In verum, decor.
Most of these are Modern, or Modern Fantasy. The GAARD, MARV, and Subject 52 are futuristic fantasy, Sullivan and Phoenix are Victorian gents, and the rest are all basically Modern.
I do write in first person, past tense, so just be aware of that, okay?
Anything that has a green title is something I'm particularly looking for right now. Why green? Why not?!
Below is a list of current plots. I have others, and other ideas, but I don't want to flood this place.
The Sprksinger:
As was tradition, the day after a man came of age on Darkstone Isle, he left the peoples there to strike out into the world for one year, and one day, to see what adventure and excitement could be found; after that year and a day, he must return to complete his apprenticeship. Only when he became a full Star Tamer could he leave again once more, to do what he could, should, must; to ply his trade across the lands of Terramonde. In that year and a day, the man- the Child Of The Neardark- could do whatever he wished, so long as he did three things; he had to return within that year and a day, he could not bring anything back with him, and he must never speak a word of their secrets to another.
For Malachi, that day had come.
Reeling in the catfish: He'd loved her, with all his heart. He'd given his all. Given his everything. Given her all she'd ever asked for. But they'd never met. She'd claimed she couldn't, that she was busy, tired, unable to. Eventually, tired of the excuses, he tracked her down to where she lived, using things she'd told him. And find her he did. Except...she wasn't her. And he wasn't going to let her get away with it.
Changr, the app for everyone: Everyone knew he was a little weird, but nobody ever expected this of him; that one day, he'd create a little piece of technology that could alter reality itself, could alter people, physically and mentally. Nobody could have expected he'd use it in the ways he did, or to do the things he did; least of all his best friend. Or perhaps that should be 'his best victim'.
The Lookalike Escort Agency: The agency was a little beyond the tastes of most, but it offered a unique selling point; every single one of its escorts, male and female, were exact lookalikes and soundalikes of celebrities; some in the city even said they were the real deal, the actual celebrities themselves, doing a little moonlighting. The services they offered were unusual, too- no one-night stands here, no sir; these men and women were available for long-term only, from short relationships to the long-haul; there was even talk of marriages, though whether those were genuine of faux, the rumour-mongers never seemed to know.
The Gambler In The Tavern:
Find, in the corner, the lone man, the smiling man, the man with a tunic as green as seawater, and a cloak as blue as night in spring. Find that man, with his silvered tongue and his honeyed words; with his mellifluous voice, and his dizzying words. Find that man, with a smile that never reaches his eyes, eyes that never seem to be the same colour twice, and hair the same shade as the Darq of D'Elloyn. Find that man, traveller, and challenge him; challenge him to whichever game you feel best at, traveller, for the stakes are high indeed. You will gamble not for wealth, nor property, nor any material possession upon this land, traveller.
You will gamble for your soul. You will gamble for your body. You will gamble for yourself.
And the gambler, dear traveller, is not known to lose.
Holding Out For A Hero: One Summer day, on his way home, he happened to do soemthing incredibly heroic that was more luck than judgement. Everyone in the small town he lived in leapt upon it, and for a long time he was treated like the hero they thought he was. Eventually he got bored of this, and as soon as the opportunity came along, he left the place for pastures new, hoping to live in anonymity in a big city somewhere.
And for a while he did.
But then a face from his past shows up, and everything he'd built was threatened.
When Eddie Met Everyone: Eddie Fuller was an average kind of guy, until he hit his twenty-fifth birthday. Then, something weird happened; he started getting into meet cutes. A lot of meet cutes. His life changed almost overnight, from the dull, average existence he'd previously forged, to one where he was living out some bizarre real-life version of rom-com movies. Was he doomed to forever meet women yet never meet the one, or would he find love in the arms of someone not utterly batshit insane?
Sweet Caroline: He was happy, and why not? He was a mildly popular DJ for the local radio station, with tens of listeners tuning in almost every time he was on. He had his own place, he had a loving girlfriend, he had a good job, great friends, and a pretty good life.
Until it was cut tragically short one day. On his way home to see his girlfriend, he got distracted, crashed the car, and died. Or did he?
Blah blah plot happens, and he gets sent back to Earth because it's 'not [his] time to go'. Which is all cool and everything, except he's been sent back right into the body of a woman. Whoops.
What'll happen when new meets old, when man meets woman, when good meets...not good? In a plot where anything can happen and frequently does, will he reunite with the love of his life, or will she find the love of hers?
A Cinematic Masterpiece: He'd found the projector at some sale, complete with collection of movies someone had lovingly transferred. He watched one, then another, then another, and discovered, to his surprise, the same woman turned up in all of them. Always in the background, always blending in perfectly, always watching him. One day, as a test, he paused the movie, got in close, and studied her.
So imagine his surprise when she spoke to him. And told him her story. And oh, what a story it was.
Spencer Moore and The MARV: a fantastical tale of technology, provides a pretty good framework for literally any kind of roleplay you could possibly think of.
If you could use a device to view any alternate reality, to be anyone, to do anything, what would you do? Who would you be?
A broken hallelujah: He's a priest going
