"I would gladly do so Miss Amice. Meeting them would be quite a pleasure. And I understand you quite well. Doing something on your own even if with the help of others is something else than doing it with your family who will help you with no reason. Even I have a motive in helping you, My lady wished to see me so I came, and since she wanted to help you so did I, though it took but a little back and forth talk was enough to convince me that you are worth helping, even if all I get in return is your smile." Viole replied with a genuine serene smile on his face, sure it was a small smile but a genuine smile, not a forced one. Though he did not feel it on his face it was evident he was fixing himself even without his own knowledge.

"Yes cuteness, something like pretty but reserved for those younger and innocent. Such as you." Viole answered, telling Amice what the word meant after all such a curious young mind is a sponge for knowledge, so he was willing to answer any of her questions, as long as he knew the answer to it of course.
"I don't know that word my dear sadly so I can't tell you. But I am just but a humble servant to her family, though I did watch her grow up at some point, but since then she has changed almost completely."

As the kitty was somewhat close to it Viole lunged his hand towards its tail while focusing himself on his recently completed pocket dimension magic, wanting to catch the little guy, and shortly after release it from its temporary jail in the pocket dimension with Viole holding the cat by the scruff on its neck so it wont do too much. At least that's the plan.

“You have certainly succeeded in preserving your youth, madam.” Edwin’s lips curled with a slight upward twitch, his narrowed eyes catching the soft contours of her face. The flattery wasn’t mere pretense; her appearance bore minimal traces of age, an advantage that came with noble lineage, no doubt. However, he couldn’t help but note the absence of any 'Mr. Felinus.' Had she been widowed? Or perhaps, he mused, her adoration for those insufferable fleabags left no room for other pursuits.

“Truth be told, I am the first of my House to bear noble rank,” he remarked, his hand rising to tap a slow, deliberate rhythm against the skull embossing on his breastplate. The metallic clink echoed faintly, each tap underscoring his point. “My elevation was recent—likely why my name holds no particular resonance in noble circles…yet.”

When she gently entreated him to broker some semblance of peace with the insufferable Ul, his gaze flickered, holding back a roll of his eyes. Still, he allowed his expression to soften, his lips pulling into a semblance of a smile. “I suppose I can forgive and forget Lady Ul’s transgressions… at least for now.” It was the best he could offer, and he did so with exaggerated patience.

As the noblewoman excused herself to fetch the tea, Edwin let his three-pronged, dark lance rest against the wall before he approached the offered seat. Lowering himself, he felt the chair groan beneath the weight of his armor, yet it held as he leaned back, reaching a gauntleted hand forward to retrieve the teacup.

The first sip was richly aromatic, its complex bitterness washing over his tongue and clearing his mind. “Delicious…” he murmured, offering a rare, genuine compliment. After another sip, he reached for the honey, unbothered by any raised brows, revealing his penchant for sweetness as he added a generous amount. As he stirred, his azure gaze rested on their host, quietly appraising her.

“If I may,” he began, his tone conversational but marked by a subtle curiosity, “how long has it been since you retired from noble management?” He paused, recalling the title of “retired noblewoman” in the request. Her departure from formal affairs piqued his interest, as did her choice to reside in this quaint yet eccentric abode.

Ul shook her head, still unsure what possible reason Edwin could have for coming along other than being a total annoyance. Despite the woman's offer for tea, it felt like things would be easier if they had just gotten a move on. Plus, the longer they spent here was likely more difficult that it'd prove to locate the missing cats... or increase the likelihood one died without them being aware.
"Don't play cute, I sure know as hell you aren't letting anything slide as long as it boosts your ego" Ul muttered, not buying it for a second as she passed on any offer of tea.

"Besides, clearly as someone so indulging to help, you should know that it benefits all to not waste your time so we can find said cats before it becomes too late. That is, if you're apparently too incapable, you can remain here the entire time whilst it is dealt with. I couldn't care. I and the others will return in due time, ma'am" the elf answered, not wanting to hold up any more time as she placed down the cat in her hold to go to the door and leave. She'd once again be careful to not let any cats leave and to not open the door too much, deciding that it'd be worth going to find Viole and Amice to just get started.

She nodded so hard her neck started to hurt when she realised Viole truly understood her trials. “Exactly!” Even with others helping, this was definitely a battle and a challenge of its own. The last bit made her stop and look rather worried. “My... my smile?” She'd stammer. She didn't know Viole's help came at such a high cost. “So I won't be able to smile any-more after you helped me? Is that how you lost your own smile and want mine now?” She asked, getting more worried by the second.

“I'm not that young! I'm already ten and six years old.” She'd counter-argue one part. “Asuka and Tahmuras just say people think I'm younger because I never went to a learning place.” She hesitated a bit, then added. “It's probably also why I don't know many common words. Like inn-o-cent.”

On the topic of that, she still wondered if Viole and Ul were married. “Oh, if you watched her grow up, I guess you're not {married}, that would be weird.” She'd nod. “Why did you become a servant for them? Is that fun?” She'd ask, a tad curious about that bit as well.

Meanwhile, Viole's attempt succeed. Thankfully, this cat happened to be small enough to fit, as whilst the quest, the elderly lady and Amice kept calling them kittens due to various differing reasons, they were most definitely full-grown cats. That said, Amice was thoroughly shocked for a few seconds. “Where did it go!??” She called out, only to see it reappear in Viole's hands. “Oh... I thought it got eaten...”

The cat, meanwhile, was not happy. Blazing, hissing and scratching like a demon after suddenly having been caught like that. As much as it liked the dark, that was too much for even that cat to suddenly deal with. “I think its angry.” Amice stated the obvious.

She chuckled at Edgewin's statement. “Oh, you're such a charmer dear, but there's no need to lie. The age catches up after delaying it for so long.” She'd state, though perhaps just feigning humility.

“Ah, the first of your House? Truthfully, I'm a bit jealous. Being part of a long-lasting line of nobles means you're easily forgotten in time. Yet being the first, you'll be able to try set-up a grand destiny for those to come after you to remember you by.” She'd state, staring into the distance, deep in thought for a moment, until a cat climbed the curtains. “No, Spot, bad!” She called, which actually made the cat drop down and walk off, surprisingly enough.

Upon her return, she'd hear the next question. “Oh dear, it's been long. My glory days were only short after the war ended and this country was formed. I got married and settled for a lower position to raise some children and retired when my husband died. That should give you a clue, but a lady can't tell more about her age now, can she?” She'd chuckle a bit at the latter, before calling out. “Kitkat, stop being mean to Fiddle!” She'd call out to two other cats, as they'd promptly move away from one another upon her words.

“Oh dearie, I like your dedication, but do please be careful!” She'd call after Ul, who'd leave with enough tact not to let another cat escape and would run into the scene between Amice and Viole. Mainly with Viole holding a cat going absolutely feral at how it'd been caught.

"If there is one thing I don’t do, madam, it is lying." Edwin’s voice carried a firmness that left little room for doubt, his lips curling into a smile as he assured the woman that his compliment on her youthful appearance was genuine.

Turning his attention to Ul, he sipped his tea dispassionately as she continued her jabs, her every remark digging her deeper into what he imagined was an inevitable pitfall in front of the client. He couldn’t yet read the retired noblewoman’s opinion on Ul’s behavior, but there was a certain satisfaction in witnessing her imprudent descent.

“Good luck~” His words rolled off his tongue with a sarcastic lilt, his bright azure eyes settling on their host once more. “Indeed, there is much I am able and will do to pave the road for those who follow me in my lineage.” It was not merely an ambition but a statement of certainty, his conviction unshaken and absolute.

Edwin’s voice softened slightly as he spoke again, maintaining his decorum. “I would never be so crass as to ask your age, madam. The information you have provided has sated my curiosity entirely.” He rose from his seat, carefully placing his empty teacup down before refastening his horned helmet, the edges of his plated armor glinting under the light. Lifting his dark, three-pronged lance once more, he offered a nod of gratitude. “Thank you for your hospitality. I shall return with your cats.”

He turned on his heels, stepping carefully so as not to let any of the cats slip past him. As he exited, his thoughts drifted to the search ahead. Instead of rejoining the others, he chose to pursue one of the other missing cats, charting his path toward a different corner of the property. This was, after all, the sort of task he would see finished in his own way.

Unlike with Ul, the lady followed along with Edwin to personally ensure that none of her cats escaped. It was a good thing, as without the animal handling, one might've indeed slipped past him. They were slippery bastards for sure. As for his options, in the distance, he'd see Viole holding a cat scratching, hissing and clawing for its life with Amice watching. Probably the darkest one, Shadow? Or perhaps Luna, as he'd not really see its paws from this distance.

Either way, he'd have to guess or try use some skills for figuring out where the other cats might be. Based on what he'd learned thus far, about the cats, as well as what he'd seen about the village itself, there might be some likelier options. There were plenty of high places for a cat 'that likes heights' to go to, though the likeliest was the dormitory building for mineworkers. It was close enough for a cat that hadn't strayed too far, but by far the tallest place around. There didn't seem to be any smoke near the city, though there were some smelters closer towards the mines that billowed out smoke across the hills. The biggest gathering of people seemed to be in the small village square, for some reason. Perhaps a reason worth checking out? The village seemed to have a pastry shop, small as it was. It was close to a few other shops, though it was currently beating them all out with the scent of freshly baked cream pastries. Finally, there was the lake near the village, that might appeal to some types of cats. Perhaps not the type that likes water, but definitely those that'd want what's in it.

The corrupted knight was certainly glad that the client accompanied him, not particularly fancying to bonk any cats that attempted to escape in the head with the blunt part of his three-pronged lance. That was better saved for opponents who could actually give him even the slightest of challenges.

Outside, with the sun casting its rays against his obsidian armor, making it gleam as it absorbed the light, Edgywin began thinking where he should go next. Being one ready for war, and only war, the armored man would rely on the information given by the madam Felinus. Thinking about the layout of the village, and the interesting points that called his attention, he would remember about one cat in specific: Oreo.

That fleabag appeared to enjoy cream and, even standing in front of the old woman's house, the scent of the fresh pastries reached his nostrils. Deciding that to be his next stop, the baronet clicked his tongue twice, making his dark warhorse begin to follow him as he walked towards the pastry shop. Each of his steps were heavy, almost thumping so, armor clinking which any and every movement. However, he would eventually stop himself from being guided by the sweet scent when he spotted the gathering in the middle of the village square.

"Of course, the plebeian rabble always letting every little thing to distract them from their duties." He said to himself, scoffing, eyes narrowing as he gazed towards the ignorant masses. But even he knew that, sometimes, it was worthy to check out what the simple-minded crowd was absorbed with. And, with those thoughts on his mind, he diverted towards the square of the village, the black destrier following at his side. Upon reaching them, he would begin. "What is going on here?" He asked without preamble, the rumbling voice leaking from the small openings of his helmet. And, as he waited, his index finger of the hand which held the lance tapped against the metallic shaft, the clinking echoing from it in even intervals.

"Not what I meant miss Amice. I meant that seeing your smile seems to help me with my issues with emotions. So you will still have your smile don't worry, it's just that it helps me recover my emotions when I look at you smiling."
Viole shook his head upon hearing Amice's misunderstood reaction, correcting his words to make them simpler for her to understand. Truthfully he was concerned about her not understanding such things but at the same time he did not know her age so maybe it was normal for her age.
"Aah a sixteen year old then. You are looking quite bit younger compared to your age."
It was concerning, being this old and having trouble understanding things, but learning that she never went into a proper institute for learning things did explain some stuff, so right now he was concerned about her living conditions but glad that Asuka and Tahmuras taught her so much already on their own.

Viole tried explaining what the word innocent means, slowing down when saying the word so Amice could mimic the shape of his mouth to properly learn how to speak the word.
"I can teach you some thinks if you want. For example innocent means pure of sin, or in different words, it means a person who did not do anything bad."
Viole gladly explained it to Amice, he did start with a bit of a sad and melancholic tone of voice slowly transforming into a more happy and nostalgic one.
"I mean Ul's grandfather helped me live, before him I wasn't even able to move well or at all sometimes, so it started out of debt of gratitude but evolved into enjoyment of their company as they accepted me as their family."

"Not eaten. I pulled it into my pocket dimension for a split second, to catch it."

Viole said while gently albeit strongly holding onto the cats scruff as to not let it escape, after all they needed to give the cat back to the quest giver.
"It does appear to be angry. I think we should return this one to the quest giver, and ask about any other possible cats to be found."
With that said Viole ventured towards the house of the quest giver, with Amice probably following him, knocking on the door with one hand while still holding the cat.

Making sure to safely exit the house, and try to ignore Edgewin's pointless comments to search for what Viole and Amice had managed to get up to in her rather short time of being away from them, not taking long to come across them with what felt like a very angry cat. Rather internally questioning just what possibly had transpired to make a cat so mad, or if it was just in its nature, Ul supposed she may as well ask.
"So... how did it go?" the elf questioned, raising an eyebrow. If what the Catlady had said was true, then this must've been 'Shadow' and one of the cats that they had been after. She couldn't have been bothered to stay to find out if the big wad of metal would go after a cat and which one. But she may as well have started thinking.

"Lets see... she did say about the cats that were missing... quite an annoying amount of them but it'll have to be. The most obvious things I can think of is her saying about one cat who likes smoke for some reason... can't remember at all what they're called, but wherever's smoke should be obvious. That, or we can make our own... there's another which apparently just likes people, so it might be a good idea to see if we can ask if anyone's seen any cats. What else? One enjoys things that roll around? That sounds like a stretch, I couldn't think where to look for that... anyway, I'm gonna go into the village and hopefully start asking around. If I find any sightings at all, it'd at least make it a lot easier to start looking in the right direction. Once you turn that one back in, you can join me or split off to look elsewhere, whichever you feel would work better for you two" Ul answered, taking to her bike since they were clearly busy with one angry cat.

The people would move away upon spotting Edwin, clearly not wishing to interact with him any more than needed. Which, seeing how it wasn't needed, meant they didn't wish to interact with him at all. Only the inner-most crowd didn't move away. In fact, they didn't even seem to notice him, as they were all staring at something. As he'd manage to get close enough to see past, between or over them, he'd see it himself.

vwbEUTt.jpeg

Immediately, something tempered with his mind [Mind Control D], making him want to stay and stare at this beautiful creature. Such a perfect creation to bless his eye-sight. Such a marvellous being to observe. Perfection incarnate. Something that should be observed in its every step, to be worshipped for its beauty, yet to never be touched and disturbed... Either he would find a way to break out of it, or the effects would slowly start to reduce over time. The people around him, however, were staring equally entranced at the cat. Unable to snap out of it altogether.

Amice sighed in relief. “Oh, oh, that's good. I'm happy.” She'd state. “I'm happy that smiling makes you smile as well, rather than you taking mine.” She'd nod, as that was a good outcome for sure.

As for her age, she'd been told about that. “I was told that gnomes are smaller than most and I am a gnome. I was also told that I didn't always eat well enough to grow big and old well, even though I got plenty of berries and nuts and sometimes even fish from the river.” It sounded like she hadn't eaten any proper protein or carbohydrates for most of her life.

“Pure... of... sin?” That sounded weird. “I did do something bad though, I think. I once ran off without asking.” She'd confess. “So I can't be inn-o-cent.”

She'd smile upon Viole's last bit. “I like having a family. Asuka and Tahmuras are my family and it's great to have them. I... I think I miss them a bit. I'll be strong though!” She'd quickly add, not wanting to give up already. “Do you miss the grand father?”

YbXR9ry.jpeg

She'd nod upon seeing the cat reappear from the pocket dimension. It was still clawing and hissing up a storm though. “That was... {awesome} magic! Although the cat is still angry...” She'd clap, upon coming to understand the trick. “Alright, I'm sure the cat lady is still home!” She'd state, as they'd head towards the cat lady's house, only to bump into Ul.

Upon Ul's explanation Amice would nod. “Got it!” It was unclear how much she'd gotten or what she'd gotten.

As for where to go, Ul would reach most the same conclusions as Edgewin had; There were plenty of high places for a cat 'that likes heights' to go to, though the likeliest was the dormitory building for mineworkers. It was close enough for a cat that hadn't strayed too far, but by far the tallest place around. There didn't seem to be any smoke near the city, though there were some smelters closer towards the mines that billowed out smoke across the hills. The biggest gathering of people seemed to be in the small village square, for some reason. Though a fair bit of it would've dispersed due to Edgewin joining in. Perhaps it was still a reason worth checking out? The village seemed to have a pastry shop, small as it was. It was close to a few other shops, though it was currently beating them all out with the scent of freshly baked cream pastries. Finally, there was the lake near the village, that might appeal to some types of cats. Perhaps not the type that likes water, but definitely those that'd want what's in it.

Upon asking around for cat sightings, nine of ten people would mention the marketplace where Edgewin was at. A random few mentioned seeing one heading for the lake. One mentioned hearing odd sounds on the roof of the dormitory building. Finally, someone mentioned nearly having a heart attack after a cat jumped through his chimney, though the cat had already ran off again.

As Edgywin managed to get past the crowd, his faint, azure eyes laid upon the psychedelic-colored feline. Not even his rumbling rage and edginess would have prepared him for the mental assault conducted by the flea-bag.

Thoughts, previously geared towards crushing someone’s head on his underfoot, kicking a puppy or skinning these goddamn cats alive were replaced by sheer adoration and admiration. Shouldn’t he be glad to have had his eyes laid upon such a marvelous creature? Such a unique coat it had, such an apex specimen among its peers. One could go as far as to say that this cat, this very bluish feline, was superior when compared to the other ones in every way. So much so that it deserved the living space currently occupied by those cut from lower cloth.

However, for now, the corrupted knight was still too entranced by its stupendous visage to carry out the orders, the only ones acceptable, of ridding the land of the inferior cats. Indeed, for now, the baronet kept basking in its presence, even as thoughts of violence slowly, and quietly, whispered back into his mind.
