Aragsar, the male dryad tiger, with Ehegar, his female, all their time with each other still without kits, are now at the meeting room to start the adoption that had been in process to come to this for many many days. Dryad tigers are little larger than large dogs, with a speckled coat of brown and green, they all have a catlike movement. These dryad tigers like the others in this cosmopolitan society with a number of different creatures cooperating with each other, mostly successful with this, have seen humans before who were kept by others of the creatures in this society, who they had met with. But keeping a human with them is still new to them.

For the end of this adoption process, each involved in this adoption is getting a new miniature psychic gelatinous lobozoan, a very small yellow creature without constant shape, which is put in an ear for their understanding with use of it any other communication for a real long time. This meeting at the end of the process would also help all of them there grow more comfortable with each other, before the two dryad tigers would go to their home with the one they are adopting.

Now the adoptee is admitted into the meeting place to see them, the two dryad tigers, and the old superwolf overseeing this process, look with interest at the one entering.

Austin is a 20 year old human with dark blond hair and dark blue eyes. He had been in the playroom of the human adoption agency where they would keep humans during the day as it let the now evolved animals watch them through a window to decide who they would want to adopt.

Austin like many humans wasn't happy about this as the animals that worked there treated them like very young kids and from what he heard, outside once adopted was worse, some animals treated them like babies or toddlers, apparently the animals veiw humans as low intelligence unable to care for themselves. He had tried to escape but failed every attempt.

The supervising superwolf had his servant, a tribble marmoset, sent forth with a new miniature psychic gelatinous lobozoan from the sacred entry to bring to Austin, who they needed to be sure would understand enough of what was going on. The tribble marmoset was very quick had had the little lobozoan in the right ear before Austin could even flinch.

The presiding superwolf said, "You must understand us now. If you are not familiar with these lobozoans, that is what they do for us. They are not dangerous to any of us like the larger lobozoans are. You probably have seen Aragsar and Ehegar, the dryad tiger couple here, earlier. They are ready to adopt you into their home. They have been made familiar with what food they should feed you, which they are ready now to do, and they have a room available in their home that you can use as your room. They have lessons that they are now prepared with, to be teaching you different things to know, that you need to where you will be in a neighborhood with the dryad tigers and certain other creatures also living there. You will fit in better learning all that, while they will continue to take care of you and watch out for you there. You surely have questions, as it is seeming, so freely ask right now, before we move on."

Austin was suddenly startled by hearing the animal speak and surprised he backed away a little before hearing everything the superwolf told him. Austin said, "I don't want to be adopted, shouldn't I get a say in any of this?!" He was a bit annoyed.

The dryad tigers had a sad disturbed expression. The superwolf said, "You can refuse. This is an opportunity. This place here is not as a desirable place as where you have a home, with some there personally caring for you. These two are really a good family, for any of those here to come to, if not you. There probably will not be such a good family that you have opportunity to be with again, if not choosing this. Consider this."

Austin sighed but nodded. "Okay fine I'll go." He hoped there would be a chance to escape later.

Aragsar the mature male dryad tiger said, "It was my position all along that we should have been spending time all getting to know each other, a good while ahead of this, you know I have said that. Remember that. We can manage but we have more work ahead cut out for us."

Preparations were made rapidly and very soon Austin was escorted out with the dryad tigers on both sides, and five chill dogs around, to the wagon the dryad tiger couple and Austin were riding, to reach the home they would share. During this ride, Ehegar spoke at length with Austin, with comments about the two wanting cubs a long while, and discussing with each other the possibility of adopting other young animals needing a home like they had, and finally the idea of providing for one of the remaining humans, like they saw others doing. Ehegar listened wanting to hear everything Austin might say about himself, or what being human was like.

Austin said, "I get you guys want kids and stuff but I'm not a kid I'm an adult so I'm probably not what you want." He thought about how to talk his way out of what they were bringing him to.

Aragsar said, as they continued on toward the dryad tiger couple's home, "I see, you are an adult human. We might then treat you as a boarder, not being our child. But you show you know little about our way of life. You really will need instruction, to manage out here in this life. We couldn't possibly just let you run loose. You have no idea what you would be running into. There are the different animals of our cosmopolitan community, but there are no loose humans around, you will see. Others will immediately be checking on you. If you do not know how to answer for yourself, any might take you for what they see is right. You will have a lot to learn."

There were trees all around, along the way, among the old home structures that long ago were occupied by human people, before the collapse and the current animals occupying them and involved in places of business. But they came to the dryad tiger couple's home, and it was seen this place was uniquely with many more trees all around it, that little was seen of the home itself, behind trees and shrubs with heavy underbrush. When each came out from the wagon, it could be seen by Austin that there was a little path leading from outside all that growth toward the home.

Aragsar said, "Welcome to your new home. Come see all that we have prepared for you."

Austin sighed as they all got out and he was led to his new home for him to see what was prepared for him, while he hoped it would not be as bad as he had heard, from other humans.

Aragsar and Ehegar first brought a basket they carried from where it was near the home, full of various nuts, to the great neomastodon that had been in service pulling the wagon that way. They then went to the home and opened it up. Within, there were blankets seen over many items that were probably still useful furniture, having them fully covered. This front room first in view had a fireplace on one side, with wood there which could be ready for use if a fire was lit. Grating was there to go over it in that event, still. There were baskets of fruits, and more with yet more variety of nuts, and a basket full of what appeared as thick crackers. There was a chest there, Aragsar encouraged Austin to come and see. Aragsar opened it at the top. Within there were frozen cuts of something. Those seemed to be from fish, when looked at carefully. When he had seen enough, the dryad tigers wanted to bring Austin to see the other useful rooms, including a thoroughly furnished bedroom they were providing to him, with interesting old tools in it.

"Why are their tools in here?" Austin asked, confused.

Aragsar said, "Humans, who had been here earlier, liked to play with these. There are such around in many places. We thought you would like that too. You don't want to play with them? Shall we move those out from here?"

Ehegar said, "Maybe he did not understand what you intended. Let him consider it. He might like it more than it seems."

Austin asked, "You thought these were toys? Seriously?" confused and finding it rather funny.

Aragsar responded, "What? You don't think of them as toys? Why do you think the human people who used to be here were playing with such things as these? If you rather not have them, we can surely move them away. There is no one around who would want them, I am sure, we just will have to get rid of them in some effective way." He looked at the tools put together in that one corner of the room meant for Austin, with concern as he contemplated.

"These are tools to build stuff, not toys, and they're pretty useless without stuff to use them on."

Aragsar sighed, briefly looking at Ehegar, and he responded, "We see you are displeased with these, and the small wood planks and small metal plates and the wires. We will start moving them out from this room we are providing to you, right now. I don't suppose you would want the dolls, either."

Ehegar was pulling an empty basket in, where they remained in this room. Then both Aragsar and Ehegar using their mouths picked up the instruments one or two at a time, to place then into that basket. They apparently had a quick efficient way for doing this and they did not take long, and the small clutter was quickly diminishing.

Austin commented, "I don't really like dolls, I prefer stuff like action figures."

Both dryad tigers finished what they had started, having the tools, the bolts and screws and several other small parts, the small metal and wood panels, the wiring, and all, in that basket that was brought in, in quite a short time.

Ehegar then gave a look toward Aragsar. Aragsar said, "Umm, action figures? I do not think I understand what such would be. We will still move all this out, so you will not have the things like this, that you do not like, here. If you get hungry, as we expect you will, you can join us outside this room where there is the food that we have here. If we have anything else you would want to have in this room for you, let us know, then." Aragsar then took hold of one small handle on one side of the basket with his jaws, and Ehegar grabbed the small handle on the other side the same way, and they dragged the basket with those things from that room, going out the door.

Austin looked confused. "Why are you pulling them out like that?"

Ehegar said after the basket was out of the room, "We do not have limbs capable of doing things the way humans like you can with yours. Have you thought that we can do what humans can do despite the ancestors we all are from being wild, because those of us here in these cities are now aware of more and are civilized, cooperating with each other? We are still the same animals our ancestors were, without change in such large ways. We move things much better with our jaws than any other way we might try."

Aragsar nodded, "You are capable of things that we are not. But you would not get far in this world without learning from us from the many more things that we know."

A knock was heard at the door at the front of the house. It must have been strange to Austin, as this house was very hidden with all that was growing in front and around this house.

Aragsar said, "That will be Etarrog, we had arranged for his help with caring for you here, we appealed to him as we are just starting with this and do not have prior experience caring for any human. And he has really special abilities, such that those where he is from generally have."

Ehegar said to Austin, "You should come with us to the door, to see him right off. You haven't seen a canidman before, have you?"

Both dryad tigers led the way to the front again, where Aragsar went to the door and opened it. There just outside stood a very tall figure, standing like a man would, but limbs were still like those of wolves or dogs, and his head was much like that of one of those, but with shorter muzzle and a bit higher forehead, and the ears were held back. He was tall enough that he still looked down when looking over Austin.

Aragsar said, "Etarrog, glad you made it this soon. This is Austin there, we do need the help because we cannot be sure of what sort of things he wants, while we do know a lot of what we should teach him. Austin, come say hello to Etarrog, who will help us around here."

Ehegar said, "Austin, you might wish to know something more about Etarrog before speaking to him. He is equipped and understands anything being said. He has power even to speak things that make them happen. He came to our congregation of animal fellowship many days ago, visiting from the realm of his kind, which he can speak of at length. He helps those of similar outlook and persuasion, and he has come to places where he has seen other humans, too. We spoke with him at the congregation telling him we would be having a human brought to live with us, and he informed us there would be great difficulties with it, but as we talked with him he said he knew ways that would help. So we petitioned him to come here when we would be bringing you here. He is friendly and will not be hard to get along with."
