Roxie glanced at the sun, just a small crescent in the sky as it set over the cascade of buildings. Her short dark pink hair seemed almost neon in the light and set a nice shine over the leather material of her jacket that hung loosely from her shoulders. The rooftops of her small town seemed to glow in the fading light as she paced between stores.

A loud crash crackles through the evening air as Kaine leaps back and trips over himself, falling to his back and propping himself up by his elbows to gaze at one of the now freshly scorching buildings. His angered eyes suddenly appear panicked, and he scans the area as he rolls down his sleeve over his left arm. The male soon scrambles to his feet and slowly backs away before finding that bystanders are already frightened by his presence, all of them scattering while other are dialing the police on him. Yet he remains frozen with no clue on what he should do about this situation.

Roxie whipped her gaze towards the commotion and picks out one person in the crowd, standing shocked with a fairly guilty look on his face. She runs over to him and takes his hand without a word, guiding him smoothly through the ever-growing crowd. "Are you alright? Are you hurt? You can explain this later..." she half-whispered to the boy when they were out of the main crowd.

Once he is touched, he jumps and almost hits the female. However, he freezes and shoves his left hand into his pocket, simply allowing her to guide him. There's a slight lumpin his throat in which causes his voice to crack while attempting to respond smoothly. "Uh.. Y-Yeah, can't- I mean- the people that were inside the building might not..." His emerald irises flicker back at the building that slowly crumbles by the hand of wrathful fire. He decides to remain silent and simply comply to the stranger for now.

Roxie manages to drag the boy around to the side of the building and pulls him out of sight. "People will be coming to help the people in the building, they'll be fine." She looked at the boy's jade-colored eyes with her own cyan ones. "So... what the heck was that back there... what happened?" She spoke with hushed tones.

Still, he glances behind him, as if fearful someone is to follow them. Kaine stares at the ground silently, hesitating to respond to the girl. He holds his arm with his hand anxiously. "I was... upset." His gaze returns to the female gradually, his guilt soon mixed with confusion. "...Is there a reason you're helping me?"

She gave the boy a slight smile. "I help people, it's just what I do..." With a sigh she leaned against the wall. "I've gotten a lot of people out of tight places, none quite as dramatic as this, I'll admit... although I do like a good pyrotechnics show." She gave a small smirk to the boy. "It's chill though, I like helping people out and I had nothing better to do anyway." She gave him a quirky grin and held out her hand. "Name's Roxie, Roxie Mecatti."

He chuckles nervously, breaking eye contact briefly before staring down at her hand. "...Sorry for the trouble then, yeah?" He slowly releases grip from his arm to shake her hand. "My name is Kaine- Kaine Thompson." A brief pause. "So, what am I going to do now? The police are going to come for me, aren't they?"

Roxie nodded solemnly. "That is true... Come on, I have a good place to hide." She slipped around the back way and beckoned for Kaine to follow her. (short I'm sorry)

The young man trails close behind the shorter girl, eyes surveying the area around to see exactly where they are going and that they hopefully don't get lost. The last light of the sunset is nearly no longer visible, and the word around them is now mostly enveloped in a deep shade of blue. It shouldn't be too hard to hide now. Though, this feels wrong... he can't just be caught.

They were walking for a little bit before she led him into a tall apartment building. "I live here, third floor." she said keeping her tone still semi-quiet. "You can stay here for tonight and then maybe we can figure out a more permanent solution? That is, if you don't mind..." she added quickly, trailing off slightly awkwardly.

He glances around, seeing no one around the two of them. His gaze rests on the other before nodding. "Well, I have nowhere else to go, yeah? I don't really mind." He goes silent for a while, awaiting for her to guide him to her home.

Roxie nodded as the smile returned to her face. She led Kaine up the stairs to the third floor and up to one of the doors before pulling out a room key and unlocking it. She pushed the door open to reveal a semi-cluttered room, one of the only spots of color being a small pink flower sitting in a vase. Against the white walls and the darker furniture, her hair seemed in high contrast.

He looks about the room, deciding it's rude to make commentary seeing that he's aware that the home he once lived in was quite rich compared to this. Closing the door for Roxie, it dawns on him that he's staying over night, so he searches for any articles of clothing. "Hey, you wouldn't happen to have any, uh, gloves, would you?"

"Yeah! Hold on." She disappeared into a back room for a minute before emerging with a pair of pretty sturdy biker gloves. She smiled slightly as she handed them to him. "Anything you need just ask! I guess I should show you around..." she looked around her rather small apartment. "Well you can kinda see everything, and that's my bedroom." she added, pointing at the back room she had come out of.

"Thanks." He speaks quietly, waiting for her to look away to put the gloves on. He flexes his left hand for a moment, staring at it for a while with a guilty expression before paying attention to what Roxie introduces to him. "I probably won't need anything really, but I appreciate it." He looks away, but smiles a bit first, the couch catching his eye so he wanders towards it to sit down silently.

Roxie smiled softly at the rather nervous looking boy. She quickly grabbed two water bottles from her fridge and held one out towards the boy. "You should at least have some water, you've had a long day... I still don't know what happened to make you get so upset but it must have been quite something." she added with her quirky grin.

Kaine accepts the bottle and decides to set it in his lap. He gives a half sort of smile that soon drops into a solemn gaze. He stares at his drink while swiping his thumb over the condensation to form a crude frowning face. "Well, it's sort of a stupid thing. Wouldn't want to bother you with some silly story, yeah?"

Roxie sat next to Kaine on the couch and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Well, we've got all night, and I'm up for stupid stories. But if you don't want to tell me, that's fine." She spoke in a gentle tone, trying to get the boy to be more comfortable around her. "After all, today has been kinda stressful."

By her touch, he flinches and removes her hand from his shoulder. "Please don't do that." A mumble. His gaze meets her eyes for a moment, yet he retreats to stare at the wall. Following a long silence does a sigh roll over his bottom lip. He soon speaks. "I was angry about something else, and when you're angry you do dumb things, right? Just ended up taking it out on something that didn't deserve it. I blew up half the building. Almost killed them."

"I'm sure they're fine..." she said quietly, retracting her hand. She gazed at her lap for a moment before inquiring another question, not looking up. "Do you have a place to go after this... I mean, somewhere away from the police?" She sighed slightly. "I know what's it like to run away. I think I've moved at least five times because I do the 'helping criminals' thing quite a bit... heh." She trailed off with a rather pathetic attempt at a laugh. "Everyone deserves a chance to make up for their mistakes..."

"Yeah. I have somewhere to stay, I think."

He looks towards her with a vaguely agitated expression due to her little comment. "I'm not a criminal." Voice stern, his eyes crackle with what appears to be a shimmer of lime green electricity pulsing through the veins. And so he takes in some air, soon enough he's looking away from her again. "Sorry. I didn't mean it." Following his words, he opens the bottle in his lap and takes a sip.

Roxie glanced up just in time to see the small flicker of electricity before it faded. She merely blinked and tried to ignore it. Surely she was imagining things? "I'm sorry, that's not what I meant... I shouldn't have said that. I apologize. I'm glad you have somewhere to go..." She smiled slightly as another pathetic laugh passed her lips. "Guess I'm the criminal, huh." she murmured slightly jokingly. She sighed slightly and ran a hand through her short dyed hair.

"I don't think that's true..." His voice trails off and he sets the water bottle on the ground silently. "You might actually be right though. Maybe it's wrong for me to be here." Soon quiet, Kaine falls into what appears to be deep thought. His irises flicker gently, eventually leading him into leaning on the back of the couch with a slightly bitter stare turned to the ceiling.

Roxie bit her lip slightly and fell into awkward silence, glancing around. She stood up and walked over to the kitchen, searching through the cupboards. "Do you want anything?" she inquired in a quiet tone. "Um... I have chocolate do you like chocolate?"
