Fandom Noragami: A New Era

Hello! I'm feeling the urge to rp Noragami and I'm looking for like-minded people familiar with the fandom to join me.

Playable Roles

-Gods: You are born from the wishes of humans. If no human remembers you, you will cease to exist. Your goal as a god is to cement your existence by gathering believers/worshippers, hiring/naming regalias, and building/earning a shrine for yourself (which will serve as your home and allow you to travel between the near and far shore). Once you do that, you can join the competition of gods as they do their best to grow in fame and power. Build a family of regalias (sacred tools) and wield them in combat to fight phantoms and protect humans/spirits from corruption. You can die if you get blighted too bad.

-Regalia: You are a sacred tool—an instrument of the gods to fend against phantoms. Originally a pure spirit that died from unjust means (not suicide), you have no memories of your past life and don’t even have a name until a god names you. Your goal is to get hired/named by a god, then assist your god in their duties whatever it may be. You are responsible for caring for your god and guiding them if they die and are able to switch between gods (get re-named) if they release you. If you have multiple names, you become a Nora and if you sin/give into corruption, you blight your god. You are capable of turning into a phantom and many of them find you really tasty since you’re still a spirit.

-Spiritual Human: You’re a regular human that see spirts, gods, and phantoms. Your goal is to live a regular life despite the phantoms that love to corrupt you. Gods can help with that. As a human, you can choose which god you choose to worship/build a shrine for. As you continue to support them and their fame/power grows, you can become their priest—learning spiritual voodoo and becoming a receptacle of divine possession as needed. Alternatively, you can join with phantoms and give into your dark side. Lots of liberties if you choose this route since everyone wants you.

-Phantoms: You’re one of the new smart (--er than your average phantom at least), human-like phantoms that were born during the AFAH era. A corrupted spirit born of negative emotions in the far shore, your goal is to grow stronger by eating spirts, corrupting humans in the near shore, and feeding off their darkness. Hence you like hanging around with humans a lot. Gods will want to kill you. You can choose to join with other phantoms or hit it off on your own. You can also travel freely between the human world and underworld at will.

Quick Plot

The year is 2030 and as modern humans advance and become more independent they are losing their faith in gods. In Japan, old shrines gather dust and become forgotten. Even worse, an organization called Atheism for all of Humanity (AFAH) swept across the nation for a period of time (10 years ago), destroying shrines/churches and denouncing the existence of gods while shaming priests and spiritualists as charlatans just trying to make money off the stupid. Many joined them. Riots of faith and anti-faith broke out. Believers of the unseen became lynched, both verbally and physically. During this period of corruption and darkness, even some of the older gods faded while phantoms grew in number and power…leading to the existence of sentient, human-like phantoms with enough brainpower to gather and form armies of their own in the war against gods. While the gods managed to stand their ground during that period of crisis (the AFAH fad passed), the war to claim the near shore is far from over. Remnants of AFAH still remain. Phantoms are still drawn to the near shore by the darkness in human hearts, ready to feed and corrupt, as new gods are being born from the ashes of the old.

What will become of this era of new gods?

Even if I say there’s a plot, this rp is mainly a slice of life sandbox where you pick a role and interact with other players accordingly to survive in these trying times and achieve your respective goals. Gods want to name regalias, recruit human followers, and kill phantoms. Regalias want to be named by god, support god, and not be eaten by phantoms. Phantoms want to kill gods, eat/corrupt regalias, and corrupt humans into doing bad things (like killing themselves). Humans…get to do what they want, though they generally want to avoid corruption.

Rules:

• Try to stay active with at least 1 posts per week. If you have trouble meeting this, let gm know.
• Original Character applications only. While some canon characters, like Tenjin and Bishamonten do exist in the background and may be mentioned, they won’t take an active part in the story that's meant for the newer gods.
• This rp is about interacting. Please do your best to interact.
• Romance, drama, etc. is encouraged.
• No god-modding. Only gm is allowed to do that.
• Treat fellow players with respect.
• You're allowed to make as many characters as you think you can handle.
• No one-liners. I need at least 1 paragraph of decent grammar and spelling to work with.
• Have fun. I'm always open to suggestions when it comes to making an rp more enjoyable.
