Ritzy
One Thousand Club
This is Jimmy's prologue.
“I’m sorry.”
“Haven’t you ever wanted anything more than this? We can be more, why are you so scared?”
“It was fun while it lasted, but I never wanted anything more, I just, damnit, sorry.”
The sound of running feet still lingered in Jim’s mind. He awoke with a start. No, he wasn’t back in Hell’s Kitchen, he was on the train to school. Pino was long gone, somewhere in Europe Jep told him. Making a new life for himself it seemed. He wasn’t together with him any more. It was the present and he was alone. He checked his documents again. This Principal Mouse offered him a place in this school. He half way hoped that Pino would come, but then realized it would break him again to see him. He was reassured though by Jep who told him that Pino was living with some girl in Germany. He hoped Pino was happy. Jim knew he had to find his own happiness now. He lightly touched the badge on his shirt and sighed. He was wearing a short sleeve shirt so the Blue Fairy was visible. A reminder of Pino that he couldn’t get rid of. That was his 18th birthday present from Pino. Pino was a Transgendered boy. When he became a “Real” boy he dated Jim for two years, then it was over as quickly as it started.
He didn’t know anyone at the school, but he had met a teacher, Sula Octavia came to meet him at the train station and was now sleeping peacefully opposite him. He had questions for her, but didn’t want to be a bother. He noticed there was an LGBTQ club. At least he wouldn’t be alone in the school, though who knew how many students would join the club. He sighed and sank lower into the seat. There was too many thoughts going through his head and he wished he could sleep like Professor Octavia. He looked at the map of the school. It was huge. Perhaps he could find one student among them who he could be the conscience of. If he could find someone to help perhaps he wouldn’t feel so empty inside. He was asked to the student council too. On top of that his previous school had a chapter of Psi Chi Omega, a honors frat and it seems like he was asked to lead the chapter at this new school. Good. Work would dull the pain.
The train started to slow and he saw a man holding a sign that said Crick and Octavia. He guessed they would be driving the rest of the way. The man led them to his car, the Professor wiping sleep from her eyes. This was his new life. He had to forget about Pino. He sighed and put his bags in the trunk. Too many thoughts. He sighed and sat and waited for the magic to begin.
