Finished [Norroburry Village] High Altitude Kittens

This RP is part of the Isekai Hell setting. It is currently open to be joined, so let me known if you have interest. I intend to keep the group small (maximum of three players, so two more slots), so it's first-come-first-serve.

What to expect out of character:
Round duration will be lenient, lasting anywhere from daily to a maximum of once a week, depending on what pace is possible to be kept by the parties involved. The total duration is intended to be between a month and two months, depending mostly on the pace of the RP.

The RP will be mostly slife-of-life with hopefully some comedic moments. The focus of the RP will be on character interactions and on creatively dealing with simple challenges. The focus of the RP will be looking around the village of Norroburry to find some missing kittens upon request by the Adventurer's Guild.

What to expect in character:
A request has come from a certain Catherin Felinus, a retired noblewoman who took a vacation to the quiet and quaint mountain village of Norroburry with her 101 cats. Sadly enough, it seems that a couple of her adorable meowing fluffs decided to venture out into the unknown and haven't returned yet. What brave heroes will come look for these missing cats? The adventurer's guild can at least confirm she's put up a fine reward for any such noble souls.

When joining, please let me know the following things in your first post:
1 ) Any specific achievements/goals your character would have within the overall goal of the RP, such as trying to increase standing with a certain faction or obtaining a certain item/asset. So long as it doesn't diverge too much, I'll see what I can do to include it.
2 ) Any point boosters the character might have. (Attentive Student, Mentor, Devour, Narrative Booster, etc.).
3 ) Any [Wanted] or criminal titles your character might have. (Note, some city or guild-related settings will make entry for criminals considerably more difficult and would need discussion pre-joining.)
4 ) Any Buddy Skills, Masterwork Skills or Complex Assets your character might have.

The gnome was rather nervous upon arriving at the edge of the village. The large boarding house stood out from a distance. Probably the biggest house she'd ever seen in her life. Though these were also the tallest mountains she'd seen in her life. As well as the coldest temperatures she'd felt in her life. Also the highest altitude she'd been in her life, except for when Asuka flew her places. That said, she was nervous. Very, very nervous.

“{Spirit King, to thee I pray, let those I meet be nice today.}” She mumbled. “{Spirit King, to thee I pray, let those I meet be nice today.}” She repeated her prayer/chant. “{Spirit King, to thee I pray, let those I meet be nice today.}”

It seemed odd to see such a small creature out on her own at the edge of the village. Yet she was on a very important mission. Asuka and Tahmuras had decided that she needed to grow more independent and that she couldn't let the fears from what happened in those Goblin Caves dedicate her life. So they'd sent her on a solo-mission, one to find missing kittens. It seemed harmless, but being alone in a strange place was still rather scary.

That said, she did hear that the Adventurer's Guild might bring in at least one more person, whom she was now waiting for. That latter being the reason of her current prayers. “{Spirit King, to thee I pray, let those I meet be nice today.}” She continued. After all, there were many different people out there. Some nice, some big, some scary... “{Spirit King, to thee I pray, let those I meet be nice today.}” She just hoped that whomever would appear, would be nice. That would be... nice. Yeah.

The lack of proper work in the Adventurer's Guild gnawed at the black knight, an irritation that festered beneath his darkened plate. Where was the chance to spill blood? To rend flesh from bone? To watch his foes writhe and scream as their last breath slipped from their lips? His recent venture to that ruined village had left him unsatisfied, barely tasting the thrill of battle as he delivered a swift, final strike to a ghostly apparition. Hah! What fun was there in dispatching those who were already among the dead, who lacked the warmth of blood and the fragility of flesh?

With these dark thoughts churning within him, a seething maelstrom of violence and impatience, the baronet stood tall in the guild hall, his presence casting a shadow even where there was no light. His pitch-black armor, adorned with jagged edges and dulled crimson inlays, exuded an oppressive aura, thick and suffocating. The air around him seemed to grow colder, few daring to meet his gaze for long.

He moved with a slow, deliberate gait, each step of his sabatons echoing through the room like the tolling of a bell. His abyss-like eyeholes, hidden within the depths of his helmet, scanned the notice board, prowling over each slip of paper with a barely restrained frustration. He sought a challenge, a proper outlet for the hunger that gnawed at his insides. Yet, the more he looked, the more he grumbled, a low, rumbling growl that reverberated through the small slits of his helmet like the distant roll of thunder.

Then, his gaze settled on something that made him pause. A request—trivial, laughable even—but curious enough to hold his attention: to find a missing cat. A task that, under any other circumstances, would have been ignored, dismissed as menial and unworthy. Yet now, it was as if the absurdity of it had caught him in a rare moment of dark amusement. A gauntleted hand darted out, the fingers, sharpened like talons, scraping against the board as he tore the slip free with a swift, almost predatory swipe. The paper crumpled slightly under the force of his grip, as if it were a fragile thing in danger of being crushed.

As he read it, he learned that another had already undertaken the same request. Another fool in search of the feline. His lips, hidden behind the cold, unyielding steel of his helm, curled into a grin that no one could see. "Interesting…" he murmured, his words slipping out in a whispering hiss, like the slow leak of steam from a broken pipe. Without another word, he strode out of the guild, the crowd parting around him like water around a jagged rock.

Outside, his warhorse awaited, a beast as dark and imposing as its master. Its black coat gleamed like polished onyx, and its eyes, red and unfathomable, glowed faintly beneath the shadow of its mane. With a swift, fluid motion, Edwin mounted the steed, his crimson cape billowing for a moment like the unfurling of a bird's wing before settling around him. He urged the beast forward, and with a sharp jab of his sabatons, the destrier broke into a full gallop, its hooves striking the ground like the beat of a war drum.

The village of Norroburry lay some distance away, nestled among rolling fields and scattered woods. As Edwin approached, the world around him seemed to blur, the rushing wind howling past his helmet, a cold, biting gale that stung even through the gaps in his armor. The pounding of hooves echoed around him, merging with the sound of distant, unseen crows cawing somewhere in the fields, as if heralding his approach.

The dark knight drove the animal hard, his body leaning forward as if urging it to move faster, faster still, until Norroburry emerged on the horizon. The village seemed like a quaint place, untouched by the turmoil that Edwin usually sought. It looked peaceful, serene—almost mocking in its tranquility.

As he neared the village, Edwin finally slowed the destrier, bringing the beast to a steady trot. He noticed a small figure standing at the edge of the settlement, barely two feet tall. She was a tiny, humanoid-looking girl, her form slight and delicate, with skin that gleamed pale in the light and hair that flowed like long, azure threads.

Edwin guided his warhorse toward her, the creature’s hooves crunching softly against the gravel. There was an eerie grace in the way the beast moved, its black mane flowing like a dark tide, its head held high, almost regal. The knight’s armor gleamed under the sunlight, obsidian and foreboding.

“You…” Edwin began, his voice a low, rumbling growl that seemed to echo within the hollow depths of his armor. The void-like eyeholes of his helmet fixed on her, a gaze that felt cold and piercing, as if it could see straight through her. A gauntleted, pointy index finger extended toward her, the sharp tip hovering in the air like a poised blade. “... Are you here for the missing cat as well?”

He leaned forward, his dark silhouette looming over her, his presence swallowing the space around them, as if he were a storm cloud blotting out the sun. His voice dropped to a dangerous whisper, each word laced with a subtle, mocking tone. “Tell me, do you find it amusing? This little game of hide and seek?”

Edwin's grip tightened on the reins, his eyes narrowing behind his helm. The thought of sharing this task with another was irksome, yet the thought of seeing how she would fare, how she might squirm or stumble under his watchful eye, was enticing. The dark knight straightened, his imposing frame casting a long, dark shadow over the tiny figure below, a shadow that seemed to stretch and twist with the last light of day.

“{Spirit King, to thee I pray, let those I meet be...}” She'd almost finished her chant when she noticed something in the distance. Some person came riding in on a horse, but even form a distance, he looked rather odd.

As he would closer, her legs started to tremble a little. Was this really a person she was meant to work with? Probably not. It couldn't be. He'd just move past her. Trying to be brave, she stood her ground, hoping he'd just move along. Yet he didn't.

“M-me?” She asked, terrified when such a scary person suddenly addressed her. The horse being big enough to stomp her to death with one hoof didn't help her nerves calm down either. “The cats.. ye.. yes.. sir..” She stammered. Really? Was such a scary person going to help her find the cats? Now way? Right?

However, his next words made her panic. He sounded waaaay to scary. That was the type of stuff that... that goblin said... just before he'd took her finger and toe. She grabbed her hand, where the finger had been healed back. Her legs stopped trembling, as now they were sprinting. She was running for dear life in the direction of the village. “Heeelp!” She called out at the top of her lungs. Clearly terrified by that last remark. Perhaps thinking he was a monster or criminal. “Heeeelp! It's a monster! Heeelp!”

Two things of note? She was neither fast, nor loud. It'd probably take her a while to reach the village proper and alert anyone in it. That said, she was absolutely terrified. Running as fast as her little legs could carry her away from this overwhelmingly terrifying presence of the dark Edgelord on his warhorse.

Ul had been busy for quite a while planning out her goals and researching what she could with the public resources she could in order to better strategize her course of action within this world. Though, after a while, her studies would end up subconsciously pointing her to a quaint little location by the name of Norroburry. Whilst she was also interested in scouting out locational prospects to better her reputation or even look for potential construction locations for her own land, it had come to her attention that the town held some significance within the mining industry and the exporting of said resources. It would make it an interesting location in order to look some time into, alongside the fact that Ul considered it as a possible location to find a given source of Earth magic. If she could find a natural mana source befitting, or a magic object with the affinity, it would help in harnessing all of the magic types she could although any new magic would do.

The elf had sent communication out to Viole, in hopes that her newfound servant would manage to answer the summons and meet her on her trip, quietly humming to herself as she took peace in riding her offroad-prepared bike on the countryside's beautiful offroad where she could be away from eyes and ears during her way there.

"Well I wouldn't have minded it taking longer to get here, but I'm here now. This looks at least way more inviting than everywhere else I've been so far. Wonder if Viole's gonna get here just fine, whatever they've been up to that is... " the elf mumbled to herself once she'd notice the sight of the town in view, supposing she should head to the nearest road for the last bit of her trip to actually arrive like a normal individual.

Up until when she was drawing closer, she heard a sound of... well, it sounded like a distant kitten more than anything, she could barely hear it over the sound of her bike. Approaching the road however from the offroad, she'd soon enough notice the sight of one edgy horseman and a little girl.

"That's a dodgy one, and something I'd have a ton of questions for. Didn't know child-kidnapping was a thing around here... " Ul mumbled, supposing someone should probably step in. She didn't entirely want to bother with such distractions, but it was probably immoral to just leave the scene. Eventually reaching the road with her bike and hitting to a stop, she'd look between the two.
"Okay, not really sure what it is that I'm interrupting exactly, but it doesn't entirely look like the most... normal situation, so I'm gonna have to ask you to leave the little girl alone... it probably won't look good on your portfolio to be an experienced alone-kid chaser... " she answered, eyeing the edgelord's armour for a moment.

"How do you even go to the bathroom like that? Are you wearing a diaper in there or something?".

Edwin's mirth grew as he watched the tiny girl scamper away, her stuttering words barely formed before she fled in a flurry of tiny, hurried steps. Her fear was a palpable, intoxicating presence, and it amused him greatly. The way she trembled, the way her voice quivered — all of it fed his sadistic delight. It was almost a pity that she would take an eternity to reach the village at her pace.

He allowed her a head start, savoring the moment, before nudging his warhorse forward with a lazy prod of his sabatons. The massive beast caught up to the tiny girl effortlessly, its hooves thudding softly against the earth, a stark contrast to the dread looming over her. Leaning down from his imposing height, Edwin's helmeted visage tilted toward her, the dark, hollow eye slits absorbing every flicker of her terror. "Well now, calling someone a monster isn't too polite, tiny one. If I were one, we wouldn't be talking still," he chided, his voice a low rumble, dripping with dark amusement. “Now… to search for the cats…”

But then, his attention was diverted by the arrival of an interloper — a woman riding a strange, metal contraption that he had never seen before, a machine that mimicked the gait of a horse but moved with an unnatural, mechanical whirr. As she approached, Edwin’s posture stiffened, his grip around his three-pronged lance tightening until the gauntlet's metal creaked, echoing his irritation. He turned, letting his gaze fall upon her, the shadows within his helmet's eyeholes deepening as he spoke.

"You admit being ignorant of what is happening, yet choose to make assumptions and meddle in a stranger’s business?" His tone was cutting, each word dragged out with a venomous patience. "Were we in my domain, I would either have your back flogged until no skin remained or pluck off your tongue for your insolent remarks of calling me a 'kid chaser.'" His words slithered through the slits of his helmet, harsh and heavy, like the clang of a dungeon’s iron door closing.

"But let me correct your ignorance: my presence here pertains to finding out the missing cat. It can't fall on me if my visage was just too much for the little one to handle. Power does have that effect on some..." And, as she prattled on, the absurdity of her question made him pause, and then his lips curled into a cruel, unseen smirk. "Do you want to know how I go to the bathroom in my armor?" He repeated, his voice laced with mockery, before continuing with a cruel, lewd jest. "Well, I remove the codpiece and then call for your mother. She always seems rather eager to have my girthy endowment clasped in her hands, while I go about my business."

The words slipped out with a dark, twisted glee, a chuckle following soon after, resonating like a low growl. Beneath the helmet, a sinister grin spread across his lips, unseen but possibly felt. If the request to find a missing cat had been dull, then at least these encounters promised some form of grim entertainment, even if not the bloodshed he truly craved.

Upon receiving the message from his ladyship, Viole turned on his heel and began to walk in the requested direction. If all went well, he should arrive just after Ul. He was aware that he faced a rather uneven road ahead and a considerable walking distance, but being a construct, he felt no discomfort or leg pain from long travels. His mechanical form allowed him a unique advantage, and he embraced it as he traversed the path.

Eventually, after what felt like a journey through both time and space, Viole arrived at the designated area. In the not-so-distant view, he spotted his ladyship Ul Dyril, accompanied by two unfamiliar figures. With a gracious demeanor, he approached them. As he neared, he bowed slightly to the two unknown faces, a gesture of respect and courtesy, and greeted them warmly.
"Hello to you two, my name is Viole. Am I safe to assume you don't mind me being here with you?" he inquired, his voice calm yet curious.

After introducing himself, he straightened up and turned his attention to Lady Ul Dyril. Not wanting to cause a commotion with the age-old tradition of kissing the back of her hand, he opted for a more modern approach. He nodded with a small, welcoming smile, addressing her gently, “And welcome to you, Lady Ul. It has been quite some time since we’ve seen each other face to face, even though we often exchange messages. Is this company alright with you?”
Viole’s words carried a hint of concern. He could not read the atmosphere fully since there was no room to analyze, and yet, he could feel that something was amiss within this group. The air was thick with unspoken tension, and although he was just a construct, he was aware of the subtleties that often eluded others. His instincts urged him to tread carefully as he awaited Lady Ul's response, hoping to unravel the mystery surrounding this gathering.

The gnome's heartbeat increased exponentially when the massive horse caught up to her with ease. “{Asuka!!!}” She called. “{Tahmuras!}” She called again. “Someone!” She tried. But alas, there was nobody around to hear her.

She had to stop to avoid being trampled upon by the warhorse. “You're... really... really not a monster?” She asked, still scared and highly sceptical. “Then... then... then why are you so super scary?” She asked, not managing to make a connection. She didn't even want to know why he'd want to find the cats. Would he eat them? Probably.

That's when someone came to her rescue. She was very quick to hide behind Ul and grasp onto her for dear life, still worried the horseman might just be lying and would take her away. “I was here to look for cats... but I think... I think the mister might be bad...” She tried explain herself.

The dirt bike was kind-off intimidating. “Why... what's this... metal thing?” She'd ask, wondering if it'd be dangerous. That said, between the woman in green and the edgelord, she'd made a quick decision whom she'd grasp onto for aid. Some things said confused her. Weren't diapers for babies? That said, she was too scared to speak up on it.

The words Edgewin said made her even more scared. Back flogging. Tongue plucking... that sounded like the things the goblin had done to her. Cutting off her finger and toe. Her eyes teared up a little. “I-I-I... just wanted to be more brave and go on a mission alone and... and... find cats.. and..” She'd stammer.

Something confused her. “Does... he know your family?” If Edgwin knew Ul's mother, did that mean the lady in green and scary knight might know each-other? That was weird, as they were rather different.

The next arrival seemed a bit off. Something unnatural, perhaps. He sounded nice, however, she thought. “I'm Amice.. Amice Bellamy.” She stated, recalling to introduce herself. “Is... is your face alright? Does.. doesn't it hurt like that?” She asked, a bit concerned, as it seemed like it was frozen or something.

The edgelord seemed to have using overly stereotypical medieval ways of saying everything that he did, picking up on the mention of her intruding even though not understanding the situation, though the fact that the scared girl had hid behind the elf from said dark pursuer, she could only suppose one was likely lying.
"Yyyeeeeaaaahhhh... I don't think your case seems very... defendable, as it is right now. Running around in full dark armour on a large, dark mount, talking like a stereotype universe with an obsessive following based on some sort of patriotism or valor and honor or whatever. Honestly I would've expected you to try to sound or say something actually intimidating, it just makes you sound rather laughable" Ul would answer, hearing Amice's questions about her bike. She  could say it was a special stag again, but didn't decide it was worth the effort lying to a child.

"It's a special bike of mine, I use it to get around everywhere. Simpler, sleeker, and a whole lot less troublesome than a big mount like that" she answered, gesturing to said Edwin's mount.
"Really, you gotta feed that, and then wash it, and clean up its poopin' and all that. What a noble and intimidating responsibility when I could just, go from point A to B and not do that. Wowwww" Ul would sarcastically describe, only wondering where or what Edwin even did with his horse when he wasn't using it. To find a place to keep it or make sure it was cared for felt like an embarrassing hassle for such a knight.

Though, getting a Your Mom joke from Edwin was the least of her expectations. She only wondered if he was just some nerd under all the armour trying to seem really cool. That'd explain him riding around as he was, just as an attempt for desperate attention.
"Ah, that'd make sense. On some cases, elves of my kind are rather practical with all manners of their life, and using a smaller and easier tool for their business makes quick work. I'm sure if you could provide her with a joy-rod small and cute enough, and could get the job of your own pleasure only taking a manner of... say, your limit being like five seconds, then sure I don't see why it's out of the realm of possibility. You should probably get yourself checked though, Nyrael sorcery combines life and death magic to give diseases and inflictions to people that get One-N'-Doned and don't wanna be seen again. You know, just in case it's one of those Shrivelling and Falling Off inflictions" Ul would simply smile with a light nod of her head, she might as well entertain the man if he was looking to be so needlessly rude. On Amice asking if they knew eachother, she'd look to the small one.

"You're too young to understand, but we don't know eachother. He's just rather shy and self-conscious is all, I only suppose he hides under all that scariness so people don't realise he's scared" the elf answered, noticing and finding themself soon enough joined by Viole. Giving a small wave to them, Ul answered.

"Ah, Viole, you made it. I hope wherever you've been or your trip here wasn't too troublesome, after all... some of this company is okay. Others... questionable" Ul would begin, smugly eyeing Edwin.
"As such a lady who should uphold such nobility and respect, I care for the condition and troubles for any of those in my service. I am pleased you have come to meet me here today, for a lady does need her assistance when she has important business and errands" Ul would smile and answer in an overly proper tone than how she usually spoke, she might as well try to put Edwin in her shadow if he was to be so rude. Though even though Ul had other things to check out in Norroburry, she didn't trust leaving Amice on her own.

"My name is Lady Ul Dyril of Kingdom Nyrael, and this is my humble and helpful servant, Viole. I'm visiting here on important personal matters, but I am willing to assist seeing as... " Ul would speak, clearly looking at Edwin once more.
"You'll possibly have trouble. Viole, I grant you permission to take this young girl under your care and watchful eye for the moment untik we assist her with what she needs to do, or return her home to her parents. What is your name, young lady?" she'd ask of Amice, not really caring whatever edgelord wanted to be called. Probably something overly edgy, with a lot of x's at the start and end like it was the 2010's on Earth. Edwin really had that vibe that he would be a Modern Warfare 2 player on Xbox Live.

Edwin’s deep, amused hum reverberated through his helmet, a subtle, mocking melody as he observed the tiny girl cease her retreat. He found it curious — had she discovered a sudden burst of courage, realized the futility of running, or merely resigned herself to his presence? Her wide-eyed fear remained palpable, even as she stood her ground, and it fed his sadistic pleasure. The girl's hesitant question, asking why he was 'super scary,' echoed back to him, and he savored it, repeating it slowly, letting the words roll off his tongue. "Why am I super scary?" His tone dripped with dark amusement, each syllable resonating like a sinister, almost musical taunt. "It gives me an edge in the battlefield."

Beneath the helmet, unseen by all, his lips twisted into a smirk. Fear was a weapon, and he wielded it with relish. If the sight of him sent shivers down spines and caused hearts to skip, then it was simply perfect — a testament to his power. "Becoming braver than you are is your goal in this search then?" he rumbled, directing his deep, rumbling voice toward the little girl. The amusement was clear in his tone, like a predator toying with its prey. She was a tiny, insignificant creature, yet he couldn’t deny that she had a flicker of heart within her, a defiance trying to shine past her terror. It intrigued him, if only a little. "Then you are in luck. I doubt that looking for a cat would ever help you in that regard."

Edwin’s gauntleted hand moved, extending outward as he raised a single, clawed finger, pointing directly at her. The gesture was slow, deliberate, as if marking her with an invisible weight. He paused, letting the silence stretch, the abyssal gaze of his helmet bearing down on her as she seemed to try and hide beneath the guise of the fool on the mechanical horse. “Withstand my presence today and don’t freeze. You shall become braver than you were yesterday.” There was a cruel curiosity behind his words. Would she manage to endure his aura of dread, or would she crumble under it? Watching her try, succeed, or fail would be a welcome distraction, at least for now.

But before he could entertain himself further, another figure joined their little assembly — an odd one, at that. Pale, doll-like features, ivory hair, and dressed in attire reminiscent of a servant. The newcomer's entrance was graceful, respectful even, bowing as he introduced himself. It was a display that stroked Edwin's vanity, a touch of formality that he found… satisfactory. He listened as names were exchanged, learning that the tiny girl was called Amice, and the pale one was named Viole. "I'm Baronet Edwin Stormcrest," he declared, granting them the 'honor' of knowing his name. "Your presence here is not unwanted."

He noted how Viole and the fool on the metallic steed, now identified as 'Lady Ul,' seemed to have some history, and that drew his interest slightly. Edwin’s lips curled into a cold smile beneath his helmet. When Ul attempted to poke at him with strange, banal remarks about his warhorse, he let her prattle on, watching her with a mixture of amusement and mild disdain. Her attempts to belittle him seemed feeble, a child’s jab against a mountain. But when she tried to twist his earlier, lewd jest into a counter-remark, it was laughable. Edwin’s chest shook with a loud, rumbling chuckle that echoed from within his helmet.

"She still enjoyed every second of it," he continued, his voice dripping with cruel humor. "Said it had been the biggest one she ever held. But no need to think too much about my endowment like that, others might think you are yearning for it." The sinister grin remained, hidden yet felt, as his tongue flicked out briefly to wet his lips. He could almost taste the discomfort and irritation his words could have elicited, and he relished it.

Then, Amice’s misunderstanding that he and Ul might be acquainted drew a sneer from him. “Hah! As if I would have ever allowed myself the displeasure of knowing someone like her,” he replied, his disdain clear.

As the banter subsided, Edwin’s gaze drifted past them, focusing on the distant outline of the village. The girl, Ul, had continued her incessant chatter, boasting or perhaps trying to prove herself. Most of it he tuned out, only catching fragments, but there was something she said that caught his attention. He shifted on his saddle, the metal of his armor creaking as he turned to regard Viole and Ul once more. "A lady and her man-servant then? Makes sense," he mused aloud, his voice a deep, mocking rumble. The dark, hollow eyes of his helmet flicked between them, studying them as if considering a new toy.

It was a pity, really, that this request promised no possible danger or real challenge. Edwin was eager to see what kind of sounds this 'Lady Ul' might make when pushed to her limits — screams, perhaps, or pleas. Either would be delightful to hear. But alas, it seemed this search would remain a dull affair. Nevertheless, he would find his amusement where he could, specially if it was at the expense of those around him.

Viole exclaimed to his ladyship Ul Dyril, her being worried for this humble servant of hers made Viole even more so certain that she was his ladyship, even if the body was new the soul was the same. Shortly after Ul smugly eyed Edwin Viole added a few words of his own.
"Of course my lady, I wouldn't dare call myself a servant of yours if I wasn't at your service. After all such a person is nothing more than a leech or a wastrel."

At his ladyships command, Viole simply nodded, having said that he wished to converse with the young lady, especially after she mustered the courage to speak up in this situation.
"Hello young Amice." Viole reciprocated her greeting with one of his own, though her question did stump him a bit, he was sure he worked on fixing the emotional display actuators in his face. But it would be seen in a bad light if he wouldn't reply, so he said. "It doesn't hurt young Amice, it's just I can't express emotions with my face after a certain accident that easily. Though there were some times when I could which means I am slowly recovering. So thank you for your worry."
Having said that, unbeknownst to Viole himself a small sincere smile formed on his face while he was expressing the whole situation to Amice.

"A displeasure, a man-servant, berating the mother of my ladyship. I did not know the nobles were so cocky these days. Back then nobles were paragons of good, not people who wanted to cause commotion or sow discord, and especially they weren't ones who wanted to be feared by all... Maybe except bandits and hostile territories. But even then in all my years, within all of my memories, I don't remember any person worse than you. Which is something since I carry within myself memories from my previous lord, totaling the years in my memory to a nice round hundred." Viole exclaimed with a stone-cold expressionless look on his face, his words weren't exactly true, but neither were they lies, just because he couldn't access his abyss memory storage, thus not being able to access the memories implanted into him by his previous lord, but they were still there, so it wasn't that much of a lie.

“A special... bye-k?” That was totally new to her. “Its {shininess} is pretty.” She stated, not knowing the correct Common word. “Is it angry when you use it? Is that why it.. {growls?} Ehm... makes angry noises?” She asked, probably talking about the bike's engine making rumbling sounds.

Amice was learning all the wrong words and sentences from this conversation. “Joy-rod?” She asked. Then counted to five. That wasn't long. All in all, it was very confusing. Luckily enough, Ul seemed to admit to it as well. “He is scared..?” She asked, still hiding behind Ul, carefully peaking past her. It certainly didn't look like it.

“Ehm... are you... ehmm... Fancy?” She asked, upon hearing how Ul talked about some things. “Like a {Cardinal} or {Deacon?}” She asked, mostly as those were also the mayors, barons and counts in the See. The next bit, the introduction, was confusing. “Where is that kingdom? Is it the one where the monsters come to in winter?” She asked, probably talking about the Kingdom of Rotia.

She'd already introduced herself, but since Ul asked, she'd go again. “I am Amice Bellamy, I am ten and six years old, I am a gnome.” She listed off the three standard sentences she normally listed off. “I don't have parents.” She added, as she wondered why she'd need returning to something she didn't have.

Oddly enough, Edgewin actually said something Amice could understand. “Oh, I see, mister.” She'd nod. Being super scary did seem to be useful when fighting. “Ehm... thanks, mister.” She stated, glad that he had explained as much. Even though he was still scary.

“Right!” She'd nod, still clasping her formerly missing finger. So this scary man said she'd not need to be scared of him to be more brave. That seemed... logical. Yes. She'd nod to herself. “Although, why would I freeze, do you know {Ice} ehmmm... cold-make magic?” That bit confused her.

It wasn't the only bit that confused her. “What is a... baronet?” That was another new word.

She'd look back and forth between Edwin and Ul. They did not seem to be friendly. Then again, she also was still a bit scared of Edwin, so it made sense.

More questions arose. She looked at Viole. A man-servant? He was a man? “Are you a man? You look really pretty though...” She asked, not entirely sure how that worked.

“Oh, I'm glad your face doesn't hurt.” She replied, genuinely sounding happy for him. “I hope your face will do {emotions} ehm... e-mo-ti-ons again soon!”

She kept looking back and forth between the three, then took out a scrap of paper. “Ehm... ehhhh... eehhh...” She was a tad scared to just ask this, but she was supposed to be brave. “I think this is where the lady lives that wants us to find her cats, so should we go find it?” She asked, showing an address. “It didn't say how many cats were missing... or where they went.” She stated, talking about the original quest at the adventurer's guild.

Ul had no idea what the Edgelord's problem was, it feels like he should be trying to be more careful of his own self-image when he was the one caught chasing little girls around who clearly weren't having fun being chased. She had ignored his pointless mocking for a moment to give a light bow of her head to Viole's greeting, a bit surprised Viole had went out of their way to gether silk to craft her a gift.
"Well, that's unexpected but quite a nice surprise nonetheless. I'm quite pleased and impressed by your independence and skill repertoi- " Ul began complimenting with a soft smile, before her expression broke a little albeit still holding her smile. She had come to a potential realisation of what this might have meant, looking to Viole.
"Viole, you wouldn't have happened to have spent money on acquiring these materials, would you? If so, where did you source that money from?" the elf questioned, that money could have gone to a much better cause than a dress. But the real worrisome problem was if Viole was sourcing it from some sort of family wealth that she shouldn't have access to in the first place, it'd probably attract unnecessary future trouble if such a thing to arise. Glad that Viole's capabilities were improving however, she was glad to have the servant at her service.
"That's good to hear, keep up the self-improvement and talented work, it can come in significant use in the future even if the purpose isn't currently obvious" she would add on, though hopefully expecting an answer for the silk acquisition method. She hadn't the time to put intense research into Viole's and her apparently self's origins, and had a lot on her mind to do so.

"Bike. B-I-K-E, one syllable. It... can't be angry, it's not alive... well, it kind of works like it's awake and asleep but it's not an animal or something. It makes that sound because it's powered by an engine, and that's powered by combustion of- well, in a way, it's like little magical fires and little explosions inside that make it work. Like... magic, it's easier to not question it. That sound just means that it's working" Ul answered to the best of her capabilities, not entirely looking to spend a lengthy amount of time trying to explain something to a kid and having her explanation only generate even more questions. Especially since Amice seemed to already be doing it. Back to the matter of the horribly rude horserider...

"Quite so, my dear Viole. Why, someone like that should be reported to the authorities. Such rude disrespect, and harassing underage girls? Lets make sure to do that after the fact. For now, we should probably stay with you to make sure the dodgy weirdo doesn't get any ideas, or try to torment you further. As far as I can tell, he's only rambling such insulting nonsense for the sake of his pride and ego. Clearly, his own family didn't love him at all, so he gets enjoyment of belittling others for he could not make any other friends. Such a sad, sad, pitiful 'man'. Hopefully, there's hope for lost souls like his, but alas it may take a significant miracle" Ul sighed and shrugged, supposing this would be the thing they'd be doing for now. What was that guy's problem? Usually she hadn't ever encountered someone so deprived with nothing better to do.

Edwin’s eyes gleamed with a dark, sinister amusement as he observed Amice, the tiny gnome girl, trying to keep up with the exchange of words. Her inquisitiveness, her need to ask for clarification, it all revealed her ignorance and naivety, which only entertained him further. "Hah! When I say you shouldn't freeze in my presence to become braver, it means you must not lose your capability to act due to fear and terror, nor run away." He allowed the words to hang in the air, his voice carrying an implicit challenge, daring her to grasp the weight of it.

He watched her for a moment, relishing the uncertainty flickering in her eyes, before continuing, his tone taunting and condescending. "Do you think you can manage that?" The question was a barbed one, meant to pierce through whatever resolve she thought she had. She was but a tiny, insignificant creature, and yet, he wanted to see if she would crumble or cling to the scraps of courage she had left. "As for what is a baronet..." His hand moved, deliberate and slow, the armored, clawed index finger pointing to the embossed skull on his obsidian chest plate. The metal gleamed ominously in the light, a stark symbol of his dark authority. "... it is a title reserved for the higher class and birth." He let the implication settle, a reminder of the divide between their statuses, a chasm that she would likely never cross.

But then, Viole’s next words shattered whatever minuscule goodwill he had garnered earlier. The baronet’s expression beneath his helmet twisted into a sneer, disdain flooding through him as he listened to the servant’s insolent remarks. "So, I'm the worst person you have met up until now? Well, consider me flattered." There was a mocking, almost theatrical emphasis to his words, each one dripping with contempt. "Not that I care that much about the opinions of a domestic at any rate." His gaze sharpened, locking onto Viole's eyes, the abyssal eyeholes of his helmet boring into the servant's with cold, unyielding disdain. The baronet had little tolerance for insolence, and even less for those who dared to speak out of turn.

"Might find it wise to hold your tongue when talking about 'nobles being cocky,'" he continued, his tone a dangerous, low growl. "Wouldn't want the local lord to hear you." A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips, hidden beneath the horned helmet, as he imagined Viole's impudence being punished. It was rare to find such overt disrespect in the presence of nobility, and Edwin wondered if this servant was foolish or simply ignorant of the consequences. Either way, it was something he could toy with.

He glanced briefly at Ul, as if she were a mere afterthought. "By all means, go ahead and try to report me to the nearest guard you find, but don't be surprised if you were commanded to take a knee while issuing an apology." His voice carried a sneer, the derision clear. He had no time for those who thought they could challenge or criticize him without facing repercussions. Ul would learn, eventually, how things truly worked — whether through her own efforts or by force.

Despite his clear disdain for the duo, the corrupted knight's attention eventually shifted back to Amice, finding her to be the most useful of the lot at the moment. She was the one who had the address, the key to the next step in this otherwise tedious quest. The mention of an unknown number of cats caused his brow to arch slightly beneath his helmet, but it did not concern him enough to press further. "So, the number of cats is still unknown... well, no matter." It was an inconsequential detail; he would adapt as the situation required.

With a swift, practiced motion, Edwin flicked his three-pronged lance, the metal glinting in the light as he pointed and extended the blunt end toward Amice. The gesture was almost casual, but there was a deliberate weight behind it. "Grab on to it." The words came out in a tone that could be interpreted as either a command or an invitation, but there was no mistaking the challenge embedded within them. This was her first true test of bravery — a chance to see if she would dare to step forward and take hold of the weapon, or if she would shrink back, as he suspected she might.

The dark, abyssal eyeholes of his helmet focused on her, unblinking, as if trying to peer directly into her soul. Would she have the courage to take his offer, to willingly place herself closer to the source of her fear? Or would she fail, and prove herself no better than the weak, cowardly beings he so often scorned? Either way, the outcome would amuse him, and he waited, savoring the anticipation of her reaction.

Viole looked and listened to Amice's words, along with the others. He tried to read the room as some say but it was hard for a living doll to do, especially since most of what he felt could be jolted down to malice coming from Edwin. He really disliked being in the presence of such a man, but sadly he had to be within his presence for now. With a partial question and a compliment, Viole responded kindly as it should be done with a youngling of any race, not with malice as the brute of a man did.
"Yes dear I'm a man, and thank you for your compliment, but I was 'born' androgynous, meaning I look like neither a man nor a woman."
A tiny smile grew on Viole's face as Amice sounded and looked genuinely happy about his situation, one could say a cheerful soul brought light to a dark constructs soul.
"I hope so as well Amice. I hope so as well."

"Thank you my lady but no, I did not acquire the silk in such a way. I helped a Drider village with their pest problem and acquire some of their silk in exchange, as for the actual use of the silk I wished to acquire your opinion on what clothing do you want made from it, or something else."

Viole shook his head in opposition but explained himself nevertheless, he did not have access to the family's vault so no money from there could be acquired, and even with his personal money he probably couldn't afford Drider silk, since most of it went into repairing his body, so he can server his milady in better ways and with greater efficiency. But if she ever wished for monetary gain he would be more than glad to part with his money, or even go with her to the family's vault. Though it will be hard to reach and unlock considering it is deep within the ground near Widersia's borders.
"Self-improvement is my second name technically my lady. After all not improving oneself means stagnation, and stagnation means fall, and we all know how it ends."
Viole added after hearing a compliment from his ladyship, even though Viole is a construct he was still a man, so hearing two compliments in a single day when most men don't hear any compliments at any time felt both weird and grateful for it.

"As we should, do you want to go with us, or do you 'regrettably' want to go with the scary man?"
Viole replied to Amice's words, as he could clearly see she lacked courage, so putting her in the role of the leader should be something that will lead to gaining such courage, by virtue of having to lead people. With two people here to follow her, and that duche of a man, with a soul as black as tar, it will lead to her growth whether she wants to or not.
"As for the other information, we probably will learn once we arrive there."
He added based on the small amount of knowledge gained from his few visits to the adventurer's guild.

“Beyk?” The word remained difficult to pronounce to her. “Ex-plo-si-ons?” She looked at the bike and was wondering just what was going on in there. “Is it like a {Construct}?” She asked. “Does it have a {soul} trapped inside?” She asked, blissfully unaware Viole was the actual construct there.

The scary man remained just that. “Okay...” She asked, having no clue how any of what he described had anything to do with freezing. He was likely just being mean and rude again. That must be it. “You were born high..? Like on a mountain, or one of those sky islands?” She asked, surprised that those weren't called sky people, but baronets instead.

When Edgewin showed her his lance and told her to grab it, she was confused for a bit. Yet, well, she quickly realised what this was. She resolutely shook her head. “Asuka and Tahmuras told me it's really, really, extremely bad to touch a strange man's things.” If this was a test of bravery, she was surely showing it in one way. “I don't think you should be trying to get me to do that, mister.” She even dared add. Granted, part of it was due to her relying on Viole and Ul to protect her, but still.

“You were born... and... andro...?” That was one of the most difficult words in Common she'd heard in like, forever. At least she didn't have to ask about the meaning, as he explained it himself. “Are all men that are really pretty andro... that thing?” She'd ask instead.

“Well, the strange man wanted me to touch his weapon-thing, so I'd rather go with you.” She'd say. Clearly it wasn't safe with him, if he asked her to do things that Asuka and Tahmuras told her she should never do.

As the group would presumably move closer to the house in question, they would see it from a distance. It was a big house, yet looking through the windows. There were CATS, enough of them for the word to be said in all capitals and and in bold. So many, many cats. It was as if there were at least three behind every possible window. Not just that, however...

“Look! There's a cat outside!” Amice called out, spotting a cat walking off from the building. A pitch-black cat walking with the feline grace and self-assurance that only cats could muster. Its tail raised high as it casually walked way from the building. Did they already find one of the lady's escapees this early on? Perhaps...

The tiny girl’s confusion was almost endearing in its naivety, her attempt to grasp the concept of 'higher class' turning it into something as literal as physical height, like a mountain towering over the land. For a moment, Edwin found a strange amusement in her innocent misinterpretation, and curiously, her ignorance did not fray his patience as much as the insolence from the other two. Leaning forward slightly, his armored form casting an imposing shadow over her, he decided to indulge her question.

"Higher, as in superior," he began, his voice rumbling like distant thunder, laced with a condescending edge. "Better, more valuable, elevated above the common filth that scurries at our feet. I speak not of height, but of stature. In contrast with peasants and commoners, who are nothing more than rabble, mere specks in the grand design of power and nobility."

He let the words hang in the air, savoring while he watched if his explanation would be understood by her. There was a peculiar satisfaction in watching the tiny gears turn within her mind, as it tried to make sense of a few words she was told.

Edwin's dark gaze lingered on Amice as she hesitated, failing the simple test he'd set before her. She hadn’t reached out for his lance, hadn’t taken the opportunity to be lifted atop his warhorse, and it confirmed what he’d suspected — a lack of courage, or perhaps, simply a lack of trust. The corrupted knight emitted a low, curious hum, more intrigued than disappointed by her decision. "Oh? So I shouldn't offer you a ride on my horse?" His voice carried a mocking edge, as if teasing her for missing out on a more efficient means of travel. "It was the better option than to tread towards the village at a snail's pace," he remarked, pointing a clawed finger toward her short legs. They had, after all, failed to outrun his warhorse's slow gait earlier.

"No skin off my back, though," he added with a nonchalant shrug, dismissing the matter as if her choice was of little consequence to him. Without waiting for further response, Edwin urged his steed forward, galloping ahead of the group but slowing once more to match their pace as they neared their destination.

The house came into view, and the baronet’s attention shifted, darkened eyeholes peering through one of the windows. He could make out the forms of several cats inside, their furry bodies lounging lazily or wandering aimlessly about. Most would find the scene endearing, even heartwarming, but Edwin felt nothing. The sight of the cute, fluffy creatures failed to stir any warmth within his cold, hollow heart; there was only a sense of indifference, as if they were no more than mere objects cluttering the room.

It was Amice who first called out, drawing their attention to a particular black cat that was outside the house. Its tail raised, it sauntered away, almost with a sense of purpose. Edwin’s eyes followed the creature, and he shook his head, his skepticism evident. "Better to be sure that is actually the client's cat," he said, his voice laced with a cold practicality. "I rather not go after some homeless fleabag." His tone was dismissive, as if the thought of pursuing the wrong cat was not just inconvenient but beneath him.

Dismounting his warhorse, Edwin’s armored boots hit the ground with a dull thud. The black, plated armor creaked slightly with each step as he approached the front entrance of the house, his stride confident and unhurried. Raising a closed, gauntleted fist, he slammed it against the door, each knock resounding with a forceful, metallic echo. It was a bold, unapologetic gesture — the kind that announced his presence without question. Whatever lay inside, be it the client or another obstacle, would have to confront him directly, for he was not one to be ignored or turned away easily.

Standing there, the baronet's dark, abyssal eyeholes remained fixed on the door, waiting for it to open. Would it be the client, a figure seeking to reclaim their lost feline, or something else entirely? Edwin did not particularly care; he was here, and he intended to see this trivial matter resolved, if only to satisfy his curiosity.

Ul was at least touched that Viole would even speak back against Edwin, despite it seeming like a lost cause of an attempt to do so. Clearly the man was so deluded in his own illusion of power that not only did he have no respect for anything or anyone, there was not a thing that had any respect for him. Sighing and shaking her head, she didn't believe that merely being a baronet would make him completely invincible from all sorts of law. She did meet that powerful Baroness person on a completely random trip, clearly it wasn't like nobility was a rare commodity... and from her research efforts, it quite frankly wasn't difficult in the slightest to get into the level of nobility he was boasting.
"You do realise that achieving the status of a Baronet is really no difficulty at all, and is but a mild stepping stone in the political world? But alas, you must have not a single accomplishment to your name that it is the only thing you can claim. Considering you seem to travel alone with no duty or purpose, perhaps you are lying, or live a purposeless life of which your status means nothing to nobody in reality. Why, I'm sure anyone would rather be fine with being themselves than a notable embarrassment that you cherish being. Now unless you plan to actually be useful, go, run along, find some other little kids to harass. Jeez, if I poked around your history enough, I'd probably find an interesting Travel Record to your private island..." Ul would huff and shoo with her hand, though she could only suppose the oaf on the horse wasn't going to leave them alone. She wasn't spiteful or cared enough to actually do much afterwards, but it was truly annoying having such a waste of oxygen around.

Though, the fact that he was trying to get Amice to do what he asked or supposedly 'offer' convenient things felt like a red flag. The elf didn't want to be sad on babysitting duty, so she looked to Viole hoping that they'd keep up with keeping an eye on the little one. It was relieving to hear that Viole wasn't pulling funds from some mystery place, sighing.
"Good, I wasn't expecting you to do anything of the sort, but it's a nice gesture. I'll leave you the decision of surprising me with what you wish to make, though nothing overly frilly or 'cutesie-girlie'. It should be comfortable, or practical, or something regal with an esque that reminds you of nature, though I'll let you make whatever comes to mind as I trust your instinct" Ul answered, thinking a moment on the 'technically' second name.
"Viole Self-Improvement? That's a first for a last name, whatever gets it done" Ul mumbled softly in consideration, if that was a technical last name then it was surely a weird one. That, and she'd never even heard self-improvement said in just a saying. Knowing Viole was a construct, self-improvement could've actually been somewhere in her construct name.

To answer Amice's question, she just nodded briefly.
"Yes, bike. Explosions. It doesn't have a soul, it's not a construct. It just works" the elf tried to briefly explain, hoping that the little one couldn't somehow wiggle some more confusion or questions out of such a brief wrap-up answer. For the moment, she'd slowly take her bike along with the others to follow along and find where this little cat-quest required them to be. Once they'd arrive at a place which very clearly looked like a cat-infested abode, and too noticing the black cat walking off on its own. Whilst she quite adored cats and wouldn't mind going after it, she likely wasn't very trustworthy of letting someone like Edgewin handling talking... talking in any regard for that matter. Plus, for some 'big shot baronet' that he claimed to be, someone had to make sure that his ego wasn't attempting to steal all of the credit. She didn't entirely care for credit for such a little quest, but considering it was originally being undertaken by a little kid like Amice, it would probably be better going to her rather than the clown in armor-clad black.

"Viole, you and Amice can go and bring back that cat. I'll try to... manage damage caused by him" Ul spoke, trusting that he'd be capable of managing it. Wandering over to them as they had loudly and rudely knocked, such a man couldn't understand having an ounce of grace.

"Do you have to be so terrible? You're knocking on some cat-loving stranger's door, probably some older personn or something. You're not looking for a fight from your abusive father, if you're gonna stick around for no reason you could at least act your age" Ul would answer in an annoyed tone, sighing and looking to see if anyone would even answer after that knock. Considering the amount of cats, she wouldn't be surprised if some cats tried to leave through the door the moment it opened.

"A person can be beautiful or pretty in many ways, though a standard man is referred to as handsome, but calling them beautiful in some cases is also appropriate. Pretty is usually reserved for women and those of either androgynous or feminine features in men. I just fit between the male and female spectrum of beauty, which explains my androgynous appearance." Viole exclaimed to Amice, her trying to say the word androgynous and failing was a bit concerning but it was a hard word for a young person especially if it wasn't their first language, though it is something Viole would be willing to work with later if Amice would allow it. Viole's voice as always was calm seemingly with emotions and yet cold when he spoke, mainly caused by him being a construct, but partially due to being unable to fully emulate emotions.

Viole turned his head towards his ladyship Ul Dyril when she spoke to him and looked in the vague direction of her eyes, maintaining eye contact was something he was taught to be a necessary thing in a conversation, but his unending gaze could scare people he knew of that, so even if Ul was his ladyship he didn't dare look her straight in the eyes.
"Very well my lady, a piece of clothing that is not overly frilly nor cutesie-girlie... Whatever that means. But based on the amount of material I have I should be able to make a set of underclothes for you and perhaps a set of long gloves, with what remains I should be able to make my own gloves."
Viole replied after a bit of thinking, though if he went with making what he stated he would need to get a new sewing kit, and maybe train with some other cloth first as he did not wish to ruin what little drider silk he had.

Viole did not understand why his ladyship assumed self-improvement was his last name when he stated it was his middle name, though in fact he could not access in his memory what one could assume was his last name—or in his case, the last acronym, which creates his full name made up of the acronyms.
"Mistress already knows what my name means, the middle name is S.I.E so self-improvement fits, though because of the accident mentioned to you before I don't have access to the so-called last name of mine." Viole corrected his ladyship Ul a little, he just hoped it wasn't impolite on his part.

Viole walked alongside Amice towards the quest giver's house as he did not wish for the girl to be alone, or in close proximity to that man, he was as well worried for his ladyship Ul but he knew deep down she was strong. Strong enough to protect herself if need be, so he focused on the little one he was tasked with taking care of.
Viole listened to Ul's request, he then asked Amice if she wanted to get the kitten with him.
"Will do my lady. Well then Amice shall we get the kitten?"
It was when the kitten got closer to them that Viole remembered that some animals dislike him for some reason, mostly cats though some dogs also dislike his presence, was it because of his unusual make, his bodily behavioral unit malfunctioning with small unnatural movements sometimes, or was it just the fact that he was a construct that caused this, he did not know. So he asked Amice to first approach the kitten
"Would it be okay with you Amice if you interacted with the cat first? Animals for some reason don't really like approaching me, though there were several exceptions."

“Suu-peer-ee-oor?” She tried pronounce that odd word. “Statue...? Those rock-made things?” He was using a lot of words that confused her, but she did her utmost to try figure out what he might have meant. “Oh, you mean {important}... ehm... imported? No, ehm... Important! You're an important mister?” She asked, hoping she managed to understand it.

Looking between the terrifying war-horse and the bye-k, Amice knew where her preference was at. “I think miss Dyril's byek is ehm...” How to say this nicely? “I want to try that one some time!” She couldn't figure out how, so she just gave it to him straight. “Can I, miss Dyril?” Then again, if not, she'd still rather walk than to get on a horse wit ha stranger. “Thamuras and Asuka also told me not to take candy from strangers, get in their wagons or get on their horses... but they did not mention beyks.” Clearly that meant getting on a bike with a stranger was totally fine. Deep down she knew it wasn't, but it seemed far too interesting, so she ignored logic for a moment. On the topic of the bike, it was not a construct, it just worked. So Amice nodded. Good enough.

Viole was teaching Amice a fair bit. “an... ando-... androg... what?” That was still one of the most difficult words in like, ever, from what she'd heard. That said, she wasn't sure. He was a man, he was that... andro stuff... “So you're handsome, beautiful and pretty altogether?” She asked, figuring it might just be a simple case of addition.

Afterward, Amice was give a mission. “Okay!” She'd call back to both Viole and Ul, as she'd go after the cat. “Here kitty, kitty, here here~” She tried lure it. She thought that was what she was supposed to do. It seemed Viole was even less 'in the know' about it, as he asked her to try get it. “Oh? That's weird, but I'll try get! I wish we had fish. Cats like fish, right?” She stated, as it seemed the cat's interest in her was close to non-existent. “Perhaps we should try nets to catch them? Or ehm... those things you catch rabbits with!” She added some ideas, as the cat continued to deny Amice and Viole's existence and kept walking further and further away from the house.

It seemed the knight did not wish to chase the cat, instead slamming against the door. A lot of shuffling and some meowing could be heard from inside, as someone seemed to start making their way to the door. Ul turned out to be an absolute psychic. Exactly as she'd feared and expected, there was a cat immediately trying to rush out the door, only to be grabbed by Ul before it could escape further.

An older woman soon opened the door. “Oh my, Whiskers, bad kitty. You can't just run off like that.” She'd state, seeing the cat caught by Ul. “Ah, you two dearies must be the ones come to help find my darling cats? Yes? How great, how great. Come in, come in, before another cat escapes. They are all a little adventurous lately, I think.” She'd nod, as she'd allow them into the house, which was absolutely filled with cats. The scent of cats was equally strong, with all furniture and walls suffering scratch marks. “So, dearies, did you want to know something about my darling kittens?”

The baronet's dark, forbidding presence loomed over the group, his patience thin yet his need to respond to slights still strong. When Ul's snide remarks graced the air, he didn't hesitate to meet them head-on, his tone dripping with disdain as he fixated his cold, abyssal gaze upon her.

"Ah, of course," he drawled, his voice thick with mockery, "reaching the status of baronet seems to be nothing for some impudent whelp such as you." His helmet shifted slightly as he shook his head, emphasizing the absurdity of her words. "Why don't you enlighten us about the pathetic and unimportant kingdom you claim to be a 'lady' of? Certainly, neither Amice nor I have ever heard of whatever backwater mudhole you crawled from. And, sincerely," he paused, letting his contempt marinate, "I doubt that any noble in Ryke would consider you to be in any position other than that of a lady of the night."

Shifting his attention away from the fool on the 'bike' and back to Amice, his tone softened marginally, a rare gesture for someone as condescending as him. Despite her ignorance, she at least tried to grasp his explanation, something he begrudgingly respected. When she stumbled upon the word 'important,' he let out an approving hum. "That's right," he affirmed, nodding. "Even more so when compared to that imbecile atop her mechanical contraption, who is no more important than the dirt beneath your very feet." He scoffed, a sneer audible in his voice. "And just as useful."

The corrupted knight stood at the front door, awaiting acknowledgment, but was continually pelted by Ul’s irritating, nonsensical comments. Every insipid utterance from her grating voice only added to his growing desire to wring her neck, yet he restrained himself, remaining within the boundaries of the law. Barely.

"I believe, how is this called again..." he mused, his gauntleted hand rising to his helmet’s lower edge, as if trying to recall something with exaggerated deliberation. "...Oh yes, that's right: projecting." His lips curled into a smirk beneath the helmet. "The only abuse I've suffered is enduring your infernal voice. And if our client is elderly, it makes all the more sense to knock with enough force to be heard, doesn’t it?" He clicked his tongue, a sharp sound of irritation escaping him just as the door creaked open.

To his mild surprise, Ul had proven to be somewhat useful, managing to snag a cat that seemed poised to flee. But his attention shifted quickly to the woman now standing in the doorway. His eyes, hidden beneath his helmet, studied her with silent intensity, taking in her form and demeanor with a calculating gaze. She wasn’t that bad, he thought, just an old woman caught in a predicament, though that didn’t earn her any sympathy from him.

Edwin-no-helmet.png

"Very well," he said simply, his voice curt as he stepped forward, accepting her invitation. With a slight motion, he unclasped his helmet and removed it, revealing his pale, severe features. His eyes, almost unnatural in their brightness, scanned the interior of the house, noting the countless felines lounging about and the scratches adorning the furniture, telltale signs of a home overrun with cats. The scent hit him full force, causing his nose to twitch faintly as he took it all in.

After a moment, he turned his focus back to the older woman, his armor creaking as he shifted, his voice calm but cold. "Cats, you say? So, plural," he rumbled, his tone devoid of warmth yet not overtly hostile. "How many are you missing? Can you describe their coats of fur? As it stands, two of our group are currently attempting to retrieve one with pitch-black fur, much like my armor." He raised an eyebrow, his intense gaze locking onto hers. "Would that happen to be one of yours?"

It was good to have Viole around, who was someone who listened and took orders without complaint. She had been expecting to have to deal with the tediums of this world on her own, yet the sudden coincidence of Viole's arrival in her life for what felt like no reason at all would make everything so much more convenient. Whilst Viole was useful for things, she did contemplate on the construct's use in dangerous situations and had thought over it was probably something that should be worked upon. If Viole could take care of themselves as well as work as protection for their lady, it'd prove a whole lot better if she had to travel somewhere untrustworthy and unsafe.

The elf still had absolutely no idea what sort of stick was driven directly up the backside of the dark knight, glaring back as she truly wondered if such a loner of a horserider actually did anything else with his time than roam Ryke looking for attention.
"That is because I represent which I rule and the people I maintain, not brag about it. If you're of such high status, why are you out here wasting your so apparent useful time? What a complete dunce, you even need a whole suit of armour rather than a safety helmet to keep your childish self from hurting yourself" Ul muttered, the man Edgewin was a complete enigma of the purpose of his very existence and role to society.

"Projecting? We know, everyone can see you projecting from a mile away. You hide your face for a reason? Any specific reason you directly go to making sexual remarks and choose an oversized lance as your weapon? You claim to be high status but you're clearly all on your lonesome? The only people you can imagine to intimidate or feel confident in managing to threaten in the slightest are little children you chase around on a mount with more muscle and brain than you do? Honestly, you're not doing very good for your public image. You should really get all that checked out, you sound very self-conscious" Ul answered, rolling her eyes as Edwin tried to defend his reason for knocking like such an imbecile. Soon enough however, she caught the caught that attempted to make her mistake and gave a small, smug smirk in the direction of the knight.

"Good one, nice hustle" the elf would sarcastically add on mockingly to the man's inability of having proven he could even provide any assistance whatsoever yet.

As she waited on, her edgelord companion's questions would at least be logical and helpful to their little quest. Though as she kept her hold on Whiskers and gave them a gentle pet, Edwin taking his helmet off took her completely off-guard. The pristine condition white hair, the chiselled chin, the bold blue eyes and notable scar!

"Pff- Hahahahaha! You look so stupid, I apologise, the helmet is good, I understand why you wear it. Oh gosh, do keep it on, you look ridiculous, you're trying too hard. You look like a snobby prince who'll burst into tears for his 'mumsy' the moment he gets a little booboo. Oh I'm so- hahaha- I'm so sorry, you did not roll well with your genes. You can hide your face behind your helm anytime Twink-boy" Ul smiled and laughed at his appearance, for someone trying to dress and act so edgy, he looked like he walked out of some sort of private school's student council. She was at least expecting someone grizzled, a little more masculine looking, but no. That man was a definitive twink in shining armour. Now how was she even supposed to take him any even slightly miniscule amount of serious when she knew he was like that?

"Oh, right, yes. There are two others already looking to collect another cat. I'd assume you know about the ones which are missing, or perhaps also how long they've been missing?... Also, you should probably look into something so you can open the doors to your house without your pets escaping. If you can provide us details on names, or anything they might like or that could get their attention or something, that'd make it a lot easier... also easier trying to find out where they might have ran off to" Ul asked of the older woman, lightly sniffing and smelling the scent of the cat-filled home. Even this world had a crazy cat person, she supposed. Why was it always cats? Either way, she kept a calm hold on Whiskers for the moment as she lightly caressed and hugged it until the need they'd be ready to head off and do whatever they had to. Though, she might as well mention...

"Oh, and do not mind my companion here. He's rather shy and nervous, so please be patient and calm with him. He's trying his best to assist today, he's a good little boy who just loves to help people. Isn't that right, sunshine~?" Ul would cheerfully and smugly tease with a hum.

"Those Thamuras and Asuka fellows sound like wise people, little Amice, they must be important to you." Viole exclaimed, partially to himself but mostly to Amice, partially as a question but mostly as a statement. Whoever those Thamuras and Asuka were, were important enough for young Amice to listen to their words and remember them even right now, but based on the tone of her words and how she addressed them they weren't related, the well-found family was a family after all 'the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb' a saying his creator often said even if under his own breath while making his constructs.
"I wouldn't say I'm handsome, as that is a different way of looking, but since you insist I'm beautiful and pretty then I must be as such. Though I don't doubt I pale in comparison to your cuteness or the looks of my lady Ul."
Viole contemplated Amices statement for a bit, before replying to it via correction. Viole might have been many things but handsome wasn't one of them, besides he knew he paled in comparison to his lady Ul prettiness, or Amices cuteness. They were more worthy of attention due to their looks and not him, he was made this way, he didn't earn this compliment albeit it was a nice thing to hear.

"Cats do indeed like fish. We should not that might spook the kitten."
Viole replied, from his knowledge cats loved fish, attention and most of all lazing around on something soft and warm, so thinking this kitten might be similar in this case Viole squatted on the ground, making himself smaller but activating his thermal regulating system [Control Environment F, Magic F, Focus F] to mimic a hot but pleasant to the touch place for a kitten to rest on, but really waiting in ambush for the little kitten to approach him and attempt to catch him by the scruff of its neck.

“They are!” She'd happily reply to Viole. “Asuka always tells me what I should and shouldn't do, whilst Tahmuras often shows me how to do fun stuff.” Smiling, she'd look up at Viole. “Perhaps you can meet them after this mission! I want to make them proud by showing I did this all by myself... well, with you and miss Dyril and the scary man, but I mean, ehm, you know, not with them?”

“Cuteness?” She asked, not entirely sure what that meant. “Miss Dyril was very green.” She'd nod, as that had definitely stood out. “Are you two {married}? Ehm... I don't know the Common.” She tried asking, seeing how he called her 'my' lady just then.

She nodded, self-assured. “We'll need fish, then, but really no nets?” That felt like it might make them miss some chances. Then again, she was far from an expert.

As Viole would try to make himself appealing for the cat to approach, the creature would stare it him for about... 2 seconds, before flicking it's tail, raising it high and continuing to walk further away from them. “Nooo! Here, kitty, kitty, don't keep running.” Amice called after it, though her calls got entirely ignored. This cat was having none of it, it seemed.

“Oh, yes, I'm afraid Luna, Shadow, Tiger, Smokey, Bella, Oreo and Simba have all ran off. Though I'm glad you managed to catch Whiskers from doing the same.” “Their coats? Of course, Luna is black-furred, except for some tufts of white around her paws. Shadow is entirely pitch-black. Tiger is also black but with some white stripes, it's adorable, though not as a doable as Oreo, who's black, white, black, with an adorable white stripe from his little snoot up onto his tail then again, Mittens has white paws whilst being black, making it look like she's wearing mittens, but she's not missing. Anyhow, Smokey is grey, with spots of black, though not as fully grey as Gigi, whilst Bella is from the See and has blue and purple colours that form a tiger pattern then Simba is from Kuridan and is yellow-brown with a mane.”

“Pitch black fur? Oh, yes, deary, that might've been Shadow.” She'd nod. “Be sure not to spook him, or he will be nearly impossible to find, although the time Peanut Butter got out was far more troublesome than he's ever been. It's a good thing Peanut Butter's grown too fat to escape.” She'd not to herself, staring at a fat looking brownish cat laying in front of the the fireplace. “By the way, deary, it's none of my old-lady-business, but you might wish to take your helmet off a bit more to get more sunlight. You look terribly pale, dear.”

She'd state, before recalling something. “Oh, right, would either of you care for some tea, perhaps?” She asked. Then turning to Ul. “Shadow was the first to escape, about three days ago. The others escaped between then and now. I must admit, with a hundred and one of them, it's a bit difficult to keep track of all my dearies all times.”

She'd nod at the next bit. “Shadow likes to hide in dark places when scared, but otherwise tends to just walk around a lot. Luna likes to watch things roll around, like balls or the likes. Tiger likes heights and climbing into or onto things. Oreo likes cream, even though we shouldn't give her too much of it. Smokey... Is a bit odd, he likes to be near, well, smoke. Bella loves to show off her colours to people. Simba likes fish... and bugs.”

Raising a finger, she shook her head at Ul. “Now, now. Miss. It's not nice to talk about your friends like that. I'm sure he's a responsible adult that knows what he's doing.” She'd nod. “So please, do bring my kittens back safe.” She'd add, a tad worry about their 'fight' getting her cats involved, perhaps.

The baronet stood stoic, his gaze fixed on the older woman as she delved into the details of her missing cats. At the mention of seven wayward felines, one of his eyebrows lifted, a minute gesture that signaled his barely restrained incredulity. He committed each scruffy description to memory, fully intending to purge every last detail from his mind once this menial task concluded.

Then, her suggestion of a sun-kissed complexion tugged a smirk to the corner of his lips. “Burnt skin may suit the peasants and serfs who labor under the sun, amid the muck and sweat,” he replied, a glint of sardonic amusement in his azure gaze. “But for someone of my position? That would hardly be appropriate.” The scoff that followed echoed his disdain for the very idea.

All the while, he ignored Ul’s grating jabs, the nonsensical insults bouncing off him like leaves against armor. Every so often, he cast her a brief, dismissive glance, her feeble attempts at insult sliding off like raindrops on slate. How feeble she seemed, the so-called noble of some unknown backwater land, desperately clawing for a reaction from the first insult onward.

Eventually, her insults targeted his appearance, and his eyebrow arched again as he regarded her with a withering look, assessing her from head to toe. Yet just as he was about to retort, the client herself took the reins, admonishing Ul for following comments about his capability—a surprising development that quickly kindled the seeds of his next play.

He leaned into her words, letting his expression shift to one of affected disappointment as he clucked his tongue softly. “I fear, madam, your words will fall on deaf ears with our friend here,” he intoned, a look of resignation in his eye. “Such a pity…” His voice drifted off as if truly lamenting Ul’s incorrigible nature.

“But rest assured,” he continued, his tone firm as he gave a respectful, slight nod, “I shall not allow her coarse and unruly behavior to jeopardize your beloved pets. That is a promise from the House of Stormcrest.” For the first time, a semblance of respect colored his tone, the faintest nod acknowledging her authority in her own domain. [Etiquette F]

He lingered a moment longer, allowing his words to sink in before offering a genteel smile, his features shifting into a smug expression as he added, “And before we commence the search, tea does sound most welcome. A fitting reprieve to cleanse the palate after… such unsavory company.” His eyes flicked briefly to Ul before returning to the old woman, the self-satisfied glint now fully taking over his expression, eager to see the effect of his carefully spun words.

OOC: It's been a while, so I'll just get a short bit up for Maxxob so that this doesn't end up going too slow, especially with my vacation coming up and the chances of us wrapping this up before the 14th already having become really low.

She was a bit taken aback by Edgewin's mention of burnt skin suiting peasants. “Oh dear, I do believe such is indeed true. Then again, back in my day, we were far more searching for ways to keep young as a show of position. Ah... those were times.” She seemed to reminiscent on the olden days for a bit. “I take it you are the latest generation of nobility then?” She'd add.

A tad of sadness showed in her eye when Edgewin just used her word to go after his friend. “I must say you're a little quick to give up on her. Please, to try to get along. If anything, to make sure my precious kittens don't get scared even more by your arguing.” She'd try to 'solve' things.

“Stormcrest? Hmmm...” She shook her head. “I must admit I do not know that house. I take it they weren't often present during Duchess Brysta's social gatherings? Is the house perhaps located in Duke Seroria's duchy then?” That'd probably explain why she'd never heard of it. Either that, or they'd been too new, unimportant or they'd conveniently never crossed paths. “Either way, I'm honoured to have a nobleman aid me.”

She'd get up to make some tea, returning a bit later to serve it. It was a slightly bitter brew, though with a fair depth of flavour. Like import from the West Empire. It was also served with honey, should one wish to tone down the bitterness a bit.
