Thirty minutes passed. The soldiers scoured the forest for all of those thirty minutes. However, they were suspecting fleeing targets; not hiding ones. Ulfgarr, Ingrid and Shiki were unable to be found, much to their frustration.

Two soldiers approached, unaware of the trio's presence.

"By this point they've probably escaped. We're wasting our time looking for them."

"By this point? I think you're right. They're probably headed for the Fyelli deserts.. we haven't spread that far, quite yet.

"That'll probably be where Poplo wants us to head next, then. Let's regroup and head back to camp. We'll march on Fyelli tomorrow, after we secure this broken town." at that, the soldiers vanished, and the forest was quiet.

His years of surviving in the mountains crept back into the shattered mind of the undead man, causing him to cease his grumbling and lay still like a corpse, completely silent. As the voices slowly drift into silence, his red, unnatural eyes creep open as a hideous gasp escapes his lame throat and he stumbles to his feet, a grunt escaping his lips. He looks down at the two women with him with an empty, predatory gaze, but there was something odd about it... like it was restrained. As though his mind was clear enough to hold his necromantic urges at bay. He knew if his newly wrest life was going to remain his, he'd have to cooperate with these women.

Ingrid was surprised to see Shiki so willing to sleep there. The pirate woman was quick to burrow into the dead leaves and drift into unconsciousness... leaving Ingrid there alone with the hunk of dead flesh sitting next to them.

She couldn't go to sleep. No, Ingrid wasn't enough of a fool to sleep there. She thought, believing Shiki would soon meet her own demise for sleeping in such dangerous temperatures. Ingrid hoped maybe the girl would freeze to death; it would make things much simpler for her afterall.

The engineer was sitting with her arms wrapped around her knees. She was shivering uncontrollably there, and as the undead mountain man began to ogle over the land she turned to face him. He was eyeing them from a short distance away with an expression reminiscent of contempt. She sighed to herself. If only he would go to sleep; she could ditch out and escape.

For the rest of the night, the Imperials failed to find the trio. Eventually, they were called back to the main city, where they would be assigned to an assaulting force, or to garrison in Jinso.

By the next morning, all was quiet as the Imperials settled in, and others scattered off for the rest of the continent. The morning was somewhat warmer than the bitter, windy night.

The sounds of a single pair of footsteps echoed throughout the trees. Occasionally the footfalls would pause, and then quickly resume.

Walking by the group was a plain looking older man, dressed in winter clothes. In one hand, he carried an axe, and sprawled across his shoulder was a bundle of logs. Of course, up close with ample light, they stuck out like ink on a blank canvas.

"Y'all alright..?" he asked them, his voice low and somewhat raspy. "Gonna catch a cold, sleepin' out here."

Ülfarr rises to his knees and grumbles softly, his deep red eyes still somewhat visible in the twilight. He saw this man and felt the undying hunger well up within him, but with danger still so close by, he willed it away.
