Mirrors and Clocks

After doing a mental head count to be sure they were all together, Largo looked to the city for the break between buildings. There really was a lot of hustle and bustle, it was surprising that a modern city like this was having wolf problems... Although when she looked again to the forest, it seemed like a completely different world. "I suppose we should find our employer." She suggested, glancing again at the request slip.

"You suppose?" Liam interjected. Walking closer with Alyss on his arm. She had done fairly well for her first portal jump, and Jack too.

"Don't be so snide, you know exactly what I mean." She sighed at his constant rattling.

"Well then say it like you mean it, fearless leader." He smirked with amusement.

"Anyways..." She uttered rather apathetically and started walking towards the city lights. The flashing reflected in her lavender eyes like a strobe light, everything from the boardwalk signs, the street lamps, and windows lights. The harsh lighting made her look much paler in comparison. She noticed that everyone was keeping their distance from the border area, maybe it was some kind of indication of the looming danger. The closer they got to the city side, she noticed that people were steadily abandoning the streets; slowly trickling back into the many corners and apartments of the metropolitan. She looked over her shoulder and squinted into the woods, this would not be good timing if they were unable to act out the plans she'd made.

Nezumi smiled at Lula.

"You can eat if you want," She giggled. "I dont mind waiting... Those girls that walked in though. Somethings off about them. I dont like it." She looked around the cafeteria again and zoned out at site of the garden. The large window in the cafeteria looked out at a wonderful lush garden. She started thinking about Ryder again. His power... It's guys like him her brother told her to be wary of. She usually followed her brothers advice but couldnt stop thinking about him.

"Why do I keep thinking of him?" She quietly asked herself.

Ophelia and Juliet walked around the rest of the grounds after their encounter. Juliet was silent while Ophelia rambled on like a school girl about the cute boys of the Swordsmith Academy.

"If it wasn't for the scar, that tall blonde guy would be appetizing!" She squealed. "That poisonous one though.. He was cute."

"Those girls in the cafeteria..." Juliet said softly "The one with the dark hair. Could you sense anything from her?" Ophelia stopped and looked at her puzzled.

"No..." She said. "Nothing special from what I seen. Just a smart mouthed "tough" chick."

"She did something to me. I wouldnt have noticed if I wasn't staring at her but I could feel it." Juliet was confused. She didnt feel any different. What was that she did to her?

"What do you mean?" Ophelia put her hand on Juliet and stopped her. Juliet looked over at her companion.

"I don't know. At one moment I could feel something press on me ever so lightly and then it was gone. It was barely noticeable."

"Interesting..." Ophelia replied. They started walking again. "Let's go check out the corkboard, Juliet. Can we?"

"Yes, love." She answered. "Lets."
(Dreambleed lol I am hoping mentioning your character will entice you to post. And yes lol LXsongbird I gave your character a little push hehe  )

Dmytri looked at this other world. Same world or not, it felt different. He was excited. He watched as Julia came out of the mirror. He looked over to Jack and saw him kneeled down on the ground.

"Time to get our hands dirty..." He said to himself as he looked around at everything. One moment he was in the Swordsmith Academy and next this. "Good first day..."

Alyss unlinked her arm from Liam's and stated the obvious, "Well, I guess these people are scared of the wolves..." She followed Largo toward the gap between the tall buildings and said, "Is there an address on the request slip or anything?"

Dominick saw Largo looking into the city and told her unnecessarily, "Looks like all these people are going back to their homes... Which makes our job a little harder. Though you ought to think that in a big city like this people don't stop working when the sun goes down... Of course, it'll be easier to spot werewolves, if there are any in this city, when no one else is around." He took a step into the alley between the buildings. "I wonder if we could talk to possible witnesses by phones. How do these people make transactions after dark if they're all inside? Is there like a subway system or something?" Dominick's eyes were immediately drawn to a sign. The only reason he saw that sign in particular was because it wasn't flashing or lit up, and it stood out in contrast to all the bright neon billboards. The sign said, "Lower Level" and next to it there was nothing. The sign was in the middle of a road, right between two lanes of thinning traffic. "What's that?"

Ryder held onto the paper without motion taking to his legs. It was apparent that his mind was still pulling him every which way on the subject. So much that his expressions were adopting the agitation. Before he even entered the gates, he was aware of this string called fate. Once contact is made with people, something pulls them to meet again and again. Just as now, it would not allow him to simply proceed on as he wished. A single paper. That is all it takes to push me to the line?

Forcibly putting the paper back on the notice board with an available tack , he took a few steps away. Views constantly conflicting, he was nearly at a loss as to what he truly thought. The paper brought him troubles he did not want, however the troubles it was meant for could be seen as somewhat bearable. This was probably because the people that wrote the request have troubles of their own, and in this since he would merely take on another's pain as he has always done.

Take on another's pain, huh? With the thought, he immediately reverted back to that plain, boring facade. Perhaps this cause of uneasiness is still due to his views on his power. With such terms as 'take on' it may sound like he is relieving the other party of their problems while sacrificing himself. With a slight outward chuckle, he disbanded the thoughts. It seemed he was foolishly trying to define himself with some form of logic.

Today in particular, the mixed emotions as well thoughts were frequent. If he looked back over it, it was almost like a comedy act for his negligence. At first he told himself to avoid everyone, then an exception was made when a roommate appeared. Then it began to extend outwards to even the sister. But what about the friends? Just like the sister, they could pass through the room just as often, and cause an equal amount of ruckus to his life as her. He could not help but behave 'normally' to the roommate, but just where could he draw the line the was so heavily becoming distorted?

(Bleh, my writing is so confusing as of late. Hehe.. Payton Fenix I noticed, and it kind of did until I got confused with my own beginning paragraph. Thank you ^^)

(aaahhh lower level, that sounds scary xD )

Largo looked down at the slip and flipped it over. She noticed elegant writing had appeared that wasn't there before. It must have shown up once they'd passed through the portal. "William Garson...Office 11, Watson building on the 13th of Broad street....." She looked up to see what street they were on and spotted a green post on the corner that read 'Broad Street'. "Okay we're on broad street..." She stated the obvious, looking for some indication of which number off broad street they were on.

(sorry for the briefness, busy day--work and sister's bday.)

Alyss took in the information stated by Largo and spotted rusty numbers on a building. The one that was still in place was a 2, and the empty space by it had a dark imprint on it in the shape of a 1. Alyss assumed the old brass number "1" had fallen off long ago. "We're at the 21st building right now... I think the numbers get larger that way," she pointed to the left, "and the employer's at 13... Off we go?"

"Yeah 13. In somewhere called the 'Watson Building'" Largo nodded, falling back in step with Alyss so that she wouldn't solely be leading the group. She looked down at her feet as they walked down the cracked pavement. The wind was getting a bit nippy so she pulled her sleeves down over her hands. It had been a few blocks before she looked up again to see that they were already at the 10th building. She looked up, taking in her surroundings; it was a very unexpected layout--she hoped that her plan would be able to relay to such a setting. "This really is a lot of area to cover.." she mumbled to herself.

(hey guys sorry about the inactiveness i will post something soon. its just been hectic these past weeks. i dont want this thread to go south :( )

(I agree, super busy, I of course do not want this to die. Not to mention work has been crazy since Iron man 3 came out (I work at a theater) and I just broke up with my bf, etc etc. College students are finally out and high school kids are about to graduate)

(sorry for the late post! :o Finally summer. TIME TO GET THIS RP RUNNIN MATES!)

Realizing he had gotten a bit behind in his awe of the city, Jack jolted upright and dashed towards the group. A little jumbled in his thoughts, he almost didn't notice everyone trying to get out of sight. Something made him trip and stumble behind the group. Having almost fallen, he looked behind him to see what it was.. A shoe. Really? Who leaves thei-wait..

It was obvious to Jack at this point that someone had been standing there. The young lady shifted her pink kitten heel shoe into the shadows. "Hey," Jack whispered, straightening up and turning around the corner of the 12th building. There was the short woman, probably around his age, who had caused his faltering. He looked behind her to find even more women, dressed tackily and rather... suggestively. Well, the request specifically stated to protect young women... he slightly smirked to himself. Should've expected prostitution in a city like this.

"Sorr- Hey!" the innocent-looking lady in the group was cut off by Jack's actions. He picked her up and put her on his shoulders. "Can you please put me down?"

Ignoring her, he simply said "Come on." He gestured for the other ladies to follow, not showing in his face the urgency of the situation. Of course they bickered back and forth for a little bit, as a man dressed in dented armor trying to get a group of prostitutes to follow him was surely a bit strange, but they ended up giving in for the sake of the girl he was carrying. Nervously, they fell in line behind Jack, hoping that the wolves would not come too close to the city tonight.

You'd think the whole city would know who's here to help. He sighed and led the ladies to the nearest subway, which wasn't too hard to find next to the 12th building. Gently setting the girl on his shoulders down, he stated, "It's safer underground." She slapped him.

Three.. Two.. "Ow, my nail.." She murmured to herself, having smacked her fingernails into the armor on his head. Showing little emotion or surprise at the sequence of events, Jack walked away from the group that had started to file into the subway. He caught up with his fellow group members and whispered, "Dominick was right about the subways. Julia, Tree, I'd suggest that we start taking those being shut out of buildings off the street and into the subways before anything dangerous happens."

(hope this doesn't ruin anyone's plans or anything. if anyone wants me to change that last bit I will. ^^)

((Mobile x.x))

Dominick watched Jack lead a suggestive group of women to the sign with a down arrow. "Of course, you're right. Protecting the citizens is the first thing. But we can't risk any of them being werewolves... Largo and I should look for undercover werewolves underground. Is that okay?" He directed his question toward Largo.

Watching the commotion of people entering houses and getting below ground, some of them being shut out of buildings, Alyss looked nervously from face to face. She saw Jack and a few others, including a group of colorfully dressed women, walking toward the sign and disappearing beneath the deserted street. "What should me and... What should Liam and I do? We're not the protecting-the-citizens people... You know, we're supposed to be searching for the werewolves that aren't disguised. I guess what I'm saying is where do we start?" Alyss sighed to herself and realized she was rambling again.
