Mankind's Fall

Verdas

( . Y . )
In the year 2074, humans discovered a way to transfer their memories an personality; their conscious, into the bodies of machines. More and more people began doing this. By then, technology was already extremely advanced. The machines were originally meant for war and were water-proof, fire-proof, heat and cold resistant, durable yet light, fast, flexible, and all had long-lasting batteries. As machines, the former humans saw what they had done and wanted everyone to become machines so they didn't need to keep on destroying world and killing creatures en masse for food, but some chose to stay as humans. Those, the machines purged, and destroyed all the buildings and technology except the ones they took with them to create their base, Valhalla, on a mountain. The few humans that survived mutated and gained supernatural abilities, while other species mutated even more, gaining supernatural abilities, different appearances, and traits. The humans multiplied and created a small town in the deep part of a forest, near enough to the mountain so they could obtain metal scraps and whatnot, despite the risk, while the machines continue to aim for the complete elimination of the humans.

Machines can transfer their conscious into other machine bodies of choice if they so choosed in Valhalla. Some machines even have human-like bodies, with fake flesh and skin on the outside.

On a large balcony in Valhalla, overlooking the forests and the landscape below the mountain, a single, large, cyclops-like machine observed the ground below. His large blue eye made him stand out from the rest of the machines, though at the moment there were no other machines with him. Despite his 'God's Eye', he had yet to locate the location of the humans. They were good at hiding, he had to admit. However if hiding was all that they were good at, they would be no different than mice it rats, soon to be found and eaten by the hungry cat. The world no longer had man-made skyscrapers or cities bustling with people everywhere. And somehow because of that, Odin felt a sensation of calmness and ease, despite being a machine.

Sahqon looked at Valhalla from beneath a tree, hidden beneath it's shade. 'Though that place is filled with those damn robots, it's still a great scene from here.' He thought as he watched and admired it, unaware that a machine on the balcony in Valhalla was doing something similar. He turned his back on the view and walked back to the little village the humans took shelter in. @Spotine

Roxy was found in an old run down building practicing her throwing knife skills. The paint on the building's walls was peeling, most of the glass was broken into shards scattered over the floor, and the ceiling looked like it would cave in any moment. To someone else, this place might seem spooky or dangerous, but Roxy found it as the perfect place to hide and wait for humans or another machine. She hadn't seen either of those in days... Humans were good at hiding so that didn't surprise her. But machines practically ruled the world, she was a little curious as to why she hadn't seen one. Roxy shook of the thought, figuring she enjoyed solitude better than the company of another machine, and threw another knife into the wall. It landed almost in the middle of the target she'd drawn on the wall. "So close." Roxy thought, sighing.

Carly sat inside her house, toying with one of her guns. It wasn't loaded, although it would have been if her aunt let her. She sighed and stood up from her old wooden cott she slept on and walked over to the door. The sun was covered by clouds at the moment, giving Carly a view of the little hill right in front of their hidden village. Multiple trees lined the hill, making it a good place to relax. Carly leaned in the door frame and sighed again. She was sick of hiding. Sick of hiding from these machines. She wanted to end their rein. @Verdas

Odin saw an old, run down building, so close to collapsing that just one punch from a machine could do it in. It did seem like a place that humans would go to, so he decided to give it a chance considering the possibilities of a human going there or being near there. He jumped off the balcony, getting up to great heights just from the jump itself before activating his jets and flying to the location at nearly the speed of sound as his jets were capable at going at Mach speed, as were most of the jets of the more superior aerial machines. His jets deactivated and instead he began levitating, hovering right above the ground and casting a great shadow, he approached the building. As he did he heard a smacking noise, like when a dart hits the corkboard. He turned on his infrared vision but saw no human figure within the building. His size was a bit too large to go inside the building through the main way, so he simply decided to speak. "You, the one inside. What are you doing? Waiting for humans perhaps?" He asked from outside. @Spotine

Roxy heard something. It sounded like footsteps... She pulled her knife out of the wall and stopped to listen. Then she heard a voice. "Aye! I am practicing my knife throwing. I'll test it on you if ya' like." Roxy called out. She crept silently to one of the broken windows and saw a machine standing outside. She sighed in relief. If it had been a human, that would have caught her off guard. But, it was something for her to kill if it had been a human. Roxy went to the doorway that was missing a door and peeked outside.

@Verdas

Odin stared at the human-like machine with his unblinking eye, analysing her. His eye alone was enough to show that he must be equipped, and made of very high-tech gear. "You resemble a human too much. Not only in your appearance, but your choice of weaponry and the way you talk." He said to her in a voice that was akin to a robot version of his original voice. "If not for the fact that we machine have the fuctions necessary to tell apart machines and humans, you'd be no more than a pile of broken gears and molten metal by now, so I advise you to be careful. Even a machine can make mistakes." @Spotine

Roxy raised her eyebrow at the machine's statement. "Are you comparing me to one of those, scum, filthy humans?" She asked in an angry tone. She gripped the handle of the knife tighter. But Roxy knew it was true. She really did resemble a real woman, with her curves, and she even had hair. But her voice had a slight metallic ring to it, and her 'skin' was tinted grey. Roxy snorted, as if mocking the machine in front of her. "You tell me to be careful? At least I could sort of pass as a human. Works well for me to be a spy." She said. She twirled her knife in her hand, just to show off her skills and as if to say 'don't mess with me'.

Odin shook his head, the sound of him performing such a gesture making a mechanical articulating sound. "You won't even work as a spy with your voice and skin. Although your emotions might pass for that of a human, it gives all the more of a reason why you would be dead if not for our special functions as machines. There is also no need for spies as our stealth technology is considerably better." He said to her, not bothered by the knife in her hands as such a weapon originally made by human hands wouldn't even scratch him. "Your use of human weapons is also... Not recommended." He said, almost as if he was mocking the machine before him. He had never imagined a fellow machine to be this stubborn and irrational. @Spotine

Roxy narrowed her eyes. "Ha. You act like you know so much about machines." She said bitterly. She got into arguments a lot, and was used to it by now. She threw the knife into the wall that was about 10 meters away. "Alright. My choice of weapon, is my business. And just because you got all you fancy machine gadgets, doesn't mean I don't either." Roxy said, putting her hands on her hips. "I just choose human weapons because I find them to be the most painful for my victim."

Odin continued to observe the machine in growing disappointment. "Very irrational and pointless, unless you wish to obtain information from them. I'm sure that being burned alive, melting while still retaining consciousness, and being scorched and left with a permanent scar... Would be far more painful for a human, no? These 'fancy machine gadgets' can cause far more pain than that piece of metal that you call a knife." He said to the stubborn machine, mocking her again, though it was hard to tell from his emotionless voice and machine face which contained nothing more than one, large, eye. @Spotine

Roxy scowled. "Stop it! Leave the emotions!" She thought to herself. Her face then returned blank. "Yeah whatever. If we're machines we're supposed to be on the same team right?" She held out her hand and a magnet protruded from it. The knife flew to her hand immediately. "in other words, do you have anything on the human's current location?"

Odin shook his head once more. There were many, many, places on planet Earth where they could be hiding in, the forest surrounding the mountains were what he wanted to check first, however, and then going further and further an further until the humans had nowhere to go or hide. "No. I shall have some aerial drones (not controlled by one with a conscious, generally weaker and less efficient than those with ones) to search this entire forest. I worry about their strange new abilities, however. It may be troublesome. Although I'm not entirely sure all of them possess such abilities, the ones I faced last certainly did." He replied to the machine, warning her of the unexplainable abilities that the humans seemed to have obtained. @Spotine

Roxy nodded slowly. All of her joints were oiled, as she was a newer and more advanced machine, so it made no noise as she nodded. The fact that she was oiled and put together so perfectly was the reason for her agility. "It makes sense." Roxy said simply. "I don't know why they have these powers... Or where they got them. The seem to be advancing in technology, like us."

Odin turned to face the direction west of them, observing it as he had heard a noise coming from that direction, but continued to speak with the machine. "Yes. If we capture one alive, I hope to conduct some research on them. If we find a way to harness these abilities, assuming that that is possible, it would be a great discovery." He said turning back as it turned out to be no more than a flying squirrel, not knowing that there was in fact a human hiding there, barely managing to escape being caught by Odin (NPC).

The man silently jumped from tree to tree, heading back to the village as fast as he could, though as he got on to another tree, there happened to be birds perched on it and having startled them, they cawed and flew away from the tree, causing a lot of noise. The man cursed at this and went even faster, praying that he wasn't detected. @Spotine

Roxy nodded. She heard the noise too and looked past the Machine. It turned out to be a flying squirrel. "I thought I heard a human." Roxy said in a monotone voice. "Did you see anyone?"

@Verdas

Odin shook his head. "I'll check again." He said, turning his head to face the direction of the noise once more and activating infrared. He saw a figure moving atop the trees, and pointed at the direction the figure was going. "It appears that a rat has seen us and is trying to run away." He said, taking aim to fire his God's Eye beam. It may cause a small fire depending on the wind and how many trees it affects, however he doubted it would do much else. Destroying the forest would be a disadvantage as it could also be used by them an may work as a lure for humans who are looking for materials and want to try their luck sneaking throug the forest. @Spotine

Roxy held her hand out in front of Odin. She scanned the forest for the human, her eyes squinted. "Wait. We might be able to get information out of it." She said, her tone quiet.

@Verdas

Odin's hovering device activated and he began to become seethrough and transparent as his camouflage also began to activate. "Perhaps. I shall capture him. Assist me. It will increase the chances of a successful capture." He said, turning completely invisible and heaodn off into the direction where the human was in silence thanks to the fact that hovering made no sound. He kept track of the human while also paying attention to his surroundings as there could be a dangerous mutated animal, although it would be of no problem for him to take care of it, it would certainly stall him enough so that the human would get a good ways ahead. @Spotine

Roxy crept after Odin. She could sense him, even though he was camouflaged. She spotted the human in the trees and smirked. Roxy silently stepped through the grass and around the trees. She held her knife in her hand, prepared to use it if she had to. @Verdas

Odin quickly 'flew' to the location of the human, trying to intercept the human and block it's path. He got above into the sky and, deactivating his camouflage, landed in front of the human as he was about to jump again, making him fall over and land face first into the ground. "Patience is virtue. You should've been more careful to make sure you weren't detected." He said, walking over to the human and resting his foot on the their arm, half crushing it, as he watched him until the other machine caught up.

The man screamed in pain as Odin placed his foot on his arm, feeling the bones breaking under the heavy weight of the machine. He cursed loudly as he tried to push Odin's foot away, placing his hand on it and heating it up with his supernatural power: the manipulation of heat and fire. Unfortunately for him, Odin was specialised in handling with extreme heat, making it a futile effort.

Somewhere, Sahqon thought he heard a loud scream, a scream from a man, not far off, but at the same time not a place he would get to that quickly. He ran to the direction of the scream, wondering whether it was a mutated animal or something, though he also worried that it may have been the work of the machines. In that case, they were far too close and he would have to warm the others after confirming what it was. @Spotine

Roxy hid behind a tree, watching Odin surprise the human and knock him to the ground. She smirked at the sound of the human's screams. She loved that sound... The sound of pain. Roxy walked forward, arms crossed. She raised an eyebrow at Odin, as if asking what to do next.

@Verdas

Odin beckoned to the machine to come closer. "Well? Now's the perfect chance to demonstrate what you can do with that pain-making knife of yours. There's no need to bring him back to Valhalla, so we'll simply attempt to obtain information right here." He said to her, putting more pressure onto the man's arms, making him scream louder and get more desperate out of sheer pain and despair. "Also, wouldn't you agree that this is the perfect lure to attract others of his kind and to prove that that piece of metal isn't as useless as I said it was?" He asked her, unaware that there was a human running to their location as he speaks. @Spotine

Roxy kept her face blank and twirled the knife in her hand. She moved closer to the human, who was flattened on the ground by the other machine's foot. Roxy knelt beside the human and held her knife above him like she was going to stab him. She then looked up at Odin skeptically. "Yes, this will help lure other prey... But this knife is not useless." She growled. Roxy turned the knife in her hand and slowly brought it down the humans back, not cutting a very deep wound, but enough for some blood to seep through the human's shirt.

Sahqon came to an abrupt halt as he heard the man's screams again. He crouched low and silently crept along the forest until he reached the location where the man was. His eyes widened as he realised that there were two machines. They both looked strange and especially the which looked human, caught his attention. He knew it was hopeless to try and rescue the man and didn't even bother trying. He guessed the man was on his way to the village when he got attacked and decided to warn the others... After he stayed and watched some more. 'Shit... Turned out to be the worst case scenario...' He thought as he quietly observed, hidden from sight. (Lol your human character didn't notice anything)

The man grit his teeth and cursed louder as the machine with the human appearance cut his back. "You damn battery powered, clumps of metal junk! Go back to your mountain and sip on some oil! I ain't talking!" He yelled, despite all the pain he was going through. Odin put even more pressure on his arm, crushing nearly all the bones and sending the broken pieces poke inside his broken arm as a puddle of blood formed under Odin's foot. @Spotine
