world building help needed plz and ty!
hey everyone! i'm looking for some help building a fantasy world. all open to ideas and criticism.ty all so so so much!! ^^
species so far:
- elves
~ high maintenance and snarkier than most species
~ makeup and cosmetics are frowned upon in the elves culture, natural looks are everything
~ jewelry and accessories are a must no matter the elves rank but every subspecies has its own way of accessorizing
- highland elves accessorize with branches, leaves and animal teeth
- river elves accessorize with flat stones, pebbles, sea shells and fish scales (fish scales are more common for upper class river elves) and beach glass
- mainland elves accessorize with gold and gems
- cave elves accessorize with sharp stones, animal bones, and upper class cave elves use certain gems and minerals that are found in the caves such as diamond, iron and gold
~ subspecies which include:
- highland elves; lives in the mountains, traditionally longer hair, sharper ears that are closer to the top of their heads (almost horn-like), highland elves with high ranks wear crowns of branches, taller and legs resemble a deer's, clothes made of varying animal pelt, the wisest of elf subspecies and are relatively calm but won't hesitate to attack when needed
- river elves: live near bodies of water (most commonly rivers), females wear their hair in messy buns or tight braids woven into buns and males wear their hair in long braids, ears look more webbed along with hands and feet, noses are significantly smaller than any other subspecies of elves, river elves hate violence and when they get threatened they seek refuge in bodies of water and become extremely defensive over the area, overall a very small elf species, gills
> river elf adventurers sometimes find pearls which are very rare and expensive in river elf culture. when pearls are found they can either be taken by the adventurers (which is against the law in this culture) or they can hand in the pearls to a river elf officer
- mainland elves; live in the prairies or forests, the richest of elves, fairly basic looking and almost look like humans with larger eyes, sharper ears and their average height is 6'3-6'5 for males and females, hair is generally on the shorter side with regular citizens but upper class elves tend to have intricate hairstyles and haircuts, the most aggressive and territorial type of elf
- cave elves; obviously, these elves live in caves or areas lacking light, no one really interacts with the cave elves aside from themselves, the cave elves are all SUPER pale, have white or light blonde hair, and light blue or lavender eyes, these elves have echolocation like bats but also similar to bats have bad eyesight, they are a really quiet elf subspecies, their teeth are extremely sharp and don't dull easily, cave elves don't really style their hair, due to this their hair is very long and they only cut it every 7 or so years, otherwise they believe it is bad luck, they have very big and bat-like ears, some even have tufts of fur at the very tips of their ears, paws for feet
- mixed elves; mixed elves are not common, usually when born they get sorted into their father's subspecies (ex. a mainland elf (male) and a highland elf (female) have a child together, the child would be sorted into the category of a mainland elf despite it's looks), looks can vary and are almost up to the creator aside from hairstyles, accessories and outfits (looks must have some resemblance to both parental subspecies) - goblins
~ used as housekeepers, librarians or teacher's assistants (only librarians or teacher's assistants when they have above average goblin IQ)
~ not the smartest species
~ only rich people, royalty, libraries or schools have goblins
~ they look like a mix between a cat and toad - sprites
~ fairies basically
~ aggressive and kind of evil
~ extremely sharp nails and teeth no matter the subspecies
~ elemental
~ subspecies which include:
- earth sprites; live closer to ground, their homes are usually nest-like in a spot with a good view, they learned this from killdeer birds, smaller and weaker wings keeping them closer to the ground, due to living close to the ground the earth sprites are better at defense than most sprites, green, brown and grey
- air sprites; most common subspecies of sprite, live in the trees or in bird houses, stronger wings and more stamina to keep them off the ground, dark green, brown and blue
- water sprites; live near rivers only and are allies with the river elves, water proof wings which are really only good for swimming and not suggested for flying, webbed feet and hands, small fish tail, blue and green
- fire sprites; fire sprites live in the mountains, although it is colder up there, it is more likely for fires to be lit for warmth which these sprites need to live, fire sprites have better lungs and are very quick, fire sprites are the least common sprites, red, orange and yellow
- mixed sprites; mixed sprites are illegal and any mixed sprites will be executed upon birth - centaur
~ hard headed brutes
~ opinionated and VERY stubborn
~ hard workers
~ very strong
~ centaurs are obviously half human but the other half can have animals such as:
- horses, donkeys, mules

- llamas, alpacas
