Hey peeps, a few weeks ago I suggested the idea of a fantasy RP taking place in a Egyptian/Moroccan/Arabian setting, and people seemed to be interested. So here it is! It something different from the typical fantasy setting and I think it should be fun and refreshing to play. I've made a character that you guys can use as a reference when making your own character. Hope to hear from some of you! https://www.rpnation.com/threads/north-african-fantasy-nassor-return-of-the-mortis.98247/

I don't have the time to join, but if I could award you internet points for this one I would. Good job.

A refreshing setting. Is there any more lore or fluff regarding the different tribes, or is it still in development?

I was going to tag you for this one.

There is more; but I wasn't sure whether or not to include it. I wanted to give players some creative freedom. But I can see that giving people some more to go off of lore wise may be beneficial in making a character. I'll try to get some stuff up tonight.

I always favour giving players as much information as possible, especially cultural information for games like this, because it informs richer characters - I find players exercise their creativity more effectively with guidelines and structure. Still, just my two cents. Good luck with this one.

@Bardiel, I've added some lore to each ethnicity; hopefully this will give you a bit more to go off of if you're still interested in making a character. I've gotten really into it and have a lot good ideas; I hope to hear from you :) .

No interest in this? Really? :(

It can a week, sometimes. And some members are intimidated by things this well thought-out, or outside their experience.

If I had the time, I'd be in.

Keep trying, maybe pitch or play something else for a bit and try again in a month. I've got open spaces if you want to try something and don't find anything immediate among the forums. I think I do, anyway.

I'll try it again in a month or so I suppose. It's just really disheartening to put that much work into an RP without any bites :/ . @Grey, do you have any openings in any fantasy RPs?

I should, but be forewarned - they can involve a fair bit of reading to prepare for and I use a slightly crunchier system.

You see the second link in my sig? Required reading for most of them.

And yes, it is disheartening - I know. Seriously, search for the interest checks I've pitched sometime.

The additional lore adds to the already refreshing scenario. As Grey suggested, try not to be disheartened in uptake.

I suddenly have more time, so I may be onboard depending on who else joins.

In the event this doesn't get off the ground, you might like something I'm working on here.

Sweet; unfortunately I haven't had much luck getting others on board, which is rather a shame.

As for your rp, is there magic/supernatural powers in this world? If so, to what degree? Considering the pirate setting, could I create a character skilled in voodoo; a witch doctor of sorts in the Caribbean style?

There's a fair bit of magic, but it wouldn't work like voodoo, really - you either trade parts of yourself to Spirits in exchange for magical power, or are born with power to coerce and consume Spirits, or I'd allow someone with more general magic. You can learn about the setting here
