Mecha RP: Legend of M

Hey everyone. Just letting you know I'll have my Character up in a couple of days. Currently using my phone for rpn and im still trying to get the look of my oc just right.

Also what are the limitations on character backgrounds and mechs? I mean every can't have a true Jaeger. What about characters who aren't native to the planet but aren't the aliens or a colony survivor??

Apparently we're suppose to take our character profiles in the Character forum held by Olivia and post them up as their own thread in that character forum.

@Crimrose there is a tl dr for the world politics, history, and factions in one of the other threads. Context of the story at the moment, the temporary alliance between the World League and the Rebellion leads to a slim victory against a super massive Kaiju and its swarm. Both sides are recovering from their losses and are about to enter a small peace period in South America I think.

Also I'm ready for the time skip unless you want to hear the wonderful sci fi ramblings of Eddie going off on his engineering team as they assemble SC - 002

I pressed all the buttons I was supposed to press and still didn't get a notification about the rp starting back up.........Is it cool if I start posting when I get back from class? Otherwise my posts will be shitty. I've "only" got gen phys, multi-var calc and a tutoring sesh for it and then film-craft. So I'd be back at like 2 or 3pm est.

I just wanna let you guys know in advance since you seem pretty good at acting as a group and I don't wanna ruin ya'll's(?) flow when I get back.

That's a pretty impressive course load. Are you a double-major in engineering and film? Or is film craft a humanities elective?

Anyway - let's call your CS provisionally accepted. I was asking HEATS to take a look because packing tactical-nukes seemed a bit over powered given our current load outs. You may want to wait for the next scene to be set before you join. I'm thinking that will be Venezuela for the rebels, but I'm not 100% sure. At any rate - if you want to post something where you're already at a rebel base then when we declare the ship gets there you can join in all the rest of the fun. Feel free to paint some NPCs for your own interaction.

Yeah, I actually only recently (last spring) decided on doubling up; chem-en and film. Before that I was gonna major/minor. But that's irrelevant.

Well, tbh, I was hoping to be the looming antagonist. Existing mostly as an annoying thing you don't understand and need to overcome using mostly wit every now and again. Kinda like the role of pyramid head in the Silent Hill series. So I wouldn't be a particularly dangerous to you. This is mostly because I'm not as reliable and Rp'er as some of you may be, given my schedule some days, and really don't want to lock you guys in an interaction with me.

What if I kill the thermonukes and just run tungsten-carbide sabots at escape velocity? I mean, they'll prob still make a splash even without the payload.

I tend to get a little intense with my ideas. My CS is actually incredibly condensed from what I had originally intended, believe it or not. Feel free to rein me in to fit your specifics, it's your rp.

Oh my god fuck this update, fuck work fuck everything. School hasn't even started back yet and I swear I'm dying.

Ok, Assuming you're still around, I do have some issues with the character sheet. For starters it's way to vague to the point that I'm not sure whose side she's on (Based on the mentions of the military I'm assuming league?) If she's meant to be neutral I'm gonna have to put my foot down here, we're far enough into the story that neutral characters are getting harder and harder to write around. If she's meant to be a villain I'm fine with her becoming one later, maybe having something to do with Ivis' downfall as well so we could turn them into their own faction but for now it'd be a lot easier to just side with one or the other.

As for the missiles the big problem isn't their hypothetical "OPness" but rather that big splash damage weapons like nukes are annoying to write around, not to mention that in story terms they'd be a mile and a half above everything anyone else is wielding at the moment, mostly just guns, missiles and knives really.

That's before even getting into the whole "Shield that blocks literally everything anyone else would have" thing. That alone would be worth me calling out by itself.

So I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to veto this for now.

Alright. FOR REAL THIS TIME. Anyone who isn't ready for the timeskip voice complaints now. By 6 pm EST we're doing the timeskip.

Location will be the fictional city of Maracaibo, Venezuela (Dilapidated city surrounding a big crater lake and surrounded by jungle. Anyone who played Mercenaries 2 should have an idea of the setting, anyone who wasn't one of the 5 people who played that back in 2006 should just google image search the word "Favela" and you'll have a pretty good idea.)

As per discussion, rebels are in hiding while their ship gets repaired, League are on shore leave and are given free reign ostensibly to gain information on where the rebels are hiding. Hijinks ensue.

Fair enough. Since I planned on being one of the only active people not allied,  I was trying to make a CS for a character who would be able to be outnumbered and not annihilated. I'd thought that I had given obvious work-arounds for it; the energy shields only working for a limited time, the lance jamming up occasionally, weak to energy weapons. I did say I could switch out the thermonukes (that weren't meant to be that big of a yield to begin with) for high-velocity sabots, tho. I was just trying to make a character that you guys would have to team up on to defeat. Tbh, the only reason I didn't openly make her a villain is because it seemed like a lot of work at first. I've only recently had time to rp again.

My bad

@HEATS Also, will there be a facility or location for Klein to test out his new machine in Venezuela that is away from any prying League eyes?

Yeah, I'd thought of that before but I forgot to mention it.

So my idea is that there could be some sort of old military base/testing facility from before the league somewhere in the jungle. That's where the ship is being hidden so we can assume that he'd get his machine there as well.

@HEATS And that could be where a couple of NPC scientists come in, too. They are more on the lines of an antagonistic role for some characters but are still on the Rebel side. If you want to know more, we can talk about it in PM to iron out the details.

No problem. Just make some edits when you get the chance and let me know when it's ready, I'll look it over.

@TPBx Eddie didn't make the Burst System nor will be able to change it so it will work on an older model machine like the Excalibur. It requires a couple people who had experience creating and implementing it. And they defected to the Rebels as well, so they'll meet at the Venezuela base.

Ok sorry, just to recap I should; drop the shields, change munitions and make her and Red Hollow obviously villainous?

@Raider867

I understand, besides it sounds like something that would be out of his area of expertise anyways given that his specialty is physics and the like, and the Burst System looks like it interfaces with its pilot or something, given that it boosts the pilot's reflexes and such.

@TPBx Indeed it does. If you've read Gundam: Blue Destiny, it's practically the EXAM System only a bit less OP, though it's still very powerful.

Change the shields and missles, yeah. As for the faction, try to explain what they are and how they interact with the primary factions. they don't have to be evil but we need to know how they actually fit into the world and what side they fall on as far as pro/anti league sentiments go.You get me?

Wait. Who's eddie again? Sorry my brain is failing me.
