Alright, this is the OOC chat. So if you have anything to say out of character, please put it here. To start the discussion for this roleplay, I'll copy/paste everything I had in the interest check thread:
So yeah. Those are my main ideas as things are currently. Let's get some discussions going.
- Well, Bioware games in general tend to play off the 'seven samurai' motif; the idea of assembling an elite team to do... something. We've got (potentially) three people here already, so either of you have any friends who might be interested?
I think it'd be ideal if someone was willing to play a Spectre or N7 operative. I can do it if no one else wants to, but frankly I'd rather play some kind of mercenary, one who's part of a PMC.
As far as a main plot well... I'm thinking it needs to be something catastrophic, like a civilian cruise ship being blown up right as it's about to dock in low orbit around (Earth, Illium, the Citadel, some heavily populated hub world). This immediately raises a few very important questions: who blew it up? Why? What to do about it? How do we maintain stability in the aftermath?
I'll go ahead and say a little about my playstyle as well. I write as if I'm writing a book, I do my best to use proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar. I try to make things interesting and entertaining, and I do my best to do my research before writing about something with which I'm unfamiliar. I don't believe in having a strict length, or requiring x-number of pages or paragraphs. I believe that as long as posts are contributing or moving the plot forward in some way, that's good enough for me.
- The destruction of the ship is meant to serve as a meta plot, as well as a common thread to bring all the characters together. Let's say it's an Earth/Systems Alliance based civilian owned and operated cruise liner. In its maiden voyage under Systems Alliance military escort (to function as healthy PR as well as a show of resilience after dealing with the Reaper threat) the ship reaches its final destination, the Citadel. That's when everything goes to hell. Alarms go off aboard the ship, giving a lucky few passengers just enough time to make it to the life boats, moments before the ship explodes. Pieces of the ship, as well as some of the lifeboats, fly through space at deadly speeds, damaging or outright destroying parts of the Citadel and leaving the Systems Alliance with egg on its face.
The Citadel Council wants a Spectre put on the task of finding out just what the hell happened and why, while the Systems Alliance requests one of their N7 operatives accompany the Spectre to aid in the investigation (and to save face). This will (ideally) create a lot of dramatic tension, at least at first, as the two characters will have (potentially) very different goals and loyalties to contend with.
Other characters will be pulled in because of this incident. For example, my character's CO was on that ship, so he'll be wanting revenge for his CO's death, and will side with whoever will help him get it. At least at first. Maybe other people lost friends, family, or loved ones in the explosion, maybe they worked on the ship and were one of the few survivors so they're under immediate suspicion and need to clear their name, maybe you're a C-Sec officer who needs to hunt down some fugitives who escaped in all the chaos... I dunno'. I'm just trying to say that there are possibilities.
Everything else, raiding outposts, prospecting on planets, street fights on Omega, searching for data logs, all of that will be done to either strengthen the characters (need that sweet loot bruh), for the Spectre or the Operative to gain a crewmate's loyalty, or to make some kind of progress towards finding the culprit(s) responsible for the bombing.
So yeah. Those are my main ideas as things are currently. Let's get some discussions going.
