Upon meeting Rumour, most people would describe her as dark, mysterious, secretive, and probably strange. Though each one of those traits are somewhat true, Rumour is much more than simply that. She is an observer and a listener. You will often catch her daydreaming or muttering to herself, which causes some individuals to come to the conclusion that she is quiet possibly insane, though she's really just trying to answer some of the deeper questions of the universe, or perhaps chanting spells and incantations under her breath so as to memorize them. Rumour has very conflicted emotions when it comes to helping and trusting people. She feels uncomfortable and wrong saying or doing malicious things to others, but that's what her parents have trained her to do. She tries to be kind and compassionate but sometimes slips up and says something rude without thinking. Rumour often keeps to herself to avoid embarrassing herself or insulting someone else. She feels very lonely, even if she is around people. She has a hard time figuring out how to socialize with them, how to talk, what to say. It's as if she can't make a connection with them. She finds it very frustrating and gets upset with herself for not being able to act like a normal person should.


History/Background


Rumour grew up in a cottage in the middle of a forest with her mother and father. She is descended from a long line of witches and warlocks with dark intentions. Her mother and father practice black magic, using sorcery only to help themselves or hurt others for no reason other than their own sick enjoyment. From a very young age, they made it crystal clear that Rumour was to follow in their footsteps with no exceptions. Rumour has always felt as if what her parents do is wrong, but she knows they will punish her rather severely if she so much as voices her opinion to them. When she is around them, she does as they say, but when she is alone, she practices other sorts of witchcraft that have to do with nature and light, casting charms of good intentions and luck on people she would see on the rare occasions when she was allowed to leave her home without the supervision of her parents. Her parents grew suspicious as Rumour began to act kinder and less willing to cause trouble or start conflict, and they started following her out of the house to see where she went. When they found out she was doing good deeds and helping people, - and normal people, at that, they weren't even magical! - they were outraged. They locked Rumour in a dark room with no windows and only fed her once a day, speaking of how ugly she was, how awful a daughter she had become, that she was an embarrassment to their family name. During the time Rumour was basically being held captive by her parents, she worked on her spell-casting abilities, becoming increasingly claustrophobic, scared, and sick the longer she was in the darkness. When she was finally 'released', she started packing her things, planning to run away, and that's exactly what she did. In her final act of rebellion towards her family, and to distance herself from them, she changed her last name from Dissonantia, which means discord and chaos, to Solita, which means alone.
