I'll make my character soon but a question of mine is can my character be powerful like near or at a Demon Lord's level?
you can be close. But not at demon lord
level. They Are meant to be overwhelmingly powerful, You could make one of Garrots Allies who stood against Balmond. (he's a good example of the max power for mortals, still very dangerous but not unstoppable.)
Ok, ok, ok, I'm adding something. I'm still in the process of creating characters and background info so I'm not sure if this will be the last adjustment.
Earl William and his men will come from the Kingdom of Mercia, a realm experiencing a series of civil wars over claims of the throne. People there are prejudicial towards magic, and it has long been banned by the authorities there, especially by the Church, an ancient religion that's... basically based on Christianity.
So whaddaya guys think?
That Earl guy a fucking douchebag.
Bingo, he was especially designed to be that one guy that gets on everyone's nerves.
He's also here for a special reason. You did hear him say something about not letting a bunch of peasants ruin their "mission", right? You can know about it if you ask.

Consider me asking
Earl William Regan was caught by the Sheriff of Markham to answer for his crimes. Before he was captured, the Earl and knights were battling the Sheriff and his deputies in combat. And just when it seemed that the Sheriff was bound to lose, some of William's rivals came in to save the day. So William was rounded up, soundly beaten, and he was off to be sent to justice with William sobbing all throughout the way, begging for mercy.
"You ca-can't be doing t-this to me!"
William received a smack in reply. Two others joined in the fun and began kicking William around until the Sheriff told them to knock it off.
He was about to be hanged in a small town hall just when Bishop Faust came. Everyone expected for Bishop Faust to condemn William, and condemn him he did. But then he started preaching about forgiveness, and he gave a stirring speech about salvation for evil men such as William. His thunderous words were so powerful that it shamed the audience into thinking that an evil man like William was to be hanged because of their hate for him.
The Sheriff was not buying the Bishop's crap and asked him what he was up to. Bishop Faust said that he didn't need him, it was God that needed him. William could be forgiven for his crimes if he were to be sent to a mission to a faraway city called Goldenbridge to conquer it in the name of the Lord. Many people still thought magic was a blessing, but how wrong they were! Magic was the manifestation of evil, the incarnation of man's rebellion against God. And the way magic attracted demons was further proof of their misgivings.
William didn't actually know what the fuck was going on, but it was much better than hanging! So he solemnly bowed before the Bishop and cried his heart out. He likened himself to the Prodigal Son that spent all his inheritance in a distant country and ran back to his father for forgiveness. And the father did forgive the son, and they lived happily ever after. So will William who wasted the good will of the people because of his selfishness, so will he travel to the place where he can fulfill his mission to God and then he shall receive His forgiveness.
The Sheriff was alarmed but he could not utter any more words lest he risk the wrath of both the Earl and the Bishop. He could do nothing. Nothing at all.

The plan is for William and his fellow Mercians to enter into the city of Goldenview in the hopes that they will gain the trust of the inhabitants. Then as more of the Mercians come in for reinforcements, such as Earl Richard, or more Earls, they will gradually build up in numbers and try to take the city for themselves.
BUT there's a catch. The civil war raging on in the Kingdom of Mercia is more serious than everyone thought, and so William will probably receive no reinforcements since so many people are busy fighting in his homeland. So he's stuck there, twiddling his thumbs, wondering what to do next. He'll probably just fight with the Goldenview defenders and give up on his mission altogether if nobody comes to help him. There are too many to fight here.
This is so I won't interrupt the plot, but I can give an evil man like William some incentive to fight alongside his more virtuous compatriots. He just doesn't fight here without a damn good reason you know.
I might slug this Earl guy in the face....If he gets on my nerves.
Cool.
