often than not) guilt for those whose lives are worse than his, but he would never let anyone see that lest risk being called weak. Despite all of this, socializing comes fairly easy to him. He is charismatic and charming when he wants to be, which is likely why he's had so much "success" in the field of women so far, though he would never voluntarily allow himself to develop any genuine feelings during a competition such as the one at hand.
Positive Traits:
- Intelligent
- Brave
- Driven
- Ambitious
- Confident (though one might argue this as cocky, which is more of a negative trait)
- Can be charismatic when he needs to be
- Protective of those he deems worthy of protection (i.e. his little sister)
Negative Traits:
- Selfish
- Aggressive
- Manipulative
- Arrogant
- Rowdy
- Impatient
- Stubborn
- Superiority complex
MBTI Type: ESTP
Moral Alignment: Chaotic neutral
Temperament: Choleric

Likes:
- Alcohol
- Pretty much any sport besides baseball, he doesn't have the patience for baseball
- Movies, he's a total cinephile
- Proving he's *better than you*
- Girls, what's a man to do?
- Loud music, you can probably hear the bass in his headphones from 10 feet away
- The outdoors, one of the few things in this life that actually brings Theo peace
Dislikes:
- He's not big on any mind-altering substances or potions (besides alcohol), his IED is too unpredictable
- Homework or excessive amounts of reading
- Know it all (or anyone that one-ups him)
- His brother
- Legilimens in general, his older brother Cassius was especially skilled at legillimency and never gave Theo a moments peace. Consequently, Theo has picked up his fair share of occlumency skills in an attempt to keep Cas out of his head
- Authority figures, again this one probably stems from his complicated relationship with his brother
Habits:
- He cracks his knuckles (or his neck) frequently, something about tension in his body and the need to remind others he's not afraid to throw a punch
- Clicking his pen when writing
- Doodling when he's bored, though he's definitely no Picasso
- Incessantly picks at his own cuticles, unclear whether this is a nervous tick or some sort of self depricating behavior
- Locks his jaw or chews the inside of his cheek
Fears:
- Claustrophobia
- Someone being inside his head again like his brother was
- Something happening to his little sister
- He won't admit this, but his brother in general
Hobbies:
- Working out, usually in the form of lifting weights, but he's not picky. He has a lot of energy to expel daily or he gets himself into trouble (more so than usual anyways)
- Back home, he really enjoyed riding horses and was quite competitive at it, until he grew a little too large and muscular for the sport at which point he resigned to just watch the races.
- He frequently walks around Hogwarts grounds with his little sister, perhaps the only person in this world he has a soft spot for
- Flying (broom, mostly for quidditch practice)
- Duelling club, he's got quite the reputation for being an exceptionally brutal opponent
Mental Disorders: Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED) - Theo suffers from some pretty violent outbursts which sometimes take form verbally or physically. He does not cope well with his own anger issues.

Family:
Father - Michael West (45)
Mother - Olivia West (deceased)
Older Brother - Cassius West (22)
Younger Sister - Madison West (13)
Hometown: Cornwall, England
Backstory: Theo comes from an old money, pureblood family in Cornwall. The Wests have always been very proud of their heritage and bloodline, though Theo himself never really valued blood status much at all. His mother, Olivia, passed during childbirth when Theodore was just five years old. He doesn't remember her well, but the few memories he does have of her are warm and soft, much like the little sister she left Theo with. His siblings were polar opposites. His elder brother, Cassius, was a brute of a boy who got his kicks out of making Theo feel small and insignificant. Like their father, Cas was born with a certain aptitude for legilimency, and always found it hilariously entertaining to dig inside Theo's mind and cause whatever mischief he could. Eventually, it got to a point where Theo wasn't sleeping, eating, or even speaking much. It was a terrifying reality, for a young boy to not even feel safe in his own mind. Eventually, his father stepped in, teaching Theo enough occlumency to protect his mind from Cassius' advances, but Theo took this one step further. Desperate, and driving by self-preservation, Theo picked up evert book he could get his hands on about occlumency and built up his walls as high and as thick as he could get them. At times, Theo wonders if he might've taken this self-defensive project a bit too far, as he ended up pushing away and keeping out more than just his brother.
Theo spent a majority of his time at Hogwarts feeling rather isolated. Sure, he was surrounded by people who called themselves his friends, and he was rather popular in his grade (especially amongst his fellow slytherin peers) but most of these friendships were incredibly superficial. People liked being around Theo because of the protection he offered, it was better to be on his good side than his bad side. Still, he preferred this, the solitude, over whatever weakness Cas had made him feel before. Once his elder brother graduated Hogwarts, Theo was able to make a name for himself. He was a relatively successful quidditch player, despite having quite a few quarrels with other players both on and off the field. He excelled at dueling club, relishing the power and invincibility he felt when he was able to conquer his opponents with a simple flick of his wand. He dedicated his entire academic career to making himself feel powerful, invincible... in control. Perhaps the only weakness Theo has ever exhibited (besides his failure to control his aggressive outbursts) is his little sister, Madison. Unlike the rest of the West family, the youngest child was unfailing kind and gentle. When she was younger, Theo would frequently read her bedtime stories, he even taught her how to ride a broom, and made it a point to ensure that absolutely nobody at Hogwarts messed with his little sister, she was strictly off limits, and anyone who dared cross her would face his full wrath.

Sexuality: Heterosexual
Relationship Status: single and will flirt with anything that moves
Crush(es): I seriously doubt he'd use that word but Aurelia might peek his interest
Past Partners: Oh he's had quite a few as he's a notorious womanizer, but nothing worth mentioning. (I would love to have a plot where one of his exes is in the tournament)
Turn-Ons: Long hair, feisty, conversation starters, challenge him but don't dismiss him as a villain, nicknames and playful banter
Turn-Offs: Bad hygiene, short hair, too mushy or over emotional, stonewalling him
Dominant or Submissive: Dommmmmm
