[The Cobalt Killer]

Here's a character from a novel I'm writing who I adapted for an RP:

Adam McCarthy

Nick Name: Well, er... Adam?


Age: I'm 14 years strong! Or something...


Grade: Wait! I know this one... Er, 9th! Sorry, we don't have grades in England...


Height: 6'1" Yeah, I'm tall...


Weight: Hey! Ugh, fine... 102lbs! If you switch the '2' and the '0'... But it's all muscle!


Eyes: Brown, right?


Hair: Also Brown


Build: Athletic


Markings/Scars: I do have a gash on my left arm. It'll clear up soon though.


Appearance Notes: I don't always look so dead...


Personality

Man, er ok... Well, I think that I am quite honest mostly but also a bit rash in my actions. I care for others and am quite trusting, all the while I CAN tell the good from the bad. I'm quite intelligent to be honest, or at least my reasoning is of a pretty high standard. I'm not really one to buckle under pressure and I'll stand my ground. I like to believe that I'm funny, but often times my jokes are the end of my relationships.

Skills/Hobbies:


I'm quite good at puzzle solving and video games. I'm fairly sporty, but I do enjoy reading as well. I can tie knots with one hand and I'm sick at bouncing quarters.

Faults


Oh... I am a little bashful as I said earlier, and not the best at maintaining serious relationships. I'm not vain, but I can be a little self-conscious. I'm not the most knowledgeable. Sometimes, I can be too serious and accusing.

Virtues


I have good deductive reasoning and am good at connecting clues and inconsistencies. I can spot contradictions in everyday conversations in an instant. I can 'read' people, but mainly in the sense of being able to analyse their psychological state and behaviour. No Sherlock Holmes stuff. And also I am pretty good at fighting, mainly no-rules street fighting. I fight kinda dirty.

Pet Peeves:


I absolutely HATE it when people mispronounce or misuse certain words. I'm a serious Grammar Nazi. Oh, and I hate when people are either hypocritical or cowardly.

Worst Fear: Worst fear? Damn... Does my little cousin count? She's a real demon! Haha, only kidding. I suppose my worst fear would be losing the people I love. Including the little demon.

Inventory


Let's see, I got my mobile with enough charge to last a week, assuming that I don't play too many games. Er, what else? Aha, here is my wallet, complete with literally no cash. Why do I have it then? Well, it's got a picture of my cousin in it. You know? For comfort. Ahem, anyway, here's the rest; a watch, some extra clothes and my invite. Of course I'm bringing the overnight bag they're all in too.

He seems very peppy and enthusiastic! I'm wondering what happened to the poor kid to make him look so drained in his picture. What's your story about, if I may ask?


I'm personally endeared by his excitable tone, especially because my first attempt at a book had a character with a similarly eager nature. The Comic Sans font certainly adds to the impression.

Thank you, sincerely. In a way, this character is a little more two-faced than you think. He is at first an enthusiastic kind of guy, but when everything goes down (and makes him look so drained) he becomes much more of an aggressive character.

Yeah, I figured there'd be something more going on here. Novel characters never have it easy. The happier they seem, the more I expect the author to traumatize them. T_T


In this way, it's interesting to read a profile filled out from the character's perspective. The character's depth can be revealed through the RP rather than simply described.
