Azura Erdos

Azura was a bit worried. She remembered father said they shouldn't be here, so would it be safe for Maven to go, for the city mer folks to see? But then, she couldn't resist to go adventure again. She too, dove, deeper and faster in the other direction of her brother. There was a sunken ship near a volcano that was long inactive, but colonized by all creatures in the deep sea. Azura did not enjoy things above land, but she admit some environment was created by them. The sunken ship now was barely a ship. with broken bones and rotten boards. Wonderful home for many many marine animals and corals.

She sank deeper and deeper, until the sunlight barely shone through. But for a mermaid, she could see just fine. The water glided through her bodyline as the mermaid flapped her long tail, her blue hair bright in the water.

The water embracing her made she feel belonged. Soon everything, even her family, was out of her mind. She giggled as she greeted a crowd of fish and stopped herself near the sand. It was her favourite place near the city.

But her adventure would not stop here.

Maven Erdos

After a short swim Maven finally spotted the place he called home, the large rock and coral building towering in the water. Smiling for the first time in awhile, he flicked his tail slowly making his way down into the city itself.

Being the prince came with a few downsides, one being publicly known. After a few minutes, he had his usual entourage following him with whispers and cheers for the young man. Luckily a pair of guards stepped in, guiding him back to the castle. "Good day Prince Maven! How may we be of any assistance to you today?" Nodding his head in appreciation he spoke in his formal regal tone, "Take me to Sir Cordon please, and if  he's busy please tell him it's of upmost urgency."

After a few short minutes, Maven was outlooking the royal garden when a familiar hand touched his shoulder. "Nice to see you Cordon," he said without a smile, before he left he usually would've but being on the surface made him colder, and he could feel Cordon's eyes sense it. "As you Prince, shame you grew up I might add. Now what am I required of?" Cordon replied both anxiously and curiously. "Oceanus has gotten into his head, selling jewelry above waters. He's getting to close with these humans, and dismissing my warnings as outbursts. I'm starting to lose trust in the man I once knew as my father, I need guidance." Cordon paused for a moment, taking the words in as usual and thinking of a response. "Well you do have your father's temper young man, but to a point I agree. I know you lost faith in your father long ago, and are a lost man diving into a cold place but please for the sake of your mother and sister hold your tongue. And I know you won't listen but just don't do anything rash Maven, but please let me know if anything drastic happens with your father. Bring you mother as well." Nodding his head, his silver hair flowing through the water with grace. "You know your the only one I truly listen to? My mother's words are to kind, and i'm afraid i've lost that feeling inside of me. Thank you Cordon." Placing a hand on the man's shoulder, releasing him from their meeting. Taking a deep breath, he just needed a few minutes to gather his head before finding Azura.

The woman smiled genuinely for the first time since being within New Port. The sight of her daughter being so thrilled was enough to make her forgot the possible scenarios they might find themselves in. But as she soon lost sight of them, Eris couldn't help but to feel guilty. It being strong enough to want to dive in after them and drag them by their tails back to the surface. Having trouble keeping her breathing steady, she soon moved from the rocky outcrop and began to head off the beach, back towards her home where Sean currently was.

Quickly entering the house, she would shut the main door and lean heavily on the back of it, eyes wide. She kept telling herself that her children were practically adults and were smart enough to take care of themselves, but that wasn't soothing any of her nerves. Moving to her husband's room knocked on the door twice before stopping herself. He would throw another fit if he found out what she had let them do, and after the fight with Maven, it would just make his mood worse... taking a step back she then moved to her own, shutting the door and taking a slow seat on the edge of the bed. Her knuckles soon paling as she clutched their moonstones tighter. They could get spotted by those on the beach as the sun clearly pierced through the water, making it visible for quite a ways. Or maybe they get chanced back down to the castle and she would have to retrieve them... Eris grit her teeth before closing her eyes and giving her head a brief shake, she needed to calm down. But how?

An idea passing through her mind, the woman slowly stood before numbly walking to the somewhat large bathroom her and her husband shared. Flipping on the light, she set the necklace and ring upon the counter, her gaze lingering on them a moment longer as she then tore them away and neared the bathtub. Pulling one of the handles, water began to spill from the faucet, and after fiddling with the drain for a few moments, soon pooled in the bottom the basin. As soon as it was filled to a reasonable extent, she shut the water off and discarded any clothing that would interfere with her lower half. Once that was finished, Eris stepped into the small pool and slowly lowered herself to a sitting position with her back resting on one side whilst she allowed her tail to take shape. It took only a few moments and spilled over the edge, allowing for water to splash somewhat over the side. Yet that wasn't want caused her to stifle a small gasp. She knew humans only bathed in fresh water, yet compared to the ocean's salty contents, it felt as if small shards of slate were being forced through her gills. Grimacing, the mermaid allowed herself to sink a bit deeper in the water which only encouraged more of her tail to hang out in the open air.

After a few minutes, the painful sensation began to dull and soon became almost nonexistent, which allowed Eris to shut her eyes and try to clear her mind. Not sure if her husband would've noticed the noise she had made within the small room.

Azura Erdos

After examining some new changes, like the new settlers in the captain room, small fishes that found their way to harbour their offspring, she waved them good bye and headed off. Her tail again gracefully moved her, far from the boat. Over the dead volcano and where she usually sat to rest, and swam ahead. She got limitted time, so she must move fast. That being said, it was rare for any mer people to swim faster than her. She kept on it until she saw her destination. Azura smiled, her blue eyes lighten up and her smile unable to cease.

A gap on the ground. A cliff. Few mer people swim here because it is so far and too tedius to reach the floor down there, having if anything to harvest. But Azura swam down, not to the surface down, down below, but a hole, hidden in the shadow. She didn't know why, but it seemed less natural than everything around here. The time she planned to investigate it, thinking she would still have next time to explore it, was the time she got the news that they must move as soon as possible.

And now, she entered. It was spacious enough for her, and she wondered. Would this lead her to another place? Would there be items hidden? If this was inhabited by any mer people, would there be something unexpected? This time she swam cautiously, but her heart beatened so fast, she was blushing in excitment.

However, the current seemed to be faster, so Azura knew that there must be another opening somewhere.

How people on land so proud of what they have, while under the sea have so much wonders?

Realizing the thought, the pair of blue eyes darkened a bit. It came back for a while, the feeling that she lost a piece of her on land. Now the memory on land was in her, it would haunt her. With that came along the thought that she may never be as happy again. In the dark tunnel, she persistently swam on, mood destroyed. Her hand felt the walls which were smooth. It was possible that this cave existed for quite some time now.

Oceanus Erdos

Today, the shop was closed. It was the last day of renovations, and tomorrow would be the grand opening. As such, Oceanus, or Sean as he'd go by on the surface, was resting at home. His recent fight with his son wasn't exactly the best way to start off the day, so he decided to spend his time at home, figuring out human things like computers and phones and other electronics they generally couldn't have on the ocean floor. It was amazing, the types of things that humans had made over the years. They had by far surpassed merfolk technology, but were severely lacking in the magic department. A few devices, if tweaked and charmed correctly, could mean great advancements for the merfolk kingdom.

Oceanus was so enraptured with the cellular device he was holding that he didn't realize his wife arriving until he heard the sounds of the bathtub overflowing with water. He got up, curious, and made his way to the bathroom that he shared with Eris. Leaning in the doorframe, he watched her. His eyes glanced briefly to the two moonstones on the counter, recognizing them as two of his children's stones. "How was he?" Sean asked, referring to his son, assuming that Eris had gone to talk with him about the recent fight.

Eris heard Sean has he moved for the doorway, her eyes watching as he noticed his children's moonstones before focusing on her. Hesitating for a moment, she responded in a defeated tone. "He's... still angered." Was all she could say before looking him directly in his blue eyes. "Oceanus. He isn't taking this well and I fear Azura is becoming much too depressed..." Her violet gaze was soon swimming with clear notes of saddness as she continued. "I know you want what's best for our family and people, but was living among humans the correct decision?" Falling silent for a moment, she shifted in the water a bit before giving a dry chuckle. "Look at us... if you would've told me that I would be sitting within the bathtub in a human house a year or so ago, I would've laughed." Her voice was bloated with a weak, half hearted attempt at humor that soon faded once more as she murmured "I... just want to go home."

Oceanus nodded. He knew the feeling. As of late, he'd been yearning for the cool embrace of water around his form. Was this a bad idea? He looks to the moonstones on the counter. "When are they returning?" he asks, assuming his children will be returning to him. He pursed his lips, thinking over the idea of what if they weren't returning. If they didn't... well, there was no way Oceanus was going to break up his family over his own ideals. However, he wasn't going to abandon his own kind on the surface. He had hoped to establish relations with the humans, perhaps swap some technology and advancements for some magic items... they could have bettered each other far beyond what was possible. He gripped his first, the knuckles turning white, before relaxing. If not him, then who? His son certainly wasn't in the right mindset to lead the merpeople forwards. No, if anything, his son would lead them to destruction. He didn't understand what they were dealing with. He didn't... Sighing through his nose, Oceanus calmed himself, lest he bring the ocean's wrath with him. This was the right choice. He had to believe in this. If not this, then the future of the merpeople would forever be in the past, as a myth.

"I know you want to go home, love, but we need to remain here. It's for the good of the kingdom. Sooner or later the humans will discover us, and when they do I want us to be on good terms with one another. In the long run, this is a good choice. Right now it may not seem like it, but I promise it'll get better," he says, soothingly almost. Moving from the doorframe, he kneels down by the tub, resting his hand on her arm comfortingly. "And in the end, regardless of the outcome, we'll return with the sea. This won't be forever."

Oula The Seal

Gliding her fingers over the fine edge of the yellowing paper of her book, Oula reached the end. She sat the book down beside her, contemplating everything that had just took place in the mental world she created, guided by the book before her. She thought over the war that took place throughout the series. Characters Oula didn't want to die fell to either an honorable or dishonorable end, just like her herd. There was blood everywhere, turning the water into a giant red cloud. Sleeping families ushered their children into the safest rooms of their homes, but brutes of sharkpeople rammed down their doors, showing no mercy for any soul no matter the age. Screa- a sudden force landed on Oula's legs, snapping her out of the flashback she didn't realize she was having. The girl sat up quickly, teeth bared into a threatening warning. A seal pup was resting upon her legs, gazing at her with big curious eyes. Oula's fierce expression brightened into a humorous smile. "Hey there big guy," Oula rested a hand on the seal's chubby head. This particular pup had visited her several times at the beach while his mother hunted for fish in the water just yards away. The pup flared it's nostrils, opening and closing them as it scooted even closer. "You're getting pretty heavy my dear, I'm very proud of you," Oula affectionately ran her hands up and down the dark gray body of the seal, searching for any abrasions.

Chatting with a seal -or any animal for that matter- wasn't an uncommon activity in the merworld, but Oula had to be conscious of the human world she was in. Glancing to her right Oula noticed two figures speaking amongst one another,  both blonde and both unfamiliar, which meant that they were most likely native residents of this solid world.

To her left was a girl that did look slightly familiar. Was this a foreigner to the land like Oula? She couldn't be sure until they came closer.

Alarms flashed inside of Oula's head like strobe lights. "Oh no!" Oula whisper yelled to the pup. "Go! Shooshooshooshoo," Oula gave the pup a gentle push. Unfortunately the pup took this gesture as a sign of play and threw himself forward, pushing Oula onto the ground. The seal rested atop her torso and legs, still gazing at her with innocent eyes. Oula, out of ideas and still panicking, grabbed her book and held it above her face. "I'm reading with a seal on me. This is completely normal. Very human".

Aldwyn eyed the sandwich. "Yeah, sure." He replied before moving closer and then grabbing her by the hand and then guiding the sandwich to his mouth and then taking a bite of it before releasing her hand. He chewed for quite a while and then spoke after he had swallowed. "Thanks." It was an action even a non-family member knows not to get flustered at. He tends to forego all sense of personal space and just go for it. At this point, it just's just as normal as breathing once he reached the age of eight. He then listened to her with mild interest as she began recounting the events prior to his arrival. He raised his eyebrows in surprise. Newcomers? Here? In New Point? The same place where he grew up and there was a grand total of only two other people who had joined the small community and that was when he was only but a mere child - hearing that someone moved in certainly came as a surprise to him. Then again, there seemed to have been an influx of new people lately. He could understand her excitement about it though he wasn't exactly looking forward to meeting the guy since Adrianna, the same person who is usually very cheery and pretty nice to people, says that the guy is rude.

He adjusted the cuff of his sleeve and then nodded, "It is weird." He agreed, looking up from his sleeve and towards Adrianna. "I'm sure you're quite excited to get to know the guy better, given your personality and all." He said, giving a small grin to his sister. She always did want to meet new people. Unfortunately enough, not many people do come here in New Point and everyone knows each other. In this small community, it would be take a real effort for the whole town to not know you by name. It is especially so for them who are the children of the current mayor and grandchildren to 'ol crazy Grandpa Pierce (though it should be noted that neither of them believe that he was truly crazy). "Ah but I must advise you to be careful in making friends with him. If he ever tries something on you, you know where to find me." He joked but his straightforward tone and way of saying it might make it not seem like it was a joke. Then again, he did actually half mean it. If anyone tries to mess with his family, that person would have to answer to him. He could mess with his siblings, tease them to no end, but when someone else even tries to hurt them... well, he's not the best when it comes to 'forgiving and forgetting'.

He turned his attention to other people on the beach. There was another girl entering the beach. She had modifications all over her. Aldwyn nudged his twin sister and then gestured to the girl, "You could try talking to her. She's new too." It was true. He had seen her here and there but she was relatively new as far as he knew. She had been the one who usually visited the tattoo parlors and such. "After all, a complete contrast to you seems like a good idea for a friend." Even he wasn't sure if he was joking or not. Though the prospect of making friends with an obvious rebel surely does excite other people. He then turned  his attention to another girl - the girl who was reading with a seal on her body. "Or that girl who seems to be reading while the seal sits comfortably on her." He looked back at Adrianna, a small smile on his face. Wow, quite a variation today isn't it? "Seems to be quite an interesting bunch on the beach today. What do you think?"

His words were only slightly comforting as he knelt down beside the tub, Eris’ mood not improving as she replied a simple “I know.” In a way, Sean was right. One day or another humans were going to discover them and they needed to be ready for such an occurrence. Still she felt as if something was going to go wrong, either in the exposing of the merfolk or trying to negotiate if and when it happens. In doing this, the woman couldn't help but be swamped with more pessimistic scenarios, it causing her to reach up and grip her husband’s arm rather tightly.

After a few moments, she glanced to the pieces of jewelry on the counter. “I told them to return by sunset. If they aren't back by then I have every right to assume something went wrong and they had to return to the castle, the I will go looking for them.” Pausing for a moment, a thought then crossed her mind. It was more of a question than anything else yet still valid as far as she was concerned. Appearing thoughtful for a moment, Eris soon found that it made a small amount of sense although it wasn't the best thing they could possibly do. “Why…” She began slowly, in a genuinely curious yet falsely optimistic tone. “Why should wait for the inevitable? If we are here with the knowledge that humans are going to discover us someday, why haven't we been trying to not only make ourselves known but strengthen relations?” The woman logically knew that this was a terrible idea for a few reasons, the main being the unpredictability of their reaction. But if it was only a matter of weeks or months before a human diver would stumble upon their city or a child to get caught in a net, then surely taking a different and noticeably more civilized approach would be more beneficial than being stumbled upon. Right?

These were fair concerns. Sean took a moment to contemplate how to formulate his responses. "We are not waiting," Oceanus stated. "We will make our presence known, but only when we know for certain how the humans will react. Until then, we should keep our presence hidden, blend in with the locals, so as not to invoke any undue rage." As much as Sean admired the humans, he also feared their technological prowess being turned against merfolk kind. They were already in the process of killing the ocean, it shouldn't be too hard for humans to turn similar efforts against his kingdom. His people could be slaughtered if he's not very careful about how he goes about this. It was a very risky situation, but one that needed to be dealt with in a patient and careful manner.

Location: At a local store in town.

Permeila woke up this morning feeling pretty refreshed. She stretched out her arms and smiled to herself. She then swam to the the surface to take a look around. But she made sure to hide behind a rock. Permeila never went to the main shore. There was hidden spot in the beach that most people didn't know about. So she stays there so no one will see her. So far it hasn't happen yet. The sun was already up and the sky was bright and blue. After seeing the coast was clear she sat up on the rock she was hiding behind and transformed to her human form. She then got off the rock and onto the beach. While she was walking along the beach she saw a few other people who were around. Not wanting to get noticed she quickly walked by and headed to town.

Just a few days ago a old woman had just moved here and Permila ran into her making the woman drop everything in her hand. She help'd the old woman pick it up and help'd her bring it to her house. While there the old woman, introduced herself at Luna and asked if Permeila could be her helper by going to the store for her and buying things she needed and that she would pay her for her help. Seeing as Permeila honestly had no money she decided to accept the offer. So now this morning she had to go into town to pick up a few things and that Luna asked her to get. While Permeila walked down the street she noticed a few girls from her school giving her weird looks. She quickly walked passed them hoping that they wouldn't say anything to her. Luckly they didn't. She finally reached the store and went looking for everything that was on the list.

Arianna

Arianna sighed in disbelief. So many new people in such a short time. A part of her was escalated, a part of her, not so much. There was definitely something going on. 3 new unrelated people, one with a seal on her back, did not just show up in this town every day. But her mind did not let her dwell in suspicion for long. Soon enough she longed to be near the new girl with the piercings all over her. There was something so...enticing about meeting new people. It was like unwrapping a new present: you never know what's inside. She knew her brother won't be as keen on interacting with the new folk, but Adrianna decided that meeting new people would be good for him.  "Yes, very interesting..." she said distractedly, her gaze fixed upon the girl with the studs. "Come on," she said and took Aldwyn's hand in her small one, and led him towards the rebel girl.

The gesture was normal for the two, to be holding hands. An outsider would assume they're dating, seeing the closeness. Having a twin does that to you. She knew he wouldn't be keen on talking to the new girl, but she dragged him along anyways. A slight breeze picked up as they approached the tall, muscular girl, and Adrianna couldn't help but imagine her blending in with the kids who could beat her up in seconds. She gulped slightly. Maybe dragging Aldwyn along wasn't the worst idea. But she displayed her best smile nonetheless.

"Hi! My name's Arianna. This is my brother, Aldwyn. You must be new here," she said, gesturing towards him.

 Selachima Pelagial

Sela was taken aback by the twins approaching her out of the blue but greeted them with a crooked grin as her hand brushed through her thick blue hair, adjusting her rather messy sidecut and allowing the sun to shine on her various piercings adorning the left side of her face, making them glimmer softly in the warm light.

"Oh, why would you think that." Selachima asked, raising her pierced eyebrow at Arianna as her left arm came to rest on her hip. "Is it because I look like a fish out of water, or is it my lack of tan?" Sela asked with a wide grin adorning her face, even with her having lived almost exclusively with Mermaids the sarcasm so common in humans came rather easily to her, and with it came a certain mischievousness when it came to interacting with people.

"Ah, who am I kidding, of course I'm new here. Nice to meet you Arianna." Sela replied with a small chuckle, extending her hand as she tilted her head to the side, glancing at Aldwyn with a raised eyebrow. "Wow, you're twins, aren'tcha?" Sela added, absently squeezing Arianna's hard a bit harder as she returned her attention to the girl.

Even under humans Sela really stood out, her height and unusually muscular frame only adding to her already rather unique appearance. While other Mermaids tried to not raise any suspicion and came off as rather unsociable Sela simply seemed to act on her impulses, not really trying to mask anything about herself other than the fact that she stemmed from the ocean's depths.

Only then did Sela notice that she had been squeezing Arianna's hand a bit too long, loosening her grip before rubbing the back of her head embarrassedly.

"Oh, sorry about that, I might have gotten lost in thought, my bad." Sela apologized, grinning softly at Arianna.

Azura Erdos

Azura let herself relaxed in the slow water current, leading her right into the cave. The tunnel narrowed, and more and more it became smoother, as if someone shaped it. It was dark, and the princess was nervous whether there would be traps, but she safely reached what she wanted to see: A door, which it was broken at a corner, leaving a hole where the water flew towards. It was strange, like how mer people usually made doors it was made of material from the sea --- rocks from the ocean bed --- and barely a sufficient lock from the outside. But then, the design was simplistic at best. She opened it, with a little difficulties since things grew on it.

What revealed, was a living space. A long deserted living place, to be precise. Furnitures that didn't get maintain or replaced, and again, minimal and simplistic decor, one that was more close to human's decor. It made Azura felt uncomfortable, but she continued investigating. On the left it was a strange room with a single device and nothing else. It was something with handles on the side, a rusted metal tube extended from the wall, and at the tip --- where it would face her if sher grab the handle --- was something that looked like a transparent crystal. She of course, looked into it, and her blue eyes caught some light that looked like outside. Sadly, whatever was on the other side, something must have blocked it, dirt or some marine organisms.

The strange room was on the first room's left. On the right she found the bedroom, which was known because it had a bed, a bedstand, and bookshelves. The wall was more colourful, and a strange noise hummed low. The bedstand had nothing beside some rock...and fork and knife of human origin. That was peculiar, Azura thought. Also, a bracelet that had an empty hole, the jewel that was there seemingly torn away. She turn to the bookshelf, and was startled. Her heart was beating out of her chest, her tail swang in reflex and pushed her backwards.

Beside the bookshelve, where you couldn't see from the door, words were carved deeply into the wall:

DO NOT TRUST ANYONE

It wasn't a font that was neat, but one erratic. Azura carefully placed her finger into the trace of carving, nearly half of her finger sank below the wall. Rage, she felt. Whoever carved this must have taken a tool, buried the words in, and painted it so it was so unforgettable. What have happened?

It was intriguing. Perhaps she could find the answer in the book? The books on it were close to an older form of books: Paper would not survive under water, so what was used was pieces of stones and shells, held together by rope. They were dyed, and a "pen" with sharp edges were used to write so words could show. The first book she opened was one for children, nursery rhymes. Another was about a story, nothing special about it. The next one...stuck.

Or it wasn't. The mermaid pressed her tail on the shelf to try pulling it, instead it opened up a door. A small door, just enough if a mermaid swim head in. It was concealed a few inches under the carved words, difficult to find on the oddly uncolourful wall. The water changed, flowing fast into the door, sweping Azura in since she wasn't expecting it. And then, the sound of the door closing.

Uh oh.

The flow was too strong. Azura felt she was speeding into the depths, but it changed its direction. A narrow tunnel that you could only travel by the water.

She couldn't tell how far she traveled, but as soon as she finally saw light, there came sound. The fear of her finally came true.

It was a trap. She flew right into the net, and was pulled up above the exit. In shock and fear she flapped her tail, and pulled the ropes, but it was sturdy. The she saw part of the contraption, the metal that pulled the net up was lying on the ground, rusted. It wasn't a trap set recently. This gave the relieve of that she wasn't caught by a human, since the trap was old and she was still under sea water, in yet another cave.

But who would come and help her?

Aldwyn allowed herself to be dragged by his sister. She was right. He didn't like too much interaction. After all, he wasn't one to go out of his way to talk to other people. But it wasn't too bad either. Besides, right then, he could just let Arianna do all the talking and everyone would be happy. Though, the closer they got, the more he started to realize just how much taller the girl is to him and how muscular she was. She could be labeled as intimidating, considering her muscular body and tall frame. Now, this person would be a great addition to the Hunters should his father ever see her. He wouldn't mind having that kind of ally too. The feeling of shock soon disappeared and melted into one of acceptance and mild interest. His eyes flickered to Arianna who had the biggest smile on her face... but that was after he saw that look of worry that flashed across her features. Ha, she never ceases to amuse him.

Her sarcastic reply to his sister's question made him crack a smile. "I like this girl already." And he didn't say that to every person he meets. Sarcasm is something he certainly appreciates and he was sure that his sister is the same. It's also something that is quite 'mainstream' in today's generation so people should have some form of defense against it. When she turned her head to look at him, he met her eyes and then nodded, "We are." He still wasn't quite sure where to put this girl under so he's going to wait for their future interactions before seeing if they'd actually get along or not. But as of now, she seemed like a pretty cool girl.

Grayson was strolling along the town, a content smile on his face from a recent and delicious cheeseburger from Mom's. The struggle of getting into the restaurant was always worth the excellent food that was served. Of course the service wasn't always the best either, but that hardly seemed to matter as Grayson always seemed to spot a friendly face to chat with and pass the time while waiting for his food. After all Mom's was never empty and Grayson knew almost everyone in the tiny town he called home. So down he walked the busy shopping center streets, as the afternoon was always crowded on the weekends. Even on the weekdays the shopping center seemed to be busy this time of day. The lunch hour served as a short break for the fishermen and women that worked at the harbor, that time being spent where Grayson now stands. So here he walked, saying hello to those he bumped into along the way. His destination being the beautiful beach. Grayson spend most of his free time outdoors, exercising away the stress that was built up while being cooped up indoors during the school week. Sadly, he still had a job to do outside of the classroom: planning his next lesson, grading assignments and tests, and answering questions from concerned-and rather annoying-parents. Luckily today was not one of those days. His work was already complete and there were rather few emails from parents as the school years was still very new and parents were still believing the lies from their students that school was going very well, and yes I did get an A on my first test. That would most likely change in a week or two.

So Grayson walked and walked until his destination was in site, his smile widened. He was already prepared for the exercised that he planned for today: a nice swim. He loved swimming for exercise, and the open ocean always seemed to be a much better workout then a simple pool. The crashing waves that tried to push him off course served as an extra obstacle that he was happy to hurtle over. Swimming in  pool by comparison seemed much too easy and much less rewarding. He had his trunks on already and a striped tank top to cover his tattooed chest. He had a towel and bottle of water in one hand while having his favorite pair of goggles in the other, he was all set.

When he arrived at the beach he was not at all surprised when he saw that it was full of people. He was however surprised when he discovered that there were a couple young ladies that he had never seen before. He saw one of these girls, who just happened to be covered in a large amount of piercings, was talking to the Peirce twins, students at his local high school. The girl he knew was quite friend and welcoming to others, her brother not so much. The other of the new arrivals to town seemed to be all but ignored. But for the life of him, Grayson had no idea why. The girl seemed to have a natural affinity for attracting animals to her, at least that is what Grayson assumed as the girl was currently being sat on by a young seal. Grayson simple couldn't resist the urge to walk over to her. He made sure to approach her slowly and quietly as not to disturb the animal. He simply loved animals of all kinds, scaring it away when it was so close seemed like a terrible loss of opportunity to study the trusting creature. "Well hello there," he quickly said to the sitting girl, hopping not the frighten the girl or the seal. "You must be new here, I haven't seem you in my school." Grayson sat next to the girl, hoping to get comfortable.

Arianna winced slightly as the girl shook her hand, for a second too long. She resisted the urge to rub her now sore palm in front of the new girl and instead, drew it behind her. What a curious girl, she couldn't help but think to herself. Her big stature completely contrasted the friendliness in her voice. Arianna had expected somewhat of a monster, but instead, she'd been welcome by a quite a cool person. She didn't find it strange that she liked the girl already - her tendency to see the best in a person really shone through. Her ears, however, perked up when she heard Aldwyn's reply and she couldn't help but glance in awe. Her brother wasn't one to like a person in the first five minutes of meeting them, but somehow the new girl had managed to crack his shell. She smiled to herself as a thought came to mind, but she shook it away to the back of her mind. The surprise hadn't left her face as she caught another glance at Aldwyn. Of course, he was smitten by her.

She turned to the girl as she let go of her hand. "Ah, it's all good. To be honest, it's quite refreshing to see new faces around here because everyone in this town pretty much knows everybody." She stopped in her tracks, not wanting to make the girl feel left out. From the corner of her eye, she spotted one of her teachers entering the beach and walking towards the girl with the seal on her back. She recognised him almost immediately - Mr. Snider - after all, why wouldn't she? He was one of the better-looking faculty members at the high school. She dragged her eyes away from him and back to the new girl. "But I assure you, you'll love it here. Where did you live before you moved here?"

Mira Erdos

Mira had witnessed everything that went on in the house. The big fight that happened (again), her mother leaving with her older siblings, her mother coming back with two moonstones, and all the weird splashing sounds. The girl sighed, looking at her... her fone. Mira had instantly figured out how it worked the moment she first held it. Cool things indeed. They kept Mira entertained when everything else failed to. One could find anything on the... internet. Mira had gotten a bit bored of wasting time on this glowing box, and she honestly wanted to know where her siblings went (though she could easily guess by how her mother returned with two moonstones). The mermaid girl could hear the voices of her parents from the bathroom, though she didn't try to listen. One tends to mishear when they eavesdrop. She went towards the direction of where she heard them, stopping in front of the bathroom the two shared. Her father was leaning on the door frame, and her mother seemed to be in the bath tub. Why? Mira had no idea. She stood silently, letting the two converse. The girl had time to spare.

Eris remained silent for a moment, trying to formulate a response whilst nodding slowly. His points made sense… so they would be watching and waiting for an indefinite amount of time. Opening her mouth, she was about to speak before a certain figure caught her eye. As her husband was kneeling next to the tub with a hand gently set upon her arm, her youngest daughter was in the doorway apparently listening to the conversation. Shifting lightly within the bathtub, fighting back a grimace as the smooth surface felt odd against her darkly hued scales, she met Mira’s gaze. The violet matching her own. “What is it, Mira?” Attempting to hide every scrap of nervousness and worry within her tone.

Oceanus startled slightly, turning to his daughter as she was addressed by his wife, waiting for her to announce her intentions for being present. He had thought the two of them had the house to themselves. Though he supposed there were more compromising positions his daughter could have caught his wife and him in. Still, he retracted his hand from his wife's arm and rocked back on his heels so he didn't look like he was so intently leaning over the edge of the tub. Lead by example, he always believed, and if he wanted his kids to not put forth a literal ton of PDA's when they eventually found a significant other, then he would have to not do it while they were around now.

Mira looked at her parents for a moment. She could practically feel the awkwardness oozing out from the two. "Hi guys..." She said, her voice small. Her eyes flickered towards the moonstones, placed on the counter. Unconsciously, she placed a hand on her own moonstone. Her siblings were off playing in the ocean, being who they originally were, while Mira had gone by completely ignored and unnoticed. She looked back at her two parents dissembling everything she felt and instead maintaining a pleasant face. She had read things about younger siblings being the one cared for the most. Was it because of how flamboyant they were? Did Mira have to do something flashy to get some attention? "Am I not allowed to go with Azura and Maven to the ocean?" she managed to keep her voice the same way it always was. "Why wasn't I included?" Mira half expected her parents to talk about how she was younger and therefore more prone to danger (Mira was pretty sure Azura got into far more danger than she did), and half hoped her parents would actually let her return to the sea.

Mira tried to play it off, but she hated things like this. When she was completely forgotten. When her opinion wasn't heard, or didn't matter because was the youngest which somehow made her the dumbest. When her siblings sorta marched off and did whatever things they did. It annoyed her. Made her wonder if there was something wrong with her. Or maybe she just wasn't as liked, because... because she added nothing to the family? Mira was now fiddling with her fingers, something she unconsciously did whenever she felt agitated or nervous.

As her daughter began to comment on her siblings current excursion. She kept a straight face but was internally stifling a groan. Why did she have to bring this up? Didn't she understand the danger that she already had but two of her children in? Add Mira in as well... she wouldn't be able to handle the stress. "Mira..." Eris began slowly, glancing to her husband for a bit of help when the device connected to their house called... ah, a phone via a land line rang. Once it would be answered by one of the two who could actively walk to retrieve it and they learned of the flash flood warning, the queen cursed under her breath and sat up. Violet eyes wide. "Azura and Maven... Oceanus take Mila to the town hall... I need to retrieve them." As she said this, she was allowing her tail to reform into legs, although the process was a bit slow considering the strong emotion she was currently feeling. It being almost impossible to focus upon the task.

When the phone rang, Oceanus removed himself from the conversation to answer it. It was a representative from Town Hall, calling the town to an emergency meeting due to a flash flood. Grimacing but stating he'd bring his family, Sean returned to the bathroom, announcing, "There's a flash flood incoming, everyone needs to go to Town Hall for a headcount." It was actually nice when someone besides himself sprung into action, calling the shots. Sometimes it took a load off his shoulders. "Be quick, the locals might get suspicious." He then turned to Mira. "If anyone asks, you don't know where your mother or siblings are, or where they might be." He had to restrain the urge to take his youngest daughter's hand and lead her downstairs, but he did take the lead as the two headed towards town.
