North-Wood Palm High

Ms. Estella Joan Anderson was a mother who, over the years, still never managed to grasp the concept of true parenting.

She was not one to cheer on her daughter at her ballets, hell, she may have been to three of them in the past, nor did she give much appraisal for Macey's accomplishments. The one thing Ms. Anderson did well for her daughter, as well as everyone in the city, was cook, and for one to not know who she was would be a lie.

Owner of her own bistro, Stellas! Star Steak and Lobster House, had been branded with all kinds of awards and had received the highest honor of a Michelin Star.

Macey though, didn't let on to her here mother was, there were so many Anderson's in town she almost pretended her mother was someone else.

No of her friends would know Estella was her mom, but when they did find out, they would usually try to make a big deal out of it.

Ms. Anderson stepped inside the doorway, dressed in dress pants and a low-cut emerald top and heels. Her shirt had a small stain on in, probably the result of her helping someone in the kitchen for service. Her hair looked slightly frazzled and the dark circles under her eyes were results from drunken insomnia a few nights ago. Even from a distance, Macey could smell the bourbon on her. It was revolting. Her mom glanced up at Macey and Mason holding on to each other, she sighed and set her things down saying, "You didn't tell me you were having company."

Macey rolled her eyes and said blandly, "Yeah, nice too see you too mom."

She looked up at Mason and kissed his cheek before saying, "And I didn't tell you because you aren't interested to begin with, but mom, this is my boyfriend, Mason."

Mason smiled "Nice to meet you, Ms. Anderson, as you know, my name is Mason, it's a pleasure meeting you" he said. Mason rubbed Mae's back softly. He looked at her, then her mom. He could feel the tension between the two. He kissed the top of Mae's head and placed his chin on top of her head.

"Yeah yeah kid," Estella said grimly before standing up and heading to the kitchen.

"Did you kids eat supper yet?"

"No mom, we didn't," Macey replied, taking Mason's hand and squeezing it gently as he guided him to the kitchen.

She took a seat on a barstool against their counter and spun around on it.

"By the way, Grandpa wanted me to tell you hello from him. Mason helped him bring our new gravel to the shed."

Estella heated up the stove and took out two steaks that had been marinating all day in delicious seasonings. She then took out some potatoes that she had mashed in the morning and seasoned them up, setting them on the opposite side of the stove. She reached into the cabinet and pulled out a large bottle of whiskey, screwed upp the cap and took a swig from the bottle.

Macey slapped her hands on the countertop, "Mom seriously!? You're going to keep drinking even when I have somebody over?"

Her mother turned around and smiled grimly, "It's what I do when I cook. Makes the food taste better." she pointed at Mason with her long skinny finger, "Do you have a problem with it kid? No? Didn't think so."

She turned back to the stove and set the steaks into the skillet.

Mason smiled "It's fine sweetie, I don't want you getting yelled at" he whispered in Mae's ear. He put his arm around Mae's back, and rubbed her arm softly. He was a little nervous, but he shook it off. He looked at Mae softly and smiled. He took her hand and held in between the two seats

(Sure thing here you go:)

Alissa smiled, she kissed his cheek and lips. She put her head on his chest, then her hand over his heart

"So Mark," Ms Anderson said, completely getting Mason's name wrong, "How do you like your steak cooked? Mae-Mae likes her medium. Isn't that right sweetie?"

Macey sighed and nodded her head. She could tell her mom hadn't taken her medication today. She always seemed to do it at the worst possible times. She'd go a good long month keeping up with her medicine, it even helped her drinking, but some days she just wouldn't do it.

Macey squeezed his hand back softly.

Mason smiled "could I have my steak cooked medium as well?" he asked. Mason looked at Mae kindly, she looked worried; he would make sure he made her safe later. He combed his hair back with his fingers and smiled

Alissa smiled, and put her arms around his neck. She hugged him back, and looked at him "Awh thank you" she said with a little smirk

"No thanks necessary." Logan said smirking back. As Alissa had her arms around his neck, he put one hand on her back, and the other behind her head, and played with her hair. He leaned in and kissed her passionately.

"Sure thing," Mae's mom said, taking another swig of whiskey.

Mae stood up and snatched the bottle from her.

"Finish cooking and then you can take this to your room, I don't want you to burn the house down."

She set the bottle down on her side of the counter and screwed the cap back on.

Ms. Estella sighed and finished cooking in silence. She heated up the potatoes on the stove, and when the steaks were cooking perfectly, she set them on plates, plated the potatoes and garnished them with a few sprigs of cilantro and drizzled the pansauce over it. She set two plates in front of Macey and Mason then took her bottle and went down the hall to her room, closing the door behind her.

An awkward silence lingered as Macey began cutting her steak. she sighed and said softly, "Sorry about her."

Alissa smiled. She ran her fingers through his hair and kissed passionately for a long time. She smiled as she finished kissing him. She looked at him, and put her hand on the side of his head.

Mason cut his steak. He hugged Macey "It's ok, nobody's perfect" he said kissing her cheek softly, then eating a piece of his steak

Alissa smiled, she ran her hand up and down his arm. She smiled and sat up, she took a piece of popcorn and threw it a Logan, she laughed and playfully stuck her tongue out.

"Especially Estella," Macey said half smiling and taking a bite of her steak.

She closed her eyes as the meat practically melted in her mouth. It tasted so good.

She couldn't help but give her mom props for the meal. No one cooked better than her.

She took another bite and leaned toward Mason, bumping him gently on the shoulder and then sat back up asking,

"So what are your parents like?"

((All this steak is making me hungry, going make lunch, I'll be back soon!))

Mason smiled, he ate another piece of his steak, and chuckled "Busy. Usually I make my own meals, but when they are home, they love to have fun, but usually end up fighting" he said "I should bring you over to my house sometime" he said

(Ok, have fun :P )

Alissa laughed and held onto Logan's arms. She kissed him, then smiled, she broke his hold and jumped off the couch "Betcha can't get me" she said with a smile. She quickly ran outside into the darkness and waited for Logan to come.

Logan laughed and ran after Alissa. He snuck up to her from behind and grabbed her at he waist. Logan lifted Alissa off the ground and swung her around, and then kissed her. "Caught ya." he said smiling.

Alissa laughed. When Logan picked her up, she had a big smile on her face. she put her arms around his neck, and looked up at the sky; stars were everywhere. Alissa smiled "Look at the sky, it's so beautiful" she whispered

"I'd love that," Mae said as they ate.

When they finished, she took their plates and rinsed them in the sink, and then stuck them in the dishwasher.

"Well, it's getting late, you should probably head home," The sentence came out as more of a question than a statement.

She stepped into his arms and looked up at him.

Mason smiled and held her tight "Im not going to leave just yet" he said with a smile, he took her hand and led her outside and looked at her "Firs we should watch the stars" he said sitting down, and pulling her down next to him, smiling

Mae laid next to Mason and looked up at the sky. She held onto his hand and rested her other arms behind her head.

"It's always so beautiful, sometimes, I come out just like this. When the sky is totally clear, and I try to find the difference in the stars positions, or to see if maybe finally one of the lights went out."

She looked up at Mason and said, "Sometime I think I can find them, but I know its probably just my imagination. Like for instance...." She pointed up to a tiny tiny star next the little dipper, "I swore that there was a bigger one right next it yesterday. I know our view of the sky changed every single night, but, still. I like to think I actually know something about Astronomy."

Mason smiled, he kissed her softly "I bet they were" he said he pointed to the sky, he smiled "Look, there's a shooting star, what do you wish for?" he asked hugging her tight
