Mod questions! (and ongoing notes) [Chrysanthemum Petals in Rain]

You're right. I forget that the entire party is ascetic.
You always have the Yoritomo :)

And presumably the Seppun.

Imperials and Mantis should definitely get a 'Bling' advantage >.>

In the interest of saving time introducing all the random NPC's at the start of the next mod, here is a list and a quick summary of each's basic personality.

Because I know Katie will ask, all NPC's whose name is marked with a * have Dangerous Beauty.

Competitors:

Dragon:

Mirumoto Honto: (m)

Wears a subtly modified Mon of the Mirumoto Bushi school

Honto is a middle aged samurai of perhaps 35. His garments are very plain, and he carries few possessions with him at any given time. He speaks quietly, and has a hawkish look about him, as if he is sizing up every person he meets as a potential opponent. He is outwardly friendly towards all clans, but prefers the company of Dragons and Imperials to that of other clans. Will politely excuse himself from any discussions with Crabs.

Mirumoto Kyoshi: (m)

Wears the Mon of the Mirumoto Bushi school

A young man, perhaps in his early 20's. Friendly, but easily distractible with a short attention span. Kyoshi spends most of his time either playing Kemari, or conversing about swordsmanship. Will turn virtually any conversation into a conversation about Kenjutsu or about Mirumoto Honto.

Kitsuki Miyui*: (f)

Wears a subtly modified Mon of the Mirumoto Bushi school

A young woman in her late teens. Though she walks with the distinctive gait of a swordsman, she is very pretty, with her hair tied in a Maiden's foxtail. Cheerful, though not very outgoing. A vocal proponent of Kitsuki's method. Happy to have been invited to the festival, and will remark that it is much nicer than her normal posting in Scorpion lands. Does not like Scorpions. Friendly towards Imperials, or high honor PC's (with honor check all PC's and NPC's, so perceived honor influences this).

Phoenix:

Shiba Tsimaru: (m)

Phoenix Magistrate - Wears the Mon of the Shiba Bushi school, as well as a secondary mon.

Tsimaru is man obviously entering early middle-age. He has a lined face, and a prominent scar across his left cheek. He is somewhat gruff, though he speaks politely with any phoenix samurai or Imperials. Does not like Scorpions or the Crane.

Will discuss Law and History at length with anyone at all interested (and some that aren't).

Shiba Aga: (m)

Wears the Mon of the Shiba Bushi school.

A swordsman in this late 20's. Has a significant limp, though he tries to hide it. Does his best to walk without a cane, though is occasionally forced to do so. Does not talk much, though he tries to be friendly to everyone he meets. Tends to smile and lose focus during conversation. Seems "not all there".

Isawa Koji: (m)

Wears the Mon of the Isawa Shugenja school.

An Isawa shugenja in his mid teen's. 3 years past his gempukku, he has eager to prove himself, and quick to brag about his accomplishments. Will proudly state that he is an Ishiken, and a member of the earth school. Will talk about spellcraft with anyone that will listen, and barring that, with anyone that will hold still.

Agasha Hiroshi: (m)

Wears the Mon of the Agasha Shugenja school.

A man in his late 20's, and supposedly a formidable shugenja. He seems distracted, and has a short attention span. Is very bright, and will converse on any <lore skill> topics. Will remark about how he can't wait for the spellcasting competition (letting slip that there will be a spellcasting competition as part of the tournament) and how he believes he has a good chance at winning.

Crane:

Tsume Retsu*: (m)

Wears the Mon of the Kakita Bushi school.

A handsome crane man in his late teens or perhaps early twenties. By reputation a skilled duelist, though a bit of a braggart. Will converse pleasantly with any non-Lion's. In the presence of a Lion, will make Lion gibes, but will not so in mixed or non-Lion company. A pleasent conversationalist, if you enjoy listening to endless (though well told) stories about how great Tsume Retsu is. Can (though usually doesn't) discourse competently on most topics.

Kakita Tomoe: (f)

Wears the Mon of the Kakita Bushi school.

A quiet young woman in her mid 20's. By reputation a skilled duelist, though she does not often brag. Will make polite conversation, but mostly talks to the other Cranes present. Follows Asahina Oroka around, whether to serve as her Yojimbo or to keep her out of trouble is not certain.

Asahina Oroka: (f)

Wears the Mon of the Asahina Shugenja school.

A polite, but energetic young shugenja. Very outgoing and outspoken. Will talk to anyone, about anything. Will gossip constantly, whether the listener wants to hear gossip or not. Is followed around by Kakita Tomoe, who does her best to keep Oroka out of trouble, though not always successfully.

Crab:

Hida Hiroku: (m)

Wears the Mon of the Hida Bushi school, as well as a secondary mon.

A handsome (for a crab) man in his late teens. Hiroku is loud and jovial, everything one expects from a Crab. He lacks the traditional 'everyone owes me something’ attitude that characterizes most Crabs, and he is (usually) sober; a far departure from standard Crab behavior. He frequently tells jokes, and does so loudly. He is friendly towards all clans and families, though he will opine that Tsume Retsu is an idiot.

Lion:

Matsu Godaigo*: (m)

Wears the Mon of the Akodo Bushi school, as well as a secondary mon.

A stern, taciturn, honorable man who appears to be in his mid 20's. By reputation, he is a fierce warrior. He will not hesitate to make conversation and is very polite and pleasant in person, in contrast to his reputation. He will discourse on any subject on which he is engaged, though will humbly point out when he lacks knowledge on any specific topic.

Ronin:

Kaneko*: (f)

Wears no Mons.

Kaneko's looks are a prime example of crane beauty, though she does not wear their colors or mon. To say she is unpleasant to converse with is an understatement. Her wit is caustic, though thankfully for the PC's, it is virtually always turned against the Crane. She will near-constantly make jabs at the Crane from behind her fan, and is quick to take offense to any insult that a Crane or Dragon might make towards her. She will be friendly to Imperial PC's (She knows better than to offend an Imperial).

Non-Competitors:

Dragon:

Tamori Shigetoshi*: (m)

Wears the Mon of the Tamori Shugenja school.

A hatamoto to the Tamori family Daimyo, Tamori Gusuke. Shigetoshi is a very handsome man in his early 20's. He is reputed to be a skilled shugenja, though he is not entering any of the competitions here. He famously won the White Orchid shugenja competition only 9 months after his gempukku. He is friendly, and a pleasant conversationalist. Though he is the highest status Dragon present, he usually lets Mirumoto Honto speak for the clan.

Phoenix:

Agasha Sanzo, Agasha family Daimyo (m)

Wears the Mon of the Agasha Shugenja school.

Won't be seen around much, and even then will usually be too busy to talk to the PC's. However, if they do persist in attempting to speak with him, Agasha Sanzo is a friendly, affable man in his late 30's. He is a skilled shugenja, though is very humble and self-effacing. He is friendly and polite to anyone that speaks with him, unless they express anti-phoenix sentiments.

Don't worry I'm sure there will be more bandits.
Don't worry Katie, I have your back on this one.

The Yoritomo aren't bandits.

...

They're pirates.

Clearly those ones we fought were just shipwrecked, trying to get funds for another boat.
