Nervous and excited. Please say hello!

KappaKween

Hey you, the kid with the face... Stay classy. ;)
For the past couple weeks in the deep dark depths of the back of my mind, the thought to join a roleplay community has sprouted from the darkness and into the recognizable and memorable areas of my brain.

The last time I roleplayed I was likely 10 years old and it was on Neopets in their roleplaying forums. I never roleplayed about Neopets though. I always enjoyed making original characters and stories with people versus basing everything off existing ones, but I had fun with existing ones too. I remembered emailing back and forth with a friend with a story we had going and that was a lot of fun too. But as I grew older and became more mature roleplaying naturally drifted away from me and dove into the deep ocean of my mind and hadn't resurfaced until late.

Anyways, now I'm 23 and for some reason super nervous now that I've joined a roleplaying site. This feels like I'm back at my computer as that 10 year old bright eyed and imaginative kid versus who I am today.

My fingers have been itching to write for a long time and having someone there who is encouraging and blossoming their own ideas based on my work and vice versa sounds like a fantastic escape from my monotonous every day life.

So, here I am.

My name is Sabrina, and I'm here. My fingers are cold and my hands are shaking, but I'm here. And I'm not turning back, so please... please introduce yourselves and open your doors into a world I've missed and buried deep for a long time.

We welcome you with open arms, Sabrina! It's amazing to hear that you've been roleplaying since age ten! I can already see your writing style is amazingly detailed, which is (oddly) uncommon in the newer batch of role-players. I'm Raymond, or Ray for short.

Nice to meet cha!

Hi Ray. You may call me Sabrina or Kappa. If Kappa is easier to remember I will not be offended! It's what I'm called by gamers that I play with and many of my in real life friends that game with me as well.

Ah, thank you! I've actually been role playing longer than since age ten. I think I actually started writing when I was six or seven and wrote a lot of fan fictions online on various fan fiction publishing sites. Because of the itching feeling I've been having lately I actually went back and read some of my old fan fictions and needless to say they were obviously written by someone that young.

Something I pride myself on when I write in role plays and stories is the level of detail I provide. I enjoy letting my brain and heart flood to my fingertips and release everything they can to the page.

Welcome to RPN! I'm Kestrel, but you can call me Kes if you want. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Enjoy your stay!

Oh geebus. My nickname is that guy's face. Oh gosh. I recognize him.

I'm amused by your copy-pasta techniques, but I absolutely appreciate the response.

I'm kinda busy, since I should be doing homework, but I'm procrastinating. It is really amazing that you've been RPing for so long. I started almost a year ago.

Hah. I just got finished doing makeup homework from when I was recovering from my surgery. I'm technically still recovering but ah well. Procrastination often proves to have excellent results if you're writing a paper. And yea thank you. I've enjoyed every moment of role playing. The only downside is I often become so absorbed and detailed in a story that if someone doesn't write a lot back it drives me up the wall. In example, if I write a two paragraph response with wonderful detail and the response I get is a sentence or two that's practically void of anything I'm basically at a stand still. I feed off of what others write and if I get nothing I really can't give anything.

Did you start almost a year ago on this site?

Sorry to hear you had surgery. I hope you get better soon. I do procrastinate a lot, though. It doesn't help that I'm supposed to do research online, which is where I get distracted most. Yeah, those one sentence responses irritate me, too. No, one of my best friends thought I'd like roleplaying since I love to write. We started a 1x1 via email last May (I think?). I loved it, he introduced me to RPN, and here I am! Our original 1x1 is still alive and well, so we feel super accomplished about that.

Oh it's okay. It was a nerve wracking experience and painful enough that when I first got up out of the hospital bed I vomited from the nausea caused by the pain. Not like you needed to know that but it's a detail that could be appreciated by someone.

Ah, yea doing research online is the bane for me. What I end up doing is going on YouTube to play game music soundtracks and get distracted by other videos and realize two hours later that I haven't done anything but the initial Google search.

That's wonderful that you still have a 1x1 going. I'd love to have the opportunity to do something like that with someone! I really hope that this site proves to be something that works for me. I've really missed role playing and despite being extremely nervous to start or join one I really want to!

In addition to the above in which you may respond, do you have any advice or recommendations for me for this site?

Ouch. That doesn't sound good. Those details don't particularly gross me out, though.

Same thing with researching, though.

As far as advice goes, I don't think there's anything overly abnormal. If a RP is closed, don't try to join, no godmoding, etc. I would recommend hitting up the Interest Check section for roleplays to join.

Are you challenging me to gross you out? Just kidding. Oh I'm nearly fully recovered. I just have some restrictions and limitations at this point. I ended up with five abdominal incisions and the worst pain I'd ever had in the past was likely my wisdom teeth being taken out and that was only throbbing pain for a day or so, so I was pretty seriously shocked by the pain levels I had post-op. My husband and I have a few stories to laugh at now though with all my crankiness in the hospital and my version of stories versus his due to pain and such.

So what are you having to research?

Ah, but I'm so nervous. D:

Don't be nervous. I don't bite.

If you want to try and gross me out, go ahead. I've worked at a vet clinic for almost 6 years, and I spent 4 years at a raptor rehabilitation center.

In my math class, we have to plan out a budget for a month, so I'm supposed to be looking up a house and a car for sale, calculate the payments, and write a paper about it. The paper will most likely be why I fail at adulting.

But one does not simply post in a forum thread that they want to role play!

Oh no. I can get descriptive but if I wanted to gross you out I would be going beyond PG-13 which isn't allowed. Yea... that's right. I read the thingy that has the information about things. Besides, grossing someone out isn't as fun as filling them with wonder.

Whaaaaat? That sounds so easy though. I think I need to check your adult-o-meter to make sure it's receiving fuel. Although it could be hard to write a paper about adultness if you lack the knowledge of these adult things anyway. Do you own a vehicle? A home or apartment? Do you pay bills? Do you have the dreaded.... STUDENT LOAN DEBT?!

Not yet, but I will. After I graduate, I plan on going to vet school. Good that you read the rules. As for the project, it's tedious, and I don't particularly like math. I think my teacher is just trying to prove to a group of high school students that we will use algebra after we graduate.

You will use algebra if the job requires algebra. Unless you're going medical, which you are, or something engineering related you don't often use algebra or higher level math courses. I've taken calculus, trig, stats, and other math courses that I never use. In fact the only math I think I've used in my jobs is basic math for unit conversions with imperial to metric, and that was in the medical field.

Yup, that's what the vet I work for told me.

Hello! I am Rosaline but you can call me Rosa or Rosie.(^U^)

I am also quite new to this site and very nervous about Roleplaying on here. (x_x)

It is pretty exciting that you want to be a vet. It sounds silly but I love animals and knowing there will be another person out there to ensure the health of pets and animals makes me pretty stoked. Haha.

Ah hi Rosie! It's the name I naturally typed first so that's honestly what I'd probably stick with. Have you managed to join a role play at this point? I've been so busy with catching up with homework that I've been unable to but I hope to soon!

No I haven't been able to join one. I hosted two but everyone is ignoring them
