One x One Mass Effect: Pilgrims Progress (Characters)

Steel Accord

One Thousand Club
Appearance: Young man of mixed descent but his colonial home planet has interbred to the point that such an ethic distinction isn't that distinct anymore. One thing that IS distinguishing about him, granted it's not often seen under his sleeves but the tattoo of a dragon running down one arm and the tattoo of a tiger running down the other.

Name: August "Faisca" Duangang

Age: 26

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Class: Vanguard - minus guns

Equipment: M-3 Predator, Civilian kinetic barrier, omni-tool, collapsible staff.

Specialties: Expert in hand to hand/close weapon combat, Phd. in Comparative Religion and Philosophy of alien cultures.

Personality: Very spiritual, spontaneous, and intuitive, but also can be rash, easily provoked, and single minded.

History: August grew up on a nice colonial world named Liebenthal to a nice family. While by no means poor, there were some luxuries they didn't have that others did. That changed when August manifested biotic potential from his mother's exposure to eezo in a refinement facility she worked at. The Ascension Project offered him a scholarship to Grissom Academy one day. Growing up on Liebenthal though, sport fighting was a common local past time and August trained in several of the martial arts. By the time he got to Grissom Academy, he was actually more advanced than some of the senior students due to his training in Tai Chi giving him exceptional control over his nervous system. Such was the degree of control he had and his unique form of physical mnemonics that convinced the Ascension Project to offer him the opportunity to test the experimental L6n amplifier. Upon graduation, the Alliance offered him a chance to undergo officer training but August refused, saying his path was not that of a soldier. However a ship captain by the name of La Croix of the ship Hawkins offered him a better deal, get to travel and meet interesting people AND advanced humanity's interest as a Corsair. Needless to say, he did not pass up such an opportunity.

Appearance: Lexi

Lexi is a hair under 5' tall and although she looks unusually slender and slight, weighs about 125 pounds. This is due to all of the electronics and other equipment mounted to her body. The most visible of these attachments include a cranial computer mounted to the rear of her skull, though it is usually mostly covered by her neck-length black hair. Various probes and other interfaces connect to her forehead and neck, so as to allow the computer access to different parts of her brain and stem. Most of her ports and interfacing jacks are located in her shoulders and wrists, spread far apart from each other so as to cause as little disruption to the surrounding nerves and blood vessels as possible. A larger port in her neck is for breathing and eating, and though she is capable of eating and breathing normally, Cerberus normally attends to her bodily needs artificially. Another implant in her lower abdomen controls her bodily waste, and a small implant located directly beneath her cranial computer manages her hormones.

Aside from all of her implants, Lexi has delicate features, with firm lips, a sharp chin, and smooth skin that has clearly not seen much sunlight. Her body seems to have stopped growing about halfway through maturation as her head and facial features mirror those of a full-grown woman, but her body still exhibits the straight lines and flat features of a young teenager. She typically wears a Cerberus jumpsuit that regulates her heating and cooling, and has no idea what her preferences would be besides the typical jumpsuit.

Name: Lexicon (Lexi)

Age: 19

Race: Human

Gender: Female

Class: Human/VI Hybrid

Equipment: None besides the assorted computers, chips, ports, and other interfacing implants installed into her head, arms, and body.

Specialties: Lexi has a number of VIs installed in the cranial and other on-board computers mounted to her body, each of which grant her different capabilities. The downside to this is that she can only handle so many VIs running at one time before the strain becomes too much for her brain to handle, leading to exhaustion, intense stress, and even insanity or brain damage. Also, some of the VIs contain pro-Cerberus programming, and cannot be safely activated on Lexi if she is out of Cerberus control. Most of her VIs take a minute or two to fully boot.

Among the capabilities granted by these VIs are enhanced hacking, electronic and mechanical repair, translation of all known languages, electronic countermeasures, threat detection and analysis, spatial navigation and FTL calculations, control of the CS Kore, and other varied capabilities.

Personality: Lexi is insatiably curious, logical, and naive. Her upbringing and intended use within Cerberus led to her experiencing a very different life than most children and teenagers, and once free of Cerberus control, she is eager to learn everything she can about life in the universe. She loves learning and experimenting, though she sometimes forgets that her body and physical senses are not as forgiving of mistakes as her electronic and artificial senses and capabilities. Her thinking is very ordered and rational, and as she has little more than a child's moral sense, she sometimes arrives at conclusions reprehensible to others. In spite of that, she is kind-hearted and self-sacrificing, and seeks to diminish suffering in others. She is also naive and unlearned in the practical matters of life, and although she throws herself into learning about these sorts of things with characteristic enthusiasm and zeal, she is prone to making awkward or common mistakes. She tries not to get embarrassed at such things, but doesn't always succeed.

History: (Name redacted) was born to a couple from Earth who sympathized with and helped fund Cerberus. They were responsible for the initial funding for Project Overlord, and it was to this end that they sired a genetically-enhanced child who would be intended for the Overlord program. However, they lost control over the project shortly afterwards, with Gavin Archer taking command. (Name redacted) was modified for enhanced intelligence, brain capacity, and physical health, and shortly after birth was turned over to Cerberus. From that point on, the child, dubbed Lexicon, was systematically altered and upgraded with a vast and varied number of implants, introduced to various VIs that would augment her computing power, and trained to act as a shipboard mainframe that could coordinate fleets with the precision and speed of an AI without the drawbacks. During the Geth Crisis, Dr. Archer began to focus Overlord on communicating with the Geth, eventually using one VI and his brother as his experimental hybrid rather than Lexicon. After the failure of that project, Lexicon received increased priority, and she was rapidly prepared for real-world use.

While most of her childhood and teenage years were spent in various Cerberus laboratories, at age 17 Lexicon was transferred aboard the CS Kore, a Cerberus ship especially engineered to use her enhanced capabilities. For the next year and a half, Lexicon continued various experiments and tests, proving the viability of the alternate Project Overlord. Recently, her ship was ordered to transfer to Cronos Station for review by the Illusive Man. In route, it came under attack by a Corsair frigate.

Likes: Freedom (though she wouldn't know what to do with it), feeling safe, learning, math and logic puzzles, people and cultures, common household objects or lifestyles, traditions, competition.

Dislikes: Boredom, losing control of her body, inflexibility and harshness, Cerberus, merciless actions.
