  it sounds like another case of the forgotten [/border] tag. every [border] must have a [/border], or the code will put it in for you, almost always in the wrong place, which messes up the code more often than not! most freebies are rather hefty in coding, so it's ill-advised to go through and count everything yourself. the fastest ways to resolve the issue would be to:
  
  1. save your content
  2. ctrl-z & undo until you reach a stage where the preview shows the correct layout or re-copy the entire original code
  3. put all your content back in
  
  for future reference, you gotta be extra careful to not delete and not forget the closing tags ([/border], [/font], [/center], etc.). bbcode is extremely finicky, and leaving any one of these out or deleting them on accident can and will break ur whole code!!!

  well, it depends on the code you're using!
  
  for codes that are using [font=Name][/font] tags, you'll just need to make sure your fonts are spelt correctly and spaced correctly, i.e. times new roman has to be 3 separate words
  
  for codes that are using font-family (the bbcoder will usually indicate this!),
  1. make sure that your fonts are called out properly. this just means putting
  
  "[comment] [font=Name]hello[/font] [/comment]"
  
  anywhere in the code, so that font-family will be able to find the font and display it correctly!
  2. make sure you replace the names in font-family correctly, following the same principles as the [font=Name][/font] tag. the part that comes after the comma, i.e. "font-family:'Font Name', sans-serif; refers to the type of font it is. it usually doesn't matter if you don't change it, but if you know what type of font it is, you might as well switch it too. you'll be able to know all of this information referring to the font's information google fonts, clicking "select this font" and seeing how they input it into css.
  
  if none of this has worked, it's likely the font you're trying to use isn't available. you should note only safe web fonts & google fonts can be used, and fonts with the "TM" sign on google fonts are excluded from this list!
  

  
  

  
  
  
  

  how do i customise colours & pictures??

  
  
  
  

  
  

  
  

  colours & pictures are changed thru the use of variables.
  
  variables are those funky little words at the top of each code, labelled with -- in front of them, i.e. --color-1: #hex; , --img-1: url('xx'); variables are very easy to work with, and changing them is very simple!
  
  for colour variables: change the hex code in #hex to match the code you want
  for picture variables: replace the img url between the 'apostrophes' with the img url to your picture
  
  adding new variables are just as easy! just follow the same format of the others, but change the name of the variables. you can't have two things with the same name!
  *** and remember to not delete/close the semicolon ; after each variable!
  
  if you want to use a new variable you've made, put them in as var(--variable-name); for example, background: var(--img-2); ! though usually this would require some sort of coding on your end too, other than adding in new pictures for relationships and galleries. if you see instructions relating to this in the nine lives codes, now you'll know what it means!

  for soundcloud media players:
  put the whole soundcloud link within the [media=soundcloud][/media] tag.
  
  (edit 06.2022): i realised i never updated this for soundcloud's updated sharing link generation! when getting links from soundcloud, try to click on the song and copy the link from the website bar. if you use the [copy link] button, delete everything from ?utm_source onwards.
  
  your link should look like this:
  https://soundcloud.com/officialbiosphere/strangers-ft-love-sadkid-chris-wright-ciki
  and not this:
  https://soundcloud.com/officialbiosphere/strangers-ft-love-sadkid-chris-wright-ciki?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing
  
  
  for google drive players:
  put only the google file code within the [media=googledrive][/media] tag. the google file code refers to the crazy string of numbers in the link you obtain when you share the track via link. make sure the permissions of the sharing is set such that anyone with the link can view it. you can read more about google sharing permissions here. don't worry about the sharing/collaborating with 100 people part.
  
  also make sure the file you're sharing is an audio file, not a video!
  
  just take note that most of our codes allow for soundcloud and google drive files, just for convenience. pick between the two by following the instructions inside each border to shift the display:none; over to the type that you are not using. it's a little confusing the first time, but you'll get the hang of it soon enough!

♡ flavour: oh my oh my, I’m a bit into more modern minimalist looks. For example your greeting and information code. I hade some beautiful codes a few years ago but those codes are too complex, now that I’m back in the game I’m looking for replacements ): it’d be awesome to actually see the song or band inspiration within the code to but of course it’s not needed! I also like when the codes look like things ex: the characters phone but that’s a bit over used and unneeded
♡ sugar level: mobile friendly with little fun buttons or scrollys would be amazing! (I like the little fun details) I’m obsessed with my faceclaims so if possible 3+ Images would be enjoyed. For example a past character sheet had three tabs and three images under each tab.

finally able to update our main menu with a new code, this time a short & simple character sheet, made to the tune of roel's beautiful vocals! this code features tons of hidden scrolls, notably on the main content container as well as any of the teenier content boxes!

this was a little code we made for a 1x1 we're in the midst of planning out since we aren't just coders on this site ( ˙▿˙ ) but we've gotten super lazy, so you'll notice it's a lot more... to-the-point than some of the other codes we've made! recommended for side characters, or just when you don't feel like writing as much about a character! word limit 150 on backstory type of beats, y'know ♡( ◡‿◡ ) but see! we've finally added something back onto our main menu (；⌣̀_⌣́)
