Fantasy Mytho-pocalypse: An idea I randomly had in the shower and have to put to paper before I forgor

So humans get attacked by aliens- aliens are smart and create zombie virus to destabalize while also disabling most electronics, causing natural disasters and the like. Humanity is screwed and the aliens are still just watching from their ship deciding when to attack. Gods wake up and fight em' would use the actual versions of gods- like the Loki who fucked a horse as a horse, Thor who crossdressed as wife to get hammer back, Horny Zuess, Hades who isn't a villain, etc. For reasons gods have been stuck in mortalish bodies (Unkown trader god does so) Hades managed to raise a few heroes from the dead from history and mythology- could have george washington fighting alongside Hercules- idk this is all rambling becuase I need to leav e soon and randomly got this idea

I will be refining this- but players will play the depowered gods and demi gods- cept' zeus, he is in horny jail

This sounds interesting. My one question is just what pantheons of gods are we allowed to play as? You mentioned Greek and Norse Gods in your opening post, but would things like Egyptian, Aztec, Chinese, etc. gods be playable?

I’m surprised Zeus didn’t try to bed the aliens the moment they arrived.

I like it, Lincoln was a vampire slayer too, maybe some Eastern Gods show up, I wouldn’t mind seeing a thing where they gotta get the gang back together, like Jupiter and Neptune going around, seeing their old frenemy Ahura Mazda.

Yea, I did a lot of Roman History in college, so in my mind I just default to the Roman names.

I'm picturing it now, like that restaurant scene from the Blues Brothers, Ahura Mazda and Angra Mainyu run are competitors with their own Persian restaurants, Jupiter goes in to Ahura Mazda's and turns into various animals to try and seduce the patrons. He will only leave once Mazda joins his team. Angra Mainyu has one opened across the street that is a shameless ripoff, like a one letter difference in the name, Poseidon goes in and threatens to call the Health Department or something on him.

So was there any skills you thought the various mortal gods could have? You already put them all in the Jesus position of becoming a man, so what are they good at, I don't suppose they have god powers, so no turning into animals.

I would say they would have minor effects from their old god powers like Poseidon breathing under water and having minor water manipulation- Vulcan making minor magic weapons
