"Hey! Hey, relax!"
Kazuhiko's familiar panicked cry snapped Akiyama away from her pleasant daydreaming just as her claw whizzed an inch away from his hair.
"Ah...Sorry," she apologetically mumbled, quickly retracting her arm, returning it to it's natural position, coiled at her side.
She stood in awkward silence for a moment, eerily watching Kazuhiko as he regained his footing. With no response given, Akiyama assumed that she had earned his forgiveness, and turned away, preparing to take a few steps back to avoid anymore accidental collisions with her classmates.
Instead, to her surprise, as she'd taken her first step, Kazuhiko called out to her, asking for her to be his sparing partner.
Is he mad that I almost hit him? She wondered to herself.
Looking back over her shoulder at the boy she'd nearly struck, his face giving away as much information about his emotional state as her own. If he was angry about it, there was no way for her to tell.

Then again, it didn't really matter for her; over the break, after much deliberation and a talk from her old coach, she'd resolved that she would tackle the biggest weakness she had displayed during her fight with Reggie; she needed to learn how to fight outside of a ring, and put what she'd learned over the course of three years to use.
Turning the rest of her body to face Kazuhiko, Akiyama responded with a simple "Okay," followed by an inquisitive "What did you have in mind, Kazu?"

Luka's glazed eyes slowly focused on his energetic friend as he stood up with Rosen's assistance, allowing the blood to rush to his legs as he allowed his head to focus. His hand brushed slightly against his cheek, his golden hair pushed along the side on his expressionless face before finally giving in to a small grin.
"Couldn't have you dead on our first field trip, could I? How else would I get my entertainment around here?"
His eyes broke off for a moment to scan the surrounding area, looking at the others who were now starting to group up. He gave himself a small sigh of relief, knowing that he was lucky that Rosen chose him. Now the boy would actually have to be motivated to participate in the event. He looked down at his suit, which was a simple mesh jumpsuit with an oxygen tank on the back that was strapped to a small mouth mask that hung from his neck. The golden-brown uniform shimmered in the sun, matching the anime glare of Luka's glasses as he questioned Rosen.
"If we're working together though, let me get one thing straight. Can you swim?"

Before the boy could get an answer, however, another pair of students strolled up to them. It was Shin, the foreign exchange student who was also from America. He knew that his body was unique, and he was basically a portal human. Claire seemed to be paired up with him, which Luka could already see a very potent and troublesome duo. Claire's powerful attacks equipped with a spacing quirk would make them quite difficult to deal with. Luka smiled as the two challenged the golden-blonde duo.
"Yeah, let's do it! You ready, Rosen?"

"Oh awesome..." Kazuhiko begins, thinking for a second, slightly upbeat (a solid 4/10), glancing between Akiyamas compound insect and human eyes awkwardly.

"I'm working on this new thing and... Well you have training weights on, I think" he states, not 100% sure on the function of Akiyamas metal adornments.

"Better we practice together than fight one of the psychopaths going one hundred percent" he explains with a chuckle, right hand drifting to the back of his head, laughing at his own joke, glancing to Jane and Rosen who (in his opinion at least) were most likely to fight at full force in the exercise.

"And I can take hits with my quirk so... It would be good for your training to fight a punching bag like me. Plus you're really agile, and I need to work on my speed" he finishes with a shrug.

"...Makes sense." Akiyama replied, gazing down at the weights on her arms.
She was impressed that he was able to tell what they were from just a simple glance.
Perhaps he'd had some experience with them as well?
The thought troubled her, both because it meant that Kazuhiko might be more experienced than she'd realized, and more importantly, because she thought she was the first person in the class to put such a technique into practice.
It made her all the more hesitant to ask him a question she had on her mind.
After another bit of awkward silence, Akiyama finally asks,
"...But, could you maybe do me a favor, and come at me like you were going a hundred percent?"
Looking down at her clenched fist and tucked-in claw with eyes that didn't betray the feelings of doubt she was feeling, she adds,
"I still need to get used to fighting other people outside, and I don't think I can learn that by just punching you."
---
Once the two had claimed an adequate space to begin their training, established their ground rules, and touched gloves, Akiyama took a fair amount of distance away from her opponent, and began quietly repeating the words of advice she had received during her break,
"Don't try to think of it as a street fight, just try to remember the ring..."
Her mind visualized the small, comfortable ring she'd trained in with Coach Mushi, her hero costume was replaced with her familiar training gear, and the grassy field now may as well have been on another planet.
Feeling a lot more comfortable, she curled her body into her signature fighting stance, unconsciously reciting the steps that had been hammered into her brain.
"Feet spread...thumbs at your mouth...be as small of a target as possible..."
As her head began to rhythmically sway back and forth, tracing a small 'infinity' symbol in the air, she continued,
"...Weave your head...get your rhythm...And then..."
Instinctively, her feet focused all of her weight on the tips of her toes.
The glare coming from her twin sets of eyes sharpened, focusing on the boy in front of her with laser-like intensity.
Every muscle coiled into a tight spring, tensed in anticipation of what would come next.

"...Attack!"
On her queue, her light body charged forward, propelled by nothing but the tips of her toes. All of the muscles in her body released their tension, funneling all of their pent-up energy into her left claw, sending a terrifyingly fast jab across the grassy field, aimed with pinpoint precision at Kazuhiko's nose.

Rosen couldn't help but grin a bit wider, pearly white teeth exposed as Luka revealed his intentions in saving him. Nodding at that, enjoying having someone to always challenge him, even if he'll never say it out loud. As the urban surfer got to his feet and asked the question about swimming he rose a confused brow for a second. Trying to imagine where the question had come from, and before he could realize he turned his attention to the couple of guys approaching them. Hearing the request to partner up against him, he was a bit disappointed he couldn't take Claire as a partner, they could smash the competition working together. Then again he and Luka where pretty strong heroes-in-training as well. He gave a nod at that, "You sure you want to go up against us?" He placed his hands on his waist, glancing back to Luka, he finally noticed the oxygen tank on his back, realizing what he must have asked, he hid the worry in his eyes at being covered in melted concrete.

"You guys are so going down." He continued to play it cool, happily going along with this pairing, giving Luka a victory here might make it up to him for needing his help back in that villain encounter.

Meanwhile Akuma seemed to be caught in somewhat of a daze, staring toward the grasshopper girl, thinking about how cute of a couple they could be, green and red, it was like christmas colors, and who doesn't like christmas? As he shook himself out of it, he noticed he turn away with Kazuhiko, frowning a bit as he felt himself fill with jealousy. How were so many of these other guys so natural at speaking to the girls? He looked around at who was left to pair up with, biting his lip as he wondered who was still available, he sure waited till the last minute. Girls distracting his brain as usual. It seemed Jane was still waiting for a partner too... it might be good practice to fight her... but she still kind of scared him. She might end up killing him and something told him she wouldn't feel sorry about it.

Catching sight of his dragon compadre, the small red demon approached, "Hey Benjiro!" He called to him, "Wanna team up!?" He wondered, flexing an arm to show that he's been working out some and has formed some muscle at least.

The dragon boy looking a bit confused at first, raising an eyebrow, as he looked over to the girl Akuma was looking toward before. Realizing what happened he decided to give a grin and a thumbs up, "Sure thing! I could use a partner in this excersize. You'd be the perfect one to guard by body." The demon giving a pleased grin at that, now if Jane is the only other option, they might, maybe, stand a chance.

At Akiyamas request Kazu nods, unsurprisingly taciturn, stretching his neck from side to side as the girl walks out onto the field, creating space between the two.

"Like a river, flowing with speed, white water... fast but steady" he thinks, activating his quirk, prepping a counter to the coiling Akiyama who bundles like a spring, ready to fire across the field.

"Like a river"

BANG!

And it's on, like a projectile fired from a cannon, the Human-Mantis hybrid shoots across the field.

"She's fast!" thinks Kazu, raising forearms, intercepting the blow. Despite his face being spared, his arms feel the strike, sure to bruise and stinging with pain, his quirk doing a poor job of absorbing the attack, new style serving as a detriment.

"God I suck at this" he thinks, depressed. Sure he had succeeded in practice, with time to focus and prepare, but in battle? It was an uphill sprint, and because of his quirks failure he lacked power to flip into a complete attack.

Forcing the 3% gathered from Akiyama into his right fist he steps in, trying to press the action, firing a looping right hand punch. It wasn't pretty, readable for sure, but it would pack a punch. Against a speedy opponent like Akiyama, landing such an attack was unlikely, however, hit or not it could buy time to build up flow state.

Akiyama's claw connected solidly with Kazuhiko's forearm, sending a gratifying feedback that tremored all throughout her arm.
She may not have hit her mark, but the jab she'd thrown still served it's purpose; she had manged to hit something solid, and that was enough for her to get a rhythm going.
So far, so good. she noted to herself, using the momentum of her claw bouncing off of her opponent's defense to hasten it's return to her side.
Evidently, Kazuhiko wasn't in the mood to wait for her to strike again, and was taking advantage of her overstretched left claw to press forward, winding up a telegraphed, full-powered right swing.
Instinctively, Akiyama's entire upper body tilted to the side, swaying away from the oncoming fist like a reed being pushed by the breeze.
Her flexible spine shifted the momentum downward, and then to the side, her antennae scrapping across his arm as she ducked beneath the devastating blow, reemerging on the other side of his elbow.
Meanwhile, her legs worked separately from her upper body, taking advantage of the opening he had created to dance around to his exposed right flank, until she was nearly at his back.
The thought of taking the opportunity to nail him with a right straight briefly crossed her mind; from this position, he wouldn't have any way of seeing it coming.
But if he does...and he avoids it... Akiyama nervously thought to herself.
Although she'd dodged that right swing, the passing gale she felt overhead was a clear enough warning that she should avoid them at all cost.
Taking a large hop back to reestablish a comfortable distance between herself and her opponent, Akiyama tightened her stance, and quietly resolved,
Take it slow...Try to get a feel for him first...
Coiling up her left claw again, Akiyama fires off another quick left jab, it's target Kazuhiko's head.
However, this time, as her left claw extends, her right claw tightens close to her chest, preparing to deliver an unpleasant surprise when Kazuhiko charges towards her again.

Setting: Practice Field
Shin looked towards Claire gauging his reaction to their opponents' taunts. Reassured by Claire's expression, he looked back at the duo replying to Rosen "Of course, doubt is the same as defeat in combat."
After a small bow to signal the start of combat, Shin moved suddenly, trying to surprise his opponents and attract attention away from Claire. He surged forth, feinting with a jump to the right, only to use that extra impact against the ground to leap to the left by stretching his legs. As he moved to the left, he stretched his right arm out, swinging it like a whip at his opponents. He planned to use a trick he learned sparring at Magnus that worked well against less experienced opponents, flicking it downwards at the last moment to attack below his opponents' guards. He'd noticed that people had difficulty blocking and avoiding attacks from unexpected angles and typically expected punches to target their upper bodies.

Claire Bishop +++A Little Competition!+++

Stuck in his P.E clothes, the young lad played wing-man for a bit, simply going along with whatever happened next. The tour was a disaster, and one that practically scarred him. "Claire, I need your power for this one!" On repeat since the day it happened, the voice of his classmate distorted and warped over the time the children were given. At one point the voice became a choir, every tone hellbent on making Claire do something; First would come the screams, then the explosions, then a bloodied version of himself standing before him would grab hold of his collar and glare into his eyes, and finally the scene would end. He remembered talking to his father about it after he healed whatever minor injuries he had, the man bringing up the mental detriment his Quirk was capable of. That's right, if he was angry his power would echo that, same with any other emotion. Hence why maintaining a state of calm was the key to controlling such power. Of course absorbing too much light or darkness at the slightest hint of excitement would only change with practice.

Intensely staring at his folded fists, he barely noticed Rosen and Luka. Air passed through his lungs as he took it all in, the small exchange between temporary foes and partner just noise in the background. Wings just as big as he was, Claire leapt back unto one of them the moment Shin launched his attack. The plan was simple, he would distract, and Claire would capture. That wasn't going to limit his options though, as if opportunity arose, he was going to wipe them out.
