Shadowborn Omen
A White Wolf
Character thread is up here!:
Official lore is in the link below, the stuff written here has been reworked!:
There has been a fragile and shaky piece between the Five Great Shinobi Nations for decades, ever since Pain’s failed assault on Konohagakure. Pain’s death spelled the end for the Akatsuki as the Shinobi world knew them, and they quickly dissolved. All remaining major threats to the peace of the world were either eliminated or fell silent.
While relations between the Nations aren’t necessarily friendly, nothing more than petty squabbles and the usual cycle of distrust have occurred in generations. Recently, however, all communication from the Land of Lightning has ceased. After nearly a month of complete silence, many villages throughout the nations began to receive cryptic messages with outlandish demands and alarming threats. However, the most concerning part of these messages were that they referenced items or people that no one outside the nation they belong to should know about their existence, or their whereabouts. All of the messages contained one constant: all of the demands were to be sent to Kumogakure.
As outlandish as the demands and the threats are, the suspicious knowledge of the writers of these messages aroused concern in the intelligence communities in the nations. So far, the demands within these messages have been ignored. The Great Shinobi Villages, excluding Kumogakure, have agreed they should begin planning an investigation mission among the four of them in order to assess the situation. However, these efforts have not yet come to fruition, and no team has yet been assembled. It has been two weeks since the messages began to be received by villages, and as of yet no further attempts of communication have been made by the message writers. However, that will soon change, and the next method of communication will be much less diplomatic.
This is just a check for initial ideas and to read you peoples’ thoughts. If you’re interested, continue reading.
This roleplay takes place in an alternate universe branching from the end of Pain’s Assault arc. It is generations in the future, and no named characters in the original Naruto universe are still alive, but their descendants are. Clans have mixed, disappeared, come anew. We will start in Konohagakure (The Village Hidden in the Leaves) specifically. If you’re interested in making a character and playing them from another village, let me know here. As time goes on, if there’s enough interest in a certain village, I’ll open up character creation for that village and start a game from there. I will likely let character from other villages join the roleplay eventually regardless (once the Konohagakure Shinobi go to other nations), but I won’t be accepting large volumes of character from outside Konohagakure unless there’s enough interest to start a game specifically from that village.
As far as character creation, try being creative! I’ll be accepting Shinobi of vast different skill levels, so don’t feel like you’re pressured to make some insanely powerful ninja. In fact, I’m not looking for one man armies in this roleplay. Kekkei Genkai are fine, but keep a cap on it! I don’t want one shinobi with 3 Kekkei Genkai! 2 MIGHT be accepted on a case-by-case basis if it doesn’t make the shinobi insanely powerful. For those who are interested, you can get a skeleton for your character by using this:
Is your character from a named clan? If so, which?:
Jutsu Releases, Kekkei Genkai, or special arts/abilities:
Earned Rank:
Ratings-
Chakra Control:
Chakra Pool:
Strength:
Speed:
Durability:
Utility:
Use a scale of 0-10 on your ratings. These represent your shinobi’s effectiveness in categories in relation to other shinobi. A rating of 0 is abysmal. A rating of 3 is below average, but not necessarily poor. A rating of 5 is average, and is nothing to be scoffed at. A rating of 7 would be above average, but not exceptional. A rating of 10 would be flawless. Use these as guides. These numbers will be added together to determine a ninja’s Shinobi Effectiveness Index, which ranges from 0 to 60. An average ninja will have an SEI of 30, anything above 42 is considered good, anything below 20 is considered poor.
Note - these numbers don’t define your character. They are more like a performance review given by a superior. An ANBU Jonin might be the best of the best, but they’ve still got to be put on paper to be filed against the others. These numbers aren’t concrete, a character with a low score in a specific stat might be able to perform above their rated skill in that category every once in awhile, and over time characters can grow (or falter). A quick description of these stats follows:
-Chakra Control is a rating on how well your character can control and manipulate their chakra with precision. If your character manipulates and creates their own jutsus, as opposed to using jutsus created by others, they likely have high chakra control. This rating could also be used for taijutsu or weapons that rely on chakra channeling, ninjutsu requiring precision, or genjutsu.
-Chakra Pool is a rating on how much chakra your character has before they need to rest. Every ninja can train to increase their chakra pool, though this takes time and dedication. Chakra pool will also naturally grow, and will increase with stamina.
-Strength is a fairly straightforward one, characters that are effective in using jutsu or weapons that require brute force likely have a high strength rating.
-Speed is not necessarily how fast your character can move, but how agile they are. All ninjas can move relatively quickly, but can your character use that speed to their advantage? More dexterous weapons or fighting styles will appreciate more speed.
-Durability is a rating on how much your character can take before they punch out. Sure, an agile ninja may be able to avoid being hit most of the time, but once you get hit, how long are you going to stay standing? Note that most ninjas have a remarkable ability to stay standing. A low rating on this doesn’t necessarily mean your character will quit because of a paper cut. Just like in any other category, a 5 is average for other shinobi, not people in general. So use that as your guide.
-Utility is an odd one to describe. Use it for all skills that don’t fit above. A general rule is to use this as a general rating for how useful your character is in combat other than what’s covered above. For example, medical knowledge, genjutsu, or even summoning jutsu (as an example, the Leaf Hokage is a shinobi with exceptional summoning skills, and he’s got a maxed out utility score because of it!)
