Growing up in Puerto Rico was by no means easy for Kamila, especially based on her parents' economic status. While yes, the economy is improving there, it's not easy to make a living as a ex convict, especially one married to an American. So, when Kamila and her twin sister were born, it made life even more difficult for their family. Their parents tried their best to make the girls life as easy and happy as possible, but she still has witnessed some things that someone more privileged would not have. Still, it was a surprise to everyone when her mother ended up pregnant, within the same month her father went back to jail. In an attempt to take her kids somewhere safer, their mother took her two, soon to be three children back to America. From then on, they would alternate between Puerto Rico and the US in an attempt to stay in touch with their heritage.

Life didn't go as planned in the US though. After attending her first year of university, Kamila brought home her boyfriend, who ended up being her sister's soulmate. The three had a giant fight, leading the sisters to ruin their previously perfect relationship. From then on, Kamila has been waiting for her soulmate so she can experience what her sister and her ex are.

Meddlesome- Kamila grew up in a small town where everyone knew everyone else's business. Therefore, she wants to know what is going on at all times.

The first thing people tend to know about Kamila is her height. She stands at only five feet tall and is rather curvy for her height. Her skin is rather pale, but tans quite well. This is paired with her wavy chocolate brown hair, which now is melded with blue, red, and purple and doe like brown eyes. Her full lips are often covered in red lipstick. Kami's style consists mostly of high waisted jeans and crop tops, though recently she has been wishing that she could achieve the cottagecore aesthetic. She also often wears tall shoes, in an attempt to make herself look taller.

About a year after Calista left the grove, all druids were called back home to fight in the war. However, Cal refused, insisting that she get to spend more time with her soulmate. Due to this betrayal, as the family saw it, their father decided to cut all the kids off from the modern world. This meant disowning Calista as well. However, Octavia, as the second oldest and the closest to her sister, decided that she wanted more out of her life than being a soldier. So, she left the grove, never to return. She proceeded to travel the world for the next year, looking for her sister, or her soulmate. Eventually, she stumbled across Manchester Academy who directed her to her sister. She has been living with Calista and her soulmate, Tetsuya ever since.

Now as an eighteen year old, she wants to be able to go out and experience the world. Maybe even with the love of her life.

The Piereni sisters are a rather odd sight in this world. Octavia has stark blond, almost white hair and light blue eyes, which tend to make her stand out. Her eyes are light blue, with flecks of gold and her mouth is almost permanently in a smirk. Her ears are strangely pointed up, a genetic modification which has become prominent in their grove in the last twenty years. She has recently discovered makeup and is unusually good at it, but for the most part settles with a bit of mascara and lipgloss. She is still discovering her style, but seems to really enjoy wearing skirts and dresses, along with shorts underneath in case she needs to go on an adventure.

backstory

Elle grew up as a single child who was adopted by two loving gay dads. Her dads treated her like she were the stars that graced the Earth and would give her anything she could have dreamed. The family of three grew up in a city called Westview, courtesy to one of her dads, who had found the town from a very exclusive job offer. Elle couldn't remember living anywhere else, although her dads like to tell her stories from when they lived in the hot land of Arizona. Growing up fairly well off and with reminders from her dads, she tried not to take what she had for granted, but all that would come to a halting stop when she entered High School. Wanting to fit in or grab the attention of a certain person, she decided to run in with a bad crowd of kids who skipped classes, started arguments, and participated in some... illegal activities. She went from a sudden change to being a huge book nerd who couldn't help but stop at the bookstore on her way home, to a girl who blew off her dads and came home way too late. She and her friends would often be lighting fires for fun, shoplifting, smoking bad substances, and whatever else that would cause havoc. Her dads immediately noticed the change in her and tried to crack through to her, thinking it had to do something with being adopted. When her dads asked her why she joined the group, later on, she confessed she did have a crush on one of the kids in the group and figured it would be like all those young adult romance novels.

Eventually, the law caught up with Elle and her friends and they ended up being arrested. While in jail, she overheard cops talking about a murder case that occurred a few cities over, which piqued her interest. After her dads picked her up and she was grounded for a few months, Elle decided to focus on a new interest: forensic science. This interest led to her pulling up her grades and receiving a scholarship for Manchester University which she is extremely excited about. Due to her criminal past, she did have to retake high school classes as night classes to catch up and receive a diploma.

At first, Liliana comes across as a strong, independent woman with a hard exterior. Though if you spend a little bit of time with her, she lets out her softer, sweeter side. Like her late mother, she has a grace about her that is betrayed by her sometimes awkward manners. She is a bit odd in social dynamics, having been raised alone on her dead parents’ estate largely by their household staff, so she sometimes misreads social cues. She is kind to strangers, but finds it difficult to actually make friends. Often people feel bad for her since she lost both her parents at a young age, and she hates to be pitied, so they get off to a bad start.
Backstory

Three years. Liliana enjoyed three blissful years of being adored and doted on by her parents... before the tragic plane crash that orphaned her. After losing both her parents, the young Lily fell under the care of her uncle... who pretty much placed her under the care of a nanny and other household staff.

Growing up, Lily wanted for nothing. Well, nothing aside from the love of her parents and meaningful connections. Despite her unfortunate circumstances, Liliana grew up surprisingly optimistic. She spent much of her time being taught by a governess and practicing ballet in her parents now unused ballroom. Movies, TV and books were her closest companions, hence her hopeless romantic notions.

After attending a high school for soulmates, Lily discovered she had a white thread, but no red or blue threads. Any thoughts of possibly pursuing a relationship with her past soulmate were put to rest when he fell terminally ill and died. Lily believes she may be cursed, fearing that anyone she truly loves will meet an unfortunate end.

Personality: Nicolai is a fairly easy-going individual, despite his disability. He finds pleasure in the little moments in life rather than getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of a world in the fast lane. To those that meet him, he seems to always have a smile on his face and sometimes a slight jab at his blindness through jokes. However, Nicolai is a fairly socially awkward fellow, as a lot of times people don't know how to treat him despite his requests not to do so. He finds people's pity rather insulting and would prefer that if they were going to pity him that they just leave him be with his sculptures or piano instead.

History:
Nicolai was born as a blind child to Ramona and Viktor Morozov. His parents thought that their child would turn out to have a difficult life. But as he got older, they realized he was definitely much like his mother. She was artistic and loved music to the point of having a grand piano in her home along with her own art room. It was these two rooms that a young Nicolai lived in. His mother was amazed that he could learn to do either and encouraged him to continue with the hobbies. She went so far as to push him to compete in piano competitions, which he actually began winning.

By the age of sixteen he'd already made a name for himself on the international stage. Although, he wasn't fond of his name as "The Blind Pianist." He continued to compete and enjoyed quite a bit of fame though it was on a scale closely linked to those that enjoyed classical music. Which namely meant his parents' friends of rather high influence. It was there that he met his first love and the woman that would break his heart and nearly end his music career. It was a relationship that Nicolai thought was real, but for her? She got publicity. She wormed her way into higher society and then tossed Nicolai to the side saying that she couldn't love someone that couldn't see her. These words stuck with Nicolai more than anyone would ever realize.

His music began to suffer from the heartache. He never could get his head into the music so to speak, unless the song itself was traditionally somber. He began to stop showing up to competitions as well, nearly dropping off the face of the Earth a year ago. That is until his mother pushed him to go to Manchester University for a degree in music. A chance to experience music, meet new people, and maybe even get over his broken heart.

Personality: Vikal is a fairly friendly to anyone that meets him. He goes with the flow of things and doesn't really get mad. Then again, he almost doesn't seem to get emotional. He is reserved and often found reading books on dead languages or cultures. He also reads quite a few fantasy books and would gladly brainstorm ideas for entire worlds, even going so far as to have written down about a book's worth of lore for a world of his own creation. He is definitely a daydreamer and will often lose himself in his thoughts as he explores his own imaginings, often trying to spice up his boring life that he's living to protect others.

History: Vikal was born to Nurul Izzanti in San Francisco California. His biological father was the deity Dagon, and despite this his, father Ajij welcomed the boy into his life accepting the child as his own. They were a fairly happy family. Vikal, not knowing he was a demigod, had a few difficulties growing up. He was always larger than his classmates, and stronger than them. He also had to deal with learning two different cultures simultaneously. His somewhat traditional Indonesian beliefs from his parents and the American culture. The latter of which he took to better as he always felt like he didn't belong, and at least American culture half-accepted his oddities.

When he turned thirteen, Ajij finally told Vikal the truth of his bloodline. That he was the child of a Lovecraftian deity and that he needed to be mindful of this. As it meant there was a greater chance that he could hurt someone. This led Vikal to meditation and trying to learn more about his life and also his intrigue with dead cultures. He also dove into his own heritage even going so far as to speak with his biological father. This took a great deal of work, but luckily his parents did have a boat and were willing to help him get out far enough from the coast for his father to at least bring his head near the surface. Dagon was, indifferent towards his child. He was just another one of many but Dagon did give Vikal knowledge about his Deep One genetics.

Vikal could take on a deep one form that would be larger than himself and take his strength even beyond that. This was something that Vikal wasn't thrilled about, but what worried him more came next, he would be able to keep growing so long as he took in enough nutrients to support it. As a 6'2 thirteen year old, Vikal was terrified of just how large he could get, but considering the size of his father, yeah he could see it. Other than that, Vikal would just live a very, very long life. And with that information, Dagon left Vikal to return to the deep sea. After that day, Vikal isolated himself more than before.

With some encouragement from his parents he's decided to go to Manchester University. They hope it'll help him get out of his own head and worries, while still letting him pursue his interests in dead cultures through a degree in Anthropology. And that hopefully one day he can find the answer to the question they know he's asking while not even realizing it. Where does he fit in this world?

Personality: Victoria is a very proud woman that has refused to let her vampiric curse hold her back. She believes that she can do anything she sets her mind to through hard work and perseverance. However, she also believes that a woman should do her best to look appealing at all times and finds tomboys to be a bit, lacking. She is very judgmental and haughty, looking down on those that she deems inferior. She is willing to help others, and would gladly help with fashion. She does keep up with trends, though she herself wouldn't be caught dead in them.

History: Victoria was born in London England, around 1866 to Richard and Elizabeth Myers. They were a fairly well off family with some connections to nobility. Her life was one of leisure, wealth, and status. Much was never expected of her as she was the fourth daughter of the family. During her third sister's wedding, Victoria met a man that courted her. Her parents didn't trust the man as something seemed off about him, and right they were. One night, Victoria was attacked by this man, though she managed to escape from it relatively unharmed and the man was later found and imprisoned. The only real mark he left was the bite mark on her neck.

Over the next four years she experienced a great deal of changes. Sunlight bothered her more and more to the point that she couldn't walk outside without covering her skin and keeping under a parasol. Food was lack luster to her and she craved her meats to be more raw than not. Later on, after its invention around 1917, this craving was sated with tomato juice so that she could live a normal life. She also invested heavily into the production an development of tomato juice. She determined that she'd been turned into a vampire and actually cursed her fate until she moved to the United States in the mid 1950's to avoid people noticing her lack of aging.

Living off the wealth she'd inherited from her parents' death, Victoria didn't really do anything other than keep up with the world and invest into interesting business ventures until the 1990's when she finally decided to do more than just sit around. She got her GED, considering how she couldn't exactly go back to high school looking like she did. Then proceeded to work towards her first PHD in pharmacy. This was her first decision to deal with her vampiric problem. She wanted to walk out into the sun without it burning her alive. So she worked hard to create a sunblock for vampires. And she succeeded. With this she made a massive leap for vampires everywhere. However, she didn't feel it was enough. She would later get her second PHD, this time in biochemical engineering. This was so that she could combine it with her pharmacy degree to create a "blood substitute". Something more effective than tomato juice to stop the cravings, which has become rather useful in the modern era. Now she's come to Manchester Academy, her alma mater to earn her PHD in fashion design, on a whim.

Other: Wears mostly Victorian Era styled clothing with some slight modern changes. Her hair is about eighteen inches longer than she is tall, she refuses to cut it. Earned her first PHD in pharmacy then created her own sunblock that is SPF 500 so she could walk out in the sun without needing to carry a parasol, though she still does.

Personality: Xime is a tough girl having been raised by her father and four brothers. She doesn't take shit from people and will call people out on their bullshit. However, she does have a caring and compassionate side that she shows to those that she's close with. However, the fluctuation between the two is fairly sharp sometimes. She is one to hold a grudge and not let it go unless the person goes out of their way to make it up to her. She has a bit of a temper but knows that she can't always let it show.

History:

Ximena Serrano was born the fifth child of Roberto and Moncia Serrano. She would also be the last child between these two as her mother died when Ximena turned three from cancer. The family was devastated, though Xime was affected the least due to her age.

Growing up, Xime never even really felt like anything was wrong with her family life. They all looked out for one another and took care of the stuff that her mother would've amongst themselves. Xime would be left to cooking when she turned twelve because the boys had terrible tastes in food and didn't understand the importance of a balanced diet. Growing up around nothing but men though, left Xime as a tomboy that could be as rough and rowdy as any guy she knew in school. She was "one of the guys" and hung out with them a lot more than the girls. That is until high school when she joined the girls' basketball team.

High school, though financially trying for Xime, was actually her favorite part of her life so far. She had close girl friends that helped her break out of her completely boyish fashion sense. To say that Emilio saw more of his tutors than his own parents would be the understatement of the millenia.

When he was finally sent to a private high school, Emilio began developing his reckless behavior. He'd get into fights with people poking fun at the scholarship kids or those that had to work for something. He hated the entitled attitude his peers had as Emilio's father did at least implant one thing into Emilio: "Nothing in life is free. You have to bust your ass for everything you want in life, no exceptions." And so to him, anyone that throws their money around is scum. Now, a thing that came from his recklessness was a love for adrenaline. He began to get into drag racing and extreme rock climbing. Although his drag racing has cost him three cars before the end of high school. All of which his dad chewed him out for, though Emilio learned to repair the cars including the body work. He just hasn't had the time to fix them up.

A major problem that Emilio has always faced was the people that would approach him to gain favor with him. Mostly because of his name and how much money he had. Or at least, they thought he had. He preferred the company of the people that liked working on cars or just hanging around playing video games. Most of these people weren't the wealthiest and didn't even know about his heritage. To them, Emilio was just a normal guy, something that the boy desperately craved.

Style
Amir usually wears bland pants and shirts, with typical thick framed black glasses. His thick curls are usually left alone and is a bit disheveled (see above), and is usually periodically trimmed by himself. He likes keeping his clothes light and loose, and has pretty bland fashion sense--actually, doesn't have much fashion sense at all. Doesn't really think twice about the clothes he wears. There's not much to tell here, honestly.
HISTORY: Amir's childhood is full of confusion and confliction. His parents had him in their late teenage years, long before they were ready to actually raise and provide a child; long before they were ready to provide for themselves.
Both being people that had gone a bit too far off the deep end, Amir's father was a struggling adolescent in an abusive home, and his mother came from a family plagued with constant loss and tragedy. Both were from low income, rather unstable areas, and his mother was in a constant battle with drug addiction.
Life with them was unstable. Although his parents did care for him and did their best to support and love on him, their internal battles could leave him neglected for who knows how long as a baby, and he was consistently left with his maternal god-grandparents—the god parents of his mother, who were family friends.
Amir's parents started losing and gaining custody inconsistently throughout his childhood, and he grew used to spending time in unfamiliar places. Foster homes, court cases, random hotels, and anyone that would baby sit him for weeks on end. He honestly never realized how neglectful his childhood was until he grew up and was able to look back at those memories, full of his sobbing for his mommy and daddy to come get him, or out of fear when he was surrounded by strangers after being forcefully ripped from them.
Eventually, when Amir was in middle school, his mother overdosed. His father had been in and out of jail, but by then, knew he couldn't keep Amir in such an unstable life as he grew up; the last custody battle was an agreement between his father and his god-grandparents. Amir was adopted by the maternal family friends, who always struggled to get pregnant.
They always treated him like their own child, gentle and understanding. The gravity of his family life was something that always hung on their shoulders, and for a while, there was a lot of tension as they weren't sure how to help him beyond providing therapy. Amir, as well, felt like he was a burden on them, until they managed to attend family therapy and reach some sort of breakthrough. Since then, their relationship has been a close one, although Amir still has trouble accepting their abundance of love sometimes.
Amir still keeps loose connections with his father, although their relationship is quite damaged on his own. He refused to attend therapy with Amir and left their emotional baggage unpacked, and although there have been moments of healing, Amir's father still has yet to get his life together. It is a constant emotional struggle of watching a loved one self destruct and return whenever they're ready, for awkward conversation and elephants in the room that remain unaddressed for years. They don't talk often, but Amir still loves him, no matter. what.
Amir applied to Manchester University wanting to meet his soulmate and experience an untainted, undramatic love, and especially so his adopted family could see him happy and thriving. He makes it a mission of his to succeed just as much for them as he does himself, because he honestly believes they deserve the world, and wants to see them relieved. His pursuit of pure and innocent affection is what lead him to want to become a veterinarian; animals were almost always pure of heart in mind, and always a great output for love. It just felt so good to help and provide for others, especially innocent creatures, and to see them healing and healthy. Although he knows his past is a rough one, Amir has aims to just live a happy and loving life, surrounded by those he cares for.

Angry. That's one word to describe Wren Holland. Much like her fiery hair, her personality is full of fire as well. So much has happened in her life that she has little patience for little precarious things or moments. It doesn't take much to anger this redhead, but it takes a lot to take her down from her flaming pedestal once she's upon it. She doesn't stand down from a fight, probably because she's the one who started the fight. Abrasive and cold, as well as judgemental, she's also hard to approach anyone with a weak heart. It's hard to crack the hard shell and dark walls she's built over the years to protect herself from everyone. But, it is possible. Once you get over her defensive walls and past the spikes, she can be the most caring and sweetest friend you could ever find. Wren's history started off sad, and she's sure it will end sad too. She hasn't received much luck in this world and while she's cursed the skies for the longest time over it, she's recently come to terms with her fate. Wren grew up among a poor family of thieves and criminals, all fighting each other for a crumb of food or a coin. Growing up among thieves, she quickly becam accustomed to the dog eat dog world where one must be the best if they are to get anything. Being the youngest of many siblings, she was often at the end of the ladder, barely eating and living in dirt. It wasn't long until social services found her family and she was snatched from one dysfunctional family and dropped into another.

In her new surroundings, Wren tried her best to adjust, but her foster family looked down upon her as scum and reminded her that she was only a paycheck for them. Keeping her head down. she followed her roots and began stealing from others. Pickpocketing a few coins from loose pockets became second nature and soon enough she found herself making some good money. At 16, she was eventually caught by a shorter girl who immediately felt her hands slip into her purse and called her out for it. Instead of hitting her, the girl showed compassion to Wren and offered a new place to stay at seeing as she was resorting to stealing. Seeing as this would be a better situation than her current one, she accepted and started a new life. A thread tugged between the two, red as ever and Wren fell hard.

It wasn't long until Wren's dream life would come halting to a stop when one day the girl who Wren had come to love didn't come home one night. Worried for her safety, Wren searched around frantically fearing the worse... But nothing could prepare her for what was to come. Wren's soulmate had bad drug habits which Wren knew were hard on her. Wren had decided to head over to her dealer's house to find her girlfriend making out with someone else completely. Heartbroken, Wren cut her thread and ran off.

She found herself ridden of thievery once again, making her way back to where her family used to live. By no surprise, they still lingered around, taking her in with somewhat open arms and grabby hands for coin. With her family, she drank herself senseless, needing the dulling lull of alcohol. It wasn't till the police were involved and she was given a decision:
Pick herself up and move on. She could go to college, and hell, even join the police force if she managed to get things together. This decision was only given through her history with the police chief who had saved her from her family when she was a young child. He knew of her fiery passion and dedication, as well as intelligence, and figured if she put it to good use, she could make something of it.

With the decision in mind, Wren decided to apply to colleges around, having barely graduated high school. It was ironic that the only college that had accepted her was the one that was about finding soulmates. After her last run-in with her now ex-girlfriend, Wren had no interest in romance whatsoever. But hey, she cut the thread once, she could do it again right? With that in mind, she accepted and decided to apply with a criminal justice major.

HISTORY: Brienna grew up with two loving parents and an older sister, although their thirteen year age difference meant that her sister felt more like a second mother. They've always been supportive and loving, and although there have been many ups and downs during her growth, she has a pretty good relationship with all of them, including her extended family.
Her life has always been very suburban and financially stable, led by careful and lucrative resources by her very ambitious parents. Both of them owned their own law firm, and while Brienna herself isn't interested in law, she definitely inherited their driven nature. It seems to run in the family, actually, with her sister having gone into medicine with aims to run her own medical practice.
Brienna grew up in constant extra curriculars, mentoring groups, and youth programs that equipped her with skills beyond her years. Although she's never been in a leadership position out of her own preference, she always excelled with flying colors. Her application to Manchester University was more out of obligation than want. Now, Brienna wasn't a spoiled girl. She didn't get everything growing up, and she knew logically that there was a chance of rejection. It's just—she worked so damn hard. So many sleepless nights, so much tutoring, so much writing, and she got rejected from every single one of her top schools.
She didn't understand why. Sure, her test scores were a bit average, but her grades? Impeccable. Her activities? All academic based, but overwhelmingly plentiful. She always thought that hard work was the real key, because that's what everyone had told her. Even if things didn't always go your way in life, the things that counted was hard work, the choices that you made. So why didn't those choices pay off?
Her acceptance into Manchester University was a shock, but she wasn't sure if she should even be relieved. Their fashion program was great, but a part of her was still dejected over all of the rejections. Of course she accepted, though, and while she was quite nervous about meeting her soulmate, maybe it would get things back on track. Maybe those rejections needed to happen, and this was the start to a fresh, successful life, with a partner by her side to make it all the better.

Style
Micah has decent fashion sense, but a lack of shits to express it. He throws on loose jeans, any shirt, and occasionally a jacket, and calls it a day. He has the same shoes that he has had for years, and tends to shoot for the same glasses (his only accessory) even when at the eye doctor—in and out. His hair is typically natural (see above), or in a thick collection of medium length twists. Despite his little care for clothes, Micah actually has quite the particular hair routine, although it's also been the same for the past few years. It's just second nature at this point.
HISTORY: trigger warning: emotional abuse
Micah has a very nuclear family. A younger sister, Elise and two married parents, who had typical office jobs. They're almost picture perfect in their small home somewhere in the suburbs of California, with a grill in the backyard for family events.
But, he's not close with a single one of them.
Both of Micah's parents were beyond strict. They expected the world out of their children, especially Micah, as the older child and supposed future "man" of the house. They constantly blamed him for anything and everything that happened, even if it was the neighbors hearing their yelling at night. Home life was a constant battle of accusations, degradation, and arguing—even with each other—and he honestly had little positive memories. All the ones he could recall were fleeting moments, most with his mother, and none of them past nine years old. Even thinking back on them was painful, though; Micah found things easier when he detached himself from the situation, as if there was no redeemable aspects to their relationships, thinking of his parents as all angry creatures rather than real people. Things were volatile and unstable, and he never knew when one of his parents would snap. He had to constantly walk around eggshells at home, and grew a habit of triple checking everything he did.
Nothing he ever did was done well. He was never worth their time beyond ridicule, and he was constantly pathetic with his reserved nature and timid countenance. His sister, on the other hand, was more outgoing, and although didn't do as well in school, had overwhelming leeway. Maybe it was because he was the oldest, maybe it was because he actually was incompetent, maybe it was because they were misogynistic and didn't expect much out of her as a daughter, but they hardly directed their anger at Elise.
Although she also would feel the emotional affects of being in a volatile home, she had a far better relationship with their parents. Micah, on the other hand, seriously couldn't felt like he couldn't breathe when he was at home. When he was younger, he had been constantly jealous of her, but as he grew older, he only grew estranged and found solace in the fact that she would at least not have to deal with their emotional abuse. They were never close, and honestly, Micah didn't have time to be sorry about it; he was busy himself trying to do whatever he could to leave home the second he could graduate.
Micah often doubted his own experience over the years, struggling to acknowledge that his home life truly was toxic. He constantly doubted himself and had a perpetual conflict on whether he was sensitive or his parents were just assholes.
He wasn't really close with any extended family, either; Micah always felt alone, and although he had friends—a couple of which were close enough to him that he felt comfortable sharing the situation—days where he was left alone was enough to wash away any feeling of comfort they could offer. He coped by attempting to detach himself from the situation, which would include them. It also included himself.
Micah applied to Manchester University despite knowing he didn't want to go, since he applied to every college that was as far away as possible. He wanted to keep his options copious just in case.
Upon his acceptance, he honestly was close to denying them. The idea of a soulmate, of a romance, was far too scary. He knew whatever the hell you would call what his parents had wouldn't be the case for everyone, but it was all he was exposed to, and the idea of a relationship felt suffocating. Too familiar. He didn't want anything to do with it, he wanted to be free.
Despite having bountiful acceptances, scholarships were far in few. Micah couldn't afford going to any other out of state school aside from Manchester, because he couldn't take out that big of a loan on his own without any credit as a student—and Micah would quite literally rather anything than further connection to his family. He wasn't about to let them have more over him by taking out a loan in their name. Machnester was the only affordable option that was a reasonable distance away.
He decided that he would accept just to get away as far as possible, to try and be independent, and would just try to avoid his soulmate at all costs. He knew he would have to reject them, and he felt genuine pity that he was the one they would be assigned to. Micah was honestly nervous for his first couple months on campus because of this, constantly anxious that he would run into them. However, he's now in his third year, and has yet to come come across them.
Micah has thrived on his own, his parents' numbers long blocked and ties long since severed. The goodbye was as loud and heavy as he expected, when he told them to never contact him again, and he can feel himself starting to finally grow away from his past. He can breathe, now, and start that a very overdue blossom as a growing young adult. He was really finding himself.
...but, sometimes, he'll be alone in his room, or walking home from class, and feel a jolt of paranoia slip through his veins. He'll feel his breath shake when he opens the room to his dorm, only to be greeted by a painful silence, one that he almost expects to erupt at any moment. He feels loneliness, and regret, and anxiousness, and frustration, and paranoia—and then, he wonders how much he's really changed.

Micah is incredibly intelligent; he's competent and a fast learner with most things, no matter how little experience, has a great memory, and is also very observant of his surroundings. He lacks the creativity to be truly resourceful, but is a fast thinker and a good problem solver nonetheless.

Rosalyn was born into a political family of newly found power. Unlike those in government that came from old money, her family always had to prove their worth and that they belonged, so Rosalyn was brought up with a rigid and strict regimen. While groomed to be a perfect maiden, and able to put on a good show publicly, Rosalyn is anything but internally. Her paternal grandfather, who was not in the political ring, was the only one she ever felt saw her for who she really is and cared for her without any expectations. He noticed Rosalyn struggled as a child to behave and was prone to angry crying fits, so one day he gifted her a pretty ribbon. He tied the ribbon around her neck and with a wink, told her that as long as it was tied, the ribbon would help to keep her from losing her head. As a child Rosalyn took her grandfather literally and refused to remove the ribbon in fear of her head falling off, but now that she is older she uses the ribbon as a symbolic reminder to keep her composure. Rosalyn has two older brothers whom she is envious of due to them being allowed more freedom and power. Her parents love her, but she questions whether they would feel the same if she was to show her true self. For this reason, she has jaded views on love and questions whether it truly exists beyond the surface level. Her past experiences with soulmates and threads have left her more guarded than before when it comes to love, though she is more open to friendships now, and shows affection towards those she cares about more easily.

Jay threw another ball of popcorn in the air and frowned when he it missed, groaning as his friend marked another tally on the white board. He was behind one point, but the sudden statement had caught his attention.

"Why is it dumb? I think it's cool," Jay shrugged. "My parents were soulmates and they're having their best life. Popped out, like, four kids."

"It's cringy," his friend said. "And that Manchester school? Please, I bet it's a scam. All the guys that go there are prissies."

"Hey, don't be jealous you're not getting any," Jay laughed, and the others started joining him.

"You didn't have to say that, man!"

"Woah Danny, you gonna take that?"

"Like hell I will! Jay, you don't get any either!"

"Nah, the ladies love me~"

Everyone laughed even harder.

Danny continued as he regained his composure. "Well, all I'm saying is that it's probably all a scam. Don't you have to pay to stay there?"

"Yeah? Soulmates are dumb, manchester is a scam, all the guys that go there are prissies, and the ladies don't love me?"

"Yeah," the kid snickered. "What, are you offended?"

"Nah, but I'm gonna prove your ass wrong. 20 bucks says I go to manchester, get a soulmate, and have the time of my life."

"40 says they won't even take you."

"You're on."

One month later, Jay got his acceptance letter to Manchester.

Jay grew up with two loving parents, connected by fate. He's a middle child of four--the 3rd born, to be exact, with the other three being sisters. You can imagine the hell of having 4 women fawn over him and using him as a doll, or being yelled out for being annoying (completely valid, he often does it on purpose), and not being able to say no to the youngest, basically becoming her life-sized manikin.

He loved his family, and they were all really close. He was raised to be open minded and accepting, and although it's expressed in strange ways, Jay always wants to reflect those values and make his family proud. He's definitely a family man, and a bit of a momma's boy.

He's always had an abundance of friends, although when he was in primary/elementary school, he got bullied for certain "girly tastes" and for his sisters always being the ones to come to his rescue. As he grew older, it wasn't really much of a problem, but the odd sense of toxicity in society's standards stuck with him. He lives to challenge them.

That's why he attended Manchester--to prove a point, that love wasn't something "prissy", and that soulmates were a natural and exciting thing. That's what his parents always showed him, anyway.

When he told his family, they weren't very surprised, and said it was pretty typical to do something like that out of spite. The goodbye consisted of his younger sister taking over his room...

Since then, though, Jay has gone through quite the change.

Meeting his soulmate had to have been one of his happiest memories of his life, but at the time, they were still so immature and had a lot of growing to do--darker sides of him that he allowed come to light for the sake of his best friends caused a rift between him and Aurora. She was insecure and he was too prideful, and in the end, ended up cutting their thread.

A year passed of heartbreak. Jay something of a hollow of himself. He initially tried to play it off, but he honestly couldn't, and soon had stopped going out with friends (although he could never shake off Akira and Rosalyn), his grades dropped, and even after a year could not get past the heartbreak.

It was his family that really pulled him out of it all, reminding him that pride had no place in relationships, that it was up to him if he really wanted to make it work--and that, quite frankly, it was disappointing to learn of him letting go without attempting to work it out thoroughly. After all, Jay had always been a bit of a romantic, someone who looked forward to soulmates, with his parents always setting an example for him since before he could remember.

It took some more time on his own, but he eventually couldn't stand being away for much longer. Jay went to Aurora with even the thickest of his walls broken, and tears overflowing. They made up.

Both individually and with his relationships, Jay has since and grown and is now attending Manchester University on a full scholarships. He can't wait to continue on into the next chapter in his life with his favorite people by his side!

Friendly

Jay can and will be friends with absolutely anyone, no matter how different the personality or how much their interests lack. He just loves making new friends and meeting new people, and doesn't like the feeling of excluding anyone from anything.

Social interaction is an absolutely breeze for Jay, although he isn't always as skilled at dealing with tense atmospheres. Still, he does his best to mediate and can usually be a good diffuser, even if he isn't the best--this, of course, doesn't apply to when he's part of the instigation.

Jay acts like a dumbass, and he's very aware of that. He quite honestly likes coming across as unintelligent, since proving people wrong is an especially fun hobby of his. It's nice to be underestimated.

This is mostly a result of his liberal upbringing, especially given that he personally experienced bullying for not being "manly", or whatever that means. Jay is someone who's always open to a new perspective, a new experience, and new ideas.

This is definitely all on his family. Jay is the kind of guy who will keep the door open for the people behind him, even if they come in groups, and is quick to be appropriately helpful to others in a polite manner. Yeah, he'll definitely crack some jokes along the way. This now somewhat extends to people that have wronged him or those he cared about; Aurora has influenced him enough to take the high role on things, even if it kills him, and not dwell on them. Although at first, he was only doing it for her sake, even if it contradicted his values, he eventually grew into the habit of not letting people that aren't worth it take up too much of his time. His old vengeful nature just might jump out if something terribly enough happens, though.

It's really easy for Jay to put himself in others' shoes in attempt to offer compassion, and he does it often. He's always offering emotional support for anyone, no matter how little he knows them.

Jay already dealt with his phase of overwhelming insecurities, and has since grown to love himself and his appearance with open arms. There was a period of time where his confidence was especially shot down after everything went down with Aurora, but he has slowly rebuilt since them. Jada is a lover of cute clothes but a hater of being too revealing with her slightly old fashioned mindset. Cute tops would never be cropped nor would show any bra straps, and shorts, dresses (she loves those), and skirts were not to be too short. She tends to lean towards the latter two, by the way. She's a fan of colorful patterns and designs, and doesn't have much of anything in her wardrobe that's gray or black. Formfitting outfits are something she's very partial to, sometimes paired with a large jacket. She's a fan of jewelry, but doesn't go overboard--a simple necklace and earrings is usually what she shoots for, hoops being her favorite option of the later. Her large kinky hair is almost always picked to the biggest afro she can muster, and her hair care routine is one of her most important (and favorite) ways to practice some self love. HISTORY: Jada grew up in a very nuclear family with a smooth upbringing. Two parents in a happy relationship, an older sister, and enough money to hold them together, although they certainly didn't have abundant finances.
Although a well-paying field was obviously preferred, Jada's parents never forced any goals on her, and made it clear that they would be proud no matter her choices, so long as she went to college. Growing up, both her parents and her sister were supportive and loving, and she's always had close relationships with both of them. Her life in school was, for the most part, positive as well.
Eventually, she discovered her passion for the medical field and for helping others. Jada decided to attend Manchester University for the med program, but looks forward to the excitement of meeting her soulmate like most. She's always had a positive view on them given her upbringing, with her parents being the epitome of how soulmates were supposed to end up: happy, healthy, and in love.

...okay, Jada may be sincere when she faces things, but that does not by any means mean she isn't the irresponsible teenager she is. Time management is something well beyond her capabilities with her being so prone to procrastination, and honestly, she's someone who lacks independence. Maybe it's because she's the youngest, maybe it's because she was just a little coddled in her fortunate upbringing, but Jada relies heavily on her parents--and in some cases when they aren't available, her more self-sustaining friends--and is a little out of touch with the real world.

To put it plainly, Jada gets her feelings hurt easily. She hasn't really made a lot of enemies in life and aside from a few normal instances of drama in school (usually without her at the center, though), she's never had much conflict with others. So, people's words tend to sting. On top of this, Jada is more on the quiet side, and tends to think over acting. When she as an issue with something, she isn't always the best at communicating with others to reach a solution, especially because she dislikes confrontation so much. It's not a confidence issue, that's already established, it's more so that she's sensitive to conflict and really doesn't want to make other people upset.

Just because Jada likes avoid drama does not mean she doesn't like to hear about it. Goody goody would be another way to describe it.
