Naruto: Kakureyami

Thanks: I'll assume late 1600s for mathematics, which is about good enough for long range artillery accuracy [though, how Naruto has radios, televisions, computers et al without general relativity and late-19th century mathematics is beyond me]

Also, I responded to Kenji's actions, and probably precipitated conflict with him that may be against his character, if you are planning on directing it yourself [which I heartily encourage].

Are you going to change Kenji's actions and thus have me redo my post, or are you going to keep it as it is?

I'm going to keep it as it is because that was pretty much the route I was going to go in my next post anyways.

Alright I'm back from the dead I'll have a post up shortly. @Thesmashbro not much has happened, they have only just begun training out on the plains outside of the refugee camp.

So is Kenji's training style the norm for Naruto, and is it accepted by the leadership, or is he just crazy?

He is currently threatening to murder fellow soldiers in a scenario where manpower is incredibly hard to come by, and is telling us, a group of a dozen capable individuals to try and get a mask off him through whatever means necessary. This to Itsuki is as irresponsible as something can get: Kenji has already severely hampered the ability of the group to continue a mission by rendering one of our party so wounded that he has passed out by blood loss, and has probably suffered a great deal of internal organ damage that will take more than one day to heal. The test is not testing out ability to use deadly force against an enemy, but against a friend, which are very different scenarios and the capability of a character to do one is most likely not indicative of the other.

I assume the group was determined before this, so Kenji is testing us for no reason, seeing as we would not have been picked if we were not thought capable by the leadership, unless this is their selection process, in which case why are they doing it the day before the operation and not weeks in advance to allow for in-depth planning?

Would it be ridiculous for Itsuki to go to his superiors and report Kenji for these actions, thinking they are not the norm, or is this just how ninja are led after the war?

@kira blackthorn No because Kenji's chakra is controlling the water, not rins.

@Pentagon okay first of all I would not have stabbed Ookami's character had I been controlling Kenji, I would have just kicked him to the ground. The test is like a graduation test almost, to completely make sure your ready and to see how you work together in a group as most people's characters, as show from their introductions, trained with out the company of those who would be going on the mission with them. If a group of Ninja's who are about to go out and fight with their life on the line cannot accept the fact that the person training them is threatening their lives to make sure the are 100% ready, if they cannot accept their lives are in danger now how will they be able to go out and fight the next day when they will be facing new enemies and their lives will be even more in danger. And this is not necessarily their selection process, but almost like the second part of it, which is where they identified those with the necessary skills, but they need to make sure before they go that they are 100% ready, and that's basically what this test is doing.

Oh, so if the test is not passed, then the mission will not happen? That is OK then, as any injuries can just be healed up in between the test being passed and the mission starting, if it is passed at all. I was under the impression the mission would happen regardless of the result of the test, my bad.

Though, I have to ask: many of us are over twenty years old, and would have been ninja before the Kage fucked everything over. Itsuki at least was a Genin in the war, and would have been fighting on and off for the last decade. Does the ruling council really not trust in the adults yet? I understand if they are looking to ensure team cohesion, but dedication and ninja acumen surely would have been proven or at least gained conclusively in ten years of guerrilla warfare.

Awwwwww, I was hoping that people would be ok with Itsuki being able to know where people were within the mist [give or take a few meters], was hoping I made it clear that he was 1. a few hundred meters away, at the edge of the forest, making the sonic boom not particularly loud at all, and 2.he was being double cautious not to endanger anyone with a piece of metal: that would be completely ABSOLUTELY against the character I am trying to establish as a person unwilling to risk the safety of his team.

Well, the airburst will not spread out very much in the fractions of a second, and if I knew where people were vaguely I could afford to budget several meters and not hit people, trading accuracy and likelyhood to hit Kenji for absolutely ensuring that I will not endanger people.

Sorry Kanra, didnt mean to do that. Im back from the slavery that has been my busy work schedule. I didn't see much posting from wednesday and couldn't post as work was keeping me away but im back

Lol. Kenji may be a pretty mean character, but I can't help but feel like we're bullying him a bit too much. ^^;

Oh come now no one has even tried to use the secret finger technique A Thousand Years Of Death on him yet.

Haha, Chiaki not the type to do that =P

Well, now that I'm thinking about it again, Kenji hardly got hurt. Chiaki only bound him and aimed for the mask--meaning he probably got hit by Itsuki's epoxy shots which shouldn't hurt to bad. Shinra's the only one that fired rapid assaults at Kenji+stuck chakra draining tag on him. And since Kenji stabbed Shinra, it's a pretty fair trade^^

My notifications for the IC seem to have stopped themselves, can anyone summarize what's happened so far?

We've just been kicking the shit out of Kenji for inadequate reasons, about to go on an important mission. You've not missed much, things are about to get super good though, I can tell.

thank you, i've been glancing through it, i guess i'll just come in as soon as Kenji is beaten

May I apply an npc even though I have no idea whether or not I'll have her appear in this arc? Depends on how the rp plays out I suppose.

She's Chiaki's master and I want to have her show up at the refuge camp at some point.

Sorry for not responding very much this week, I've been a little busy, so I'll try to end this arc off soon so we can advance with the roleplay.

Is...

Does Aki have a problem with my charrie?

I think she does...

Or will soon...

I have been also busy working so please do forgive me for posting so sporadically
