There is a small bar across the bottom of your screen. Click Chat Rooms, then the Gear at the top right.

I honestly enjoy it. It's a way to communicate with users around the site. I one problem, however. The sound is... Well, kinda annoying, so if there's any way to turn it off I would be rather happy.

Operating system.

Clear cookies and cache and see if the bar appears.

[QUOTE="The Empress of Ice]I love it, though it's facebook-y xD The only thing which I actually miss, is the profile pop-up.

Click on the users name in the sidebar. When a box pops up, click their name again. Bewm.

THE GOOD SIDE

- responsiveness: chat does not have to buffer constantly like the old one

- organization: although you could argue the last chat was organized this one still is clear about functionality

- scrolling: unlike the last shoutbox, with this one you can actually scroll up to old messages without being dragged all the way down every time someone says something

- look: it's neat

- compatibility: it is convenient that you can have a mini window of the chat in one tab. Now I don't have to have two windows open so I can see both my writing/reading and the chat :)

- one on ones: you can now talk with someone privately

- notifications: notifications

- online v. away status: useful for knowing who is really there

- mini settings: at least there is some customization

- auto lobby: when I first saw this I wasn't actually expexting such an easy access to the lobby so that's all good

- different bubble: your chat bubble is a different color ~ this makes it easy for knowing what YOU said

THE BAD SIDE

- No color: this makes it

- harder to tell who is talking

- takes away customization

- not as interesting or fun to use

- Settings: though I know you can change these, the default settings seem to be set to exactly the opposite of what the popular crowd enjoys. Here are the cons

- sound: gross

- no names appear: like wtf mayne

+ pls add notification toggle

- multi-tab: does not WORK. This is a no no. I honestly think it's pretty ridiculous that you can only have chat open in one tab. This is like the website of having more than one tab open. Also, when you open a new tab, the chat automatically opens, and sometimes people don't notice it, so it throws them off when they go back to look at the chat and most the messages are missing.

- talk bubble: your talk bubble is on the opposite side of everyone else's. In the small, in-tab window this is fine but in the big chat it's pissing me off because I don't know when I sent my message relative to other messages, and its gross that I have to look on the opposite side of the screen just to read what I wrote.

- automatic emojis: make it stop. Now.

- font: no font tinkering ie. bold, italics

- tab stickiness (this goes for the rest of the site as well): say you want to open the settings tab, you click it. Say you don't want to be in the settings tab anymore, you HAVE to click the tiny settings button again. I would like it to just close when the mouse leaves away or at least when you click anywhere outside the tab.

- user bar: the list of online users is too large when the mini-window is open

- no commands: y u do dis

It redirects me to their actual profile, I meant the small pop-up profile where you can see how long they've been in the RpN community, posts etc but not the actual profile. :)

I do like this due to the fact it has a bar at the bottom for easy access to the SB and having little mini chats with others. but what I dont like is that it looks like FB and the little noise is a bit derpy. Plus, its like you're texting on a phone so your text is on the right while others its on the left(Something I dont like) It kinda gets confusing cause you're reading fluently untill you put your message and its all the way on the right like a loner. If you know what I mean

There's a green button on the far right of the tab that will minimize it to just the size of that button. Honestly, I hadn't even noticed the thing was there until I saw this thread, but that button (it goes gray when minimized) is even less noticeable.

Off-Topic: You know, the admins are doing their best to bring you all sort of useful gadgets to use and are even kind enough to add/remove/modify/adjust stuff depending on your preferences. The very least you can do is offer feedback in a polite and respectful tone.

On-Topic: If possible, I feel the max character count of the Chat comments should be raised. I usually type a lot and I find myself often needed to break my ideas into multiple comments, and that can get spammy.

[QUOTE="Britt-21]I wasnt being mean? I was only giving my feedback :/ negative or positive.

Wasn't referring to you :P

He meant in general, hun. :)

Ah, but still, people just dont really like things like this. They probably didnt mean it in a bad tone but people read it that way.

In the majority of cases, it doesn't matter what you meant by saying something as much as how people interpret it. One could not mean to be offensive by saying something, but someone might take it as such. That happens especially between two strangers, whom have no idea how the other likes to manifest or behave. Therefore, using polite tones and words can save you from being considered rude and treated as such. People's impressions matter a lot.

But that is not a conversation for this thread, and we shouldn't take up important space for feedback :P

I like the link to the site rules at the left of the bar. ( ;) ) Saves having to hunt them down!
