"Looks like someone's got a thing against gym class..." Jerod muttered when they entered the gymnasium.
Aria gaped at the damage. Aside from the collapsed metal beams, the equipment were also burned and nearly completely destroyed. She imagined being stuck in here, flames searing her skin, and shuddered in apprehension. The arsonist, regardless of whether they were an Elegy, Regret, or something else, could probably burn her to a crisp before she could even resist. Hopefully, they would never have a run-in with them.
In the time she spent dreading over the arsonist, Luca had already formulated a course of action. Aria nodded attentively as he laid out his plan. It'd certainly make sense if there were some connection between the gym and locker rooms. As she listened, her mind drifted to Jerod's comment from before. So Mr. Luca's the brains... She breathed a little sigh of relief that Luca was in her group and hoped that the other group was also able to find a direction to search.
Once the plan was decided, Aria carefully stepped around the glass shards littered across the floor and followed Alex to the girls' locker room. Even after seeing the awful damage done to the gym, she still couldn't hide her surprise when she saw the state of the locker room door... Or at least, what was left of it. Most of the door was missing, and its remains were singed. Aria tamped down the fear of the arsonist possibly still being around and stepped inside. Despite what the destroyed entrance might suggest, the rest of the locker room didn't look too bad. Most of what Aria could see was untouched, but a good section of the lockers by the shower room was wrecked.
"I'll check out the rest of the locker room," Jerod piped up. He leaped off of Aria's shoulder and wandered deeper in.
"Be careful," Aria called out after him as she stepped towards the singed lockers. She dwadled there for a moment, unsure of what to say or make out of the scene. It definitely looked like the arsonist was aiming specifically for these lockers, but what else...? The lockers were empty, so it couldn't be that the arsonist was trying to find something, right?
Aria wasn't facing Alex, but the thought of the older woman's sharp gaze made her ears heat up. She wasn't cut out for detective work. She imagined Alex quietly judging her incompetence and asking Luca or Vincent for a partner exchange and resisted the urge to bury her face in her hands. If only she could spontaneously combust on the spot like the lockers. Sweat beading at her forehead, Aria made a panic-grab for the shower room door handle, though she wasn't too sure what that'd accomplish. After wiggling the handle a few times, she sheepishly turned to Alex, "Uh, it's locked."
"I'm baaack," Jerod sang as he trotted back. Aria quickly scooped him into her arms and eased up her shoulders a little. The doll shot her a weird look before continuing, "The lockers inside look kinda different. Taller and thinner, I think. They look good as new though."
"That sounds like the sports team lockers at my school. Maybe it's the same here?" Aria murmured.
