Herman’s history is rather a mystery, but the few thing he is know for. But he was mostly known for his feats in hunting down monsters and demons that terrorized the lands, tracking them down, whether into the forests or the cities, recruiting local help, and then inevitably taking them down with a combination of his martial prowess and magical prowess.
Herman was a close ally to the wizard in the tower, for many years he served alongside him, seeing him an ally to of the law. Time and time, he had requested assistance of the head in the arcane fields in order to tackle any challenges in the field, in return he offered his own skills to assist the head of the magic tower.
When said wizard claimed himself king, Herman had no objection. Perhaps it was for the best, the man was wise after all; perhaps he could be much more effective at bringing order to the lands as a king. Though some say he might just doubt the decision, he would put faith in his friend, that this was truly for the best...but still….his mind wanders...but his lips were sealed...

Name: Raindel "Raina" Wyverman
Age: 120
Gender: Male
Appearance:
View attachment 335321
Level of skill: Genius
Field of focus: Illusion Magic
Background:
Many, many years ago when freedom and fairness were the key components in life. Raindel was a little boy who was simply obsessed with magic. He worked hard everyday in order to gain as much knowledge as he could after finding out at the age of 12, that he was capable of the mystical arts. He was raised in an orphanage among humans rarely with than without the power he was born with, making his life there somewhat.... Stressful. Mostly because of the mixed feelings had his peers towards his gifts, but that didn't stop him. More so it drove him onto the path to being a teacher when he got older, so that those like him or at least those that wanted to be like him, could be guided in the right direction.
15 years came and gone, and Raindel had finally achieved his goal of becoming a teacher of the magical arts. Although to be honest, at first it was extremely hard, due to the type of magic he specialized in. Which by many was not only regarded as weak, but not as useful as most other types as well. The youth at that time barely saw any use for Illusions, and since that type of magic was so scarce. There wouldn't be much time before his teaching at the academy became obsolete. So after 2 more short years at the academy, he went on a training journey after retiring as a teacher, strengthening his magic and increasing the complexity of his spells.
Nearly a century had passed... and Raindel although 120 years old, had adopted a younger form from his childhood. He had been traveling throughout the land as a young adolescent, enrolling into a variety of schools and learning countless different kinds magic via his illusion magic, which was developed to the point that the senses are completely oblivious to the difference between it and reality.
More about them:
He's known by other elder wizards as "The Eternal Student" because of how far he's taken his magic, and his ever increasing pool of knowledge. His appearance may speak volumes, but in reality he's still an old man, he won't be as quick and agile as he once was before, but of course, besides very few of the elder mages, he's the only one that knows. After taking up the image of himself in the past, a lot of old childish habits have slowly resurfaced. In all that has happened in the last 17 years, Raindel has become a lot more careful in moving around, although it can be said that the King nor Queen know of his existence.
Recently he's started assisting others with their great escapes, using basic Illusion spells in place to make them temporarily invisible to the hunters and such. Here is a list of all the magic types he's learned via bending his own: Freeze Magic, Ice Magic, Flame magic, Burning Magic, Gravity magic, Sound Magic, Light Magic, Creation Magic, Enhancement Magic, and Summoning Magic.
Name: Gretta Dae
Age: 29
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Level of skill: Starter
Field of focus: Lost/Ancient Magic
Background: Gretta was originally an explorer who was contracted to investigate an old ruin deep underground. Before her small team of five began their expedition, they could sense something was eerie amidst; however, the payment to complete this expedition out weighed their instincts. As Gretta's small team of five drew closer to the ruin, one member could feel immense pressure deep within his head. He could feel his brain trying to break out with each beat of his heart; soon after the pain was too much and he doubled over and groaned in agony. His cries of pains made the other members' courage waver and claimed that the place was cursed. Gretta, whose focus sole lied on the reward money, ignored her teams whimpers. She ordered one of her members to take the now passed out team member to the surface, and orders the remaining two to follow her. Soon, Gretta and her shaken expedition team reached the end of the cave. What they saw left them in awe. Before the team was not a ruin, but a pedestal made of cold stone; upon it's rough surface... a leather bound tome. The tome looked as if it had not seen the light of day for many centuries or even millennia. The tome's hard cover had many shades sickly brown colour of dried flesh sewn crudely together. Confused, Gretta approached the ugly tome and cautiously reached out to grasp it. Fingers a Hair's breadth away from the tome, Gretta felt something. It was something throbbing. It was something painful. It was something... sharp. Slowly turning around, Gretta saw the face of her team member. His face smeared his a familiar red liquid, frothing from the mouth and teeth bared in a hideous smile. Slowly looking down, the source of her pain was found. In one clean motion, the metallic object was pulled out, sapping Gretta of all her strength. As she fell on the floor she saw what remained of her other team member, eyes still open but was looking at nothing. Before Gretta passed out from her wound, all she could hear was laughter, not of a blood thirsty or sinister nature, but one of pure insanity. When Gretta came to, she realised the place looked familiar; it was the cave entrance. However, something was off. The area was overgrown and looked as if no one had seen the place in years. She was alone with nothing in a time she had no idea of, but one thing kept her company... the ragged flesh bound tome.
More about them:
- Gretta herself isn't magical in nature, but rather invokes magic with help of the tome.
- The tome has great power, but its price it too damn high.
- The contents of the tome is written in glyphs alien to many
- Anyone can use the tome, however, reading it isn't like reading a book; it's more like the book speaks to you and your repeat what it says.
- Gretta has no common knowledge.
- Gretta has no money
If he is not human so he can't be a refugee because king doesn't chase other creatures. So; is he neutral? With king? Against the king?
By the way, I like your character. He seems to come handy in future... if I can save this rp from failing!
Your CS is suitable and accepted. The second form is more useful for king's subordinates. When I made them I didn't have a neutral side in mind. Thanks a lot I was hoping to create a saving grace for the... Protagonists of your awesome RP
Ohh sorry, I assumed refugee was like... the humans, spell casters, wizards, magicians and such. Oops. Yes, he'll be in a sense... Chaotic neutral? Anyway he's not against nor with the king. If that makes sense. Do I have to use the other format? Because he's human, super old but.. Human
Accepted! But the part about necromancy should be ignored. That's a master level dark magic.
Thank you, and yikes, sorry about that! I didn't realize. I'll edit it (and post in IC) when I get to my laptop. Currently I'm on Kindle and should be studying.Accepted! But the part about necromancy should be ignored. That's a master level dark magic.
Accepted. We'll discuss about the handler in OCC.Name: Star Clementine
age: 17
gender: Female
appearance: Still working on appearance, wanted to see if background would be approved.
level of skill: Talented, but self trained
field of focus: Nature Elemental. Before being captured, her specialty was using nature to effectively track and trap animals.
background: Star lived in a small cottage in the middle of a forest. The exact location was known only to very few, as its location was hidden with powerful forest magic. Her parents were well known as guardians of the forest, they were often contracted to hunt down criminals hiding in their forest, and were sometimes called upon to fight alongside the one emperor.
Star was born blind, which often caused her to get lost in the forest. Most of the time she could find her way home, but every now and then her parents would have to track her to bring her back. After several years of getting lost, Star became incredibly intune with the forest. The air, the smells, the feels, the sounds, even the aura of everything around her became her guide. She began to develop her nature based skills so sharply, that she could track and trap anything from the smallest bug to the fiercest animal.
One day while gathering food in the forest, an unfamiliar scent jarred Star from her day dreaming. It was a curious scent, both sickly and unnatural. She tracked it for some time, vaguely aware that the scent was moving straight for her home. Eventually she came upon the source of the smell, a group of strangers that were speaking with her parents. She listened from the nearby trees, her father sounding more agitated then she'd ever heard him. Minutes later, the strangers were gone, their foul unnatural odor lingering in the forest.
Star's left her hiding spot and approached her parents. Her father was angrily discussing what had happened, while her mother gathered their hunting supplies, readying for a trip. They told Star that everything was fine, but that they needed to report to the one emperor. Her mother hugged her and assured her that they would be back, and moments later, they too were gone.
At the age of 16, Star had become used to long periods of time by herself. Her parents were very active, they would often disappear for days at a time. Trips to the one emperor were some of the longer trips, they would usually take about 1-2 weeks. She would use that time to hone her senses, and to practice setting traps. This waiting period would be no different.
A month passed and she heard nothing. Her parents had been gone for so long, she could no longer feel their lingering aura. She could only feel the persistent aura left by the mysterious strangers. The aura taunted her, calling her to follow it. She did not dare, as she knew there was not much she could do if confronted by the group. She was not physically strong, nor did she have the skill to fight. Her strength came from her quick agile body and her razor sharp senses.
More time passed, and the rotten aura became stronger. It was the day of her 17th birthday, and the only thing she could do was pace around the forest trying to forget the aura. It called to her and called to her until she could no longer ignore it. She grabbed what hunting supplies were left, and set off to leave the safety of her forest for the first time in her life.
The scent led her to a city filled with people and animals of all kinds. She clumsily stumbled around the city, unable to track anything among all the new sensations that battered her trained senses. She aimlessly wandered for hours, until finally coming upon a building with a familiar aura. It was that same unnatural feeling she had felt in the forest, however the scent was that of hopes and desperation. It was unlike anything she had ever sensed, the sweet smell mixed wonderfully with the scent of bread.
Every part of her soul told her to enter the building, but as she reached for the door, she felt a voice travel along the wind. It was the faint sound of her mother's voice calling her name. She momentarily forgot about the building and desperately ran towards the voice. She called out to it, but it would not answer back. Eventually, reached the source of the voice, bursting through the door and calling for her mother. The room was filled with her scent, but everything felt wrong. She called and she called, but her mother would not reply. For a split second, she felt as though she could smell the sickly aura, but before she could react, everything suddenly went black.
more about them: From this point on, Star is under the control of the King. She is unaware of what she is doing, being mentally controlled by a minion to hunt refugee's, while in her mind, she is trying to track her parents (which have presumably been assassinated). I will leave it to the story to see if she is eventually rescued, but there could be the opportunity of another RP'er acting as her handler, providing her with instructions and possibly rescuing her from tight situations.
Accepted. You can take him to the forest directly or have him follow Aurora and others into the tunnel.Refugee
Name: William Brooker
Alias: William Clarke
Age: 18
Appearance: William has long black hair that is tied back as well as bright blue eyes and lightly-tanned skin. He is skinny and of average height, wearing black pants and a dark blue diamond-patterned vest over his white shirt. Topping it all off, he wears a matching dark blue thigh-length coat and a red scarf. On his black belt, he harbors a knife in a sheath, mostly as a red herring. What magician would carry a knife? Over his shoulder, he carries a brown bag of which holds his various enchanted goods.
Gender: Male
Level of Skill: Talented
Field of Focus: Enchanting
Background: William Brooker is the son of Simon Brooker, a genius magician that taught his son the ways of magic from a young age. William spent his life studying these ways until magicians began to be persecuted and was only able to escape the assault due to his father casting a teleportation spell on him as the brutes were busting down the door. William Brooker now travels, unsure what to do with his mystical abilities.
More Info: William is young and easily distracted, which makes him a poor magician. In the heat of the moment, he finds himself unable to concentrate and, therefore, unable to spellcast. To counteract this, he periodically isolates himself to enchant items with spells, which can be used with little to no casting. Unfortunately, powerful spells can only be imbued into rare items, such as gems. The more rare the gem, the more powerful the spell. Weaker spells can be imbued into common objects like spoons or rocks. Another downfall to enchanting is that it requires setup as well as the time to imbue the object, which is longer than simply casting the spell.
