Mirrors and Clocks

Alyss walked exited the car with her large luggage and backpack. The gate before her was foreboding and she heaved her stuff through it. It was her first day. Following the map to the main office of Swordsmith Academy, she looked around and saw a vast majority of the other students in the courtyard doing the same thing. Upon reaching the office, one of the secretaries gave Alyss her room number and she hauled her stuff to her small dormitory. She dropped the suitcase on the floor next to a bed, and dug her iPod Touch and headphones out of her backpack before doing the same with it.

Dominick was jolted awake by hearing a car noise outside his window. Ughh, it's that time of year again. New recruits. He was hypocritical for thinking this, as he had just arrived at the school a month ago and likely gotten the same response. His roommate had left the school in a state of shock, so he was waiting for a new student to knock on his door, saying they were to room with him. Oh joy...

Largo was catching an early breakfast in the cafeteria, moping about the recent dissolve of her Job group. There were four of them total and you could say that the dissolve was her fault. She was tired of being treated as some sort of health pack, being ordered to stay back until one of the stronger members needed her energy sacrifice. Really it was no way to live, passing out for 8 extra hours everyday. She quit the group without warning causing a dispute between them and ending in the dissolve of the group.

She can't complain too much though, she did make a lot of money during her time with them.. Largo sighed and pushed the rest of her food away, laying her forehead on the cold table. She wouldn't be taking part in any high-paying, or high-risk jobs for awhile it seemed.

Natalie, with her glossy black hair and Piercing Crystal eye's, walked up to the gates. Her Bag'srolled at her side. Tali as she prefered to be called, tilted her black hat on her head gently. She smiled at the ironbar's that somebody would probably call Prision one day. Home, sweet Home. She thought as she walked into the court yard. Tali had a light blue tank top, some jean shorts and a pairof shades on as she leaned up against the tree.Observing the people. Natalie strolled into the office,to where she was givena key to her room.

It was early, and Alyss was getting hungry. She exited her room, locking the door behind her and taking her headphones, iTouch, and room key with her. Alyss pulled out a map given to her by the secretary who gave her the room key, and followed it to the cafeteria, humming to P!nk's "Raise Your Glass". She saw a girl with her head on the table, and a tray of food in front of her, barely touched. Alyss asked, "Soo... You going to eat that?"

"Fresh meat, get some color in your face! You're white as a freaking chicken, and you act like one too."

Two people, a girl and a boy, were speeding through the entrance to the school. Their hair flew in all directions due to the speed that the girl, a white haired red-eyed mystery of a girl who wore gothic-like attire, was riding the motorcycle.

"I'm only pale because your driving is reckless..." Said the boy, also a bit white-haired, but with a few yellow highlights here and there. He had a blue eye, but the other was a mystery since it was covered with an eyepatch. Together, the two arrived at their destination. Swordsmith academy.

"See? You're a friggin' chicken, Roo. A turtle would have been able to keep up with my speed on the road." Vivi, the girl, drove the motorcycle into the bike lot. She placed down the stand to keep it up, then slipped out of it to pull the keys out and lock it to one of the many places in the bike lot. She loomed over Roo, the boy, who was taking his sweet time unloading all of the suitcases he had. Many, for his familiars. Roo himself didn't have all that much to pack. He loaded everything he could ontop of eachother for convenience, even though they were heavy alltogether. He gave Vivi a facetious look. "You're supposed to be my supporter. Aren't you going to help me with these?"

Vivi blurted out, laughing, "Of course not, fresh meat! Go get your dorm already!" In just two seconds, she was gone.

Roo sighed. "Why do I even bother with her..." Roo moaned. He desperately pulled all of his things inside, getting his room number and key as Vivi had ordered, and hurled all of his things to said room. When he arrived, he said, "I'm not bothering to knock," and opened the door, seeing a blonde kid inside [Dominick].

Vivi appeared again, this time looking over Roo's shoulder. "Oh? So you're rooming with this guy?" She gave a devious snicker.

"Don't mind the rude lady behind me... She won't do anything if you ignore her." And with that, Roo went inside and began to unpack.

Edit: *Points very convincingly at my post*

Julia shifted in her bed as the dim sunlight fell on her face through the curtains of her room. She tried to cover her face with her pillow, letting out a soft groan. She stayed like that for a few more minutes, not wanting to stand up just yet. However, her alarm went off and she opened her eyes, blinking a couple of times. She sat up slowly, her green, wavy and long hair was messy and fell on her face. Her sparkling green eyes showed the sleepiness she felt at the moment while she let out a yawn "Time to wake up..."

She had arrived a few months ago but still hadn't been assigned to a room mate, resulting on her room to be partly decorated on one side but completely empty at the other. She stretched before sliding her legs to the side and getting out of bed. She took a short shower before stepping out of her room, wearing her usual hat slightly slid to her head's side.

Dmytri and Nezumi had their bags in tow and were standing in front of the over whelming doors that was the entrance to Swordsmith Academy.

"You ready, sis?" Dmytri looked down at his lil sister. Dmytri was 6'1, his sister was 5'6. He was always protective of her. They were 2 years apart and almost identical. Nezumi looked up at her brother and smirked.

"You bet!" She said as she dropped her bags and ran into the school. She looked back at her brother and smiled, "You got it, right?" She laughed as she skipped ahead. Dmytri groaned as he picked up her bags and walked slowly into the doorway. He looked around at all the new faces and new sites. It was a bit overwhelming he gave it that. He watched as her sister looked around curiously at all the mirrors and clocks. He dropped the bags on the floor beside a fountain and walked up behind her sister and gazed at the unusual decor.

Nezumi looked back at her brother.

"Weird, eh?" She asked.

"Definitely." He replied. The two turned their focus back on the rest of the student body. They all looked as lost and as enchanted as they were.

"What do we do now?" Dmytri looked at his sister.

"I dont know..." Nezumi looked back at him. "This place is weird... Wonder what kind of things we'll learn."

(OC: I hope this is an okay start.)
(OCC: I'm going to a MTG meet so I wont be back on for a few hours. :) just thought id let you guys know)

Julia walked down the hall calmly as she stuffed her hands on her black shorts' pockets. Her long black boots made a faint noise as she headed to the cafeteria, yawning a couple of times. Maybe she would stop by the courtyard and check the cork-board after getting some breakfast, a little bit of exercise would do her good for the day.

Largo, almost in sleeps grasp rustled at a voice in relatively empty cafeteria. Students were starting to trickle in and she dismissed it as idle chatter when she realized that the voice was directed at her. She glanced up from her dwelling to see a thin girl with large blue eyes staring down at her. "Oh...this?" she looked to her tray of food which had likely gone cold. "Probably not..I'm finished actually." She answered and looked back to the girl, "But help yourself, I don't mind". She hadn't seen this girl around before, at least not in any classes or around the mission boards. "Are you new?" she added curiously while sliding the tray over.

"Ooh, thanks!" Alyss eagerly took the tray from her. "Yup, I'm new; just put my stuff down in my room." The mashed potatoes were gone in an instant down Alyss's throat. "If you don't mind... what's the corkboard in the center of the courtyard for? I saw a bunch of people around it." Alyss chugged down the chocolate milk, though 2% wasn't her favorite.

Taking a few deep breaths to calm her unsteady heart, Lula stepped through the school gate. With wide, terrified indigo eyes, she examined the foreboding campus ahead of her. She looked behind her, wondering if there was still a chance she could hop back in her parents car and go home again, but the cloud of dust where the car was just a minute ago ruined that plan for her. There was no turning back. She was stuck here.

She let out a frightened whimper before picking up her heavy duffle bag and proceeding forward. She was very small for her age, 15 years old and she was only 4'10, and that really didn't help her shyness much.

She lugged the bag up the stairs and into the school. Her mouth dropped when she saw all of the mirror and clocks. Nearly every inch of the walls were covered in them! "Wow!' She murmured, but then she noticed that she wasn't alone.

There were two others in the room[Dmytri and Nezumi], and by the looks of them they were scary! Especially the tall boy with all of the scars.

Lula gasped, feeling her nerves return, and immediately dropped her duffle bag and turned invisible. This was not a good start to her time here.

Looking up surprisedly at the guy who just entered the room with a gothically-dressed girl, Dominick said, "Hey... I'm Dominick." He suspiciously eyed the girl behind the newly entering roommate. But as the other guy didn't seem alarmed Dominick didn't say anything about the policy of no girls being allowed in the guys' dormitories to avoid seeming stupid. He watched the guy unpack. "You can have that bed..." Dominick's voice trailed off as he realized it was pretty obvious which bed was his since he was laying on it.

Julia stepped into the cafeteria and ordered her breakfast, which was not much, in fact she just got herself an apple and oats, for her a good way to start her day. She sat down on one random table and started to bite on the apple distractedly. She thought about her day, expecting to find a good job enough to get her entertained all day long. Besides, it was the only time she got to use her powers against something! There was sadly prohibited, not that she was a person keen of fighting but hey, living out your life in a place like that soon you ran out of other things to do other than those jobs. She let out a soft sigh as she took yet again another bite of her apple.

(( **thumbs up ))

"Roo." Roo said suddenly while taking out his things. He took out dozens of his clothes, as well as female clothes, the ones that his familiars enjoy wearing. Roo suddenly took out a pair of panties, and he stared at it with a blank face before turning to Vivi.

"You're going to embarrass me. Why are your clothes in my bag?"

"Does it really make a difference? Not like I can keep my bag and dress accordingly... Or maybe I can?" Vivi took the panties out of Roo's hands and stuffed them into one of the three other suitcases. She took those suitcases with her and hauled them over to Roo's bed. As that was done, she wandered until she sat down next to Dominick on his bed. Roo shook his head in disapproval and continued to unpack.

"So, how long have you been here for? Or are you fresh meat like Roo the chicken there?"

"Oh so I guess you haven't been informed yet." Largo remembered her first time in the academy, the magic of mirror teleportation, the surprisingly talented other students, the wacky jobs--this was going to be good. "The corkboard," She smiled to herself and went on, "is where to pick up request forms. You've seen the mirrors and clocks as well I take it? Well those are portals to other places and clocks show how much time that portal has left before it closes. Now each request slip has a mirror number on it, telling you which portal to take so that you can fulfill the job requirements. Every job is different, but each one pays--the request forms are really what this academy is all about..." It wasn't the best description, but it was the basics at least.

Dominick was slightly taken aback by the unabashed girl. "Um-mm, I've been here for about a month... You just got here?" He regained his composure and leaned back against the head of the bed. "You guys hungry? Had time to look around yet? I could show you around if you want." The main reason Dominick offered this was to remind them that he had been here longer than them, even if he didn't know that reason consciously. "Roo, when you're done unpacking we could catch some breakfast at the cafeteria, maybe form some job teams... You both know why you're here, right? Seen the mirrors and stuff?" Dominick had barely completed his first request (a gopher extermination) but wasn't about to let them know he was still a rookie, still getting used to the idea of the mirrors and clocks.
Alyss's eyes grew slightly as she finished off the last of the breakfast, a sugary cereal. "Wow. So we're just supposed to complete jobs, no classes? I guess it said this place was different from normal school..." She answered her own question. Then Alyss asked, "What are the jobs like?" She shoved the tray away and noticed another girl sitting down at their table [Julia].

"They're all different, some more dangerous than others. Some you can complete by yourself and others take a group of people. I used to have a group of my own, but we recently...disbanded." She shifted in her seat a little, "I can show you an actual request form when you're finished if you want?" She wasn't sure if the girl had other business to take care of since she was brand new. "Oh and my name's Largo by the way, Largo Vinette." She curved the corner of her mouth a tad in a small smile.

Julia laid her cheek on the palm of her hand and raised her eyebrow when she saw Alyss, it may had been that their eyes just met for a second but she waved her hand at her lightly with a friendly smile on her face. She did, however, heard her last sentence and tilted her head a little, she must be new. She then glanced for a second at Largo and heard the disband thing before suppressing a sigh, seems like that seemed to happen a lot lately, even her group had gotten disbanded lately.. Well what could one expect if half of the group had been killed on the last job? She moved her head a little before looking back at her oat, taking out a spoon to eat it after pouring some milk on it.

"Hmm, would've been better if you were here for a year or so. That way, as a high-end senior, you could cover for Roo." Vivi brushed her hair back, looking over at Roo. "Maybe I'll go eat... How good is the food? I don't really have to eat, but I'm pretty sure Roo is hungry." She crossed her feet boredly. "Roo, you know how the school works?"

Roo disgracefully threw a paper at Vivi's face. Vivi flinched, but she took the paper and opened it. She read it over. "...Ooh. Very interesting. And basically we get money from these quests to get what exactly?"

((On an iPod now.))

Jealousy, Doubt, Sorrow....

Small black spheres hung in the air, a slight red glistening within them as they slowly moved in random patterns. If it was a picture, one would probably describe it as somewhat beautiful. Even more so when the smallest physical contact made them splash out in red, before reforming shortly after. Nearly comparable to stars in the way they formed constellations in their movements.

This was a simple magic, though no more use than simple visual effects, portraying to the number of sources around. The male sitting within the middle of these orbs was the creator of this small display. Off in a corner of the courtyard, as a room key rolled about in one hand whilst a paper remained in the other, he remained silently reading. The orbs floating around him creating more of a peaceful setting for only himself.

Every now and again his eyes would escape to the people walking by. The globes would dissipate at incalculable intervals as a source would disappear. Such was the nature of his power. Negative emotions came and went quickly amongst daily lives, whether they were tampered with or not. With the time he spent with this power, he managed to decipher which emotion was contained in each orb. However it was nearly impossible to pinpoint where the source of these emotions were coming from.

"So that's how it is.." Ryder muttered softly, leaning forward as to watch others more closely while putting away the paper. "Taking on jobs, that is the foundation." Poking one of the orbs, he watched the small, harmless nova it would create, enveloping his finger with a dark shell.

((A post should be made before I fall asleep... Right?... My apologies for my awkward writing.. )

((changed Alyss and Dominick's powers slightly, aka added stuff cause compared to everyone else's their powers seemed small xD ))

"That would be cool! I'm finished already." Alyss stood abruptly and said, "Anyone want to come to the cork-board with me? I'd like to see what types of jobs there are now, and maybe do one if it doesn't take too long?" She addressed both the sitting girl and Largo. "When you're finished, of course," Alyss added, looking at the girl eating oats.

Dominick said, "Personally I think that the food's crappy, but the money from jobs goes a pretty long way toward ditching the school and getting pizza or something. Of course, it depends on the job. I don't have that much money left—" He was completely broke, "—so I'm going to the cafeteria. Also, I can enhance the tastes, so it's not that bad." He smirked.

Julia raised her eyebrow and shrugged a smile blooming on her face "I'll like to tag along. Was planning to go there after this anyway" She said in her usual calm and kinda sleepy tone of voice, though her green eyes glimmered with the vivacity that could not be heard on her. She laid her chin on top of the palm of her hand again and finished her oat in one go.

Largo cringed at the girl's spontaneous announcement. A familiar girl at the end of their table answered, though Largo couldn't quite recall where she'd seen her. She had green hair, not like that of moss, but more like the ripened flesh of a lime. There may even be a possibility of a new group formation, she thought aimlessly as her thoughts carried her into the curiosity of what these girl's abilities may be. She stood and gathered her finished off tray, sliding it into the dish pit conveyer belt. "I'll be waiting by the corkboard when you're ready--I trust you know the way?" She asked the both of them before adding, "I'm going to squeeze myself in and see if I can find some decent request forms before we're left with cleaning goblin pins and milking gophers." She paused for their acknowledgement before heading off.

If she'd known sooner that she'd be filling request forms this day than she would have gone their first thing. It's always a push and shove to get any decent listings with the constant swarm of students. It's rumored that even some teachers take requests for some extra money now and then. "Or we can head here together if you're ready, either way is fine." She was so terrible at reading social situations.

"Did you hear that?" Dmytri looked around. He saw a lone duffel bag sitting in the middle of the room. Nobody though.

"Hear what?" Nezumi inquired as she turned around. She scanned the room. "Oh!" She exclaimed.. "Who's duffel bag is that?"

"I dont know." Dmytri chuckled. "Should we wait to see if someone comes to claim it?" He said as he walked towards the mysterious sack. Nezumi skipped behind him, holding her hands behind her back.

"Maybe we should take it to the office, we have to go there anyways." She said as she reached for it "Two birds, one stone!"

"Ooh." Vivi gave Dominick a mischievous smile. "You'll prove useful to me if you can do that..." she said, mentioning his ability to make things taste better. She ate purely for the taste since her body didn't exactly need to eat.

"Also, you should probably address Roo as the student, and me just a... Friend of his. Not like I attend this school; it's Roo... Also, he would just love going to get a job with you!"

"One, don't decide things for me, and two, I talk for the both of us, Vivi... But sure, let's find a job, Dominick." Roo stood up from his unpacked luggage and stretched. "Whenever you're ready."

Vivi rolled her eyes as she went over to Roo's side.
