MoEP: Dragon-Blooded

I am wondering whether to get MoEP: Dragon-Blooded. I have the 1st ed. DB book, and the 2nd ed. Storytellers Companion, so I thought I wouldn't bother with it (none of the PCs in my game are Dragon-Blooded).

But now I'm reading MoEP: Sidereals, and I find it quite nice, better than the 1st ed. Sidereals. (Though the charms could have been improved with a little extra work: added keywords, a more encompassing explanation of how the Fate keyword interacts with creatures outside of Fate, a unified way of applying/resisting some effects -sometimes you roll against Essence, sometimes against MDV, sometimes not at all- and some balance issues. Am I the only one who finds Transcendent Hatchet of Fate way too broad and too easy?)

Back on topic. Sidereals is nice, and Lunars looks nice too. How about the DB book? Is a lot different from the 1st ed. book? Is it worth having?

Depends.  Are you running or intending to run a game with DB PCs?  Are DBs a major part of your game-plan (Solars/Lunars tangling with the Realm)?  If the answers to these are no, then stick with 1e and the STC (even though the STC kind of sucks a whole mess o' dick), 'cos 1e's fluff is leaps and bounds better than 2e's, with regards to the DB books of each.

I would say yes. Firstly, with the change in abilities, having access to their War and Integrity trees is handy, even for NPCs...particullarly considering the fact a large number of Dragonblooded have at least some military training, and simply leaving NPCs without social fu defenses tends to quickly make a game uninteresting if someone makes a social twink. For Realm cultural notes, however, you are going to want the Compass of Celestial direction: The Blessed Isle at least as much as the DB book. In many areas it is far more thorough, and it corrects a number of odd clashes between editions, particularly dealing with the Immaculate Order. Personally, I find having all the MOEP beneficial, even those that are not directly necessary for PCs in my game...and I like giving people the option of playing other character types, so long as they can fit into the game in specific. A Dragonblooded PC can fill a useful role in an otherwise Celestial game quite easily. note that there are some mechanical issues with lack of keywords at times, and occasional copy-pasta that hasn't updated editions properly, but in general, the charm set is better done and organized than before. Most charms that need updating have been, and its a solid charm set.

Thanks. I am more inclined to get it now.

(I would find it odd to pay for an electronic book. And I like books as physical objects.)

So do I. I like being able to search RPG books more.
It is indeed frustrating that one cannot do automated word searches of paper documents. I might pay a little extra for getting a PDF version along with the physical book.

I should have added: "but not nearly as much as the PDFs actually cost".
