Idea Music For Roleplays

Hey!
I got an idea earlier today as I sat down to write some music. I'm currently working on a roleplay with another guy on this site and I decided to make like a "Film Score" for the roleplay. It actually came out a lot better than expected! Do you think adding music to a roleplay is an interesting way to "spice" it up? Is there anyone who'd like me to make one for them? =)
(I'm not sure I placed this thread under the right prefix at all.)
Here's a link to the song I made, it's for a Second World War roleplay. Please let me know what you think. =)

Oooooh! That sounds awesome! At the moment I don't have any roleplay that could use one, but I'll let you know if I ever do!

Pretty good song there, the ominous beginning ending in a more action-ish (desperate, I'd say) note are fitting for a WW2 RP. I might be wrong, but I think the voices there are russian? Nice detail.

I personally like to write a post while listening to music, usually from the same fandom of the RP, but not necessarily. It did occur to me a number of times to also include a song in the posts, as if that song was playing during (parts of) that scene, but never actually did that. I wasn't sure it would look silly to the others, and it's not exactly necessary either, but it would have helped convey the ambience I wanted.

I'm currently not in any RP right now and I'm pretty much only interested in fandom, mostly anime but also TV series, which already have soundtracks and I'm not sure they'd be interesting to make music for. It's a good offer though, and out of curiosity, what kind of information would you require from someone who did request a song?

Yeah, it's a pretty cliché build-up of the song but it came out good I think. The voices are actually German, as the roleplay will be from a German point of view. Thanks! Desperate, that's exactly what I was going for in the ending! In my head they're getting overrun and surrounded by the Russians. =)
I definitely understand what you mean by adding to the ambience you want. Music is a very good way to make everyone get the same vibe.
I would need the plot and if the person has any ideas for the song, I'd gladly take those too. =)
EDIT: Someone who requests a song should have a pretty good thought of how they want the song to sound in a basic way. Epic, sad, happy, scary etc.

Here's another one I made today, it's not for anyone's roleplay though. Just something I made that could be used in a very thrilling action roleplay.
I thought I'd share it in this post as well, if someone wants like another reference of what I can do.
The first song I posted was sad and with military sound effects in the background. This one is fast paced and without any sound effects.
Have a listen! =)

Daaamn dude!! Absolutely loved this second one!! Especially when it picked up in pace near the middle, and then the addition of even more beats near the end. Actually brought chills on my arms or its just the cold whether I dunno. But really, amazing work!

This is so wow! I can't even... you sir, are gonna be a rockstar! Or singer! Or whatever you wanna be cause you're awesome! <3<3

How do you even do these?

Haha, thank you! It truly means a lot to me! <3<3
I use a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) to record all of my music. I also have a MIDI keyboard hooked up, with this I play the strings, brass, woodwinds and piano etc. Then I just record whatever I hear inside my head. Put some effects on it such as reverb/delay and voila. Sometimes I'm done with a short piece (like the two posted) in a few hours, sometimes it can take days, even weeks. I enjoy it so much. =)

EDIT: I also record guitar via my external sound card. =)

I absolutely adore this idea, and the music you've posted here: particularly the first song. I have actually "scored" some of my roleplays before, though I didn't create any original music. I simply made a playlist of music I felt was similar to what I would have used if I were scoring like a movie adaptation of the roleplay. As someone who loves writing and also has a bit of a musical inclination, I have always been endeared by the idea of scoring my writing. When I write certain scenes, I often have a specific musical backdrop in mind as the scene is playing out in my head, if that makes any sense, haha. Anyway, I love this idea, and I enjoyed listening to your music!

I totally understand what you mean! Music adds som much to the general feel of the scene, the story, etc. I believe music is one of the best ways to get someone in to the same "mood". Thank you Memphis! =)

You're very welcome! I totally agree that music really sets the mood for a story and writing in general. I almost always listen to music when I'm writing because it gives me a sense of the atmosphere of what i'm writing and helps me set the mood and tone with my words. Sometimes I have to listen before writing rather than during, because it can be a little distracting when I'm trying to read or write, but classical is often helpful in that respect, because it offers the ambiance without the added distraction of words. Liszt is one of my favorites, because a lot of his pieces have a romantic or wistful sound to them that captures a lot of the elements I try to include in my writing, haha.

Same! I can't listen to music with words when I write because I get so distracted! I'll have to check Liszt out! =)
