Mission Prompt: All The World Is A Stage [COMPLETE]

Werner Reinhold

Werner put his hands on the curtains, hitting the bar that used to hold it suspended. "C-Calm down. I c-can... can..." His head felt heavy and his vision skipped. The next image he saw was his sister smiling, and the sun behind here. A smile crept on his face as he started to fall, his eyes closing. With a powerful thud, Werner hit the floor, not letting out a sound, barely breathing. But still, a smile was on his face.

Rex, quite frustrated with the job he had taken so far, was simply wishing for the whole thing to be over so he could find a bar somewhere and get wasted. Maybe even start a bar fight to let off some steam, that was always fun to do. The plays had been scrapped, and the stage curtains had been on fire at one point. Rex hadn't bothered to go on stage afterwards despite the fact that the two playwrights had called for everyone to come and bow. His poor mood hadn't allowed for him to do such a thing.

Even the bows wouldn't go as planned though, and with the current group of wizards, yet another disastrous snowball effect took place. It started with Nora falling off stage, and one of the mages of the other group trying to save her, only to fail miserably and crash into the curtains. Luckily, Adam had managed to save Nora, but now the same wizard that collided with the the curtains was currently trapped underneath the fallen support and wrapped within the purple silk. Though Rex was a big advocator of "being WILD!" he was, unfortunately, in no mood to deal with the chaos that this day had been surrounding this day.

Walking out onto stage with a bored expression, Rex grabbed the bar that the curtains were attached to, lifting it up as to release the person underneath. However, the mage from the other playwright's group was still tangled within the drapery. Without any further thought, Rex was about to show his recklessness.

"Sand Magic: Shredder!"

A brown magic circle appeared beneath Rex's feet, having a radius of about two meters. Slowly, sand began to emanate from within the circle, spiraling around Rex's legs as a slow turning cyclone. Within due time, however, the cyclone began to grow more violent, until it no longer rotated around its creator. The sand particles flew with great velocity towards the purple drapes that trapped Russel, not that Rex knew his name at the time, simply slamming into the curtains and dispersing soon afterwards. What remained of the curtains was simply torn silk, and that half of the stage had been damaged along with them. Rex paid no mind to that though, simply staring at the mage who was no longer stuck.

"You might wanna move so I can drop this bar," Rex stated.

Heather Lillian and Russel Lefton

Heather watched as the stage continued to resemble chaos even after their “play” had supposedly ended, and she couldn’t contain her sigh of exasperation. If it had been left up to her, she would without a doubt label this mission a failure. Their play hadn’t really been much of a play, Shakes and Peare were no doubt upset because their stage no longer existed, and the audience…. well, if they enjoyed what they had seen, then she would label them all idiots because their performance had been nothing close to the art of theater.

Her jaw dropped as a mage from the other team sent a spiraling sand vortex towards the pile of stage curtain that contained her guildmate before she ran up to the man and yelled, “Are you insane? You could’ve hurt Russel!” Heather wasn’t one to become extremely violent but even she wanted to slap this man right about now.

Turning her attention to Russel who didn’t appear injured and was now free of the curtain she held out her hand for him as she said, “Let’s get you out of there.” It was odd how much a person’s tone of voice could change depending on who they were talking to. Heather’s tone of voice was like night and day when you compared her talking to Rex and her talking to Russel.

The boy grabbed onto her hand and pulled himself out of the small crater that now existed where he had been sitting although he quickly dropped his hand out of Heather’s own. “Hold on a sec, Heather,” Russel whined. “I’ve gotta get my shoes back on!” Almost immediately after he yelled at her, Russel bent down and slid his shoes back fully onto his feet before he ran after Heather once more. She had already started walking back towards Shakes and Peare.

“Are we done now?” Heather sighed. She was really sick of this group because the mission hadn’t been anywhere close to what she had hoped it would be. “Can we go home now? I’m not even worried about payment anymore; the plays were a disaster, so we didn’t earn it from what I can see.” Turning her attention to the rest of the group she called out, "Werner?" She had intended to invite him back to Blue Pegasus with her and Russel. It had seemed, earlier, that he might have been interested in her guild. It was only when she didn't immediately see him that a panic rose within her.

Quickly, her eyes fell upon his collapsed form and she made her way over to him, kneeling by his side.
"Werner?" She gently nudged at his shoulder, hoping that he would come to.

Werner slowly opened his eyes, only to see a green field, and the clear blue sky. He looked at his clothes, then in the distance, to see something approaching him. He put his hand to shield his eyes from the sun, and he saw who it was. "S-Sis? Clover!" Werner yells.

In the meantime, in the real world, Werner was standing still, barely moving, but only a faint word escaped his lips. "Clover."

Back in the dream, he raised up, only to look at himself and see him dressed in his old clothes, the ones he used to wear back home. Werner ran to meet the person, and, he hugged it, burying his face into its shoulder. "I taught... I would never see you again..." Werner's voice was trembling, and he felt small tears forming in his eyes, dropping on the ground. "Werner. Lift your head, please." Her voice was soft as always, that only made Werner tear up more.

Werner gently lift his head, looking at her face. It was the face he saw the last time, a few years. He smiled, sniffing. "W-What is it sis?" The vision was looking happy too. "Werner. You don't need to be here. You have a job to do." At those words, Werner's smile disappeared in an instant, and he looked down. "B-But, I'll never see-" His head was lifted by her gentle hands, his gaze meeting hers. "Werner. My sweet brother. I am out there, remember that. Don't throw your real life for this."

Werner gently nodded, as the vision embraced him. "Clover. I'll find you. I swear."

With those final words, his eyes opened, as he slowly looked around, seeing Heather. He still had some tears in his eyes, but when tried to wipe them, he felt his whole body numb. Looking at Heather, he smiled. "What's with the long face?"

Heather Lillian

Heather's eyes brightened ever so slightly when Werner's eyes opened.
"Um... you kinda passed out," she remarked, unsure as to whether or not that explained the whole reason why she was upset. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that that didn't even begin to cover her frustrations, but she really didn't want to go on a rant about all of it. Heather had honestly wanted to see a group of wizards working together to put on a beautifully written and directed play and that hadn't happened. Instead, she got to watch a group of wizards showing off while throwing magic at one another. She was beyond disappointed. "I was worried about you."

"Anyway, you had asked about Blue Pegasus earlier... before all the chaos. Did you want to come back with us - with me and Russel, that is?"
Heather inquired. "I think we are more or less done here, and I think you would really like our guild. Master Gregory would like you as well." Heather found herself smiling once again as she thought about the prospect of returning to her guildmates. She hadn't realized how attached to them she had become even when they could be idiots at times. Maintaining that smile, Heather extended her hand towards Werner. On the surface, it was merely an offer to help him up off the ground, but beneath that it carried another message as well - an invitation in fact - to accompany her to the place she now called home.

Werner blushed a little at what Heather said. "Oh. Y-You didn't have to. Really." He smiled and looked up at Heather. Grabbing he hand, and lifting himself up, he looked into the ground, coughing a little. "Are you sure I am what the guild needs? I mean, I am weak. I electrocuted myself for god's sakes..." Werner sniffed a little, still looking down. "Sorry for the fight."

Wener looked up, and his eyes were watery, but he quickly wiped them with his left sleeve, leaving a black trace all over his eyes. "O-Ok, I will come. Lead the way, please." Werner says, his personality shifting from the loud and obnoxious guy he was, to a shy school boy on his first day.

A few claps emerged in the quiet auditorium, followed by an increasing chorus of sound. The audience grew wild, cheering loudly for the actors onstage. In moments, the once virgin silence blossomed into a roar.

“And that’s the final act, ladies and gentlemen,” announced Leorio, stepping onto the stage once again. “Mages sure are a blast, aren’t they?”

Enthusiastically, the audience cheered louder to agree. Except, for those perceptive enough to notice, a minor few scattered throughout the theater. They instead roared in anger, holding signs in the air in protest. Their voices were drowned out by the majority, but the message was clear: mages weren’t welcome here.

The curtains closed even as the noise intensified. As you relaxed behind the cover, figures began appearing on the stage. Among them, you could feel the greatest presence in a tall, cowboy-hatted man approaching you, followed by a group of men and one woman.

Caina and Nora would find themselves closest to the cowboy in the lead, steadily moving towards them. He lifted his hat to lock eyes with the two young mages, a small smile slowly spreading across his lips.

“Hi, I saw how you performed onstage here. You both impressed me, so I wanted to come ask you one thing,” he said. The man clasped his palms onto their shoulders, pausing for a moment as his eyes surveyed them. “How would you like to join my guild?”

The rest of the performers were approached by the other new attendees, who they would recognize as their guildmasters.

To Alyssa, Myla stormed over with a dark expression, fires burning in her eyes. “Alyssa……” she hissed, pinching the girl’s ear. “What the hell were you doing up here? You completely embarrassed Lamia Scale!”

Myla furiously continued scolding Alyssa until her steam finally seemed to die out. Out of the blue, the Lamia Scale guildmaster suddenly hugged Alyssa tightly. “Buuuuuuut, that was pretty funny. So good job out there!” she cheered.

Gregory seemingly disappeared into thin air as he moved, only to reappear by Heather’s side. “Are you okay?” he asked, worried. “We should take you to get some treatment. Your beauty will be ruined if you let those wounds stay too long!”

Immediately he followed by calling Russel over. “You did an excellent job by the way, my boy,” he praised. “You were absolutely gorgeous out there. Your Blue Pegasus beauty is really coming out now; I’m proud.”

Drunkenly, Cujo stumbled towards Rex. “That was..hic...so...hic...WIIIIIILLLLLLD!” he slurred. The Quatro Cerberus guildmaster stumbled across the wooden panelling until he simply dropped onto his back on the floor, waving his bottle in the air as if to prompt Rex. “FOUUUUUUUUUR!”

Meanwhile, Adam found himself approached by a now sober Felix. The large, jolly man grinned at Adam, opening his arms wide out as if approaching for a hug towards him. Then, Felix’s fist instantaneously disappeared to embed itself into Adam’s abdomen, knocking the mage across the floor. “CONGRATULATIONS, ADAM. GO FAIRY TAIL!”

The cowboy-hatted man, who Caina and Nora might’ve recalled the face of, finished it all off. “So, what do you think?”

All the World's a Stage is officially over! You may still continue to post for the epilogue, but the primary story is over. You're free to now leave. If you want someone to play the guildmasters, poke either @BLUR or @Arkytior

Heather Lillian

The blonde Blue Pegasus mage smiled at Master Gregory’s concern although she quite honestly didn’t expect anything less. “Yes,” she replied sweetly as she attempted a smile. “But before we go, there’s someone I’d like you to meet.” Heather turned and graciously gestured to Werner who was still standing nearby. “This is Werner. He doesn’t have a guild and I think he’d make a great Pegasus.” Heather’s tone was positive although it was clear that the pain was starting to wear on her.

“Sure, his fashion needs a little work,” she conceded briefly, “but we’ve fixed that before so I imagine it wouldn’t be too difficult a task. He’s got the right attitude and that’s what matters.”

Heather Lillian, Russel Lefton, & Gregory Maximillion Victoria

Listening to Heather’s request, though he much rather prefered to be leaving and fixing his guild’s wizard up, Gregory Maximillion Victoria of Blue Pegasus raised a brow. His gaze was shifted towards the boy named Werner, eyeing him and analyzing him from head to toe, as if he was attempting to learn everything about the mage in a single sitting.

“Hmm…” Master Gregory pondered, cupping his chin into his right hand. He flipped away his some loose hair with the other hand, proceeding to brush his hair back ever so gently as he continued to stare as the probably uncomfortable boy.

“Well, first we would have to do something about that name. Werner just doesn’t sound quite charming enough. Then that hair! Definitely not going to be seeing any of that anymore, what with all the static surrounding it. Oh Zeref, it’s crisp and rough too! No no no, this simply won’t do!” Master Gregory began. Basically an initiation, this was how he treated most every wizard that was to enter Blue Pegasus. A very select few were quite beautiful even before bearing the insignia of the most fashionable guild on Earthland, but most were not so lucky.

“Oh, I know he needs work,” Heather agreed, reaching up to put a hand on her guildmaster’s shoulder. It may have looked like a casual thing, but in reality the weight on her feet was starting to wear on her. “But he’s charmed even me… that’s not easy. And we can always fix the…” her eyes scanned Werner up and down similarly to the way Master Greg’s had although hers were a lot faster, “appearance aspects. Wouldn’t you agree? It would be a fun project!”

Master Gregory smirked, obviously delighted by Heather’s suggestion. “Oh my darling, always so generous to those less fortunate than yourself. Of course, it would be a travesty if we let this….thing...carry on the way it is. We’ll make him presentable in no time!”

The Wizard Saint once again gently brushed his hair back, taking a pose that showed his extreme confidence in himself as his smirk grew wider. His back was arched so the his chin was above everyone else around him, his hand remained tangled in his hair, and his leg on the same side was bent in front of the other, as if he was modeling for a magazine cover. To himself, he appeared as a mythical beauty. To others, he looked like an ass.

The younger Blue Pegasus mage had been walking out of the theater, assuming that everyone else was following him, but he wasn’t entirely surprised when he turned around to see that Master Gregory and Heather had gotten distracted in conversation. Russel smiled brightly as he flew up into the air, the wings on his shoes flapping fast as they carried him over to his guildmates. “Hey Master Gregory! Look at my new shoes! Aren’t they fantastic!? I can fly now!”

Gregory grabbed a fistful of the air in dramatic fashion, pounding his other fist onto his chest as if in pain. “They’re wonderful darling! Your beauty is blinding!”

“I know, right! Isn’t it fantastic!? We should get back to the guild so I can show everyone else too!” Russel exclaimed. Then he looked back to Werner and gestured to him. “Is Heather’s new boyfriend coming?”

Suddenly, Gregory’s eyes widened in horror. “Russel! I forbid you from spouting such nonsense ever again!” Turning around with a sense of urgency and panic, Greg faced his other Pegasi. “Heather, deny these rumors! A woman of your beauty and stature has no place mingling with vermin! No offense to you Warnar,” Greg paused, just to add that little part. “If any reporter asks, insult their intelligence for even considering such a disgraceful notion!”

Heather’s eyes widened as she glared at Russel before noting her own guildmaster’s reaction. Her eyes flickered from Master Greg to Werner and back again. “Well,” she commented, “he was supposed to be my prince charming… maybe there’s a reason why I want to fix him up a bit.” She turned to face her guildmaster head on, her expression very grim. “Of course right now it would be impossible, so you don’t need to worry about such disgrace. I would never even consider it!” Then her eyes turned back to her prospective guildmate once more. “But maybe there’s something there worth taking a better look at…”

Russel just stood - actually, hovered in the air - watching the encounter with the most mischievous grin on his little teenage face.

Gregory turned away from Heather, averting her gaze. His eyes were shut closed as he weighed his options. It appeared clear to him that he would have no choice other than to create a true prince charming out of Warnhold. So be it.

“Lets us take our carriage back to the guild hall,” Gregory turned once more, this time facing Werner, “And you, Wernstein, you will be transformed completely in the coming days. For Heather to even consider you as worthy of her time and interest, this means there may be some potential in you yet! We will bring it out, or I’m not the most fashionable man on Earthland!”

Werner stood behind Heather, looking at the guild master. His head still pounded like a drum, closing his eyes. When he opened his eyes, he saw the guild master looking at him. He smiled awkwardly, looking at Heather. He looked at himself, then at his now torn and burned costume. His raised a sleeve, that then fell down. "Oh... Well, looks li-"

His eyes that were down, now rose up when Heather spoke. He blushed a little, but Werner believed that she said that only for the guild master to accept him. He felt good that someone saw the good in him. "Hey!" He said, when Gregory said less fortunate. He smiled when he saw Russel fly in his shoes.

The next moment, Werner's jaw dropped, looking at the three participants.
"Wha- I- Whe- Huh?" Werner was baffled. After hearing the whole discussion, Werner sighed. "I-It's Werner, master Gregory. A-And sorry for my less than humble presence." Werner lets his polearm down, and bows before Gregory. "I thank you for your humbleness!".

Nora Fulleat

Nora looked up at the man and turned a bright crimson. She pointed to herself surprised, "w-wait you mean me?" Me join a guild? Was I really that impressive? The thought of joining a guild raced in her She stammered for a few moments before gathering the words. "A-ah, t-t-thank you. I am deeply honored that you would even consider me. I mean I'm not very useful or talented, but I am very grateful for the opportunity." She looked at him bashfully, "sadly, I'll have to decline. Right now I don't feel like I have grown as a person. My master asked me to grow as a person through traveling before I do anything. I know that my uneasiness around others is a big problem and until I can feel confident in myself I don't think I'd do well with any guild." She gave a deep bow, "I'm so sorry sir."

Adam Berlyn

Adam couldn't believe that they had won. For sometime he thought they were going to lose or maybe win. But they were able to make everyone laugh a good jolly one and that got them to the finish line. Adam saw Felix approach and was suddenly hit in the abdomen and sent flying. Adam felt out of breath from that punch and only replied with a thumbs up as he struggles to recover. As he finally picks himself up he overhears Nora's conversation and approaches her from behind. Obviously showing that he was towering over her, he was kinda confused. "Wait Nora I kinda disagree on that, sure you were you are maybe a bit uneasy around a big group. But you did come here by your own decision to come and help out, Plus yah went up to a huge crowd on stage." Adam struggled to figure out what to do to help her uneasiness around big crowds then he realized. He slammed his right fist into his left Palm and with an idea. "Hey actually if yah want why don't yah give my guild a visit with me. I mean it's kinda loud and a lot of people yeah, but stick with me and there won't be any problems. You can partner up with me and visit a lot more places, besides I kinda need a guide back home.So will yah consider?" Adam stares at her with a determined fire of compassion and for some reason seemed that he would not take a no for an answer. But that's what most fairy tail tend to do is not take a no for an answer but really they do.
