My character has taken the liberty of planning the tournament himself (just so I can stick to roleplaying the one character) , so whoever is prepared to fight, just jump over to him and ask who you're fighting, or something of the like.

I just figured it'd be easier to match whichever two people are currently active at the same time, gives a better chance for them to be active together again and complete the fight. Also it'll be difficult to give @SleepyBuddha a random opponent right now seeing as a bunch of people haven't actually arrived and made a post. However I can just choose an opponent randomly based on who's online, sounds good?
