Advice/Help New and excited

Tobibroek

We are accidents waiting to happen.
The title says it all.

Okay, so I read most threads, tutorials. But I need personal advice, maybe out of experience.
I know I can't roleplay yet, since I have to PM. And wait 24 hours.
But when I'm going to, what will be my best option? I used to roleplay, but not on forums. But I do have experience with typing large pieces of text. Although my mother tongue isn't English.
I think Nation Building is already my favourite kind of roleplay. Next to sci-fi. What do you recommend?

This thread will tell you what each genre means on RPNation - Advice/Help - What genre should I do?

After that you can look through here and see what new roleplays are up and looking for members.

I would honestly just look to see which roleplays are available and fit your interests.

Also the PM rule just means you can't pm other people - it doesn't mean people can't PM you.

If you want to start small you can try 1x1s just until you get a better idea of how to roleplay on forums. Those are roleplays between two (maybe three) people and can be any genre.

The interest checks ( people searching for ) 1x1s are here. You can also make your own search as well. Just write down a little about yourself ( how often you can post, if there is anything that makes you uncomfortable, how much you can write , and any ideas your interested in doing ).

As stated, others can start a pm with you which you can reply to. Also, the 24 hours doesn't apply anymore, once you reach your ten posts you'll be able to use the locked features. We do advise that you wait around 10-15mins to let it kick in :3

Fandom roleplay is a form of roleplay in which members can create can ir even noncanon characters in a premade universe, (MGS, Sherlock, Doctor Who, MLP, etcetera.).

Fantasy takes place in fantastical worlds where knights and magic and powers etcetera exist.

Realistic and modern is any roleplay containing minimal to no fantasy elements, things like the ever increasing amount of highschool roleplays (Im not bitter.) abd occasionally an original idea.

Futuristic roleplays contain SciFi elements, you will find starships, LAZORS, and other scifi stuff.

DICE ROLEPLAYS ARE DND ONLY NO ONE WILL TAKE OUR FORUM FROM US WITHOUT LOSING AN ARM (Kidding.)

Nation building is great. (Check out Mankind's story.)

And no one cares about or uses Questing.

Um Realistic and Fantasy are slightly incorrect as RPNation mostly puts roleplays in categories based on settings. So anything in the real world or a variation would be Realistic. Regardless of whether you replaced all of humanity with elves, orcs, and dragons. If they're all living in Chicago, IL than they're in a Realistic Setting.

Same concept if your characters are human who have cars and computers and live in a totally made up world of Hexon where all electricity is replaced by a semi-sentient magical power source than they're in a Fantasy Setting.

The easiest way I have found to remember which genre is to ask yourself where the Setting falls in the categories below.

Does It Take Place In A Version Of Our Real World - It's Realistic
Does It Take Place In A Made Up World ( Maybe With Magic, But No Futuristic Stuff )- It's Fantasy
Does It Take Place In The Far Future, Space, Or Made Up Futuritistic/Alien World - It's Futuristic
Does It Involve Characters/Worlds/Settings From Published Works - It's Fandom
Does It Involve Two Or Three Players - It's OnexOne
Does It Involve Dice Based Systems - It's Dice

Quests are a bit hard to explain and I'm still not clear on what Nation Builders are
