The is no need to hide it, you are among friends.

Regardless, I think I have an idea on what to do for the character, would you mind playing idea volleyball with me as I get everything set? Would you rather I brought such a conversation to the ooc?

Interesting. Quick couple questions before I do anything, though. First, I haven't looked at the actual RP at all yet, but do our characters have to be human in appearance/have a human form?

Secondly, since our characters control a particular substance would it be possible to "control" an absence of a certain subject? For instance, would a character that can "control" light to the extent of simply removing it from a given space be possible?

I would recommend making your character human, or a slight variation e.g elf, seeing as all the other characters are human/elves, I'd suggest saving any more extreme designs for your character's "demon" form, if they choose to go that route.

And about the "absence" idea, I didn't really have it in mind, because while creative attacks and moves are encouraged, we can't have science and realism taking away from the fun, so for example, our air character can't just remove all the oxygen from the area to stop our fire character from doing anything. But it's alright as long as you're "controlling" your own energy, just not for any tricky tactics
