We are also the know it all side kick who supports the hero though their adventure.   :D

We also have Dr. House on our team.

An interesting thing to note, and I'm sorry if this make me sound like some sort of party pooper, but this test is generally considered to be somewhat inaccurate, since it assumes trait exclusivities that do not actually exist.

So if you look at a result and think "that doesn't sound like me," that's probably the reason.

I think I was INTJ the last time I tested, and INFJ some other time, or something.

It can still be helpful for some people. I tested INFJ both times, and it describes me almost perfectly.

I guess it depends on which list you check :)

He can't be both, so obviously one set of lists is wrong.  I've studied MBTI extensively, and House cannot be an INTJ.  Ni with auxiliary Te would not sit around playing video games to hide from his boss.  And Ti is better at finding an efficient way to complete a task, while Te would say "don't worry about step 3 yet, we need to finish step 1 first".

You're assuming that these profiles offer a full coverage of someone's personality and that the subject will always handle things in the same way.  I don't think either of the lists are wrong.  Especially since House is fictional and his behaviour is scripted by a bunch of people with different personalities, including some input from Hugh Laurie himself.

i always get intp but i havent bothered taking any of these tests in like a year so i was curious if itd have changed at all but

big surprise

i ended up intp again

but i also remember reading somewhere that these tests weren't made for mentally ill ppl so who knows for certain

It's irrelevant that he is fictional and written by multiple people with different personality types.  He is still a character with a personality.

While mental illness can cause you to get typed incorrectly, that's not always the case.  Does the INTP description fit you?

It is not irrelevant, because accurate portrayal of a very different personality type is often non-prioritary for script writers.  TV or movies should be entertaining and the creation of humorous or dramatic scenes is far more important than constant accurate portrayal of character traits.  I highly doubt they even looked at something like an MBTI to create a character.  They took a bunch of traits which would make House both lovable, memorable and amusing as a character. They only need major guidelines for something like that.  The rest is actor interpretation, which means another personality interprets what the character could/should do in certain situations.

An example: As you describe yourself as an ISTP, try being an ENFJ and portray them accurately, all the time.

welp, with identity issues that come with it im not very certain on whether or not some aspects of the descriptions on the personalitypage site you linked are totally accurate or not lOL

also i havent done any research on mbti in a long time and dont have much in-depth knowledge so i probably wouldnt be able to understand the different types as well as you anyways

but other than that, going a bit paragraph-by-paragraph on this, my thoughts are as follows

- mostly yes, id say i can look at external problems rationally and logically, but then every human likes to think of themselves as rational
other people have told me im smart on occasion, but at the same time i dont feel like they knew me very well
ill just go with yes if we're excluding irrational thoughts/behaviors caused by symptoms of mental illness- which i dont necessarily consider separate from myself like a lot of people do (i.e, "i am not my anxiety!")

 - i wouldn't say i... live in a world of theoretical possibilities as im usually focused on not that. i think its easy to imagine different possible outcomes or reasons for things in a really vague and general sense. i thought that was a human trait in general though. thats the only part of the paragraph i think is relevant

- i wouldnt say i value knowledge above all else. i mean, you cant really function without "knowledge" but there's other important things too. ignoring more irrational things like feelings is ignoring a very important part of human existence and need

- i am very flexible and i dont like leading people. the flexibleness is probably very me, the not liking leading people is probably related to symptoms... and im like the fucking opposite of confident lmfao

- making decisions only on logic and ignoring feelings is ignoring a basic human need and kinda stupid imo. logic is not inherently better or more valid than feelings.

- rebellion? lol no. difficulty giving warmth and etc? incredibly, but thats more symptoms related for me personally

- i do place a lot of value on trying to convey my ideas/thoughts in a way as accurately as possible but im not sure what exactly id attribute that to. misunderstandings are just really annoying and i dont want to deal with them. among other things

- independant? no. unconventional? yes. original? probably not

so i think mostly yeah,, intp seems accurate enough for me, but i also dont remember much about any other type and therefore havent compared this to other possibilities yet

i dont really mind if you dont feel like replying to all this either, i enjoy personality tests and trying to compare the results to myself and whatnot, so having an excuse to type stuff out and think it through is nice

Just because they aren't trying to make House a certain type doesn't mean they don't do so unintentionally.

With my knowledge of MBTI, I could easily play an ENFJ and make people believe that I am an ENFJ.  But when I am roleplaying and make a new character, I don't make the character exactly like me, I just try to make them a person, and even without trying, they end up having a certain personality type.

I would recommend checking out ESTP and maybe ENTP.  And maybe INFP.  You definitely don't sound like an INTP.  ExTPs are confident, which you said you're not, but that could just be a symptom.  Other than that, ESTP sounds more like you.

My opinion on your statement is that you perceive your way of doing certain things as the norm, which might not be the case. Whilst writers will strive towards believable characters, because completely unrealistic isn't appealing to most, they put explicit emphasis on traits which edge towards the unrealistic. This helps them stand out. -> Memorable and enteraining.

huh. well, ive skimmed the descriptions

estp which sounds nothing like me lol

entp sounds about as accurate as intp

infp doesnt sound very accurate either

It's not "my way of doing things", it's the fact that all people, real or fictional, have a personality type.  Just because one wasn't intended, a character will always have a personality type.

The problem with you INTJs is that you're not objective (also more proof that House is not INTJ).

What about ENTP sounds accurate or inaccurate?

well, i suppose ill go paragraph by paragraph again since its easiest

hope you like big chunks of text?

- i think at least, when it comes to advising my friends on issues theyre having, im alright at sizing up the situation or whatever. although maybe ironically im not very good at guessing how good i am when it comes to, like, thinking and understanding shit- i might have a tendency to underestimate myself

although those friends have also said before im smart/witty/etc

its definitely hard to believe, so im not entirely sure whats accurate

- like mentioned before, im pretty flexible, and i think whether or not im adaptable depends on the situation and what specifically is meant by adaptable.

stuff that interests me im going to be much better at simply because i'll have more energy and drive for it, and i'll focus on that stuff

but at the same time again this seems pretty typical for most people

-  ive discussed very general philosophy and psychology shit with my friends and i guess im enthusiastic about it, exchanging and discussing more abstract kinds of ideas and theories is definitely something that applies to me as long as its with the right person

- seeing possibilities everywhere was something mentioned in the intp article

- i absolutely have a problem with thinking and coming up with good ideas and being excited about them, but losing all interest when it comes to carrying through or implementing them

- again, id say im rational and logical, but i also don't totally ignore mine or others feelings and i think ignoring feelings is, in itself, illogical. of course id never tell someone to follow their feelings if itd make things worse in the end, or anything

- the whole paragraph with the lawyer metaphor is kinda weird. i wouldnt take the other side in a debate unless i thought it was correct. i think rules are important when people are watching you and morality is subjective but i still generally have my own, if vague, sense of morals

- not sure if i "naturally consider the human element" because while i do, again, think feelings are important as well as logic, i'll just forget to consider them sometimes. as for isolating my feelings or w/ever, thats a whole other can of worms

You definitely sound closer to ENTP than INTP.  Maybe try checking out ISTP?
