The fighting began, courtesy of Missy's quick thinking, as Ryu's stance changed; one hand gripped the handle of his blade while the other was firmly planted upon its sheath. His mind rushed with the familiar scent of battle, his fighting instinct starting to take over, as he observed the domain they were all enclosed within now. His eyes fell briefly upon Hiachi's presence at the furthest corner of the area, which may as well have stayed an eternity upon her. It was impossible to tell with his monstrous visage what he was thinking, or feeling, but soon enough his gaze swooped across the field until he spoke at last.

"Stratsimir. Protect Hiachi." he ordered his Jack, before turning his words to the Tiger Queen. "Samira. Aid the Serpent King."

As for himself... these interlopers were his. They would be delivered a cold, unyielding end that was oblivion for this transgression. Power surged from his body, flushing through to form arcing energy that trailed onto the blade that he slowly began to draw for a few inches. Soon after, within a split second, his weapon was released into the air with a savage swing that sliced the air which in turn released an arc of power that quickly travelled towards the would be assassins.

Audley’s eyes locked with Vita’s and—

Suddenly, she was floating—suspended in a sea of nothingness, accompanied only by the voice, unrecognizable and yet… so familiar. It resonated in a way that her chest tightened, a sensation she couldn’t label. So warm yet chills cascaded down her spine, covering her arms and legs, their bite reaching her very core.

She couldn’t think, temporarily robbed of even the ability to comprehend what thought was. The concept of her existence slipped through her fingers as though trying to grasp water to keep from falling.

As quickly as it came, it passed, and Audley snapped back to reality with an audible: “Huh?” before she felt Vita’s touch. “Y-yeah? I think so.” she responded hesitantly, straightening up.

The commencing fight between Rude and Aelestra snapped her from the lingering daze left over from the vision. Aelestra took a heavy hit to the head but recovered, destroying a portion of Rude’s chains. The sound of clapping followed as Audley applauded slowly, the action somewhat mocking. “Kill each other,” she hollered dryly, voice dripping with boredom but lacking a certain energy—that spark of amusement that often decorated her tone.

So, it wasn’t my potential… She lost herself in thought, pausing with her hands raised and clasped mid-clap.

The next thing that happened was a little more predictable. Portals opened up around them, swirling distortions of space, their edges rippling like liquid. The air crackled, and, from each portal throughout the wide space, new figures emerged—challengers.

Standing beside Vita, Audley blinked with wide, curious eyes at the Beastmaster, her arms limp at her sides. The gravity of the situation pushed the disorientation of the vision to the back of her mind, and she quickly locked in. Her expression was one of sheer focus—lips pursed, eyes glinting with sharp concentration and fixed solely on the two chimeric beasts testing the strength of their bindings. Her gaze was unyielding.

She counted, reading the tension in the air like a sign. Three… Two…

The beasts’ collars snapped and they charged.

Audley moved at the same time, vanishing into thin air as her first step followed through. She warped into her monochromatic dimension and took a calculated leap. The dimension blurred past her, space distorting. In a few heartbeats, she reappeared behind the Beastmaster, crouched low. The jagged blade of her ice axe gleamed fiendishly, reared and positioned to strike. Muscles taut—her eyes still wide with unbreakable fixation—Audley drove her ice axe forward, aiming for the Beastmaster’s leg.

Lars' first reaction was anger. Of course someone blew up Purgatory. Of course someone tried to kill him. Who cared about logic, when the most emotionally gratifying choice was to attempt murder? As Eribelle dutifully put her life on the line for his sake, he let out an uproarious laugh. Partly at how Kanna had saved them the trouble of falling rubble, and figured she did have her useful moment. Mostly laughed at the intruder.

Standing up, he took in the spectacle, eyeing Sura as his domain encapsulated everything. He looked at his Ace, grinning. "What kind of self-respecting leader flees from assassins?" he stretched his neck, giant metal cubes hovering around him. "Shen ran the moment things got rough for him. If he was here, he'd do the same, and I am nothing like him."

With a flick of his hand, one of the cubes flew at the crowd. It exploded into nine smaller cubes like a shotgun, striking them down in a wave. His other hand sent the cubes beneath his feet, slowly building himself a weapon.

And, for the intruders' apparent leader, he opened his mouth.

"You metal-brained stiff! What kind of homeless utopia did you crawl out of? Coming in here with that kids cartoon get-up of an unimaginative rendition for a cyberpunk future? I'm more slighted by the fact you think you appear any sort of threatening or mature in that budget YEMU party costume! You and your cronies, if we can even call them that! Let me guess, those aren't actually people? Are you so desperate for attention you have to build your own companions?! You walk into Purgatory with the intent of taking us on, and this is what you give us? You can't even hurt us properly, if at all! What a damn failure you are! It makes me laugh just to realize people like you even exist! How did you make it to the age of maturity? I can tell the kind of person you are just from a glance, and I'm not impressed. I'd remember you more if you got up and left after realizing how inadequate you are at anything. You failed at getting a single scratch on any of us, you failed at making people listen, you failed at friendships, you failed at image, you failed anything remotely important! What the hell can you even accomplish if all you do is screw up?"

As soon as she was ready to answer the next round of questions, Karina could feel the intense flash in her head. The world melted away as the booming voice filled her consciousness and made everything else irrelevant, as it clearly wanted her attention to be on it and it alone. Just as it happened, it ended. What was that even about? Was the pressure getting to her? Was she starting to crack? No, something else was going on, as everyone else seemed to have gone through something similar. She needed some breathing room to get things together.

Karina raised a finger to indicate to the others to wait a moment before she could speak again. In the state, she looked around again and noticed someone else. It was Robin, the Tiger's mangy attack dog. If she saw Karina talking with the cub, would she be angered or indifferent? They were on neutral ground, but there was no telling what that maniac would even do.

It didn't matter.

The explosion rocked the entire sanctuary and knocked the Serpent on her knees. It took a few seconds to realize what had just happened. In one fell swoop, their leadership was decapitated. Was an act of one of the other gangs, or did the police find them? Was it from one of them, or did someone survive the purges? Questions abound, but no answers anywhere in sight. A very frustrating situation to say the least.

She got up slowly, thinking that things couldn't get any worse. The rattling of bones behind her made her close her eyes and turn around slowly. She opened them and let out a frustrated sigh. Sure. Let the dead walk again. Amids the sea of bones, she could see their commander. Eyes glowing with a purple haze from a distance, sending forth the skeleton crew. Dying here, against that...child was not an option. She needed to think fast.

At least she didn't have Welsha clinging on to her back like she was to Rio's. The Tiger could maybe hold them back for a few moments, but she would need help of some form. "Did you at least bring a weapon?" Karina calmly asked the Tiger cub as she grabbed a handgun that was hidden in her coat. "I don't have a spare." A little lie. She wasn't without a backup, but a foldable baton wouldn't be of much use against the undead. It would have to be something heavier. She aimed at the approaching skeleton and fired a shot. The skull fractures would hopefully do the trick.

Voices. Lights. Explosions. All in the span of a few minutes. A lot to take in for your normal guy. Lucky that nobody here was normal, especially Stratsimir. By the grace of kayfabe, he had survived the explosion, only at the cost of his suit. A terrible loss as it was worth quite a bit and their money situation didn't allow for a lot of spending on custom clothing. The Tiger Jack grabbed the tattered remains of his suit and tore them off from his massive frame. Normally that would catch the spotlight, but the boss had already popped the crowd with his own frankly more intimidating form.

And what a crowd it was. Armored, mysterious figures emerging from the ether. Spooky types. He wasn't exactly impressed by the scary act. Dime a dozen in this town. The things he wanted to do to them on account of costing him his suit had to wait. Boss gave a very clear order. Protect Hiachi. Fine. Not the first time he'd be a babysitter during a fight. With any luck, the kid would take advantage of what kayfabe could provide. There was a chunk of rebar poking out after the explosion. Strats grabbed it and pulled it along with a piece of concrete still attached. Makeshift sledgehammer in a tight spot.

As he turned to find the girl, he heard Lars talking and talking and talking. He silently contemplated testing the kayfabe sledge on him for half a second. No, not the time or place. It would have to be another day.

"What the hell?" He muttered as the scene between, Hiachi, Charlie and Cerberus unfolded before him. He missed a few details on account of everything else going on, but it looked like she was alright? Thanks to whom? The shadow creature from hell or the blue haired dwarf. He eyed Charlie for a few seconds as he approached, 'hammer' resting on his shoulder. "Shouldn't you be with your gang, little man?" He teased and looked at Dante/Cerberus, "You haven't snapped him in two, so I take it he's on the level."

The woman moved away from her, the world began to move once again in her eyes as the giddiness of being chosen for such a vision faded into annoyance. Creatures spilled out of portals which would ordinarily be of no issue to her but the second the thing called her prey she began a mad laugh.

“Prey? We’ll see just who is the PREY WHEN I FINISH YOU.”

She grasped onto the bone firmly pulling its power from the instrument. Ah teeth manipulation. The cracks deepened and the bone shattered in her hand. It was the last use for this bone. She pulled out the sack of teeth she had prepared as well as pulling out teeth from every one of the people falling to the creatures. The gorey prizes obtained would be wondrous weapons in her hands.

“Hehehe try this one on for size!”

She threw her hand down letting tooth after tooth become a bullet if it’s own. She heard the beckoning of her fellow serpent that this was not their battle and turned to face the Contaminated.

“Not our fight? Do you consider living optional? A hunter never lets go of prey, if you run that’s all you are but when you fight back you become the hunter. If you want to die as prey I’ll honor you by using your bones until they crack into dust.”

Without further adieu, Element Liberation attacked.

    Xdfh3Hk.png
The savage cat-woman lunged at Daigo with a wild ferocity, her claws gleaming like daggers in the dark. "C’mon, tough guy! Show me what you’ve got!" she snarled, her tone half-taunt, half-challenge, raking her claws through the air with an audible hiss as she brought them down in the hopes of rending the young Phoenix's flesh from bone.

    GVnPHFU.png
Across the battlefield, the smartly dressed woman stalked toward Christina like a predator, her serpents weaving hypnotic patterns through the air. "A Phoenix with fire powers? How original," she teased, her voice as smooth as venom. "Let’s clip your wings, shall we?"

Without wind-up or significant warning, the serpents lashed out as one, each head striking with terrifying speed and precision, fangs bared and hissing, their necks elongating past the point of improbability to strike at Christina, their snapping maws searching for purchase along her body.

    79y4XXY.png
Lastly, the bespectacled woman approached Jericho with far less urgency than her allies. Adjusting her round glasses with a pale finger, she tilted her head, observing Jericho with detached curiosity. Her lips curled into a faint smile.

"Hmm. You’re fascinating," she murmured, more to herself than to him. "You're different from the rest. A perfect test subject." Her hand dipped into the pocket of her lab coat, producing a small vial filled with a shimmering, indigo liquid. She swirled it absently, watching the contents shift and bubble with faint luminescence.

    "Let’s see how you react."

THE FOURTH SEAL / CATASTROPHE
There might've been time for words, as the Serpent King and some of the others had seemed to have desired.

But then the shooting began.

A blade flew from a Dragon's wrist.

An arc of energy, courtesy of the Tiger King, hurtled toward those arrayed on the table (which had been all but swallowed by moss and forest floor by then), followed by a manifested cube summoned by the Dragon Queen.

Then came the wind.

A howling, furious force of nature (or whatever the equivalent could be conceivably called, in this false, alternate reality) shrieked through the forest battlefield.

The first gust hit like a truck.

BOOM!

And then, it surged.

The second gust came, and the Kings, their forces, and even the invaders were scattered like leaves in a tempest.

One moment, they were together. The next—

They were not.

The storm flung them apart, scattering them across the seemingly endless expanse of the Dark Forest.

Serpent and Dragon alike landed in a gloomy clearing, surrounded by towering trees.

There was seldom time to collect oneself. The forest stirred.

Something shifted—black garb and whirring electronics motored between the trees. They emerged all at once. Their black armor seemed to drink in the darkness.

The time for talk had passed. The black-garbed invaders attacked.

Daigo's original plan of going on the offensive had immediately gone awry by the speed of his opponent, who put him on the backfoot and left him to dodge as best as he could against her flurry of clawed attacks. He was fast, but he was having a hard time keeping up with his enemy as she sliced through the air - a few strikes managing to graze his skin with cuts along his forearms and his leg. She was seeking to disarm him before the fight even began, and in turn he needed to find an opening before he was overwhelmed. Another strike flew, cutting his cheek as he stepped back and watched as her form went wide...

Daigo struck out, arcing a fist - in conjunction with his summoned arm - to strike out at the lady, but found himself hitting air as she deftly flipped out of the way. His eyes grew wider as he realized how exposed he was, and paid the price as her claws dug in between his ribs. Fortunately, this meant that he was able to strike out and backhanded the woman with his summoned arm with enough force to send her flying a few meters away. Blood dripped onto the ground as a crimson stain grew larger on his shirt underneath his jacket, signaling an epicentre of the bleed.

He clutched at his side, wincing in pain and gritting his teeth and in turn staining his hand with his own blood. But this was not nearly enough to take him out of commission, as he glared at the woman - who licked her wet talons and delivered a malicious grin. And so, without hesitation, he rushed at her to attack!

He bounded through the madness, leaping over toppled pillars, crawling through piles of rubble. Weaving through the battles, baring his teeth against the splatters of blood. Tattered tie, tears through his suit. The white had been muddied in muck and mire, caked in sweat, the suit decorated with stains and filth. His knees and elbows were scuffed, his breath was heavy and his throat was hoarse. He was calling a name, so many times it had stopped feeling like a word, it was a concept, it was a face.

This was the most cardio he had done in awhile. There wasn’t a single respite, something around every corner. Even beyond that, he couldn’t slow down. He refused to be late.

Not again. Not a single second.

His fist reeled back, steam blew from out of his lips, billowing like a car exhaust as energy poured through his muscles, they tightened and contorted, the vascular growths twirled at veins and pulsed through his skin, a red glow of high body heat, the bubbling of his blood beneath the surface. Knuckles dispersed air then impacted concrete, crashing through the stone in a plume of dust that immersed everything in the haze. A silhouette stood in the toppled wall, the smokescreen dispersing as Roach stepped over the toppled foundations with his feet, the loose bits falling behind him to land against the ground.

He coughed, he swallowed as he bent forward a little bit, finally taking a second to let his lungs get a good taste of oxygen, his hands rested on his knees, his back half bent. His head stayed risen, those grayish blue eyes bright with life. He slowly rose back upward, breathing returning to normal as he let out a long exhale through his nose.

The air bellowed, a vacant huff from the world. Begrudgingly presenting him with a second of silence to just observe what was before him. A sphere of black, featureless, contourless, blank. It was out of place, an ink blotch upon the canvas. It was a sight that would invite wonder if it didn’t feel him with much dread.

A moment of hesitation made him stand there. He had no clue what was in there. He had covered a lot of ground, but there still was more. There’s a lot of other places Hiachi could be, he could be doing something entirely stupid.

But, there was a chance…

Since when did he care about looking stupid?

His eyes looked down towards his hands, flexing his fingers, before giving himself an assured nod. He walked forward towards the black sphere, taking a deep breath, before he raised both his hands up and thrusted them forward.

His fingers made contact, he could see it, but he felt nothing. He felt force against his elbows, like he was pushing through layers of sand, he moved forward, his legs dragging against the ground, watching in front of his eyes as his cells stretched, his atoms pulled across space time to distort and twirl. The space in front of him expanded wider, swallowing more of him, and shaping reality around his vision, everything began to shift, the direction of the earth and sky, the colors shifted across a spectrum, and shapes became formless blobs of hue.

He would have screamed, if he still had a voice, if he still had a body to speak of, if he still had a consciousness. But space did not fear, it didn’t think, it didn’t feel. It simply existed.

A blink. A flash in the distance, the big bang in the vastness of heat death. And then eyes opened to be flooded with color. Perspective moved around, peering through the treelines, a humid atmosphere. The sounds of rustling branches and dripping water flooded into his ears.

There, a head was stuck in the ground, peering out from underneath a rotted log, half hidden underneath the shadow as it looked around, a blink of its eyes.

“...Huh?”

A small droplet of sweat went down the side of his face.

“Oh…Wait, what!? There’s a whole forest in here!?” Roach was baffled at what he was seeing, his eyes darting around wildly at the scenery, mouth hanging agape.

His awe was cut short though, his mouth promptly shut as he heard the sound of moving machinery, the clicks and buzz of pulses of electricity giving the energy towards numerous mechanisms. Metal pushed and pulled like hydraulics, glows of purple loomed above him, and then dropped with enough force to shake the ground, looming down upon him with their robotic analysis, faceless comprehension. The correct protocols came with the sounds of twirling girls and loosened shafts, poles shot out from their compartments, and makeshift arms extended, the sizzle of current, the flash in the darkness that came with axes and swords formed of stable flux, crackling and sparking in the wet atmosphere.

“Oh shit.”

Flowers sprouted through the new cracks in the earth. Their spores drifted into the air, soaring peacefully above Alice and the horrifying gash in her body, flat on the ground. They hovered over the Beast Boys, and Rude, Aelestra, and Briar. Nobody else would see what they were about to see.

Not again. Not again.

She clutched the area, her hands and clothes rapidly staining red. Her hands shook. Was it cold? Did the paleness of her face match what could only have been the impending end that has always reached for her?

Eyes wide, her pupils shook and glazed over. She saw the mall and the swarm of attackers killing the innocents. Janay Hatt's smell trickled through her nostrils. She saw the great pelican summoned during the attack on the casino, when the Phoenixes sought her life. Alice felt water flooding her one good eye, and coherent thought was lost. She screamed...

And Alice disappeared.

Then the world took shape.

A newspaper flew by. But it was larger than any could possibly fathom; big enough to flatten Amestria itself. They could feel the wind against their skin, and the bitter chill of New Oasis' morning.

"You beastly gentlemen pride yourself on size. Kings of the earth," a mature voice boomed over all. "But the planes you envisioned yourself ruling over is nothing but a cage in a zoo. A zoo for what you truly are: ants."

The earth shook at explosive magnitudes, enough to make everyone's legs feel like jelly. An object bigger than any peripheral vision flew by, feet from the Lizard Beast Boy. A car wheel. They were now standing on the streets of New Oasis, living the daily life of ants, as the colossal vehicles drove by on rush hour. Their engines deafened the skies like thunder, and their friction shook the world with every second.

1738629418020.pngOn the pavement, of matching size to the cars and this world, was the Red Queen. "Welcome to my world, you miserable cretin." Her steps boomed across like shockwaves, gradually coming closer. "You think you know yourself? You think you know pain?"

A car crashed into the Red Queen, crumpling around the unmoving woman, even as flames and smoke singed her dress. The Beast Boys could feel the blazing inferno even from their minuscule existences. "You are nothing. Nothing!" She stomped her heel on the ground with enough force to shake the Beast Boys off of their feet.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Alice limped away from the Beast Boys, desperate to find any safe space at this point.

Instead she froze, having almost walked between the blonde Phoenix Daigo and his foe of the cat-woman. Their violence was in full display before her very eyes. More of her flowers grew, following in the cracks up to her footsteps.

As they blossomed and sent forth their seeds, she hugged her knees and wound and wept. "Charlie... where are you..."

The force sent him sliding across the ground, and he rose with a loud groan. "My damn suit! Damn metal-brained pansy! It's pricks like these who ruin the gene pool!"

However, there was little time to reconvene or discuss plans. No time to debate. Of course they would forgo civilities in the face of emotional outbursts. Assassins were always like that, especially those Phoenixes. What kind of Jack freezes up when met with the natural criticisms that come with the position. Seriously, calling the Dragon Queen a dick? How did she think that would even affect him?

If only there was something he could use to feel better.

"Dad!" Guardian hovered in just then beside Lars, four of the company drones following after. He looked frantic; concerned for his father's safety. In the end, they were still family. "I finally caught up with you! We should—!"

Lars grabbed him by the throat, throwing Guardian into a stack of invaders and sending them flying like bowling pins. Guardian pierced through the trees and skid across the ground, sweeping more of them off their feet. After finally screeching to a halt, Guardian's ragdoll faded into pixels. Back home, Jesper woke up in tremendous pain.

"Strike!" he called out. "There's more of where that came from, you pedestrians!" Lars tapped a device on his wrist, assuming control of the drones. Summoning more of the cubes, he stepped on them as he surrounded himself in the metal. They stretched and deformed, magnetizing to each other and creating walls around himself. Those walls bent and turned, encasing the man in a torso. They formed a body, then arms and legs. The drones flew onto his hands, latching on the backs of its palms.

The suit was finished, and Lars laughed through the helmet visor. "Have a taste of steel and industry!" He brandished his arms out, the drones locked and loaded, and he opened fire on the attackers.

Christina couldn't help but chuckle, as the smoke began to waver off her biceps and shoulders. "Fire's cool, ya know? Burns things away. It cleanses... purifies." she responded, as the snake woman closed in. Remember the fundamentals, Christina. Sure, she's got six snakes. You've got two fists, and a raging inferno inside. You got this.

Dodging the striking snakes proved to be difficult, their strikes almost like lightning with their quickness. Christina did what she could, and even managed to pop the snakes a few times with her own punches. She bobbed and weaved, leaned and tilted. Her boxing background helped immensely. Don't get hit, and if you do, make sure its not a bad one. Their scales sliced open her arms and shoulders, and their fangs scraped at her skin. Thankfully, none actually sank into her flesh. She hoped there wasn't any sort of poison in those things. That'd suck big time. Her flesh began to sizzle, an audible hiss starting to sound off from her knuckles. Her body heat began to rapidly raise, and the smoke seeping off her form continued as well. Just a little longer, and she'd combust.

She wouldn't be able to get near this snake woman until that happened.

Her hair began to move on its own, strands dancing like flames in a fire. Yeah, that's it. Its close... real close. Christina grinned, peering over her fists and bloodied forearms. "Hey, you wanna see something really cool?" she said, flashing her teeth in a grin.

It wasn't long after that she hit the combustion limit. Her entire body burst into flames, her clothes vanishing in the intense fireball that occurred when the ignition occurred. A wider grin appeared on her face, as she straightened up, her eyes now replaced with hellish yellow orbs of fire. "You said something about clipping wings, right? Well, I don't have any wings. I do have the whole fire thing down, though." she said, her voice now bearing a sort of ethereal sound to it. "...I wonder. What's the best way to roast a snake?"

Wow. They've actually made me run through two full magazines. I haven't done that since the Reaping.

Robin holstered her pistol, and pulled off the glove on her left hand as she swapped her knife into her dominant one. Her flesh was exposed to the open air, delicate in appearance until the palm was visible. Several clean slice marks covered the inside of her hand, from the years of simply cutting her hand open in the event she needed to use her potential.

That time had come again.

She drug the blade of her butterfly knife across her palm, a bit slowly to savor the moment. The sight of red appearing and pooling in her palm before running over the side brought a smile to her face. She bit her lip, her expression shifting to one of bliss. Blood... sweet, beautiful blood. Soon, there would be more than just her own staining the floor of this god forsaken place. The droplets spattered across the floor, but soon rose again as they reformed into droplets. Her powers were kicking in, manipulating the droplets and turning them into long, thin needle like entities. They then hardened, resembling shards of ruby as they floated in the light around her.

A wave of her fingers followed, and the needles began to float around her. Drifting in a random orbit around her form as the skeletons drew in close. Then, the needles began to put in the work they were crafted to do. The needles pierced skulls, bones, and armor, shredding anything that would enter the orbit of their manipulator.

Robin spoke up as she began to wade into the line of skeletons, her steps graceful. She spoke up, looking upwards towards where she noticed a faint purple glow.

"Oh, master necromancer! I beseech thee, come forth!" she called out, giving the woman a theatrical bow. "I want to see what your insides look like."

The creature's slap and threats were met with slight, albeit visible, annoyance. "No need to tell me what to do, the enemy is right in front of us." He then looked over his shoulder, smiling confidently as he stared at the ghastly entity shrouding the girl. "Also, better improve your attitude with an ally before I make you regret it." Just as he turned to look forward once more, ready to lunge at the invaders, an unknown force swept him off his feet, it was almost amusing how it happened twice in such a short amount of time, though it beat having to tank a blazing explosion, at least.

Getting back on his feet, it finally dawned on Charlie that he was in the middle of a forest of some kind. Most likely an illusion of some sort, it even brought a sense of familiarity of Alice's wonderland. Alice...

Near him, the phoenixes, and what he assumed to be the albino tigers, stood nearby, as well as the scarred girl and the obnoxious dog-thing. It was a relief knowing he hadn't been transported to a deserted location, but on the other side of the coin, the concealed attackers were still acoming. How could he tell? It was easy, as a split-second reaction allowed him to avoid a blade thrusting forward, barely missing his skin by a centimeter. The steel edge protruded from over the figure's arm, gleaming blue under the fake moonlight, Two more followed behind, slashing at the phoenix with similarly-shaped blades, which found themselves blocked by his sturdy forearms.

Amber orbs stared at the masked trio with vehemence as they jumped backwards, the ones on the sides slowly treading on opposite direction. "Tsk, I have a friend to find, so let's make this quick." Blades of grass and bundles of dirt flew through the air, his explosive lunge closing the gap with the middle attacker in a moment's notice. Fingers clutched around its metallic helmet as his entire body was slammed on the ground, the earth trembling as steel dug into the soil. The other two jumped in from behind, aiming for a strike at his back, from under their capes, their offhands clicked and clanked as something shifted and morphed from within.

Rather than turning around, Charlie leapt forward once again, leaving the figures slashing at the air. Still grabbing onto the original invader's helm, he dragged him through the clearing until he coming to a stop, turning backwards and flinging his body towards the other two, propelled like a dangerous projectile. The second and third invaders dodged their oncoming ally, unbothered to cushion his landing. Golden light shone from under their garbs as they pulled their offhands out, their ends now shaped into cannons, blasting unknown energy at the gangster.

Reaching into the flaps of his jacket, Charlie's hands were now adorned with a pair of knuckle-dusters, their dull and weathered surface a testament to their years of use and simple reliability. With a confidence stemmed from the experience of battle and strife, he punched straight into the blasts, a struggle of opposing forces lasting for a couple seconds before the rays were forcefully redirected upwards into the night sky.

"Bolt! Everyone! Are you okay?!" He shouted at the nearby phoenixes, showing his concern towards their own battles. He leapt towards the two invaders once again, battle-lust slowly starting to reflect in his eyes.

That’s it…

As he picked himself up from the cold ground, the razor-thin line that his temper had been mercilessly worn down creaked as it attempted to hold itself together with the final fraying strands that were still conjoined. He tried to stay calm. He tried to work with them. He tried to behave.

SNAP–!!

RRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGHHHHHHH!!!

The dirt beneath his boots cracked and scattered into the air as he stepped in, driving his hardened fist deep into the solar plexus of one of his cloaked jailers. The impact shivered through his veins and forced him to widen his brass eyes, as if his favorite drug had just entered his system. Through an involuntary grin, he furiously snarled through sharp, grit teeth.

MOTHERFUCKER!

His victim lurched over to match the shape of the sledgehammer that was Bash’s fist, their torso denting and their bones crushing beneath the force of his iron knuckles. With an enraged growl, he pushed his hand even further into its target, before launching the invader directly into the Dragon Queen’s artillery fire.

At least I get ‘ta let off some fuckin’ steam...!” Bash laughed, clenching his fist while admiring the damage he’d done. He’d been holding out for so long, he’d forgotten what his own strength looked like. He couldn’t thank his uncle enough for the training he’d been put through.

Oi, Shitbag!” He called over to Lars, furrowing his eyebrows and waving his fist as he stared the Queen down. Part of him– no, all of him wished that it was the man’s face he’d caved in. And he wasn’t afraid to take a crack at it if he pissed him off one more time. The butt of his cigarette drifted down to the ground from his mouth as he opened his mouth to voice his declaration.

Ya got it comin, cocksucker! Stay outta my goddamn way, or I’ll mix ya in with the fuckin’ concrete!

Boltius had braced himself before the explosion.

Facing down the intruders, he had gone quiet.

And when Sura’s domain took over, he shot Hector a knowing look, knuckles white at his sides.

However, when Sura opened his mouth, comparing the brewing winds to those of the South’s hurricane, the thread of patience tying him to composure snapped and Boltius went hot.

“Have some respect!” he roared, running out of fucks to give and ready to risk it all.

In response to Hector telling Sura to shut his mouth, the Phoenix King threw his head back laughing. “Hahaha! What a perfect face,” he sang, seeming to adjust his stance as the winds became stronger—faster. It shredded the leaves from the trees, throwing up rock and dirt. “Show me more!”

Boltius began sliding where he stood, guarding his face from the spiraling, earthen debris. Every leaf and twig that touched him burst into flames, unable to withstand the temperature of his flesh. Acting with caution so as not to char his comrades, he lowered his heat and threw an eye around him, seeking Yong-Yut. She had the means to protect herself in a situation like this, but Bolt was a ragdoll in the dryer…

And just like that, as the brunt of the winds hit, he was ripped from his place and sent rolling.

Sura, on the other hand, let himself go to the wind, accepting it with arms wide open. He laughed maniacally, eventually catching himself on a tree near the clearing’s edge. The winds held him there, feet planted firmly on the tree’s side as if its bark were the ground.

“Isn’t this exciting!” The Phoenix King called, leaping from the tree and calling off his winds—instead, letting thunder roll in, the flash of lightning spawning overhead.

The invaders were on them quickly, seeming to multiply from the shadows. Everything was happening at once.

Boltius’s rolling performance halted when the winds ceased, and he landed flat on his back, groaning as the world spun from Sura’s antics. He sat up, blinking dirt from his lashes, and caught a Cloak rushing him head-on, closing in fast with a blade ready to strike, its metal glinting in the moonlight.

A growl rippled up Bolt’s throat and he slammed himself back down, planting his palms firmly into the dirt at his sides. Then, in one explosive motion, he kicked his legs skyward, launching himself upright into a clean kick-up. But he didn’t stop there. The Cloak was close enough to swing, and it did. However, momentum carried Boltius forward and his feet left the ground as soon as they met it—the Cloak’s blade neared his flesh, the sharp edge seeming to deform as it did, boiling into silver liquid.

All in a single instant, as the Cloak’s weapon reached Bolt’s skin, Boltius threw his head straight into the Cloak’s face, his scalding hot forehead landing heavy, bone on bone, with a sickening crack. The Cloak’s sword—useless.

A flurry of punches and kicks followed, having succeeded in disorienting his opponent. His footsteps left patches of black in the grass as he danced, keeping his heat condensed to a close aura.

“Yeah, I’m good!” Boltius called to Charlie, grinning when he recognized the voice. Fuck’re you doin’ here?

Meanwhile, Sura traced circles, surrounded, fending off a handful at once. “HAHAHAHA!! FIVE AGAINST ONE! I MUST BE SPECIAL! BUT REALLY!?... You wish to take me—”

The hairs on his arms and head stood up—a buzz charged the air—and he let his sword slide from his grip. It stuck in the earth at a slant, sheathed in the soil.

“—IN MY OWN DOMAIN!?” Spit foamed at the corners of his mouth as he screamed, his eyes bulging with psychotic vehemence.

Fast, Sura stuck out his arm, palm facing up, and pointed at the first Cloak—a random choice, for every pawn looks the same. Looking in the opposite direction, closing his eyes, he covered his face gently with his spare hand and smirked.

“Perish.”

Spears of lightning shot down in quick succession as Sura turned a circle, never looking up, sticking his opponents with unnatural precision.

Ah, fuck. She’s just crazy. How do I always end up with the crazy people?

Darius jumped back as teeth started flying, not feeling too grateful that they saved him.

“Are you fucking serious? You think I’m still around because I took every fight offered to me?” Darius yelled to Vita as he retreated behind a broken piece of wall, trying to find the best route amid all the chaos. There were plenty of bodies, but still lots of gangsters running around. He heard the growls of the chimerics and knew they would be following up with their own attacks on them soon. Without looking, he ran forward to try and evade them again, hoping Vita would keep them busy.

“Just leave with me, or die. I’ll leave without y-” Darius slammed straight into something. Not one of the giant fists, thank goodness, but a man the same size as himself, who was knocked to the ground.

“So sorry, lad.”

A weary voice spoke up from the ground as the man got to his knees.

“It’s all a bit exciting right now…”

Darius spied movement in the corner of his eye. Before his morality could catch up to him, Darius grabbed the man by his arm, and in one swift move, flung him towards the attacking monster, hoping it would placate at least one of them long enough. With the man out of the way, Darius kept running, throwing himself behind the next piece of rubble large enough to hide him.

Despite popular belief, Yong-Yut hadn’t clammed up.

She got distracted.

The vision left her blinking idly, dazed as the leadership around her spoke over each other. By the time she snapped out of it, ribbons snaking upwards to yank Boltius and Sura to their seats, everything had changed. The explosion, the guests, and then the monsoon.

Fabric wrapped around the seat-turned-gross-rock beneath her like vines as the wind threatened to take her with it. The ribbons entwined in her hair formed a small shield in front of her face, dirt and sticks hitting the fabric with hard ‘pats’. “Is this really necessary?” she found herself asking through the grit of her teeth, but the recipient of her question was too busy having the time of his fucking life.

Then she was flying.

Her sneakers braced against the rock as she sought to steer it with the grip of her fabric, narrowly avoiding the tree Sura was planted on by a hairsbreadth. An arm shot out as she passed, his robe yanked from his body and pulled onto hers without so much as a please or thank you. The tempest let up just in time for a bolt of the robe's cloth to wind around a trunk and fling the Phoenix and her rock around its body. Suddenly free from her grasp, the rock jet towards an invader without her, her legs swinging wildly in the air before she found the ground again.

Panting, Yong-Yut caught the silhouette of the Phoenix Queen convergent with the path of the moss-covered rock. Whoops. “Hector! Duck!” she called out as the rock went straight for his head. Then, she picked up the voice of… Charlie? in the distance. “Wh—”

The slash of an invader’s blade nicked her before she could fully get out of their way. Cloth retaliated with a painful cinch of their wrist, yanking their arm back until that disgusting pop of... something being displaced wormed its way into her ears. She cringed at the strangely metallic sound before peeling her eyes from the stranger to look through the dense forest. “We’re fine!”

She assumed, anyway.

The invader went flying with a hearty swing, and she ran off towards Hector like she’d just hit a home run. “Sorry. I’ll help,” she said once she got to his side, giving him a short nod before falling into step.

If there was one thing about Audley in a fight—it’s that she was hard to catch. Her cooldown refreshed just before the Beastmaster’s chain could slash her, and she vanished again. Close-quarter combat gave her the advantage of faster cooldowns, allowing her to teleport in and out of her dimension in rapid succession.

She did just that—five times, she reappeared around the Beastmaster, attempting to strike him with each emergence. However, jumping in and out of the fourth-dimension could be disorienting. She told herself to slow down, vanishing a sixth time to put some distance between her and the hulking lion.

Her axe did little to faze him. If she was going to deal some real damage, she needed to aim for the head, but her reach was limited.

Audley took a breath. Some gangsters rushed the Beastmaster, giving her a chance to think.

She turned and vanished. The seconds passed…

…Five. Six. Seven.

Where there’s a wall, there’s a way. Within her dimension, Audley scaled Purgatory’s wall and ran across the ceiling. Every step she took sent ripples across the black surface, and the entire world distorted as she moved, blurring past. Luckily, the Beastmaster’s hazy form was easy to recognize due to its unique composition. When she found herself above him, she leaped and returned to the third dimension, wielding her ice axe over her head, descending quickly upon the Beastmaster with a mind to split his skull in two.

The Phoenixes’ tempest, as violent as it was, was only concentrated in the areas its master wished which left the rest of the field more at peace save for errant breezes and short breaths of turbulence. The forest would have been tranquil otherwise where the Tigers stood, were it not for the fact that enemies were closing in; stalking in the manifested underbrush, surveying and studying their targets with all the patience in the world. Amidst the flowing grasses stood the Tiger King, unfearing of the challenge put before him as the verdant blades below swayed. His blade remained charged in one hand, scabbard in the other, as his own otherworldly eyes surveyed the battlefield.

Their enemies were numerous, and their capabilities unknown… an unfair fight under normal circumstances. One befitting of a last stand one could imagine from a movie. But the enemy wholly underestimated who they faced, as Ryutaro was no simple fighter and he was not alone. His head shifted slightly towards Samira nearby, and he took a deep breath. “Ready?” he asked her, his voice rattling with a demonic cadence before looking at Missy nearby. “Don’t put yourself in unnecessary danger.”

“Of course,” Samira replied with an annoyed huff. This was not how she imagined spending her late evening at all but she had to admit, it was much more exciting then listening to the Dragon Queen yap any longer. Speaking of which… her golden eyes darted from left to right, surveying the area quickly to realize that it was just them and the Phoenixes — the Dragons and Serpents nowhere to be seen. Confident that Ryutaro had already noticed, she kept the observation to herself and unholstered her gold plated Colt 500, previously hidden by the pristine white coat she wore. Using her perfectly manicured thumb, a satisfying click could be heard as she pulled back the hammer, bringing the barrel up to aim for the intruders.

Sheathing his blade back, Ryu crouched slightly and took up a hardened posture as his free hand hovered just above his weapon’s hilt. His breath was slow, steady like the gentle wind that blew through the area as the enemies nearby prepared to strike. They assumed much of their situation, and thus also assumed their own victory given the circumstances. But as the breeze stilled, their own expectations were cut down as the Tiger King lunged forth at last. With a startling speed that left behind an afterimage where he had been just a second earlier, his blade collided with the closest intruder - who only just managed to bring about a defence out of pure instinct - and sent them flying deeper into the forest.

Dark energies swirled around Ryu’s steel as he quickly changed targets, exchanging blows with three nearby interlopers in a flurry of strikes that all collided with one another in a tempest of violence that - with some of his deflected attacks - struck out towards the manifested trees nearby and splintered them completely. One enemy struck out at Ryu, their weapon passing just by the King’s face as he weaved in between and returned in kind a punch to their helmeted face that sent them tumbling a dozen meters away.

Just as Ryutaro charged head on into battle, Samira steadied her aim, providing long range support. Her attention switched from the enemy that had been sent flying to the other who attempted to capitalize on the brief opening. Their weapon raised against the Tiger King but as soon as the momentum started downwards, her arm shifted slightly, firing off a single round to connect with the armored hand.

Before she had time to follow up with another shot, she caught a glimpse of another intruder out of the corner of her eye. Instinctively, her potential activated, a glowing energy emanating from her to define the center. The figure that had tried to attack whilst she was distracted lunged at her and never found the ground, the weight of the heavy armor lifting high up above Samira. Another charged for her but found themselves in a very similar predicament as soon as they entered the threshold. The golden aura that blanketed her shined brighter for a split second and like a flip of a switch, the gravity increased drastically, sending the two enemies back onto the ground with a crushing weight.

Ryu in the meantime continued his bout as the third intruder exchanged blows, matching him in speed but not in ferocity as the Tiger King pushed his quarry onto the defensive. A gleam from his peripheral drew his attention, forcing him to leap away as one’s cannon fire gave their compatriot breathing room. Ryu sheathed his blade again, infusing the saya with the same energies as he did with his steel and in turn used it to deflect away the bolt which collided with yet another tree and practically vaporized it.

By now, the other enemy Ryu had launched away had returned to the fray and was joining the renewed offensive against the Tiger King. Together as a trio, they lunged towards their quarry with vicious intent and without hesitation to carry out their directive. But Ryu was ready for them as he blocked out the world; the sounds of the world were drowned out by the steady rhythm of his heart overtook all other noise to him. He felt the rhythm of their charge, the rustlings of the manifested forest around, and the blood flowing through his body. His hand hovered above the hilt of his sword once more as - in that moment - the world seemed to grow still in anticipation for his release.

His enemies were near, and together, and this was the opening he had been waiting for all along. And with a violent release of his power, he sliced into the space around him towards the three enemies in his vicinity.

”I’ll show you…”

The wind against Hector’s face soon made it far too difficult to talk. He focused on keeping tethered to the ground, squatting down, arm covering his head, but it wasn’t long before he too was sent away with the others. He came rolling to a stop but had no time to catch his breath. As he got to his knees, a heavy arm from behind slammed down onto his back, sending him flat against the ground. As he rolled onto his back, he caught a glimpse of several of these mysterious assailants, and, thankfully, some familiar faces.

”Fuck YOU! BITCH!” Like he hadn’t missed a beat from the brief conversation with Sura, he transferred all his anger onto his attacker, kicking them back. As they stumbled, Hector leapt up and lunged forward, sending a blade through their lower torso and making a jagged line through their armour as he sent the blade up. Though he struggled with the resistance of the attacker’s body, they quickly crumpled onto the ground from the wound. And yet, Hector couldn’t pause for a single moment, as another armoured figure approached.

”Yeah, keep ‘em comin’!”

Hector grabbed the attacker, who was aiming a gun wildly from their arm, but they grabbed Hector with their free arm as well. Briefly, Hector had an ungraceful dance with them as they wrestled across the clearing, with Hector trying not to let the weapon be pointed at him. What none of them saw was the nearby Yong-Yut, and the rock she propelled towards the Queen’s head.

“Hector! Duck!”

”Wha?”

Though a bit slow to respond, his body thankfully reacted much faster as Hector dropped down just in time for the rock to smash into his opponent’s face, sending their head back with a crack. With another crack, they straightened their head back, showing a dent in their armour. Hector took advantage of the surprise attack, stabbing them in the chest and kicking them to the floor.

”Velvet! Glad you’re okay,” said Hector with a strained voice, wiping a litre of sweat from his face. ”You need a weapon?” While he asked, he quickly forged a new blade that wasn’t particularly pretty but seemed incredibly sharp. Before YY knew it, he had detached it from himself and was giving it to her. Noticing that the attacker was still moving, he placed a boot on their head, quickly ruining it by driving a spike into their skull.

Finally, he could see what had become of the situation. He saw multiple Phoenixes locked in battle, even one he had not expected to be here, though it wasn’t on his mind to start questioning Charlie right now. It seemed like they had a good force. The Tigers not far from them seemed to be dealing with their fair share of assailants too. So they weren’t being singled out… Finally, Hector caught sight of the King again, who was mercilessly striking down all who surrounded him. They’re even going for him… What he saw should’ve told him to stay far away, and just focus on survival, but something stirred in him, and any sense of self-preservation was gone.

”I think it’s now or never. You’ve got this covered.”

Hector steered YY in the direction of another approaching invader, as he ran off.

All he could hear was his heart beating louder than ever as he stopped at a tree a few metres behind Sura. He wasn’t sure if the King somehow knew he was there, but was thankful enough that no invaders were bothering him.

Hector ran towards Sura, weaving between bodies.

Hesitation struck him at the last moment.

Not now. It isn’t time. Do you realise the position you’ll be in after-

Something else was stronger.

Hector drew a fresh blade and plunged it into the back of the Phoenix King.

INTERACTIONS:
Takakazu, Robin, Augie
Fate Leads The Willing

Staring directly into a live explosion as it flowers didn’t, as a matter of fact, make you a cool guy. It was unhealthy, left you watery-eyed, with a thousand sharp shards of light shoved into the soft, gelatinous whites of your eyes.

His pupils were on fire.

As if someone had taken a set of miniature cheese grater and scratched them across his eyes, raked them over and over again until there was nothing but blood and vitreous humor leaking out of his skull. He was on the floor, full of scratches and cuts from the explosion, clawing at his face, only half grunting approval up at Tak as he hurried off after Hiachi. Half-conscious, half-responsive— his brain was screaming at him to pluck his eyes out. Maybe that would shut the stinging pain off.

Dante gritted his teeth, stood up, eyes shut and weeping with involuntary tears. He clenched his jaw, frowned at Robin’s words, hung his head and took a deep, furious breath that hissed through his grinding pearly whites.

He wasn’t dealing with this shit again. Not after playing blindman for so many months already. Through the pain, through the unbearable sting, Dante forced his aching eyelids wide open. His gold, flickering pupils swollen and blushing blood-red. The darkness gathered at the orbits of his like a swarm of flies on rotten flesh, deep, black tendrils that poured in a stream into his eyes— after a stifled shout, a yank of his head, the shadows broke off and streamed down onto the floor beneath him. With some difficulty, after opening his eyes, they were full again. Healed.

He lurched forward, clenching his head as the army of the dead approached, as the werebeast shed its skin, and as Robin lit up the place with bullets. His head was throbbing like a demon were pounding fists against the inner walls of his skull, rattling against its cage, trashing at his brain matter. And that demon spoke, shouted— demanded. A foreign, unbearable voice whispering at the back of his ear, a sound as pleasing as the screech of a violin’s chords being slowly torn thread by thread.

It spoke only one word, the rasp of its voice breathing against the shell of Dante’s ear. Again. And again. And again. Rushing faster and faster, louder with each repetition.

‘KILL HIM.’

He shuddered out a breath, the world twisting with pulsing, beating red. He looked onto the marching skeletons, his golden pupils dancing madly on the whites, and instead of dry, hollow bones shambling his way, he saw something…familiar. A man. He had his hair. Had his eyes. That half-crooked nose that his aunt always used to make fun of. And he was everywhere. It was his father, dozens of him. The sight of him, so vivid, so alive, filled him with an anger he hadn't felt in years.

An old disgust. A begrudging resignation. Something he had buried long since he stopped being another street urchin of the North District.

He steadied himself, grit his teeth and tried to blink it away. Tried to push the voice, and the saccharine thoughts it whispered into his mind down, scowling like it were gulp of medicine. Medicine that a portion of himself wasn’t necessarily willing to take. He sighed, cutting his eyes at the shambling figures of a dead man that slowly inched toward him — ‘Stop. We’re using too much. I’m already…’

‘Tripping balls?’ — The voice rang out in his head, almost disappointed. Dante could only ball his fists, wearily bring his gun out of his jacket. Four shots rang out, none aimed at the skeletons. The nearest lightbulbs exploded one after the other, shadows fell onto the skeletons and necromancer — ‘Too fuckin’ bad, kid. I have t’ take care of ‘er, can’t stop now. Can’t even return to ya’. Y’need to hold the fort on yer' own.’

The hounds cackling rose in his mind, partly mocking him, partly feeling just as pathetic as he was right now. It earned a roll of the eyes from Dante. A pair of bone-men were already at an arms-length of him, but he didn’t flinch, didn’t take his eyes off the floor as he took a leisurely beat to take his blazer off and toss it on the ground. He rolled his sleeves, a puff of breath hanging in front of his mouth as he sighed.

‘Yer’ always relyin’ on me to use your potential for ya’. Y’ gotta learn how to take responsibility for once. It’s always been you, not me. You made me. You killed all those fuckin’ people.’

“Tch…”

‘Y’don’t need me then, do ya’, kid?’

The darkness twisted, whirlpooled under Dante’s feet, rose into two spikes that skewered the skeletons in front of him clean through. He shook his head, palm-striked his own ear as the impish whispers came onto his mind again, a vein pulsed at his temple — “What a fucking headache…”

Dante shambled forward, eyes twitching, breath hitched and short, a nasty pain, like both hemispheres of his brain were trying to tear themselves apart from each other, drumming through his skull. He was only moving out of spite, anger, desperation. A touch of bloodlust, too, somewhere in there.

He waved his hand at empty air, snapped a cutting motion at the darkness, and the shadows shot out in one big wave that pulverized all of the skeletons unlucky enough to be caught unprotected by the light. It traveled in a flash, tearing floor and ceiling in its wake, until finally reaching its target. The necromancer. A complete miss. The shadows caught on fire and sizzled away against the light before they could even reach her.

“Agh…!” — The pain traveled in waves and spiked between his eyes, the voice louder than ever. His arms were starting to feel unresponsive already.

‘Keep it t' fuck together, Dante.’

Dante slapped himself awake, grunted like a caveman before raising his voice for Robin and Augie’s attention — “Quit playing around and get that bitch to stand in the dark. Kill the lights and I’ll— ngh…!— I’ll…fucking kill 'er myself.” — Barked orders were all he could muster to do; all the pain would allow him to do. He felt like he’d faint if he took one too many steps forward.

He panted, groaning through the headache, the pain — "Let's wrap this shit up...as quick as possible."

Dividing the forces was just the first phase of her plan, she wasn't surprised as the Wraith dodged her attack, it was expected and it allowed Jun to take advantage and stab the Wraith, though what she didn't expect was them to react so little to pain, but she wasn't too surprised to say the least. Instead of making a retreat or doing anything else, the wraith went on to try to counterattack Jun, with the second one going on to help their compatriot, while the final one focused their efforts on attacking Henry. Hiyma was sure that Henry could handle himself if it's one on one but she wasn't fond of the idea of allowing Jun to be double team, so the best course of action was to allow herself to focus on aiding Jun. Gathering the Shadows herself she sent a Shadow tendril in order to block the attack the 2nd wraiths attack that they had aiming towards Jun, and while she was able to get the Tendril in time to block the attack before she could think of having the tendril initiate a counterattack she felt a shift within the Shadows around her a warning of some kind. Looking up she saw a Wraith diving down towards her, there was a bit of surprise written on her face as she nearly yelled out "What the F-!" but instead of finishing her sentence she rerouted her focus causing the Shadows she sent around Jun to quickly dissipate as her new mission went towards protecting herself.

Ducking down Hiyma crafted the Shadows to jump up in order to cover her, like a tent crafted by native Amestrians from way back when, but with the top of the tent covered in multiple spikes which threatened to impale anything that landed on top of it. She wasn't happy about this unforeseen turn of events, and even if she immediately kills the wraith diving down at her by impalement she wouldn't be able to protect or cover for Jun nor Henry while she was being distracted by this Wraith. She had hoped that all those wraiths would focus of Pei and the other snake figuring that they would want to protect the Pirate reject and deal with Pei and the other snake in in a 4 vs 2. With double the numbers of their adversary they would of had a easier time disposing of those two, but she didn't anticipate that one of those Wraiths would go through the effort of scaling that wall to come on over to this side and force a 4 vs 3 scenario. This error will have to be rectified once this Wraith that is targeting her is dealt with, for now she shouted towards Jun and Henry "Gah, just focus on dealing with the damn things in front of you."

Welsha gave a furious head nod that she was sure Ryo wouldn't be able to see as she asked her not to get in the way, her voice was a bit Shakey as she spoke "Uhm, yeah of course, i'll be as in your way as a shy ghost." She said that as she continued to hide behind Ryo, but after a moment she took a few steps back in order to give Ryo room to move for when she fights, off the undead horde. But then a question from Karina came aimed at Welsha, asking her if she had any weapons that she could utilize, she had two weapons on her an ice pick and a dagger, neither of them were something she wanted to reveal she had but she was sure if she said no, then it would probably look a bit suspicious and would likely frustrate her friendly Snake neighbor. So she supposed her best choice would be to reveal that she had a dagger at the very least, she sheepishly looked towards Karine as she reached behind her back underneath her coat to retrieve herself a Dagger. Adding on "I uhm, have this, but I don't think I'll be able to do much with it against those, uhm creatures." she lied, but no one should be able to call her out on it.

Even as the first wave got dealt with, she wouldn't be much of assistance to her compatriots, but Robin meanwhile seemed to have made the smart tactic to gun after the root of the problem, which seemed to be the Necromancer herself, who seemed to enjoy the luxury of being out of harms way all while, enjoying the show. Though she doubted the woman would join the fray herself since she seemed quite comfortable in her current position and wouldn't wish to put herself at risk., but the effort seemed worth the shot. Welsha figured that Robin could handle herself after all she did cut herself a path through the undead to get there, if she gets overrun then it would be her fault.

Either way she needed to play weak while still helping out somehow, it wasn't like she could smoke bomb herself out of here and run away, at the moment. So after a moments of deliberation she opted to play a safe role where she would tag up with Ryu and strike out at single target stray undeads that get close too her, before quickly retreating away, then wait again in a rinse and repeat cycle. Helping out the group without putting herself in too much danger and not being a complete overall hinderance.

If not for Jun's jubilient demeanor, Henry might've just stood there, relishing in the high of his dread. But spurred on by Jun's challenge, Henry charged forward, leaving the backlines for Hiyma. Of course, Henry was slower than Jun, and he had no chance of winning the race. But charging in brought in a new thrill, and he felt his grin widen as his enemies came charging in.

Jun was immediately confronted by two of the wraiths, and Henry instinctively began to quicken his pace to help intercept attacks. But unfortunately, a third wraith set its sights on Henry. Thankfully, Henry was on the defensive, and that was where the martial arts he learned back in Graad, systema, shined. Using the jacket wrapped around his left hand, Henry let the thrust sink into the slash resistant fibers before redirecting the attack downward. In the same motion, Henry used the wraith's momentum to step into its personal space and aimed a clobbering attack with his titanium pipe at its head. Obviously it couldn't be affected by pain, but could it perhaps be affected by concussions?

In the time that it took Henry to perform this maneuver, Hiyma had taken care of one of the attacks aimed at Jun. Now though, she was dealing with a wraith of her own setting its sights on her, and Henry couldn't divert his defense to help both Jun and Hiyma. But if Hiyma told him to focus on their own problems, who was Henry to object. Helva wouldn't have made Hiyma one of her shadow friends if she was not capable.

"Let me know if you need me to take on any attacks headed your way so that you can focus on hacking 'n slashing," Henry offered Jun. Henry's fighting style was like one of cloak and daggers, if the daggers were instead a shield. He had plenty of defense for the both of them.
