Would these princes have been able to partake in the war at all? Just a thought I had for my character, just doing his backstory.

No, the heirs were sheltered from the war. The war ended about a year ago.
They weren't allowed to fight but usually champions are trained by previous champions so they were brought to the battlefields to OBSERVE and learn as much as they could and make hem get use to the gore.

To add a little spice to champions you can say they had a connection with the previous champion and the previous died in the war due to a aveoul/thanade/erynada/etc.... another reason for hate?
No, they didn't since that power kills/harms friend and foe.

Good stuff my friend, it might not seem much but it's great for lore to have maps. To be honest with ya, I just like maps in general, especially of historic states like the Roman Empire!
