Medieval Role-play

Seth Wolfe

New Member
No structured plot yet.

Looking to play around with a few characters of my creation to see how their personalities make others react.

It's pointless I give you background information on characters or explain their personality, lest I want to ruin the experiment before it starts.

Humbly requesting role-players that like to send detailed text.

Thanking you in advance.

Vague, but still sounds interesting.

I don't mind the element of surprise.

(Unless it's something stupid and ridiculous, like going on a long journey with a walking, talking magical fish that always smells rotten. Or taking over the kingdom with a horny tree troll at their side -_- Dragon ducks.........I've had people come to me with some ridiculous crap.)

I don't have a medieval role play going on at the moment and what better time period to have a detailed rp?

Do you have any plot/story line ideas at all, or is it really just a 'off the top of your head' sort of thing?

Also, what type of pairings do you prefer?

Firstly, thank you for responding.

Now, as for the vague nature of the post, I'm sorry. I will add some detail for you.

There is no real plot. Though there are factors that plays a part. For instance:

There are a few races involved in the plot. Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Dragon Folk and Wraugu. ( last 2 are creation of my own. Dragon Folk are as close to humans as Elves. They have magical prowess and possess qualities, abilities and character traits of dragons. Some having armoured skin much like the scales of a dragon, others eyes of dragons ( specifically seeing great detail, eye colour and pupil shape) etc. the Wraugu on the other hand a quite the brutes. Having large, thick fangs, towering above most any human .Though the Wraugu keep to themselves and is rarely seen by any other race, prefering seclusion.)

Also mythical creatures , such as

Dragons, Giant bears, eagle like birds which are larger and has leathered backs and some others.

As I've said before it is set in a medieval era, so weapons would be swords, daggers, slings, bows and arrows, etc. Also magic plays a role in the plot.

As for the pairing, I am fairly new here, so I am not that well acquainted with the whole system, perhaps you could explain it to me.

It may not be all that amazing when so roughly defined, but I think it can develop into something quite interesting. Either way, let me know what you thinking and we can take it from there.

You are most welcome to Wynter Maddox.

Have a read at the rough plot and let's see what happens from there. :)

I am a big fan of the Medieval era...it's probably my top favorite to role play (:

I apologize if I came off short before, I was just really curious as to what you may have had in mind!

It sounds like a wonderful setting.

And pairing means what gender roles each person plays.

MalexFemale, FemalexFemale, or MalexMale etc.

Another term you will hear often is doubling. Which means each participant is playing 2 or more characters. Usually if people prefer MxF pairings, each role player will play as a male and female of whatever they want, to keep it fair. But it can really be 2 or more of any kind of main character. Even if one person played as 2 guys, or 3 girls or all of those....I hope I didn't make that too confusing xD

No , no need for apologies. I should have given a bit more information I s'pose.

The pairing part we might have to sort out a bit later as I would like to focus on my characters individually before I go around playing the role of others. If you understand what I mean.

Although the occasional passing by character is no issue either. For e.g. : as he walked towards the mountain pass there was a young man waiting. When he reached the pass the man said in a rough voice " it will cost you 5 silver to use my pass" .

That I'd say shouldn't impact my focus as much. The setting is large so it is open to many changes during the development of the storyline, don't you agree?

Sounds great to me!

Is there a limit on what our character could be because of the story line?

Or would a female elf be alright?

Out of curiosity, would there be any room for world-building in the ways of setting up certain human/elf/etc. cultures that may differ from the norm? So far, you've caught my interest from what you've told.

As an example for what I mean; say there was a dark skinned elf, covered in tribal markings and wearing gold earrings all throughout their pointed ears, so much that they're weighed down.

Well, the only limits I would like to implement is that no extravagant characters to be created.

For example : A character that is so powerful that he cannot be defeated and is always the " star of the show".

There has to be balance such as if you are powerful, you have to have flaws. Such as brute strength, but he is slow.

Also where races are concerned it would be preferable to have a character from one of the races. Though, I am open to suggestions if you have any ideas :)

A female elf seems perfect

@ LaReyna

Hello Heystarving, I'm Seth.

Firstly I'd like to describe the elves in the story.

It is something like Lord of the Rings elves, Fair Folk In other words, which generally means pale/ light skinned, pointed ears and angular eyes and lank hair.

Now, I don't want you to feel discouraged as your character comes across as something different and extremely interesting. The way I see it, Elves are magical beings so alteration to skin tone shouldn't be a problem for them or having a hybrid, human and elf producing offspring far from the "norm".

All in all, I have no problem with your character as long as there is a bit of logic behind it.

I hope that isn't too complex?

Again I'd like to say , I am open to any suggestions. :)

Nice to meet ya, Seth!

I'm still definitely intrigued, and it's not complex at all. Essentially, the idea with the example character given would be that they came from overseas, on a coastal land wherein elves perhaps lived in smaller communities, exposing themselves to the sun more due to their region. Maybe they were sea-fairing in general. The markings and earrings would simply be their distinct style. Perhaps the earrings signify their magical prowess or simply their wealth.

Though if your land is very much LotR based, I can see why you'd wish them to remain as the fairfolk they are. I have a few other character ideas as well that I'd proposition, but I'd like to read a bit more of what this world you've envisioned is like if possible. To be more specific, do you have a setting in mind for how you'd like to begin?

Likewise :) .

Well, I must admit it is interesting. The whole adapting to climate.

I think you should send me a PM then we can discuss this version of a role play. If you'd like to that is?
