Taika lived a uncomplicated childhood compared to Aya. Born as Taika Theodore Calix, the boy was one of the biological children to Kanani Aiuchi and Theodore Calix as their second child, the youngest of the Calix brothers and the middle child between his oldest brother, Ian, and his youngest sister, Aya. The family lived in Honolulu, where Taika remembers swimming in emerald green water with his siblings and seeing family’s surf shop across from the beach. The boy also remembers being the brawn out of the Calix children. While his youngest sister was the smartest out of the three and his oldest brother was the leader, he was almost always the most robust. Compared to his sister during their childhood, he was almost double the size and seemed much more ruddy than she was. Even to the other kids his age, he was always taller and brawnier. Because of his immense size, Taika was always popular & coerced to join teams, often with great results. In Honolulu, he was part of a junior league swim team where the boy was nicknamed "Oika (Orca in accent)" for his ability.
The boy lived in Honolulu for 8 years until his parents decided to close up shop in Honolulu. His parents moved to New Jersey & relocated their surfboard shop up north, where the kids could not only get a better education but the surfboard shop could gain more leverage due to the propensity of surfers in the area. As a result, the family relocated to the town of Doveport, where the Calix family finally settled at. The first month in Doveport was rough because Taika had to adjust to many new customs as well as learning to hide his accent, which others sometimes could not understand. Unlike Aya though, the boy wasn't bullied for long. After joining a little league swim team and a junior football league, the boy gained popularity for his athleticism and sociability. The coaches liked that the boy was robust & that he was passionate about sports while boys liked that he was friendly & able to get the upper hand during sport matches. Teachers liked that he was diligent & clever for his age & radiated a positivity that made him seem ready for everything. Taika was loved by everyone & rightfully so– so much that it seemed to go into his head sometimes. This didn't mean the boy was mean. In fact, Taika was probably one of the most friendly boys you could ever meet. In spite of that however, Taika had difficulty letting things not go his way.
During part of middle school & high school, Taika started becoming more preoccupied with his looks and the reputation he had with others. Some boys made fun of his freckled face and abundance of female friends, which resulted in the occasional fight or argument between boys & his "friends". The conflicts were always ceased by a coach & a few laps of running & pushups, but were rarely recorded in school records in the sake of having Taika being able to play games & be eligible for sports. Because of the barely recorded mishaps. Taika's arrogance & his hastiness grew subtly throughout the many excuses his coaches & favorite teachers made for him. In high school, that conceit became stronger than it ever was. He felt obliged to certain things & titles & was someone who's actions were never accounted for. He was the topdog of the school, what could happen?
Well, Beau happened. During his junior year, he met Beau for the first time. She was this slender & glamorous girl who seemed out of everyone's league. She was charismatic, rich & was one of the most popular girls at Doveport. Of course, he was bewitched by Beau, so he started trying to get her attention with his own wiles. He started getting help from his friends to capture the attention of Beau by asking her out to dates, flirting with girl in his off-time and even buying jewelry & expensive gifts here and there. And with all this flattering, Taika and Beau became the power couple of the school. They infiltrated the masses with their lovestagram pics, improving Taika's standing in the high school caste system & improving Beau's appearance in front of teachers. It seemed they could never get up from this high. But of course, what goes up must come down. Aya's cheating scandal caught air in the school & tarnished his name after it was rumored that he used the released answers to cheat on his test. Subsequently, Taika was bombarded with questions about the scandal. His sister was made to be a "school shooter"-esque type of person with a short fuse & a person ostracized from the rest of the school. Rumors about the fights in his past surfaced & gossip about him being a similar person to Aya caught on, much to his distaste. As one of the gods of the school, he sent the rumors to be erased & to be scratched off the internet with any mention of the scandal resulting in a hasty jumping or nasty rumor being spread about the gossip. During the end of the year, Taika's relationship with Beau reached an all-time high in emotions. Beau & Taika began to become more intimate with each other and the pictures proved it. Taika & Beau seemed to be alone together constantly, insinuating what was happening before & after this. During the summer, Taika & Beau went on vacation with each other, where they were left with free rein over their actions and choices. While their social media hinted to a romantic getaway together, it again alluded to the fact that the couple were sleeping together & letting their followers gossip & become infatuated with the two. After the trip, it seemed that Taika had filmed a rather private & sensual evening with Beau. The pair thought that their secret was safe, and they still do. However, who knows what could happen in a school year with the burn blog always ready?
