Orange Soba
Drawing EVERYBODY.
Asuko straightened her uniform collar for the fifth time that morning as she took a deep breath and looked at herself in the mirror. It was her first time wearing a proper school uniform, tailored to suit a lamia, so she was naturally a little nervous. She took a couple of deep breaths and cleared her throat. It was the first day of classes at the Memorial Okayado Academy for Mixed Species, a brand new school constructed with the explicit purpose of educating human and extra species together under the same roof. It was an unheard of social experiment, but a necessary one. Since the days of the 'cultural exchange' were over and extra species were being allowed to live in human culture without the need for host families, the younger generation of extra species, if they were to fit in, would all have to be educated the same as human children. While extra species were initially greeted with curiosity and fascinated acceptance, it wasn't long before the reality of having to accommodate such diverse needs began to set in. Tax dollars were funneled into refitting buildings to be extra-species friendly. Politicians and lawyers were busy updating policies and procedures to include extra-species. Building codes had to be updated and refined. Extra species represented an enormous and costly challenge, so Asuko was quite justified in feeling more than a little nervous. She had to make the best of this opportunity, or humans would just come to distrust extra species even more.
She opened the door to her room and straightened back her hair, fixing it in place with a headband. It was against school dress code to wear excessive jewelry, but thankfully, her lamia 'snake eye' hair clips were permitted as they were a cultural accessory. She slithered out to the hallway, holding her bag, just about to head downstairs when she realized that she wasn't wearing her glasses. Yep. Pretty nervous.
(Leaving Asuko's post pretty open-ended in case one of our players does want to stick to the idea of playing her brother. Feel free to make establishing posts of your own and we'll hurry things along to meeting at the school.)
